[redacted] / [redacted] called TechVantedge on March **, 2014 for Norton issue and Slowness issue on the computer with under an impression that we are Norton. Our agents clearly mention the name "TechVantedge" in the beginning of every call we receive to ensure customers are aware of the fact that we are a third party technical support company. We did not state that we are or affiliated with Norton in any way. Also while making the payments customers are directed to our website and are requested to read the terms and conditions before making an online payment. Also on the credit card statement our name as TechVantedge Inc. appears under the charge.

[redacted] / [redacted] was offered a subscription of $497.00 only for 270 days unlimited technical support ($199.00 – 90 days support, $149.00 – 90 days support & $149.00 – 90 days support) for one computer only. We also found that her computer had a lot of junk files and there were some software corruption due to which the Softwares were not responding efficiently. We repaired that, fixed the slowness issue, Norton issue, optimized the computer, and cleaned the junk data.

[redacted] / [redacted] called to our Customer Support team on the same day i.e. March **, 2014 after the issues were resolved and she asked for the refund. Out of the total amount of $497.00, she agreed to pay $199.00 as one time fix charge and optimization charge for the computer. We have processed the refund of $298.00 as it was discussed with her. We only charged $497.00 on her credit card on March **, 2014. No extra amount was charged on the same day or after that. On March **, 2014 Out of $497.00, we settled only one transaction of $199.00 and voided the remaining two transactions of $149.00 each (Total amount voided was $298).  Attached are the Transaction Receipts and Refund Confirmation Email received from [redacted] / [redacted].

Business is a scam operation. Fell victim to the [redacted] Scam before it was widely publicized. Only partial refund given after multiple threats. Was hung up on countless times, then had nerve to wish me a Merry Christmas!

Review: bought a brand new Dell computer. Transferring info from my old HP, my Dell quick working. I had the Dell support number, they told me to do a total recovery on my Dell and start over. I did, but still was having trouble. I could not find that support number again, so looked for the Dell # on the internet and called. Talked to [redacted]. Said he could only help with my Dell, not the HP since they were Dell. He got remote access to my computer and showed me a list of files and said I had a very serious problem that [redacted] had hacked into my computer. Suggested I take my computer immediately to Microsoft store in [redacted], over 3 hrs away. Then he said he could contact them by phone for help. He said they could help but it would cost $598. I told him I did not have the money. He asked his mgr and said they could give me sr disc for $200, so it would cost me $398. Said I could not fix this any other way. It was very serious, they had access to all my accounts and passwords. I reluctantly agreed because I was terrified. He had me provide my debit card into to charge my account. Then, I talked with [redacted]. He said it would take a couple hours, do not touch my computer. About 1 hr, a [redacted] called. Still the computer did not work. It took 5 hrs and several phone calls to where it was working. I was very concerned, so later that evening I called my bank to change everything. There were 2 charges of $199 each from TechVantedge. They were not dell or [redacted]. They misrepresented themselves and scammed me.Desired Settlement: I expect to receive a full refund of the $398. They misrepresented themselves and didn't completely fix my PC, still having the same proble[redacted]And the company should be investigated to stop this deceptive practice of preying on the fear of people.

Review: I was scammed prior to calling [redacted] to put back my anti-virus program that was taken off my system. I also told [redacted] that I was told my IP address was infected. They said they did not do IP addresses and would transfer me to their technicial department. I was transferred my [redacted] to Techvantedge to help me with my IP Adress. I was shown by Techvantedge my comprised IP Address and they said they needed $794.00 to give me a fire wall. I was shown Fire Walls at [redacted] that started from $650.00 to $1000.00 plus. The Technician stated that they could protect my IP Adress with their firewall for $794.00. I was under the impression that they contracted with [redacted] and was told by the technician that they were. I had them put this fire wall on my system to protect my firewall. I was still having problems with my system so I called techvantege to fix why it was still slow ? The technician took care of the so called problem and feeling scammed again I called [redacted] and asked them if they were contracted with Techvantage. They told me that they are not and I asked them why they transferred me to them as their technicial support for IP Addresses. The Technicial Department states that they did not transfer me to them. I told them since I was Scammed I would not have called a company my self to look at my IP Address after being scammed the 1st time. The Technician Department transferred me to their customer service Department and I was told the their was not documentation of [redacted] transferring me to Techvantedge . I told [redacted] that they transferred me to a company that shows on the web Technicial support for [redacted] and money back guarantee. When Techvantedge tech worked on my system they would write out a customer satisfaction note and have me sign it. This I thought was also like a scam so I could not get my money back. Techvantedge sold me a firewall that was not in my system for 794.00 And when I called to let them know that I thought they were a scam and that the services they provided did not fix my system and wanted my money back . The customer service agent [redacted] Said that they could give me 1 year extension due to they have my note showing satisfaction by technicial support. I told them No I want my money back And that they have a 30 day satisfaction guarantee. Then [redacted] said he could return $149.00 back to me. I said I was Scammed out of $794.00 For a firewall they did not give me or fix any of my technicial problems. [redacted] and Techvantedge are in together to scam unknowing people with little knowledge of computers. I even asked to speak to a [redacted] and was not given to a [redacted].Under these circumstances I was scammed and want my money back that was fraudulently taken from me for a service that was not given.Desired Settlement: I want my credit card refunded the full amount of $794.00

