Once you get a little behind watch out because here comes the part where Syncrony takes you credit score and puts it even lower for you.
Finally getting caught up after some bad times within my family, so once your score is dropped, they lower your credit limit to just above what you account balance is, hence making the gap between account balance and available credit roughly nothing, so it looks like you maxed those cards out even though you didn't. This makes the portion of balance to credit limit to high which lowers you score. Seems a bit back handed and very dirty!! So long story short, I will no longer do business with these people. And good luck trying to contact anybody that can understand you or what your going through. No paymeny plans, no soul, no care!!
I have several credit cards through through Synchrony Bank, including Walmart. Until about 6 months ago, my payment history was flawless. Around that time, I had a mishap where I had scheduled a Walmart credit card payment out of my checking account, but a problem with my direct deposit from my employer caused the payment to be rejected by the bank. A couple days later, the deposit issue was supposedly fixed, so I scheduled another payment so I wouldn't pass the due date. Well, the second payment got rejected as well. I called them up and explained the issue. They were very understanding, and since at this time I was now past the due date, they even waived the late fee. I made a third payment which was successful. A month later, I get a letter in the mail that my account had been evaluated and since I had two returned payments in a 6-month period, they've closed my account!! I called them and spoke to a rep AND a supervisor, and they said there was nothing that could be done. It's the policy. They said MAYBE if my employer wrote them a letter about the direct deposit issue, MAYBE they would reevaluate the account to get it reinstated. REALLY?? So much for customer appreciation.
Synchrony Bank refused to accept a payment from another credit card. They would only accept a payment from my debit card. They told me that when the payment from the credit card came through it would be rejected. So I paid my account with my Debit card. They took my debit card payment then a couple days later accepted my credit card payment! Now I'm fighting to get my credit card payment back. They have said they will send me a check but I'm not sure they will! Since I initiated the payment with my credit card, the card company will not dispute the charge! Synchrony Bank has charged me for fees and late charges then added my payment after the charges, I have the proof because I make my payment through my bank that is local. I will and never again do business with this company!
I unfortunately have two loans with MySynchrony. If given the opportunity to switch my funds to another bank, I wouldn't think twice about it. MySynchrony is ruthless with their $37 late fee. If its even past 5 pm on the day its due you will incur late fee. I had set up some auto pays. Apparently there was a late fee from the month prior which had not shown up on my account until after I set up my payments. It was not accounted for in my auto pay. No one called to let me know. No one sent an email... My late fee incurred it's own late fee. Customer service is miss or neutral and lacks knowledge. Its a bank that just doesn't care about the customer. This time I over paid on my bill that was past due to just pay the late fee ahead of time and you know... they still charged me the late fee even though I had already paid it. If I just paid what it said or didn't want to wait on hold to talk to a human, I'd be out $37. When you bring a concern to them, they treat you as if its a hassle and that its your fault. Never again will I finance anything with this company and I look forward to finishing the existing loans I have just to free myself of this establishment.
I have been a Sam's Club member for over 20 years. Since Synchrony Bank took over their master card, it has been a nightmare and I finally closed the account, it's the first time I have ever done so and the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Within a week of getting my new master cards, my identify was stolen and my account frozen, I got a new set of cards, it happened again almost immediately, and I was sent a second set of cards, then I got a letter stating that they had received a copy of a check payment received by Synchrony which had been cashed by another party and to contact my bank immediately, obviously getting my account mixed up with someone elses, they insisted it was my check despite someone elses name appearing on the check and issued by another bank, and after insisting they send me a 3rd set of cards (3 sets within a month), I closed the account, fearful of what would happen next and what this was doing to my credit score. The majority of the time, I couldn't understand the customer service reps, I suspect customer service is overseas, so I rarely shop at Sams now, have switched to Costco which is a much better experience all the way around, and I don't believe it when Sams states they have not received other complaints regarding their master card and Synchrony Bank, especially after seeing this website!!! Hey Sams, wake up, you made a mistake, get a new carrier for your credit card and apologize to your customers for credit score damage and the worst customer service ever!
I called this bank twice to try to confirm the length of my "interest free" promotional period... with the GE Capital, it was easy to find on the bill. It was actually not printed on this bill, and my dentist (partially at fault here) did not tell me that there was no real benefit in terms of interest as when the bill is under $200, you pay it all, or pay their huge interest. I will pay it all, of course, but, there is no transparency, and I was disconnected twice.
