They ran my credit when I told them not to. They said they wouldnt but they did. will be 7 days let's see if I get my refund I canceled the install right after I got off phone. These people lie and cant be trusted. I usually dont leave reviews but this has to be told to help other people. I have hard inquiry for nothing . Thing is I never gave them no social. The so called manager said he was just going to check with my name date of birth if I had outstanding bill with adt. Was a lie. Stay away!

These folks installed my burglar alarm. They left painting repair to me. On March 12, 2020, ADT promised I would receive $100 Visa card with 3-7 business days. I called them when it didnt come, and they said the installer, Defenders, would send it, and I should contact them. I couldnt get a phone number on line, so called back ADT. They wouldnt answer my call.

I told the people I spoke with if this involves running my credit I don't want to discuss any further I will call you back. I cannot have my credit ran because I am closing on a house and I was instructed not to do so by lender. They said we do not have to we have another way that does not involve pulling credit. I said ok. Finalized everything and then later that day diiiinngg. My credit was pulled without even giving my social. I then left Defender a message telling them to cancel my install. They have been calling every day since I cancelled. I thought I was dealing with ADT. Then I saw these reviews. My god I am glad I did not start anything with them.

Well, let's start - these people were great to start out with, guy went over everything and the system worked.
I then PAID it off completely because I moved.
I got charged once - called them, said it would be refunded and they would cancel
Got charged 2nd month - oh, I'm sorry we didn't cancel
Now I get to dispute charges with them every month because they won't cancel it.
STAY AWAY!!!!

I lost both of my businesses due to the coronavirus in my state in the governor Putting in shelter in place I called ADT which we have been with for several years I was informed that I would have to pay off my contract I only have six months left I know have no income because I have no business I had the Internet turned off at the business and now Adt can’t even monitor my business and they still want me to pay off a contract we have had problems from the very beginning with ADT I would not recommend them to anyone for home or business they are a horrible despicable company who steal from people The ADT specialist I talked to today kept trying to get me to go with a different contract agreement that was only $10 cheaper than what I am already paying we have had two break-ins since we’ve had ADT the cameras caught it but we nor the police were informed about the break-ins until we got to our business the next day we found out. I honestly would give this company a zero star rating if I could Do not do business with this company find some small mom and pop company to do business with you will be better off and the service will be much better

I wish I had done more research before getting involved with this company. I didn't realize I wasn't involved with ADT directly. This company sent a tech out, sets you up, signs the paperwork and says you're done. Then, two months later, they call me repeatedly to tell me about another $400 I owe. When I call back, they can't find it and tell me to not worry about it. This goes on for 4 months. Then, a collection agent calls me. Rudely, he tells me I owe this money. When I tell him I've been told repeatedly I don't. He says since I'm refusing to pay, it will go against my credit and hangs up on me. I call the company twice because the first time I got put on hold and hung up on. This happened more than once over the course of calls during the 4 months. I finally get someone who does seem to know what they are talking about, but explains to me that this $400 charge was something the technician who installed my equipment forgot to tell me about! That's a lot of money to FORGET to tell someone about. Its not on my contract anywhere! She claims to have the form to show this balance on my account, but I've never seen it nor do I think I ever will. Unfortunately, I paid the bill for fear of having it go against my credit. I don't believe I'll ever see this receipt they claim to have, and I'm honestly sick to my stomach that I had to pay it because I know I've gotten scammed somehow. $400 isn't pocket change to me, so I hope this company enjoys stealing money from people who work hard for a paycheck and has a family to support.

Horrific company. Never ever use this company or ADT. If you want to be ripped off then choose them. Moving service will never get done and you will be without a working system but still for to pay for monitoring for three years with no functioning system. They don’t show up to do installations. Horrific

This company is useless. They lie, and nobody takes responsibility for their poor customer service. The equipment is outrageous and you pay a pretty penny for their service supposedly for ADT and they don't fix things when they aren't working and tell you well the rest of the system is working. We have had problems with the equipment since it was installed. Today was the third time they were supposed to come to fix the problem and nobody came. I called a half hour after the appointment time passed and nobody came and they said that the tech came and nobody answered the door. I was sitting on the couch with the dog's right next to the door THEY NEVER CAME period. When I told them that I knew for a fact they didn't come eventually after refuting a couple more lies then it finally came out that the tech didn't come out. The equipment has had problems ever since it was purchased and I got fed up and said they could cancel the service and get their equipment out of my house, then they said I would have to pay a cancellation fee. What a useless rip off company. ADT really should re-evaluate who they allow to be authorized dealer of their service because Defenders could care less if they lose a customers or not.