Review: 3/**/2015at 3:35 pm [redacted] from Tech Vantedge whom I have a 1-year computer service contract called stating their monitoring system was saying my firewall on my desktop was endangered. After giving [redacted] access to my computer he says he cannot fix it and has to be fixed by a level 7 [redacted] tech and then a lady by the name of [redacted] comes on the phone and goes over the same issues as [redacted] and says because [redacted] who is my internet carrier has had access to my computer I have to pay $199 to have it fixed which I thought was just another way to get more money. After long discussion with [redacted] and the fact that my service contract is about to expire on both my desktop and my laptop I agree to the $199 repair with lifetime [redacted] warranty plus $149 for 2-computers 1-year service contract. After [redacted] gets my credit card information she assures me she will send me an email stating the above information but instead a tech by name of [redacted] works on desktop and [redacted] works on laptop. After [redacted] completes his work I receive a phone call which I ask him again about the email which he says is coming. I get off the phone and go to email with none sent so I send Tech Vantedge an email requesting my warranty information and my service contract with no response. On 4/** I call the Customer Service number and speak with [redacted] who was very rude and said an email will be sent in 48 hours with still no email. Today at 4:13 pm I again called the Customer Service number and speak with [redacted] who says servers have been down which is why I have received no email and will receive an email within 2 hours which I told him I was filing a complaint with the Revdex.com if I did not receive one which is where I am now at.Desired Settlement: Refund $199 which I was still under contract with Tech Vantedge until April **, 2014. I would still like to have my [redacted] lifetime warranty and 2-computers for one year service contract in writing.

We repaired that, fixed the slowness issue, optimized the computer, and cleaned the junk data. Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved. Although I disagree with Tech Vantedge that the $348 was for 6 months unlimited service for 2-computers. On March **, 2015 after I was called by [redacted] Tech Vantedge would not work on my computer until I paid the $199 for the [redacted] program he said I needed and I was the one that told [redacted] that my renewal would be up on April **, 2015 because the paper [redacted] sent me who was the salesman I spoke with on April **, 2014 wrote on my computer I had 365 days of unlimited service. The $149 was for unlimited service for 2-computers for one year. If my computer was in such bad shape then that does not say a lot for their company as I had a contract with them from April **, 2014 and they had worked on both my computers and the last time they serviced my computers was on January **, 2015 for maintenance and [redacted] worked on both computers.

Review: March **, 2015

Tech Vantedge

To Whom it May Concern,

On March **, 2014 was attempting to install virus protection program from [redacted] that I purchased from [redacted] on my personal computer. It wasn't working, so I called the customer service department at [redacted], I would like to say up front that my computer was fairly new, maybe a year old at the time, and I was not experiencing any problems with it. As it turned out, I discovered on my own later that day that the problem I was experiencing was because I misread the installation code. The gentleman I spoke with at [redacted] could not figure out why I couldn't get the program installed, and he offered to get a [redacted] tech to help me. He connected me with the tech on the phone. I don't remember how long I was on the phone with him that day, but it was quite a long time. A very expensive longtime.

