Stellar Recovery, Inc. Reviews (387)

My husband keeps getting calls from ###-###-#### on his cell phone. He does not share his cell number, so how would they even get it? They call all the time. We together, nor he alone does not have debt. This is harassment and we want it to stop. How?

An error by a company and my name sent to them for a payment I made and they did not credit. The man I spoke with at Stellar several times was RUDE and did not care that a mistake had been made. Only thing was constant threat to report it to credit agency. RUDE, RUDE, RUDE. Good luck if you have to deal with them.

Review: I have recently received my credit report and I noticed that there was a collection account open with this company with an opened date of July 2014 and a report date of September 2014. I have not received any statement or bill about this. If I didn't check my credit then I would have not known about it. They also have not tried to contact me via phone. Not knowing where this bill came from In that time period, I took it upon myself to contact them. I asked where this came from and they said they couldn't help me unless I verify one of the addresses they had. One was my ex husband's address that was a completely I'm a different state. Luckily I knew that one. They then proceeded to tell me that the collection was from a [redacted] bill dated back in 2012! But they have been reporting it as 2014. They are not supposed to do that. Now on my credit report it looks like it's a new debt which it is not! My score dropped drastically because of this. Apparently my ex husband didn't pay the last months bill and I had no idea about it. I did offer to pay it and they claimed it will no longer be a collection on my report within 48 hours. It's still there. So that along with the open/report date is completely inaccurate along with not even trying to contact me is wrong. Every time I call To get questions answered they are not helpful at all. I felt pressured to pay regardless of their mistakes. They have yet to send me a receipt. They said just check my bank account. Not professional.Desired Settlement: I want this deleted off of my credit report due to their reporting mistakes.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Regards,

Review: I have called and spoken with representatives and left 2 messages for managers at this collection agency. I cannot get a callback, and they have not corrected the problem. The last call I made was in JUNE 2014 and still, nothing has been done. They allege that I owe on an old [redacted] bill from June 2012. When I contacted [redacted] directly, they confirmed that I paid off the account September 24th and there is no equipment due (as Stellar recovery claims) with a ZERO balance. Stellar recovery is trying to claim $335.00 and has been negatively reporting this to my credit! This is NOT "Stellar" service. Not removing this and hurting my credit and not calling me back to fix the problem- POOR service.Desired Settlement: I request that they fix the problem! I have given them plenty of time and the info to do so, with no success. They can confirm my complaint and that 1 owe ZERO dollars, by simply calling 1-800-[redacted] and speaking with the collections dept there.

Stellar Recovery is in receipt of a complaint filed by [redacted]. On 06-07-2012, our office did receive a past due file by [redacted] for an [redacted] for services at [redacted] for services and equipment. On 05-31-2013, we received a letter demanding validation of the file. The file was put on hold and validation documents were ordered from [redacted]. On 07-15-2013, our office received validation documents and we mailed out statements we received from our client to the address on file. Our records further show on 09-24-2013, [redacted] informed us that a payment had been received for the service on this file of $74.62, there was no notification of return of equipment On 04-18-2014, our records show we spoke with the consumer and she informed us that the equipment had been returned and the balance had been paid for the service for this file. ,We contacted [redacted] on the equipment issue and they responded on 4-22-2014 - "all equipment was returned on 7-6-11 and the last payment of $74.62 to clear the balance was made on 09-23-2013, account should be paid in full, customer claim is correct." The file was then marked as paid in full, and all credit reporting was ordered deleted as of 4-22-2014. Although we show credit reporting has been deleted, we did request another manual request for deletion in case there has been an error made by the credit reporting agencies on this file. The file is closed and has a zero balance due.

I have reviewed my credit report/dispute and I see that it was finally deleted as of yesterday 9/30/2014. This is in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Regards,

Review: Stellar Recovery reported to my Transunion credit report without sending me a notice via mail nor did this company contact me by phone. Also the original creditor Comcast has been paid in full. The amount reported is also wrong. This collection agency reported false information on my credit report and since then, my credit score dropped 28 points.Desired Settlement: I want this negative remake from my credit report removed immediately. I have also filed a complaint with the CFPB regarding this collections agency and Comcast.

