Student Loan Counsel Reviews (103)

I pulled 46k calls we received since January and I was unable to find the call with the number provided. Given that all calls are recorded, if this took place it would be easy to correct. I went ahead and sent an email to the person which filed the complaint asking for an alternate number and left a...

voicemail requesting more info. Given that we do not conduct ourselves on the phone with this type of professionalism it is very likely this person called somewhere else and was mistreated, and ended up filing a complaint for the wrong company.

Client was fully reimbursed even though he signed an authorization allowing the payment to go through. Per the agreement, stating we would not be obligated to pay any additional fee other than any fee collected, in the event of cancellation, which the client signed and agreed upon, the same day...

client called and filed the complaint we reimbursed him. Client signed an agreement and credit card auth authorizing the payment, albeit in good faith, we reimbursed client.

We do not harass our clients, not really sure what you are referring to.

We have reached out to client by email and phone calls, however we have not been able to reach client in order to find a resolution for him.

I have made several attempts to contact the company to determine if they'll honor their guarantee or if the sales rep [redacted] or [redacted] will honor their word. [redacted] did say he would refund the total amount due to inaccurate information being sent to the depart of ed. my understanding is that their nature of business is fraudulent in that SLC reported that I was not employed neither had paid taxes for an entire year when the reason for consolidating was to lower payments and apply or teacher loan forgiveness programs. when I did not send tax information and requested several times to terminate the program, they forged personal information and sent it anyway. what they sent leaves me with  no real change in payments and put me into another category as far as repayment goes. i don't understand why they fail to communicate. with me and resolve the issue. especially when the error was on their part and the refund was their suggestion.

Spoke with client and we had already remitted reimbursement to her prior to putting in complaint, please close it as informational. Provided client your email so she could email you this directly. Let me know if you need anything else from me. Have a great day. Thank...

We do document preparation work.  We went over what we do with the client in writing and in a recording, stating we do the document preparation work and we DO NOT take over anyone's loans.  We prepared the document for client per her request, and based on the information client provided she was eligible to obtain a 0 repayment program, in which she has been in since February.  In this program the DOE changes client's servicer to fedloan servicing, once again, something out of our control.  SLC rendered services to client in full and we cannot reimburse client for something that was done right.

Honestly Student Loan Council did give me false information and therefor didn’t hold up to what we agreed on.  Everything that Student Loan Counsel promised did not happen!   I didn’t get anything we agreed upon as their numbers changed and they added fees that were never talked about.  From day one in May-2016 [redacted] (A representative of Student Loan Council) told me that because the Government is trying to help people pay back their student loans they have now approved forgiveness plan for full time employees.  He then said that my student loan repayment plan would be $139.00 a month for 120 months and that the rest of my loans would then be forgive.  As far as what they said about the 0 repayment for the next 12 months (this was already in place as I was in Forbearance process) so, nothing was done here.  So, I’m not sure why they are saying they did this when in fact they didn’t!! Also, I verified this information with my Federal student loan in early August, and they stated that nothing was changed or done regarding my student loans.   So, in August 2016- nothing was consolidated, nothing was moved the only thing that changed was my bank account was now negative $600.00!  When I found this out I immediately contacted Student Loan Counsel to cancel and asked for a full refund on August 5, 2016.   As far as the recording goes--Before the recording [redacted] and I talked about fees and he assured me that a portion of my $299.50 was going towards my student loans as well as filing fee.  Then after I signed with them they change my monthly payment to $350 (An amount I could never afford!!).  I want to note that Student Loan Counsel never called me or checked with me (I was the one calling in and checking to see how my paperwork was being handled and that is when I found out that my new payment plan changed from $139.00 to $350.00!   I was shocked and said that there is no way I could afford that and that's when I contacted my federal student loan to get more information about this company.  To this day I have yet to receive anything from Student Loan Counsel--absolutely NOTHING!! NOT a email or letter in the mail stating where my $600 went and what exactly they have done to help me pay back my student loan!!  Also, I don’t ever remember saying okay to an additional charge of $34 dollars per month during my conversation I had with [redacted].   I was really taken back about that and I think they played around with the recording and I also noticed that [redacted] was intentionally going quickly over the information where I was unable to spot that fee.   I again spoke to [redacted] and he confirmed that the portion of my filing fee was going to go towards my student loans and that’s why it was hired as the only reason I why agreed to it.  Also, I would like to note that on the contract it is clearly states that I have 90 days to cancel if I’m not a full-time employee, which I am not currently.  They clearly state that you must be a full time employ to qualify for this loan forgiveness and since I’m not --that alone entitles me to a full refund.  Currently I’m just doing substitute teaching (which is not full time!!) so legally they have to give me back my money for those reasons.  To review, I don’t believe Student Loan Counsel held up their bargain because: 1.     Thy lied to me about what my monthly payment would look like.2.      They never disclosed how much they were charging for filing fee!  Which according to the Government filing for Loan Forgiveness is free!3.     Also, I had no knowledge of the additional 34+-change fee that they were going to tackle on during this process.   4.     And they never let me know that if my full time employee status changed it would void or change the contract.  Thank you, [redacted]