The tech had me do some things on the computer, and he was able to access my computer to do whatever it was he said needed done. This was a year ago and I do not remember the conversation verbatim. He said he was from [redacted] and that my computer had numerous viruses. He charged me 199.00. Then he said something else was wrong and charged me another 199.00 to fix that problem. Apparently I am an extremely naïve, gullible widow, despite the fact that I have a Masters degree. When he tried to get me to pay another 199.00 to fix something else, I came to my senses and said No.

I know the tech I spoke to was from your company. I got the name from my bank statement. Every couple of months I get phone calls from your company. I presume you are hoping to get even more money as if the $398.00 you cheated me out of wasn't enough. I could have bought a new computer for that much money, for crying out loud! Each time your representative calls I ask, not always nicely, for them to leave me alone and not to contact me again, Yesterday I got several phone calls from them again. According to the caller ID the phone number was ###-###-####. was in a bad reception area when the first two calls came, When he did get through to me I got angry and yelled at him. At some point I called the number back to ask why they keep calling me. The man who answered indicated he was from [redacted], I am not sure if it was that call or when they called me back again, but I said I am not interested in doing business with your company and requested that they don't call me anymore,

There is a disclaimer on your website that states: “Tech Vantedge is an independent provider of on-demand tech support and not affiliated with any third-party brand unless specified. Tech Vantedge has no affiliation with any of these third-party companies. If you product is under warranty or not technical support may also be provided by the brand owner and official website. Use of names, trademarks is for reference only.”

Sincerely, [redacted]Desired Settlement: I believe you fraudulently led me to believe you represented the [redacted] company and that you deliberately scammed me out of $398.00. For all I know, the representative from [redacted] was in on the scheme. Further, I have no way of knowing whether you even did remove any viruses from my computer. At the bottom of this letter you will see that I am sending copies of this letter to several agencies. I am sorry I ever heard of your company or [redacted],

Review: I had a Windows 8.1 key management error, I was under the impression that I was speaking with [redacted]. When a search of the internet for [redacted] technical support their phone number was listed as a [redacted] tech line. As stated in the reply from Tech Vantedge on another complaint that the techs clearly identifies themselves as Tech Vantedge, Tech Vantedge was not mentioned at all or I would not have had a conversation with them. They were given my 8.1 key numbers. The tech supposedly verified they were good keys, but they were unable to activate Windows. The tech was given access to my computers to run a scan, I was told that my computer had been hacked. They were allowed access to my computers to build a network firewall which would repair the Windows 8.1 key management error. When the tech was unable to answer simple questions I requested to speak with a supervisor, who told me that my 8.1 keys were not "good" and all but accused me of pirating the copy of Windows. Whatever they did to my computer they charged me three separate charges, one for $100.00, one for $297.00 and one for $298.00. Nothing they did repaired the key management error they stated would be repaired. I asked for my money to be refunded because they did not provide the service promised. Now they want me to purchase a new 8.1 upload or a Windows 10 disc and stated that my computer had to be reset to the factory settings. When I asked for a refund of my money due to the lack of providing the service promised. The "supervisor" promised me that customer service would call me the next day as they were closed at that time. That was 4 day ago, nothing has been heard from them. After talking to [redacted] they advised me to change all of my banking account information as this company is a scam!Desired Settlement: I would like ALL of my money to be refunded a total of $696.

After they got through, they only partially repaired my problem. I called them back demanding a refund and they refused to refund my money. I had to call [redacted] to get my system restored to factory specs. I was told by ** that I was scammed out of my money. This all happened on /**/2015. [redacted] / [redacted] called TechVantedge on May **, 2014 for Browser and slow performance issue on the computer with under an impression that we are [redacted]. Our agents clearly mention the name "TechVantedge" in the beginning of every call we receive to ensure customers are aware of the fact that we are a third party technical support company. We did not state that we are or affiliated with [redacted] or any other brand in any way. Also while making the payments customers are directed to our website and are requested to read the terms and conditions before making an online payment. Also on the credit card statement our name as TechVantedge Inc. appears under the charge.

