Review: My son and I as the co-signer took a loan from Sallie Mae. The loan is for 30,000 for one year of school. Due to health reasons, etc, my son withdrew from school and moved back to MA. He is required to pay his loan back now which we are more than willing to work with Salliie Mae on. I have called numerous times. My son is working now and wants to pay for his debt but cannot afford 360.00 a month earning minimum wage. Sallie Mae will not work with us at AT ALL ( other than suggesting a forbearance which adds further interest and makes things worse) to lower the payments so he can afford them. This is ludicrous. He is making an effort and they just won't work with us at all. I would never, ever, recommend Sallie Mae to anyone. This student loan company should not expect such high payments from children and their parents and should work with them when they want to make good on their loan and pay as much as they can.Desired Settlement: All we ask is that they lower his payment by at least 125.00 a month so he can afford it and stay in good standing.

Review: Sallie Mae received a refund from my school in August and has not credited my account to date.

During the summer semester of 2014, I took out a private Sallie Mae student loan for classes I was taking at [redacted]. I had to drop a course, which decreased the amount of student loans I was allowed by federal law. I repaid the loan to my school who refunded it to Sallie Mae on 08/25/2014 and to date, Sallie Mae has not credited my account and is instead, continuing to charge accrued interest and incorrectly reporting the balance on my credit report. Sallie Mae customer service claims to have never received a refund even though my school carbon copied me on the letter and check sent to Sallie Mae. In addition, my school informed me that Sallie Mae sent the refund BACK to them instead of crediting it to my account.

During the Summer semester of 2014, I took out a private Sallie Mae student loan for classes I was taking at [redacted]. Due to a family emergency, I had to drop a course, which decreased the federal limit of student loans I was eligible for. My school invoiced me $1,869 which I paid on 07/31/2014 and they in turn refunded to Sallie Mae with check# [redacted] to Sallie Mae Operations Finance Check Processing [redacted] on 08/25/2014. To date, Sallie Mae has failed to credit my account and when I contacted them, they claimed to have never received a refund. I contacted the Director of Financial Aid for [redacted] who confirmed that the refund was sent to Sallie Mae but Sallie Mae refunded it back to the school instead of my account. During this time, Sallie Mae is continuing to accrue interest on a balance that was already paid by the borrower and is violating the FCRA by reporting a balance higher than that of which I am responsible for.Desired Settlement: Sallie Mae needs to immediately process the refund to my account AND remove the accrued interest of the balance dating back to the date that I paid it back: 07/31/2014. In addition, Sallie Mae needs to correct their credit reporting to accurately show the amount that is owed OR remove their credit reporting for this trade line completely.

My number is in the do not call data base but I continue to get harassing phone calls.Desired Settlement: STOP CALLLING!

Review: I just contacted Sallie Mae, as I have done a couple times in the past months. I'm trying to work with them on the payment that I due owe them pertaining to my student loans. I have made payments but I found myself unemployed beginning in June (I did a long term sub as a teacher last year but it wasn't permanent), but thankfully I found a job that began in August. I did make a rather large payment to them about that same time but, because I didn't have a job and I have a family of four, I couldn't pay them what they wanted. I completed a financial statement with them several months ago and again yesterday. The man I spoke with on the phone today said that he couldn't help me after offering to begin making $200 payments in November. He stated that if I couldn't do anything in the next 4 days then he couldn't do anything for me. Furthermore, Sallie Mae is beginning to call my relatives, my husband's relatives, and my husband's employment. I'm afraid that this may cause my husband to lose his job (an email from his director was sent out in a mass email that said to get this situation handled). I'm trying to pay them back and I've told them that this is what I can afford right now but the man told me if I can't do anything in the next 4 days then he can't help me.Desired Settlement: I would like them to quit harassing our extended family (including ex-wives!) and employment places, and accept the $200-$250 a month that I've asked if I can pay them beginning in November. This can even be taken out of my bank account automatically each month.