Stellar Recovery is in receipt of a complaint filed by [redacted]. Our records indicate that a file was placed in our office by Comcast on 9-21-2015 in the name of [redacted] (SS# ending in [redacted]) for services at [redacted]. Stellar Recovery shows that a demand letter was mailed to this address on 9-26-2015. We also show that 2 phone calls were made to the number given in the complaint of [redacted]. We have contacted Comcast and they indicate that a balance is due on this file in the amount of $57.63. We have updated the address to [redacted] and have mailed copies of invoices supplied by Comcast for this amount. We have placed the file on hold and have deleted the credit reporting while the consumer has the opportunity to review the invoices mailed to her today. Although we did attempt to contact the consumer by phone and by mail regarding this file, Stellar is a data furnisher and is not required to notify the consumer prior to placing this on her credit, that responsibility is by the original creditor. Our records show that 8-17-2015 invoice, the following statement was placed on the bill from Comcast - "if the balance remains unpaid and/or equipment is not returned, your account may be placed with a collection agency and reported to the credit bureaus." Ms. [redacted] can review the Comcast documents and is welcome to either Contact Stellar Recovery or Comcast regarding this file.

Revdex.com,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

My last name is not [redacted] and this collections agency did not contact me by phone nor by mail. Also this bill is paid in full as of 11/07/2015. If such bills were mailed, I would like some type of proof and also if phone calls were made by stellar I also would like to see proof. At no time did Comcast or Stellar advise me that my account was in collections. Again this account is paid in full. The amount in full was $57.63 not $58.00 which is the amount reported by Stellar.

Stellar Recovery is in receipt of additional concerns from [redacted]. The name of [redacted] is the name supplied by Comcast for this file, we do not have control over the name received. Phone calls to [redacted] were made on 10-22-2015 at 1:26pm and on 11-05-2015 at 4:34pm, these calls are documented on the permanent collection file , the phone number was provided by Comcast as the contact phone number. A letter was sent to the address of record for the file on 09-26-2015 and again is documented on the permanent collection file (the address given by Comcast was [redacted]). The amount due on this file is $57.63, the credit reporting agencies do round up the amount per their policy and it would report at $58.00. Stellar Recovery has this file on hold pending notification from Comcast that the file is paid in full.

Again my last name is not [redacted] and also, I contacted Comcast and provided them with my forwarding address which was [redacted]. I received a bill from Comcast in OCT 2015 at this particular address which did not say my bill was forward to a collection agency, nor did the lady that handles the FTC complaints that I filed against Comcast. (I have copy's of my bills ) Also I went through my phone records and do not have any calls from Comcast nor Stellar Recovery on the dates provided. I received copy's of my Comcast bills and only my Comcast bills from Stellar Recovery today 11/13/2015 to my home address of [redacted] which has a bill date of 09/19/2015 which shows my bill paid in full not amount owed, however, Stellar recovery reported $58.00 on my credit report. I have filed a complaint with the CFPB regarding Comcast and stellar recovery. I am requesting Stellar Financial Permanently delete this from my credit report and also a letter sent to me saying that this negative remark has been removed from my credit report within from today 11/13/2015, If this is not done, I will contact a Attorney for violating the FDCPA law and defamation of character.

Review: Stellar has a collection on my file that does not belong to me

Stellar is reporting a collection with original creditor [redacted]. I have never conducted business with neither of these companies and have made sent several certified return receipt letters to them and I have gotten confirmation that they have received and they have blatantly ignored my request. In my letters I have requested the following.

*Itemized statement of all charges and credits on the above mentioned account from the date the account was allegedly opened to current date to substantiate the amount that you are attempting to collect

*Proof of assignment of the alleged debt from the original creditor, or proof of your purchase of alleged debt from the original creditor

*Statement confirming that no part of this debt was paid by an insurance claim or used as a write off for taxation purposes

*Provide a copy of an original executed contract that contains my signature, where I agreed to this debt.

I do not have the account number but my social security number is[redacted]Desired Settlement: To immediately remove the account from my file

Review: I was notified by my Credit Monitoring Service, that this collection agency placed a derogatory item on my credit reports.