I will have to think long and hard before I use it again, even with a larger bill. Would rather pay what I can in person, and use my much lower interest rate regular credit cards. This is tantamount to a scam, in my opinion. And being cut off twice before I had the answer back... not really worth my time to call again. And I hate having to give the last four digits of my social instead of my account number. I will be on the lookout at this point for any identity theft, I do not have a good feeling about this transaction.
Just got off the phone with them. By far the worst customer service I ever experienced. The customer service rep along with the escalation supervisor were both rude and completely incompetent. Never will I deal with Synchrony (GE) again!!
I was given information about a potential financing opportunity from the mechanic that services my car. I brought the information home to call you with some simple questions I have. When I called your customer service line (of which I could only find the telephone number online), I spoke with a very rude man who had spoken with very broken English. I explained that I had some questions and asked if he could help me. He asked what my questions were. I explained the first question about your company's financing. He responded with questioning why I needed to know that. I was caught off guard and asked to speak with a supervisor. He asked why I needed a supervisor. I calmly asked for a supervisor again. He said that was not needed and he could take the application over the phone. Again, I calmly asked for a supervisor. The line went dead to a touch tone sound, where I was put into what I believe is a account manager call hold. I waited on the line for 45 minutes with no answer. I finally gave up and disconnected the call. Interest rates, fees, and company protocol are only some of the dynamics I consider when I open any account with anyone. How I am treated before I open the account the larger part that usually helps me to make a determination. After being treated very rudely, and placed onto a cold hold, I have come to the regretful decision that your company is not a brand I want to do business with. With a very disappointed attitude, I also feel the need to inform you that I will be leaving the same review and on social media.
Consumers beware. If you have a hiccup along the way with any other creditor, Synchrony Bank will systematically destroy your credit by lowering your limit to the next $100 increment above your balance. If you have a $2000 limit and owe $90, they'll lower it to $100. Congratulations! You now have a 90% debt ratio for this card. And if you pay the $90, they'll close the card, further hurting your credit.
This behavior is triggered by any adverse changes in your credit profile, even if the changes are not related to any of their accounts.
They will do this even if you carry low balances less than 30%, always pay them on time, and never missed a payment with them.
They will do this without warning and will not give you an opportunity to explain or account for the changes in your credit profile, which could be for a myriad of reasons.
They will do this if there's merely one account on your profile with issues. They will ignore the dozen others that are paid as agreed.
They will continue to do this, perpetually maxing out your credit lines with them, hurting your credit. It will continue until you get frustrated and pay off the account, which as I said before, they will close.
And worst of all... Even if you have no hiccups in your credit, they will do this to you if you do not use their card regularly.
If I knew then what I know about this lender, I would never have gotten store cards with them. I was rebuilding my credit after a divorce. Today, I am in a worse situation than before because they manage to keep my debt with them at 90%. Systematically paying them off then good riddance to this lender and its horrible practices.
My wife applied for credit with this bank only after being asked many times and being given materials to apply by Sam's Club. The card supposedly offers 5% cash back on gas, 3% cash back on different things, and 2% on others or something to that effect. Well, we got a credit card alright, unfortunately, it was a card that offered no benefits at all and with a $900 credit limit as they said we didn't qualify for their wonderful card that gave the benefits. We have good credit and excellent ratios so my wife decided to apply the very next morning through Citibank for their DoubleCash back card. Surprise, surprise, Citibank approved the card the very next morning with a $5000 credit line. And we already have a credit card with Chase with an even higher credit line with cash back. When we called and asked them to cancel our card and get rid of the inquiry as it was hurting our credit card for a card that we did not ask for and did not want, they refused. They have still not cancelled the card even though we have requested it several times. In my humble opinion this bank is simply not reputable and the A- rating is several letters too high for sure. The Attorney General for our state may very well be getting a letter from me as I believe this is a clear case of "bait and switch" which is an illegal practice. Bottom line is that Citibank gave us their best card the day after Synchrony told us we didn't qualify for their card and sent us a card we didn't ask for. Use caution in doing business with this bank.
The website is horrible. Keeps asking to update my profile and doesnt allow me to see my acct info. Whoever designed it must go home.