Review: Sallie Mae is dishonest and continually reneges on agreements and assurances they have made to me and my son in regards to our loan account. In 2012 I cosigned a student loan for my son [redacted]. On several occasions throughout this time Sallie Mae has made assurances to me and/or my son that the loan would be placed in deferment until he graduated from school only to be notified one or two months later that the account is delinquent. This has developed into a pattern of dishonesty and deceit. Between the approximate dates of June 2015 July 2015 I contacted Sallie Mae on two separate occasions. During these calls I spoke to two separate representatives who advised me that because [redacted] Jr is still in school and only on summer break that we are not liable to make full loan payments. They advised that we would still only be liable to make the interest only payments. At that time I made a payment of $165 which the representative advised is the amount of the interest only payment required. On July 31, 2015 I contacted Sallie Mae for a third and last time because of a delinquent payment notice. The initial representative I spoke to advised me that I am now 2 months delinquent on the cosigned account in the amount of over $700. The rep acknowledged that my payment of $165 was received but the account is not in an interest only payment status. I was then referred to her supervisor [redacted] (employee# [redacted]). [redacted] tells me that the representatives I spoke to on previous dates were mistaken in telling me that my son and I are only required to make interest only payments. [redacted] advised that my account will remain delinquent unless the $700 is paid. She also notified me that the $300+ a month is our required payment. Once again Sallie Mae reneged on information and assurances made.Desired Settlement: Billing Adjustment and correction to my credit report. Account should be placed in an interest only payment status or an in-school deferment status until graduation in 2017/2018. I also wish to be removed from the account as a cosigner.

Review: First call to Sallie Mae on 10/22 regarding improper posting of payments to loans. They installed a new system and had some problems on or around 10/13. Payment was made prior to due date of 10/9. Was assured they would send correction to be made within 2 days to show we were current on both loans. Received numerous calls from Sallie Mae again (recordings). Called again and spoke to c/s rep #70476 where they confirmed our previous call and request to re-appropriate prior payment correctly and not show we were past due on loan #2. Continued to receive calls from company. Called again (third time) on 11/18 and was told a second time where they saw the request was made for correction but it still was not done. Received bill for month of December showing we are past due...still. Attempted to call for the 4th time, was on hold for 60 minutes without anyone answering, so I am sending this complaint. I cannot find a place on their website to file a complaint.Desired Settlement: Correct our bill and previous payment as to not show our account delinquent. We have never missed a payment.

Review: I have been working since I got out of school in June, 2014. I took out loans to help pay off my two study abroads as well as my entire senior year of college. When it came around to paying off, I didn't get paid enough to pay off an almost 1,000 dollar payment. I continued to have to put in money towards forbearance BECAUSE I didn't get paid enough. After getting two of my loans paid off (thanks to a family member who decided to help me), I still owe almost $400 dollars a MONTH. I've called multiple times, throughout my forbearance, and was told I could only change my payment type when I owed money. THusly, when I DID call to change my payment type, they told me I couldn't change it, and that the only way I could change it is to put into forbearance. Likewise, the forbearance costs money that doesn't go towards the interest OR the main payment, and I already owe more than $3,000 dollars just because of said forbearance.Likewise, my cosigner (mother) cannot help pay towards my loans, as we are both in financial difficulty. I've been trying to fix this since JANUARY of 2015, and Sallie Mae has yet to work WITH me to allow me to pay them.Desired Settlement: I want Sallie Mae to WORK with me so that I can PAY them what I can, whether it's one hundred dollars or whatever is in my current budget with work. I qualify for a pay as you earn loan repayment plan with other companies, why don't they do that for people who are clearly in financial difficulty?

Review: I have a payment agreement with Sallie Mae for my school loans. I am currently in compliance with this payment agreement and am not behind on the payments. Every morning at 5:00 am, Sallie Mae calls me regarding my school loans. My address is current with them, so they are aware that I am on Pacific Time, even if I wasn't, they would still be calling at 8:00 am. Also, there is no reason for them to be calling me since I am up to date with all payments, and have been for several months. This is harassment, and I have even answered the phone and told them what time it is, they just hang up.Desired Settlement: If this continues, I will be contacting a lawyer, it's ridiculous.

Review: I applied for 2 student loans $10000 and $3000 from Sallie Mae in 2014 . The loans were disbursed to the College in September 2014. I received a check from the school for the Fall 2014 to cover tuition and other expenses. The remaining $6500 went over to Spring 2015 for disbursement. I completed my course in December 2014 and requested from the College to return funds to Sallie Mae. I have made numerous calls to Sallie Mae advising me that they have not yet received funds from the College.I have communicated through several emails and was advised that the funds ($6500) were indeed returned to Sallie Mae on Feb 19, 2015. I have made several calls to Sallie Mae speaking to three different representatives in one call who advised me that the funds are not there and I should make contact with the school (it is my responsibility not theirs and there is nothing they can do but wait for 10 business days which has already elapsed). I have started payment on the loan and is being charge $13000 plus interest on a loan that I have received only 1/2 of the money. Please help.Desired Settlement: I would like to repay my student loan for the amount that was truly disbursed and not for a fictitious amount and be credited for the additional interest that has been accrued and is being charged.