I was notified by my Credit Monitoring Service, that this collection agency placed a derogatory item on my credit reports. The outstanding debt is dated June 2013 in the amount if $97. I have not been contacted by this company prior to marring my credit report in clear violation of Federal Law. I have no information regarding this alleged debt nor was I given an opportunity to state so prior to them violating my rights.Desired Settlement: I would like the information that they illegally placed on my credit report removed immediately. Letter to such sent to my address to confirm said deletion.

Response:

Stellar Recovery is in receipt of a complaint filed by [redacted]. We did receive a past due [redacted] billing in the name of [redacted] for services at [redacted] on 04-25-2013. We also did report this information to the Credit Reporting Agencies. Under the FCRA, Stellar is considered a Data Furnisher as we supply credit information from a 3rd party, namely [redacted]. Stellar is essentially an extension of the creditor under the basic agency and does not have to provide the same notice as the original creditor has provided notice before assignment that they may report information on the accounts to credit bureaus regarding late payments, missed payments or other defaults. When contact is made, we do send out a letter that also has the Notice B-1 reporting document included in the demand letter. We did speak with this consumer on 06-21-2013, based on that conversation, the file was closed as disputed and the information was forwarded to [redacted]. We have ordered deletion to all credit reporting agencies, which is our policy with any dispute.

Review: Stellar Recovery contacted me via letter that I received on 9/30/2013 for the first time. I called on 10/01/2013 because it was also placed on my credit report. I informed them I would be sending a letter to validate the debt. This account had already been deleted off my credit report once before due to the previous company failing to provide proof of validation. Stellar has put this on my credit without even allowing me to get the information first and them validating the debt to me.Desired Settlement: I would like for this to be deleted of my credit until the debt has been validated which is what the fair credit reporting act states.

On 08-26-2013, our office did receive a charged off file from [redacted] in the name of [redacted] for services at [redacted] and dates back to Aug of 2011. We show that a letter was mailed to the consumer on 09-22-2013 to [redacted], this letter would have the validation information for this file and the procedure for requesting the validation. It appears we spoke with the consumer on 09-20 and she had indicated to our agent that she wished to speak with [redacted] directly regarding this file. We also show that we spoke with the consumer again on 10-01 and she was indicated that we had reported the information to the credit reporting agencies and she wanted it removed. The agent placed the file in validation status based on the conversation with Ms. [redacted]. The client has indicated that validation is not avaialble for this file. Our policy is close and return a file that can not be validated by the client. This file has now been returned to [redacted] and information that Ms. [redacted] has furnished has been enclosed in the return. We have ordered AUD deletion of the file to all credit reporting agencies, the confirmation number is [redacted] dated 10-02-2013. If Ms. [redacted] has any future questions regarding this file she can deal with [redacted] directly at [redacted].

Review: Congratulations! You're the first to review this placeStellar Recovery Inc Jacksonville, FL they pose to be in ft myers but that is a fake. Quality Poor - Fairthis company is in violation of US law with collections. they are required to remove numbers they are calling and ONLY use the mail to send out correspondence. but even if you ask politely to remove the number they still use AUTO DIALERS to call to harrass people. they also buy local numbers to make it seem like they are in your town.. which they are not. This company should be sued and closed down for ILLEGAL collection practices. I am contacting the Revdex.com and my Senator for Florida plus the Senator for MT where they are actually located. Alot of good people have collection issues and are protected by the laws of the Unites States not to be harrassed at all hours of the night. The people that work for this company are rude , obnoxious and ignorant. Half the time the autodialers disconnect and there is no one even there to pick up the phone. They need to learn the laws of collections and then maybe someone would respond to their calls. I wish I could report the call.. but they have underhandedly bought phone numbers that are impossible to trace. [redacted]Desired Settlement: remove my phone by law from the auto dialer list. send a final offer to my address which my attorney will evaluate. No matter what I say to this company they harrass at all HOURS of the night calling with auto dialers. they lie about all their actions.. "it takes 72 hours to remove your number by law" well 7 days ago is more than 72 hours. Just remove and mail offer . stop harrassing me.. thanks [redacted]