Bait and Switch: While the Revdex.com seems to give Defenders an A+ rating, the posted reviews and my own personal experience clearly do NOT JUSTIFY this rating. While I do believe that the alarm system that was installed, ultimately, is very good, the process of getting the system installed clearly was not. Once a price was agreed upon, which was more than what was suggested in setting up the installation appointment, there were significant cost increases added with the claim that the existing equipment would not work with the ADT system. Also, some of the requested protection was not included in how the system was installed, although this was ultimately resolved. In addition, we were ultimately billed for some services that I believed were NOT performed and while repeatedly requested, Defenders has never provided us with the requested verification.

Please read Reviews of Defender Security Company/ADT. I failed to do my research and I so regret it.
I didn’t realize when I signed up that I was not dealing with ADT directly. I talked to a Rep on 2/27 and had the system installed on 2/29. Should have done more research. I was 1st told my service would be $27.99, NOPE that is if you have a line land (who does anymore). Nope my bill is $53.99. Not saving any money which was the goal when I made the switch. OK fine, you worked me a “Deal on the equipment” and covered my entire home with sensors. I asked both reps can I schedule my alarm to turn and off at certain times, yes you can. Great, thank you.
8 phone calls in later and no that can’t be done unless you have our cameras. I don’t need or want your cameras. I have camera’s why do need I need to pay for more and pay a fee when I don’t correctly pay a fee. Took multiple phone calls and several reps to get me this answer.
Called to cancel and I spent an hour on the phone, to be told oh yes you can program. NO Ma’am I can’t get the program. Puts me on hold 20mins later, only to be told nope not an option.
I want to cancel oh that is a different department, another 15mins on hold. To be told I have to pay 75% of my brand new contract to cancel. WTF. Im 2 weeks into my contract, not happy at all and you want me to pay close to $1000 to cancel, plus the equipment cost. Got it.
Not happening.
They also sign you up for auto deduct and dont tell you.
This is the worse company, with the worse customer service ever.
By the way still waiting on a copy of my contract and I was never told about the you have 3days to cancel policy.
They say they have a 6month customer satisfaction NO THEY DO NOT.

Defenders Protect your home. This is a scam, never finished installing system. Keypad is lying on table, no cameras, etc., yet they call at least once a day to harrass me for final payment.

Let's start with the initial call. Yeah,they fail to tell you that your card will be charged right then an their. They fail to tell you that you must pay a $4.95 s&h for the Visa gift card.
On 2/26/20, The installer was at my house for 9½ hours. He did not have the proper equipment I requested. In addition, his tools died. So he had to use ours. We got outdoor security cameras, we live in a 2 story house, the installer comes to my house in a car... It's day 9, my outdoor camera system wires are going through my bedroom windows??.... An installer was supposed to be here on 3/4/20 between 3-5, he show's up at 6:25... Sorry, but we sent him home. Reschedule the appointment for 3/6/20, between 11-3, still no show. We call Defenders Protect Your Home, the Customer Service Rep. Cancelled our appointment, but reopened a new ticket, resulting in a new customer being put in front of my time slot.
Calling Defenders Protect Your Home, the customer service representatives are very rude.
Why did ADT merge with them is beyond me. However, it's giving ADT a VERY BAD REPUTATION!