Review: For years Sallie Mae educational Loan company has been servicing my two son's school loans without incident. This past July, they split into two different companies, SallieMae and Navient. Since that time I have had severe problems with the websites. Both boys now have a SallieMae and Navient account because they split the loans into two. Instead of keeping a person with one company, they split the loans into dates and if you were unfortunate enough to be in college at the time of the company split, you have now TWO accounts. I am on the phone with both companies at least monthly because the website locks the account for "too many attempts". Each month, I have to reset a new password for all four accounts (two for each boy) when I want to pay our payment. Since July, I have been put through hell because of the damn website! I have faithfully been on time with my accounts for years and this website issue has been the last straw!

Tonight I lost it on the customer service rep. I paid my loans for the month of February. For the past three days, I have been harassed by SallieMae because I "missed" payment for both accounts. This morning, I inquired because I paid the accounts and explained that I paid but I would look into it tonight when I got home from work. The rep was kind and understanding. Tonight, I went to the website and used my written down username and password and it came up with the same "login failure due to too much activity". So I called SallieMae once more. I explained that I was told about two accounts that were not paid and that I was again having problems with the website. After a 10 minute tirate on my problems with the website, the poor man said that "No, you are not the only person having problems with the website". He then told me that there was only one account that was deficient--why was I told two earlier in the day?

I requested and was promised a paper copy of everything. I have had so many problems since the company split that I am done and refuse to use the website again. I have talked to managers and customer service reps on a monthly basis. There is a problem with the website and it does not get fixed. All my sons' information is on this website with my bank information and I am told "others have had problems too". I cannot trust a website that has multiple problems that no one does anything about. I want anyone that will listen not to use this company if they can't control the website. I want them to FIX the website and be transparent for the issues with the number of people affected.Desired Settlement: Remove all late fees

Review: Sallie Mae continues to harass me whether I pay the bill I owe them or not. They call no matter what time of day it is. I received a phone call at midnight one day and another day I received a phone call at 8am even though I paid the bill. The customer service representative was nasty and said they can call me whenever they wanted. They are even calling me on Sunday when they are closed. I am tired of receiving these phone calls at all hours of the day when I owe them nothing and you have to give them a phone number to have on file.Desired Settlement: I would like them to revise their telephone system and stop contacting me when:

a) I owe them nothing

b) they are closed Sunday and they have no right to call me at 8 in the morning.

Review: I paid my last student loan off on 12/31/14. On January 10, 2015 Sallie Mae took a payment from my bank account that they were not entitled to, in the amount of $81.35. I called them on January 11, 2015 to request a refund. I was told it would be returned with two weeks. It is now February 24, 2015, and I called Sallie Mae today and they have never processed the refund and have no excuse as to why the refund has not processed. They state it will take 7-10 business days to research this and another 5-7 days to process the refund. The website shows a credit balance of $81.35, and nothing owed on my accounts. Why is this allowed? Stealing money you are not owed, being called on it and six weeks later still no action to return the stolen funds. We ask them why this is and they can provide no actual reason why they still have my money. I paid off my student loans in full within six months of graduating, years before they were due, and this is how they repay that dedication, stealing my money.Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: No settlement requested - for

I would like Sallie Mae to be taken to task for this. If you are too big an operation to right your wrongs, you shouldn't be in business and should be fined for stealing. I have tried filing a claim with my bank and they have denied the claim since Sallie Mae is too big an operation to mess with. I will stay on them until I have my money back, but I would like a reprimand issued to Sallie Mae.