Stellar Recovery is in receipt of a complaint filed by [redacted]. On 10-08-2012, our office did receive a past due billing in the name of [redacted]. The phone number of ###-###-#### has been called by our dialer on several occasions since that date with no contact made with the consumer until 05-13-2013, on this call, Mr. [redacted] indicated that he wanted us to cease calls and wanted a letter sent to him. He was advised that he needed to send us a cease and desist letter and that we had sent several letters to the addres we have on file on 10-08-2012, 10-10-2012 and 01-17-2013. All calls that were made to this consumer were within the time calls are allowed by the FDCPA. The phone was removed today, when Mr. [redacted] called into our office, he was very loud and refused to take contact information from the Agents who he spoke to. Stellar has offices in Montana and Florida. His phone number has been removed, the file has been closed as cease and desist and returned to our client. As we have chosen to close this file, no additional calls or letters will be sent. Stellar Recovery works with hundreds of consumers each day to work out arrangments on payments that are past due, our intent has always been to work with those that will accept our help and assistance and return any file where the consumer is not cooperative or doesnt have the ability of re-payment.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

This business makes up what they want:

This is NOT A TRUE account of the events at all in addition the phone calls were LOUD and ABUSIVE in their tone and words plus they hang up anytime I asked for them to remove my number.

There response for the last 6 months whenever I spoke to them was to hang up mid call and never remove my number.

After 6 months the calling became so abusive that I had to finally contact the Revdex.com for help so others in Florida are not treated by this abusive illegal company the same way.

These are the responses to what they said:

1- Its funny that they now said in their properly worded statement from a lawyer that they followed the law.

2- I had to call 3 x in 7 days to get them to stop calling by law which they are bound to. The 3rd time they said some BS like it takes 72 hours to remove a number. It was 6 days from the first removal request.

6 x 24 is more than 72 hours by many days.

3- In 6 months I had answered their incessant calls numerous time and asked them to remove my number and they never did anything. It was as if I never called . They never one time in 6 months followed the US Law and their auto prompts say to remove this number push # and that never did anything. Why have an option on voice prompts if it is just ignored?

4- They are using an auto dialer to make the random calls at all hours of the day or night and never is there a person that answers when I try to talk to them unless I wait on the line 30-60 seconds. I pretty sure this auto dialer use with no pickup is a violation to the Do NOT call laws of the United states of America.

5- The rep then the manager were very degrading with their words and used profanity many timing telling me that i'm a horrible person and a low life for getting myself in a financial bind. That is not acceptable by law.

6- 75% of what I may owe is illegal or absorbent interest charges so all I ever asked for was the final cost and my lawyer will contact them at that point.

7- They are fraudulent in using local 239 numbers when they have no office even close to where I reside even though they say they work in my town.

Bottom line I hope these sg voice violaters get in a credit card problem themselves one day and have another sg company like themselves attack them. They don't understand the law when I say remove this number and mail me a final offer THEN not to call all hours of the night and weekends too. I asked and replied to their auto commands over and over to remove my number for 6 months. Their use of fraud and trickery is nauseating. I will be filing legal action against them with an attorney for their actions which does not follow the law in Florida and the US .

I asked politely to

1- remove my number by law

2- mail me final offer by law

3- then speak to my lawyer after that

4- stop cursing at me and talking down and insulting me over and over

5- stop using an auto dialer where no one is on the end of the line

6- when I finalize the payment I will pay the credit card bank directly so this company never sees one dime of the money.

This company should have nasty reviews on Google and YELP and anywhere else I can find them. I will also report them to the state of Florida for legal action.

Sincerely [redacted]

Please post this on the Revdex.com site in FLORIDA and MT

Response:

This statement by Stellar is just not true and has no facts. They were rude and defamatory whenever I spoke with them. They called me a "loser"many times and degraded my character. They never removed the number from the system for 6 months or so when I used the automated system which asks if you want this number removed. When I did talk to them that hung up without every confirming my removal of the number. Only when I brought this matter to the Revdex.com 's attention did they say we are removing the number which by law they waited 7 days to remove when they said it takes 72 hours. Its humorous but telling and convicting that they never did anything they said until I reported Stellar to the Revdex.com. I consulted my lawyer that told me they have numerous complaints against this company and researched that there are more than a few situations from research that are the same scenario as mine. They did not do anything they said they would. They violated the law and harrassed me repeatly. When I used their system to remove my number they never removed it. When I finally called to complain they harrassed me and always yelled and hung up before they would do anything. When I called back and said I have rights to have my number removed they once again degraded my character and told me I was a deadbeat and loser. Now that I have reported them and given the facts they are so happy to remove my number and return the file to the debtor. Why now? They harrassed me day and night for 6 months. I hope this helps others also that they do this to and I will make sure people find the facts about this awful company. They don't follow the law and they try to violate people to get them to pay.