Review: I was having difficulties with my computer so I looked up the number for HP tech support and called with my cell phone. I immediately had to hang up before anyone answered as I was interrupted at work. I received a call back from someone claiming to be HP tech support (which I later found out was this company Tech Vantedge) and they said they could remotely access my computer and take care of the issue I was having with slowness. They then said my computer had threats and needed firewall protection. They said they could provide lifetime firewall protection to all of my computers for $398. I have always trusted HP and thought this was them. Given that I usually spend money every year on this with Norton Antivirus, etc I thought this to be a decent deal. Well they charged my card the money, there is no firewall on my computer, and my computer is still running slow. I am now concerned that they have all of my passwords/bank info, etc since they have remotely accessed my computer and falsely represented themselves as HP representatives.Desired Settlement: I would like my credit card to be refunded

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I do not feel my request for a full refund can be satisfied by returning $149 dollars out of the $398 that is owed to me. This company is claiming to install a firewall on the PC for additional security and claiming "everything coming into my computer will be monitored at all times". They also claim the "lifetime" services that come with the "Gold" package, the $398 package, will be transferable to ANY computer I purchase in the future. For my entire life. I have requested that they send me a detailed list of everything that I purchased with the $398. This request was made on 2-**-14 at about 5:30 mountain time. I have requested this information from them two other times as well. Each time they have failed to give me any hard fact details regarding what this "lifetime" security package consists of. All they do is continue to tell me about the tech support they will give me for 180 days. Most importantly I have not been able to locate something I saw when they were accessing my PC remotely on the [redacted] of January. That is the different packages they advertise, such as "gold", "silver" etc. These packages range from about $99 to $398. The lowest cost package includes the one time service only. The other packages increase in price while increasing with supposed benefits. This is were you will find the "lifetime" portions of the package that I referred to earlier. I do appreciate your time and I would be happy to forward any of the responses that have been sent to me. Thank you.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Review: I have a new computer that had the trial version of [redacted] on it. It was running fine. However I became concerned about all of the recent hacking/virus activity so I tried to manually initiate a scan. It hung up at 67% complete. I went to what I believed to be [redacted]'s website to reach technical support. I called the tech support number listed on the webpage thinking it was [redacted] and unknowingly ended up with Tech Vantedge. At that point they said they needed to take control of my computer and I allowed it. They pulled up a screen that looked like old DOS commands when you start your computer in safe mode. At the bottom they circled in red what they represented to be 5 foreign IP addresses belonging to hackers that were currently on my computer accessing my data. Next they pulled up a list of [redacted] files they said had been stopped that were needed to operate. I questioned that, since my computer had been running well. At that point they gave me 2 options: (1) for $199 I could have 90 days of support on a single computer or (2) for $597 I could buy lifetime support for up to 3 computers and all other electronic devices (Ipad, phone, printers, etc.). I elected the $597 option. After 2 hours on my computer they called and said it was all cleansed and asked me to test it. Since it had been operating well before (other than [redacted] hanging up) I said it was working OK. I had no way of being able to confirm that the supposed hackers were gone. They removed the [redacted] software from my computer and said there was something running in the background. When the invoices were emailed to me (3 separate invoices for $199) each said I had purchased "90 days unlimited support" At that time I researched the company and found that they are a scam. I called to get my $597 refunded and they agreed to refund all but $100. I think they use deceptive trade/advertising practices and prey on the fear of hackers. They have a money back guarantee on their website. The tech support people spoke poor English and I'm not sure I understood what they were saying a large part of the time.Desired Settlement: I want a refund of $597.