Review: I cosigned a student loan for my son in the fall of 2013. I began making small interest payments online. This fall they had some trouble I would go in and make my payment on time online but somehow the payment got reversed. They called me and I spoke to them they told me what happened and I went online while on the phone with a representative and made the payment. Only later to find out that was also reversed. Still trying to correct it and made payments over the phone. Each time I am assured by their representatives that everything is fine. All is taken care of and that I have nothing to worry about. Then I receive another phone call a few weeks later that I've been reported to the credit bureau because their website wasn't working and this guy took another payment over the phone and reassured me if I write a letter to their credit reporting agency and explain about the mix up that they will remove the report. I did as he said they sent me a letter declining my request and that their decision stands. Due to this error on their website my credit is destroyed. There are thousands and thousands of complaints against Sallie Mae but they don't seem to be held accountable for their actions. They have incompetent agents reassuring you when nothing has been taken care of just to get you of the line. After my maybe twentieth phone call yesterday a girl tells me that I needed to go in and delete my bank information and put it in again and that's why after three months I was given an answer for why the payments were being reversed. I asked her for the phone transcripts of all the phone calls I made all the payments I have made to dispute this. She says, sorry those are for our records. Why couldn't one agent tell me this bit of information in the very beginning instead of telling me everything was okay. Why would I stop making payments after one year of only twenty six dollars and thirty six cents, does that make any sense. I am reporting them here for incompetent service and practices. They have destroyed countless peoples lives by reporting them to the credit bureau when their own business was at fault with their bad customer service telling consumers that everything is fine. They need to be penalized and their business scrutinized for hurting peoples credit and affecting their lives so drastically. There needs to be action taken against them, they are hurting consumers nationwide. I will never in my entire life to do business with Sallie Mae and I will make a point of telling every person I come across not to get loans from them which includes son's friends at his university and all his friends at universities in different states and for them to tell their friends until they feel an impact. I have another son ready to go to college in another year I will be sure to speak at his high school warning future college students parents of their horrible business practices. I will make it my business to attend the meeting and college fair every year for juniors and seniors to let them know if there is one company to steer clear of it is Sallie Mae for their student loans.Desired Settlement: I would like the delinquent account report taken off my credit report because I made my payments on time your system reversed them, accept your mistake.

Review: My son applied, paid for and was approved for forbearance on his student loans on October 10, 2014. Since that time Sallie Mae has not correctly reflected that status in his account and call multiple times a day to state that the account is past due. These are automated calls and instruct me to call the cr or to sign in and check my account. As a cosigner I began calling Sallie Mae on November 10th to get the account to be accurately reflected. I've been told numerous times that the account is in forbearance, however, I continue to receive automated phone calls stating that the account is past due as well as correspondence of the same. I even made the payment on the account at that time to bring it current, even though I didn't need to do that. The last time I spoke to someone was November 24th and since then I have been unable to get through on ANY customer service number even though I'm calling almost every other day. On the 24th I was assured that I would receive a notification reflecting the forbearance once it was through their compliance department. I have NOT received any such documentation. When I call the customer service numbers I can't get through to an agent and I'm put on hold for times in excess of 25 minutes (at which time I terminate the call). The automated collection calls are received throughout the day and after the customer service department is closed. I don't understand what service my son paid for since we've spent nearly the last 2 months trying to get this corrected as I'm concerned what it will do to my credit rating. I feel that the treatment that we've received is appalling.Desired Settlement: As a resolution I want the account to be in forbearance for the agreed upon three months as per the agreement that my son applied for; however this would be from the date of the Revdex.com resolution and the three months following. The original forbearance was to be through January 3rd and I think it should be three months from resolution. I want the collection calls to stop for both my son and myself and I want our credit rating to show that the account is in good standing and is not past due as Sallie Mae stated on their last correspondence to me which I received on December 1st. Thank you.

Review: Was charged $20.00 for "RETURNED CHECK CHG" on 9/22/15. For whatever reason their website did not updated my auto payment information and charged my old account even though I updated the information well in advance of the due date. Sallie Mae refused to do anything and stated I still need to pay the $20.00 fees as they cannot remove the fees. I initial called them regarding the fees and was told there weren't any fees. I called again on 10/21/15 after seeing the fees again, these time, a female representative told me there was a fees and she cannot remove it because she doesn't know the reason why my check was return.Desired Settlement: remove the $20.00 or refund if I had already paid for it through their "auto payment" plan.

Review: On 7/31/2015 I cancelled the auto-debit payments that I had set up for my sallie mae student loan in anticioation of closing the checking account from which the funds were debited. The website indicated it may take up to three days to process the request. On 7/31/2015 I also made a manual payment of $439 towards my loan which far exceeds the $87 monthly payment. On 8/14 I received a notice from [redacted] indicating that a debit had been made from my account. I verified on the sallie mae and [redacted] websites that a auto debit was made on 8/11. At this time I used the links to request cancellation of the auto debit a second time, I followed up with a phone call to customer service inquire why it had not been initially processed, and to request that the funds be returned as the transaction was not authorized. the representative that I with whom I spoke was unable to provide any information at all and was unable to provide me with information for whom to contact to resolve the issueDesired Settlement: I would like the amount of the unauthorized auto debit transaction from 8/11 returned to the [redacted] account.