I owe something but I have the right to have my phone removed and also to not be degraded by their horrid training methods they impose. Each person I spoke with had the same resolve and manner .

Review: I made payment on a [redacted] bill in the amount of $344.26 on April 30th I asked for a receipt or confirmation of payment not a debt free letter. I was told a couple of times "legally" they couldnt provide one for me until 30 days after payment was made. I called back and was told that its company policy not "a law" like they said, but if I would have made payment through their website I would have been able to print out a receipt. so I asked whats the difference on making a payment online or through an actually agent. he said: "Good question". All Im asking for is something that said Ive made payment or confirmation letter with my account number or even with my name on it with the amount, maybe even whatever prints out when you make an online payment, Not a debt free letter. I've been given so many different answers and one that has yet to be answered.Desired Settlement: A confirmation of payment or receipt

Stellar Recovery is in receipt of in inquiry made by [redacted] regarding her recent payment made. On 04-30-2013, Ms. [redacted] did make a phone payment and paid off an account that had been placed in our office for collection purposes. At the time of payment with a Credit or Debit Card, the agent is able to advise the consumer with a confirmation number. Our company policy is to issue a paid in full letter after 30 days, this is done for a number of business reasons, but our agents are not authorized to release or request these letter until that time has expired. As promised, on 05-01-2013, we did notifiy the Credit Reporting Agencies that the file was paid in full and requested that deletion of the Credit Reporting be done. I asked him to stay on the line to work through this, and he restated that I was breaking the law and then hung up. I used caller ID to call back. Got a man who said he was [redacted] was very helpful, identified [redacted] as [redacted], and transferred me to a supervisor. The supervisor said he was [redacted]. I explained. [redacted] said all is recorded and he would review. I encouraged him to do so. I asked him to go ahead and put [redacted] on the line so we could talk about what had just happened, the three of us together. [redacted] said that was illegal [wrong]. But I then asked [redacted] to go ahead and talk with [redacted] and call me tomorrow to resolve this. He said he couldn't do that.Desired Settlement: A call from their legal counsel to discuss what happened, and what they are going to do about it. We will go from there.

Response:

Stellar Recovery is in receipt of a Revdex.com complaint filed by [redacted]. We have listened to the recording of the call with Mr. [redacted] with our agent and Manager. Mr [redacted] wanted to stay on the phone while the manager disciplined the agent and was informed that was not possible, and he wanted a call back with resolution of the discipline for the agent. The manager attempted to diffuse the concerns Mr. [redacted] had regarding the wrong number called and as we always do, the recorded call was reviewed with the agent by the manager. The agent, in this case, was given a verbal warning and a discussion was made to emplasize the errors in not realizing this was not the consumer to whom we were attempting to make a call. Mr. [redacted] can be assured that our internal auditing procedures are extensive and our intent is make sure our agents are handling all situations within the quidelines that are set by State and Federal statutes. We do apologize for any inconvienience this may have caused, the employee has been counseled on proper procedure and the necesity to ensure we are speaking with the consumer who we are trying to contact.

Response:

I would like to talk about this with the appropriate representative from the business. They are not recognizing that their employee intentionally lied to me, fabricated information, and then falsely accused me of breaking the law. I also want to know from what source they seem to think I am associated with the debtor they are looking for. I think that source needs to be alerted that they have incorrect information. So I want a phone call from a responsible person with the company, preferably their legal counsel or senior level business person. That is what I asked for in the first place, and why I reject their incomplete response of what transpired. ###-###-####.