I'm shocked at the horrible service of ADT and Protect Your Home. I've been promised equipment and have had 3 different service calls to install a system. The first call they didn't have the promised equipment that was agreed to over the phone with the customer sales rep. The second call they still didn't have the right equipment but the technician hooked up one controller and left all the other peripheral equipment in my laundry room (yes, that other equipment has a cost and wasn't free!), uninstalled and said he would come back the following week to finish the install. He never called or set up a return appointment. Found out he quit the company after only being there a few weeks - not a good sign. Then, a 3 technician comes out and only has 1 right controller (there should have been two), but he couldn't hook it up because there were too many wires in the wall and he didn't know how to install the new unit. I called to cancel and return the system, as this has just been frustrating and I don't trust them to monitor my home when they can't even install the equipment as promised. After being transferred multiple times when I was trying to cancel I was disconnected (yeah, waste of 45 mins on the phone). Then I call back, get transferred a bunch again, only to be told I had to pay a 75% cancellation fee to end the contract. I don't even have a completed working system and now I have to pay over $800.00 to cancel and give them the equipment back?! And I was told they only have a record of 1 visit by a tech to my home! What?! Obviously their internal operations process is flawed if they can't even keep track of who they sent to my house. How can I or anyone trust that they are going to keep my house safe and secure if their internal systems and customer service is so poorly managed? I feel people should be warned and aware of my experience. They over-promise and underdeliver every step of the way. Now, I have a half working system and they want money to cancel. They are supposed to protect me and my assets, but truthfully they are cheating me and robbing me of my money via a cancelation fee.

At least 10 emails a day from this company show up in my Spam folder. All attempts to unsubscribe have been unsuccessful and an email sent to their marketing division was ignored. I experiencing the same issue as Chuck D. where the spam is all coming from the Davidson NC address. *** and any other legitimate corporations should be ashamed to associate with a company that uses an advertiser that promotes porn.

I have kids what if they take my cell phone and see those garbage on my email box?
I don’t know what to do anymore… if my mail won’t work I’m going to delete this email account.

Unprofessional and very rude! Go directly thru ADT.
Called 3 times to have charge card changed and continued to charge wrong card. Called to complain was told ADT had my contract, which was not correct. After 2 hours of being on hold and transferred to departments and back to ADT, Defenders while on the line With ADT, tells me they will take care of a new contract. Obviously frustrated I say "No, you keep putting me back to ADT and they say you have my contract. I need to talk to some one there who knows what is going on"

If you want ADT security, go thru ADT. They do have authorized dealers and iam sure most of them are trustworthy, Defenders is Not and apparently do not train well when it comes to customer service.
If you have to speak to Accounts at ADT I highly reccomend Kerwin, as he was 100% helpful and superb customer service.

If I could give the company zero stars I would. In a twelve hour period I have received 10 emails from Defenders Inc dba Protect Your Home, 3750 Priority Way South Drive, Indianapolis. I was assured by ADT that the emails would stop but they have multiplied and the unsubscribe is a failure. As Chuck D said they are being sent by the ddress 610 Jetton St Ste #1001 Davidson, NC 29036. The amount of emails from other companies and pornography from the advertiser is unsolicited, unwanted, and unacceptable. ADT needs to sever their association with Defenders Inc. A public apology is owed to all those affected by this Spam.

This company misrepresents who they are at initial sign-up. A promotion was sent out to sign-up for home security with ADT. This is false. ADT is only providing monitoring service and not able to assist you with the equipment or relocation services. ADT claims that they are working on getting rid of this company because they recognize that they receive multiple complaints about it but can't assist me. When speaking with Defenders about my issues I am told if I don't like it I can pay $XXX to get out of the contract. I feel completely mislead and frustrated that I can't call one company for a solution and when I ask to speak to a manager "there isn't one available" ever. This company doesn't defend it's clients and simply gets it's name from defending their contracts and themselves. Again, this company completely misrepresented who they were, ADT is aware of it and is selecting not to do anything about it.

This company, Defenders, Inc. dab Protect Your Home is out there using a national email advertising company that seems to specialize in pornography. I am currently getting 40 - 50 emails sent in batches of which 5 are ads for this company and the other 35 - 45 are for porn sites.
The thing all these emails have in common is the link to unsubscribe referring to the following address: 610 Jetton Street Ste 120, #1001 Davidson, NC 28036.
There is also an opt-out referring back to Protect your Home communications.
I have tried for weeks to get this to stop, but the number of emails I receive only seems to increase.
ADT and Protect Your Home needs to be more concerned with the types of companies they associate with.

This company pulls credit scores without consumer authorization. None of its documents indicate such alert or notice to such effect. This seems peculiar since it uses a customer credit card for payments.