Review: I feel I have been mislead by misrepresentation and scare tactics resulting in an on-line Microsoft Computer scam.On April *, 2014 I received a call from ###-###-#### asking if I was aware that my Microsoft was not working properly. I told him my computer was working fine and I have a computer person that checks for me. Either we got disconnected or he hung up. I emailed the person who works on my computer(Certified computer tech). He said it is a good thing because it may be a scam and since he was coming to check my printing issues he would check my computer at the same time. He said the computer was indeed protected and clean. On April **, 2014 I saw that my coverage with McAfee was soon to expire and still concerned about the April [redacted] call I went into my McAfee Security Center and clicked "renew". It asked me to put in password and I could not remember it. It gave me directions to click on "forgot password" and follow the direction after clicking on the link they would send to my email. I received the link immediately. When I tried to open the link that I received it would not open(error message)and gave the message to call the 1888 number listed above for support. I called the given number, still thinking I was calling a number from McAfee. I explained to the person who answered the phone that I was having difficulty renewing and he immediately said without hesitation that it was due to a Microsoft problem and not a McAfee problem and that my computer had been hacked and that I needed to take immediate action. He spoke with urgency in his voice and asked to remotely control my computer pulling up intimating data. He said "Do you see all the information in red and all of the foreign addresses? Those are all hackers on your computer." I am thinking that this is a McAfee representative and McAfee protects my computer so I foolishly followed his directions.I know Panic can be one's worst enemy and for me that night it was. After hearing the nightly news regarding the recent Microsoft scam I truly thought it had happened to us. I fell right into their scam to make matters worse I had called them thinking they were tech support for McAfee. I also sent back, per their request their pre-typed letter that stated they solved my problem. They removed my McAfee protection along with the other protection programs I had installed.I have tried the McAfee link again and the page opens and their number is now not listed. They offered me three packages to clear up my problem but said only the last two would really cover my needs and would do so for life. I agreed to the lower of the two which was $698. The other one was Approx. $1000. I asked why were they so expensive and that I could buy a new computer for that amount and they said that buying a new computer would not solve the problem. My husband and I are retired and I was terrified that we could lose what we had saved with no way to re;place it, thus I agreed to it. After hanging up and just feeling this was not right, I [redacted] them and the only positive comments I found was on their personal web site. There were pages of people reporting similar experiences. I also read the Revdex.com reports warning of Tech Support using the same tactics we had experienced.I contacted Microsoft and they said they NEVER call your home as was done on April [redacted] prior to the April [redacted] transaction. They also told me that Tech Vantedge did not have the authority to do any of this. I also contacted McAfee and was told these people were not authorized by them and they could not explain how the number showed up when the page did not open. I called back on the 1-[redacted] after reading on line and contacting Microsoft and McAfee approximately One hour after the transaction and also responded to an email. and asked them to cancel and refund my money. They said that they had already performed the service but would refund $398 of the $698. However, in order to do so I would have to agree to their pre-written letter acknowledging it by sending it back. They wanted me to agree not to dispute the charges and that the matter was closed. I did not acknowledge their pre-written letter as they requested. The charges appeared on my canceled credit card today for $348. I communicated a SECOND time what I expected to a staff member who called my house on 4/**. I communicated again a THIRD time my expectations by email requesting a full refund and that they not call my home again, but to let me know by email when they had refunded my money. I uninstall what they put on my computer and had my computer tech load new protection. I canceled my credit card and notified my financial institution and followed their advice regarding what I should do and what action I should take.Desired Settlement: A full refund and no further communication, contact etc. from them.

Review: I was working on my computer and I had a error message that popped up telling me that my computer had been compromised and it said to click on the box. I clicked on the box and then it told me that I had a virus through the AVG Website and to click, etc. and they could help repair it. I was speaking with the person on the phone for many hours while they had remote access to my computer and did all these changes including removing the AVG protection that I had, so I thought at the end of our conversation that my computer was fixed. I was also charged $149.00 for one service and then charged another $149.00 which would protect our bank accounts, etc. and it was explained to me that this service would be in place for the life of the computer and even when we got a new computer the service would carry forward to the new computer all for $298.00 which I paid with my American Express card. Upon completion they had me sign a letter that they had created stating that I was satisfied with the service and solutions to the problems of my computer at the end of the conversation that very same day. Then approximately 2 weeks later my wife receives a call stating that there was an issue with our computer and they needed remote access to correct the issue and more money. I stated to them that I was advised that during the phone call of 9/*/13 that everything was corrected, they then hung up on me. I called what I thought was an AVG number and stated to them what had just happened and they advised that someone would have someone call me back at 3:00 that day to speak with me about the issue at hand and never received a phone call and I could not get through to anyone when trying to call again. I then filed a complaint with American Express in which Tech Vantedge provided them with a copy of the letter they had me sign that day and also invoices which did not indicate lifetime coverage but only 90 days of unlimited support which is not what we purchased. I have had to change my debit & credit card to protect our accounts because they had that information. I know of 2 other people that were almost taken by this same company and unfortunately I was a trusting party and paid for a services that I thought was legitimate and I have since discovered that they have an "F" rating by Revdex.com.Desired Settlement: I would very much like to be reimbursed my $298.00 that we paid for what was suppose to have been a lifetime service and I also feel like I was definitely scammed by this Company and I have been advised that they are a Third Party vendor for AVG at least that is what I was told but Companies like this should definitely be shut down. I have a copy of what they sent to American Express when we disputed the charges and like I said the letter of satisfaction was signed the same day of their so called service but little did I know that they would be calling again trying to sell me more services after already paying the $298.00

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

I do want to comment that I do not totally agree with all of their comments such as being directed to their website for all terms and conditions and they did state that they were a 3rd party administrator for AVG but I am happy to say that we did receive $200.00 of the $298. back and believe that we only received that after advising that they had an "F" rating with the Revdex.com because prior to that they were saying that there are lots of people out there that make complaints, etc that are not true and accurate and after bringing up the rating they did not continue but offered us the $200.00.