[redacted], Chief Compliance Officer can be contacted by phoning ###-###-####, ext [redacted]

Review: The company first contacted me from a toll free number (###-###-####) on 5/08/2013 at 11:36am. They asked me to confirm an address I had from 8 years ago. I asked for the reason they were calling. They refused to tell me until I verified the old address. I told them. At that time they identified themselves as a collector working to collect on a [redacted] account from when I lived there. I asked if I could give her my current address so she could send a written confirmation. They said that if I didn't pay it immediately that they would negatively report it on my credit. I asked if they were threatening to report an 8 year old debt for $59.13 before allowing me to verify it. At that point she hung up on me. I called back and asked to speak with a supervisor. The male collector I spoke to said they were all in a meeting and promised to have one of them call me back. At that point I gave them my updated address and asked for written verification. He agreed to send it and then I asked that I not be called until I had a chance to verify the debt with the exception of a call from a supervisor. On 5/9/13 at 7:44pm I received a call from the same agency, but from ###-###-####. I spoke to a male collector and explained that I was waiting on a letter. He let me know that they had the wrong address so I gave him the correct one and asked that they resend the letter. I asked again to be placed on the DNC list. He was insistent that I pay now so it wouldn't be credit reported. I asked if he was seriously threatening to credit report this debt. He said that the company probably wouldn't due to the low amount of the debt. He said he would take my number out of their dialer. On 5/13/13 at 2:33pm the company contacted me again from the 630 number. As soon as I answered, they hung up. I called back to ask to be placed on the DNC again and was hung up on again. On 5/15/13 at 2:52pm another male collector called. He said he had no notes of a DNC request. He was incredibly rude and I hung upDesired Settlement: I would like this company to stop contacting me. I feel my rights under the FDCPA have been violated. They tried to continue to collect before providing verification, they have made threats that they can't / won't follow through on, and they have continued to call me after I let them know to place me on the DNC list.

Stellar Recovery is in receipt of a complaint filed by [redacted] M. [redacted] On 04-29-2013, our office did receive a past due billing from [redacted] from 2007 for services at 325 Springhill Drive, [redacted] It appears we did speak with Mr. [redacted]on 05-08-2013 and he updated the address to [redacted] and requested a validation and demand letter, this letter was sent out to this address on 05-08-2013. On 05-09-2013, an agent again spoke with the consumer and seemed to have some concern that the letter was sent to the old address and again ordered a 2nd letter to the [redacted] address, which our system documents as being sent out on 05-10-2013. Under the FDCPA validation of the debt must be in writting and collection can continue until that is received, as a result, no restrictions were made on contact, however our normal policy is to accept non-communication requests by consumers verbally. On 05-15-2013, we again spoke with Mr. [redacted] he was difficult with the agent but the phone was restricted and the account placed on hold. We do not report out of Statute accounts, which this file is and the Agents should have informed the consumer that no reporting was to done. We have also ask [redacted] for validation of this aged account and have been informed that those documents are not available. Our policy is to close and return any file that validation is not available, once requested. We have closed this file and returned it to [redacted] as of today. If Mr. [redacted]has any other questions, he is welcome to contact [redacted] in the future or [redacted] with Stellar at [redacted].com

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. However I would like it to be noted that the information they provided based on their call notes was vastly different from the calls and claims I have received. The agent who took the call on 5/9/13 explained that the new address they had on file was [redacted], not [redacted] and used that wrong address and the idea that a letter couldn't be resent for 30 days to try to force a resolution. As well, every time I requested to speak to a supervisor I was told that they were in a meeting and never received a response from one. I would strongly recommend that this business review its internal controls with regards to FDCPA compliance. One of the rules of the FDCPA is that a collector cannot threaten an action that they are not prepared to follow through with. In almost every communication, this was done. Instead of spending the money and taking the time to pursue legal action, I am satisfied with the result of sending the account back to [redacted] and receiving no further communication.

Regards,

Review: Checked my credit report and noticed I had one account in collections from Stellar Recovery Inc (File # [redacted]) regarding Comcast Account Number: [redacted]. Collection for $60 in services fees. When I originally received the collections letter in the mail in 2013, the letter stated I had 30 days to respond if I wanted to dispute the charges. I responded by written letter to dispute and was later notified by Stellar Recovery Inc that Comcast would side in my favor and no collections charges would be sought. Yet to this day, this account is still in collections on my credit report. Even yesterday I went to [redacted], went to "Payment" and entered my account number, zip code (at the time of collections) and last name, and absolutely nothing came up. So on their own website I'm not even in their system to make a payment if I wanted to which is proof they are no longer seeking this collection.