We explained to client in agreement AND in a quality control recording that we charge a nominal fee for document preparation, and that it is not necessary to use a third party, we went over everything with client and completed all the work per as the agreement and furthermore client obtained what we...

discussed. We cannot reimburse for something that was done properly.

Your handling this very rudely after scamming me. I did not hire you for document preparation, I was under the impression you were actually doing something I could not. I did, in effect, cancel with you when I did not provide you with updated credit card information. You are still resorting to lies and misrepresentations to try and justify your actions. It only furthers my claim that you are a dishonest business.

I am unsatisfied with this resolution because they are not refunding my monies even after having claimed to me several times that they have a 100% money back guarantee-a guarantee to lower my monthly payment was implied, not simply providing paperwork.  They lied to me for if they place the blame on me for lying about my income, which is not a lie but my net income, why then did they continue to charge me after five months of continuously "working" on my case to resolve my situation.  I called monthly asking for not only updates [redacted], the man who knew my situation well and I entrusted throughout this process. Why, after the first official response received from FedLoans that my payments would not decrease, did they not say they couldn't assist me any further and end the contract?  The fact that they continued to bill me for five months at $39 a month is a clear indication that they had deceitful intentions to take advantage of my situation and apply their services knowingly that I was not a good candidate. [redacted] even said to me after calling him very upset that so much time had elapsed and charges continued offered me to end the whole thing and return all of my money.  I took his statement in good faith and as an indication that they were honestly trying their best and that there was a chance I'd get the $200 a month student loan payments they initially promised.  As a counter argument to their recorded conversation of me stating my income, this was a coached statement suggested to me by their salesman back when the initial solicitation on their part took place on February, 2016.]

We do apologize about the inconvenience, the rep who sent out the unauthorized email which was not company approved has been reprimanded accordingly. In regards to your request to be cancelled, I went ahead and facilitated your request, nevertheless we are unable to reimburse you, as the work...

has been done for two consecutive years, and your re-certification documents were submitted on 3/35/16 for the second time, and you are in the correct repayment plan. Services were rendered properly.

Hello we resolved the issue thank you please let me know u have this

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. The rep who signed me up denied the $39 monthly fee when I questioned this after hearing about it in the recording. She assured me $40 is the only pmt I would be making and this was my school loan. Then my school loan pmt changed to $10. My issue is that people are being lied to and being persuaded to sign the paperwork then everything will change. They just want your signature on the contract. They know what they are doing. It is a scam. On 08/05/16 I was told by a rep in processing I will be refunded the pmt I made that day and I was later told I would not be refunded by the compliance dept. They will then blame their co workers for not giving the correct responses. I understand I signed your documents but it was all a scam.

Client was fully aware that we document preparation, that we submit the documentation on her behalf. Client was advised in writing in a contract and verbally in a recording which our legal team will pursue. Client called in after we advertised, we did the counseling, advised her what her options...

were, sent the agreement in which she signed and agreed to have us do the work, furthermore was relayed everything that would be done and all fees in a quality control recording and finally received the initial doc prep work. Client stayed with us for over one year, and requested us to do the paperwork again once her repayment expired, after we completed it a second time the client decided to file a Revdex.com complaint to get her money back after services were rendered twice. Shows bad faith on the client's behalf, as if she truly was unsatisfied with our services, she should have cancelled over a year ago once the initial work was done. Client is ungrateful and maliciously filed a complaint to attempt and get her money back and make the company work for free. Sad that we live in a world that a company does an honest job, for an honest fee and there are people out there who prey on hard working people.

thank you so much for your time and attention wit this matter. yes, SLC has fully refunded the money for the services. I am certain this matter could not have been resolved without your assistance. thank you again. I put in the original resolution that I expected a letter of apology from SLC for the misinformation, recklessness with my credit, slothfulness with resolving this matter. if you feel it it too much of a reach, I can let it go. I'm just happy to be done with them. thank you again  for everything you'be done.

Services were rendered as promised.

I filed a complaint against Student Loan Counsel regarding loan consolidation/reduction.  I believe that the matter has been resolved, and I would like to close this case. Sincerely,