Synchrony Bank is absolutely terrible to deal with. My Sam's Club Credit account is with them. After having the account for several years, I requested a credit limit increase and it was denied. They claim that I have too high of balances on my credit cards - the same story they are giving everyone else. And "no", I don't carry high balances on my credit cards. What a joke...I recently opened a new credit card and was issued a credit limit 10x my Sam's credit limit. When I complained to Sam's they referred me to Synchrony and all I ever get from them is a phone message telling me to read the letter that they sent me in which they denied my initial request. I'll keep the Sam's credit account, but I'll just use one of my other credit cards to make purchases. I'm not giving this bank one cent of interest....they don't deserve my business. And NO, I don't want a response from Synchrony teling me that they will contact me at the address they have on file. I don't need another rude telephone call or email from this company.
Synchrony Bank Issued an identity thief two credit cards in my name, even though the application did not include my correct SSN. The application also did not include my correct address! I checked this with my trusted bank, and they agreed this business policy- issuing a credit card based solely on my name, and no other correct personal information is horrible. My husband and I are in the middle of a serious identity theft issue. Three Synchrony credit cards were issued to him two days before mine. I wonder on the timing of this and question the reporting and due diligence of Synchrony Bank. They were good about saying they would close all the accounts, but I don't have a lot of faith in their business
This bank is absolutely terrible. I had 2 credit cards with them and they assessed me late fees every month for both of the cards even though I always paid my bills on time. I would have to call every month and complain and get them to waive the late fees. Finally I just closed my account because of their predatory and illegal fee assessments. Do not bank with this bank.
Telephone harassment
I get paid the third week of the month. This bill is due the third week of the month. My bill is $65 a month. I am disabled. Late charge in August total $90. I paid $90 in August, then paid two weeks later, $65 to be applied to September. (Getting one month ahead so that I won't have late charges anymore). They charged me $101 this time. Said that I cannot send payments in more than 22 days ahead because the computer doesn't know there is a bill yet for September. Trying to do the right thing, and cannot get out of this hole. I am not trying to cheat. I am trying to pay ahead. So they think I paid two payments in August and applied them both to August. Other charge cards do not do this. I pay all bills when I get my check, but have to remember 'don't pay these guys, just save the $65, which is hard to do and mark the calendar to pay 22 days before the due date. Stupid.
I am unfortunate enough to have had Synchrony purchase my Amazon Store Card account. When I opened the account with Amazon, I had a pretty high credit rating, then Synchrony started lowering my credit limit. This is the third time this has happened. Everytime I get my account paid down significantly, they lower my credit limit leaving me with only $10.00 in available credit. When they do this it affects my credit rating because it looks like I'm over-extended.
I have a Spanish surname and I think they are a bunch of bigots.
I have good credit and I wish to keep it that way. I pay my bills early and have never had a problem until Synchrony Bank. I paid my bill 3 days early and even have the confirmation number from my bank that it was paid. Synchrony Bank did not cash the check until 2 days after the due date making me a late payment on my record. I did call and they did return the late fee but now I have a late fee on my record. This sounds like the old practice of leaving something sit in an inbox until past the due date. I will not do business with this bank again.
I have a few different accounts for places such as Value City Furniture that were recently taken over by Synchrony Bank. My experience all around with this institution has been absolutely terrible. The computer automated service makes it almost impossible to reach a customer service representative, and even then, it will cost you a fee to have the CSR put a payment through if you do have a specific request or question on your account before making a payment. Make sure you don't have any plans for the day if you do need to speak to an actual person - you will be waiting on hold for quite some time.
WORST BANK EVER!!! If you are desperate and need their services, then by all means use them. But if you can avoid them DO SO !!! do yourself a favor, and save yourself from the pain of this company... your blood pressure will definitely increase. This bank (if you want to call it a bank) has NO GRACE PERIOD, if your payment is a day late, you are automatically assessed a $39.99 late payment fee, which they will tack on to the end of your loan. I believe this is where their crookedness lies. You can send in your payment but never prove when it arrives to their collection department. The majority of (what they say) of my received dates was ONE day late. So when my loan maturity date arrived, they called to tell me that the loan has matured but WE have a balloon payment of $2500.00 in late fees and we need it now or we will reposes your motorcycle. So I ended up getting a loan to pay this off and by the time I was able to send it out they said it hasn't posted in our system and we are going to have to add another $39.99 for a late fee, and to pay off the remaining $18 in interest, somehow I now owe $89 to get them off my back, and NO THEY WE'RE NOT WILLING TO HELP OR NEGOTIATE. If you can avoid using this bank, please do yourself a favor and search for another bank!! BUYER BEAWARE!!