Contacted Stellar Recovery Inc on Jan 14th via email telling them to forward my a copy of judgement since it was sided in my favor and to remove the collection from all 3 major credit bureaus. Stellar Recovery never responded to my email.Desired Settlement: Remove collection from all 3 major credit bureaus immediately.

Review: I instructed Comcast to terminate my cable/internet service at the end of my prepaid billing cycle. Comcast later billed me for service beyond the end of the billing cycle. I refused to pay for service I did not use. Comcast turned the account over to Stellar Recovery, a collection company. I immediately disputed the debt within 30 days per the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act but Stellar later reported the account to the credit bureaus.Desired Settlement: Stellar Recovery should remove the $50 negative report to the credit bureaus and cease collection under this account. The account number is 12297066

Our investigation shows that a file was placed into our office by Comcast on 05-10-2015 under the name of [redacted] for services at [redacted]. Our records show that no contact has been made with the consumer since the placement of the file and we show no information received from the consumer regarding a dispute by the consumer or any credit reporting agency. Revdex.com,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Regards,

Stellar Recovery Service has been calling me every week now for at least a few weeks. This is harassment, and I want it to stop.

Review: [redacted] placed my account in collections with Stellar Recovery, Inc. First, I don't agree with the amount and my service was horrible with [redacted]. I contacted Stellar via hard copy mail and Fax within the thirty day window to verify the debt and they have not done so. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, I have the right to receive that. They have reported this debt to the credit bureaus before the debt was verified and it has damaged my credit.Desired Settlement: They should be penalized in their rating for not following the Fair Credit Reporting Act and Fair Credit Consumer laws.

Stellar Recovery is in receipt of a complaint filed by [redacted]. On 03-31-2014, our office did receive a collection file from [redacted] for services at [redacted] in the name of [redacted]. A letter was sent to the consumer on 04-11-2014. ON 05-15-2014 we did receive a letter via fax from the consumer and it was noted on the file. The letter did not request validation of the account, it clearly stated that "my account records with [redacted] may show a balance due of said amount, however, due to poor service, which was reported and complained about, I do not feel that I owe this balance." The letter goes on to say "I will be happy to entertain a settlement of some portion of $206.23, but in fairness to my unhappiness with their service, I will not pay the requested amount." Clearly, the letter received ask for a possible settlement on the file but did not give any additional contact information except the address, since that date we have attempted to contact the consumer via telephone but do not believe the numbers we have are correct numbers for contact (###-###-####). Based on the comments made to the Revdex.com, we have ordered validation of the debt and will send the documents when we receive them from our client. During the validation period, collection efforts do stop and the credit reporting is deleted. If, validation documents are not available, our policy is to return the file and close it and a closure letter will be generated.

Revdex.com,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint in full. I am sorry that Stellar Recovery did not feel my letter included a request for validation of debt. Furthermore, I have no missed calls or messages from Stellar Recovery in attempt to contact me as they mention in their response. The phone number listed is correct and I will be happy to provide my incoming phone bill to confirm this. No courteous attempt was made to resolve this issue from [redacted] or Stellar and both companies have the power to just report anything they want to credit bureaus and damage a consumers credit score. It is unfair. I hope this matter can be resolved and I have contacted [redacted] as well.

Sincerely,

Mary-Ruth Foley

As indicated in our response, we have ordered validation documents and they will be mailed to the consumer when we receive them from our client. We can also document the follow up calls that have been made to ###-###-#### if requested. The consumer is very welcome to contact [redacted] regarding this billing as well.

Review: I recieved a phone call from stellar recovery on 5/21/14 and spoke with a [redacted]. She told me that I had a debt with [redacted] cable and when I tried to explain to her that I had no idea of the debt that all I knew about was that I still had [redacted]s boxes because they never sent me return shipping to mail the boxes back to them. After this she stated that once I sent the boxes back that I would own a diffent amount than what she orginally said and wanted me to pay that amount. When I still refused because I said I had no proof that I owed anything because I had never recieved a bill from [redacted] she argued with me stating that I had recieved bills from them. Then I felt like she was harressing me about the fact that it wasnt on my credit yet but it would be. She refused to provide me with proof of the bill. I asked several [redacted]s for the bill and she told me that if I wanted a bill I needed to contact [redacted]. she was refusing to send me a bill, no itemized bill, no explanation of charges nothing. I then stated that I had no idea even if they were a legit company because that were refusing to provide me with ANY proof of anything. Then she belittled me by saying things like well you have been taking care of this by yourself for two years.... hows that working out for you?! after I told her that I felt she was harressing me I asked to speak to a manger several [redacted]s and she refused. When she finally put me "through" to a manager she came back on the phone line and said that one was not avavilable and she would have them call me back.... later that night I got a phone call from someone stating they were a manager and after several [redacted]s of asking him for an itemized bill and him refusing I asked him, how is it that you can tell me how much things are broken down but you cant send me an itemized bill? he said he wasnt responsable for providing me with it and that I needed to take action because if I paid now (WITHOUT ANY PROOF) that it wouldnt go on my credit report but if I waited that it would go on my credit and that they wouldnt be able to take it off. I said I wanted a bill and he said he could send me one that said that I owed an amount. I said so your still refusing to send me an itemized bill and then he said will if you want that then you have to wait until you get this letter and then request it.Desired Settlement: I want this company to stop contacting me. They are harrasing and be littling me and they are refusing to provide me with itemized bills after several attemps. This company needs to cease and desist and they need to not report it onto my credit. They are violating the fair debt collection pratices act!

Response:

Stellar Recovery is in receipt of a complaint filed by [redacted]. Our office did receive a file from [redacted] Cable for a [redacted] for services at [redacted] which includes both unreturned equipment charges and Services Charges. Our records indicate that an Agent did speak with the consumer on 05-21-2014 and advised Ms. [redacted] of these charges. The consumer did claim to the agent that she had never received a bill for this and still has the equipment and that [redacted] had refused to send her boxes. The agent advised that she could drop the equipment off at a [redacted] Service location and could advise of the closest location or the consumer could mail the equipment and an address could be given for that purpose. [redacted] does require the consumer to pay for the mailing of such equipment. The balance was also given to the consumer for services, less the equipment. The consumer was also advised regarding consumer credit reporting. Consumer then advised our agent that she still had never received a bill from [redacted], again, she was advised that a collection letter from us was going out, as the account had only been in our office for one day. She was also advised that she still contact [redacted] and request a bill, the consumer indicated that she was not going to contact [redacted] and requested to speak with a Supervisor. A supervisor did call Ms. [redacted] at 3:37 pm MST, during the call the consumer indicated to the manager that she still had the equpment and had not received a bill and that our agent argued with her and belittled her and had ask for a manager 5 [redacted]s. She also indicated to the manager that she refuses to pay anything until she gets an itemized bill and was advised that we are a 3rd party and clear instructions on requesting validation will be in the letter that will be mailed out and that it would require that the request be in writing, the consumer said, OK. Validation requests under the FDCPA are to be in writing, and can be requested within the 30 day period of receiving a initial demand letter from a 3rd party collection agency, our letter will clearly define the process for Ms. [redacted]. The manager did place the file on hold and did request validation for this file in anticipation of receivning her written request for documentation of the charges. Once we receive the documents, they will be mailed to the consumer for review. In review of the 2 conversations, we believe the agent could have been more customer service oriented to the consumer and both were overtalking each other at [redacted]s. The file has been put on hold until we receive verification documents on this file and the consumer should make arrangements with the client to return the equipment and receive the credit for the account when that is done.

I called Stellar Recovery yesterday (8/7/2014) regarding an old account that needed to be taken care of because of applying for a new mortgage. I spoke with [redacted], who was extremely helpful and she was able to verify that the debt was old, but it was ours. I needed to get the debt off our credit reports. That is not something that the collection agency could do immediately, as some of it is in the hands of the credit bureaus. But [redacted] told me how to get a zero balance letter pretty quickly from Stellar. I got the Non-dispute letter, notarized, and then emailed it to Stellar. Within 15 minutes, I had a zero balance letter. Turns out, with a small fee, the mortgage company can use this, instead of having to wait for the credit bureaus to clear the collection account from our reports. I really appreciated the professionalism and sense of urgency Stellar exhibited.