I want to thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Sincerely,

Review: I was having a problem loading Norton antivirus onto my computer and went to find a phone number for tech support. I inadvertently choose a site that was a scam. They claimed to be affiliated with Norton and said my computer had malware on it stopping the download. They could fix it for $149.00. At no time did they say they were not affiliated with Norton antivirus. I did this this morning, 12/*/13 and will try to dispute it with my credit card company. My sister found the correct number for Norton, which is no where included on the box I purchased the product in. Norton says they would never charge to fix the problem, but I am still out $149.00Desired Settlement: I do not have to pay the charge to the company falsely claiming my computer had a virus and Norton antivirus could not be installed until I paid them to fix the malware.

Review: I had called Kaspersky for technical help and somehow Tech vantedge answered the phone and told me I had all kind of things wrong with my PC> Thinking it was a part of Kaspersky, I figured I could rely on what I was told. But after they were finished, I found out I was lied to and the lie amounted to $696.00. The only problem I was having was trying to install Kaspersky antiviris. I realize now I was scamed out of this money because I have been told they are stationed out of India. The person who talked to me cound hardly speek English and was very hard to understand. I think now that was the reason I was told about all the things wrong was the misunderstanding. I really think this company should be investigated so people will not be taken like I was. I wish they would be held responsible for the amount I and any other person has had to pay for the lies they tell you.Desired Settlement: I just hope that along with the refund to me and any other one who has been taken by them, that they be not allowed to continue their scam to people.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

I have received the refund and consider this dispute closed. [redacted].

Sincerely,

Review: You already have our initial complaint on file from the first day, when I complained they were trying to "scam" us. They called three times in various stages of intimidation. I called the library to confirm the phone number and business name, and in spite of telling them to stop and not charge us, they have now charged us twice. (See initial complaint -- first they said $300, then went to $600 for two computers-- my husband was just trying to uninstall AVG virus protection according to instructions given by Virtual PC, our local computer company, when a pop-up from this company [claiming to be the tech company for AVG, who absolutely denies that they hired these guys] appeared. [redacted] called the number becasue he thought they'd uninstall AVG, but they immediately who began alarming Mel with "Your computer's been hacked -- you have to do this and this immediately to protect the information in your computer" etc. -- I called AVG to warn them how the scammers were using their name and a pop-up to scam their customers and AVG repeatedly said they have nothing to do with this company.)

We immediately cut off our VISA card and changed the account. Apparently the bank was remiss in not telling us that the charge would still come through. Not only that, they charged us AGAIN on Nov. ** on the NEW VISA card.Desired Settlement: They called three times the first day and not again when I refused to take the final call -- they kept asking for a [redacted], and there is no one here by that name. Now they have tracked down our new card and have again charged $149.00.

I insist these rip-off artists give us our money back. We tried to stop them within minutes. There was no completion of any service: indeed, nothing was wrong with our computer. They are listed at several sites on the Internet as scammers. They tie up your computer with rows and rows and quickly moving lines of apparent code (for one woman, it went on for 7 hours, though they promised 1) and no fix was instituted, though they did take her money. I demand that they return our money. I did ask them to reverse all charges -- they are extremely persistent, and my bank called to say they'd charged us again. Look, my husband is 69, and they first alarmed and then intimidated him. From beginning to end, this was nothing but a scam.

I asked the bank for their address -- she (at PNC) said they give no address, but the numbers on the new charge said: ###-###-#### and ###-###-####. Go get them, please. They're ripping people off!

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[redacted] called them because they (the phone number to call) came as [redacted] was trying to find uninstall instructions for AVG. When they called back (which they did twice that day) they repeated their claim that they were contracted by AVG to take care of their technical problems. When I called AVG, they denied this utterly (and this time I called our library to be certain we were speaking with AVG).

While I do accept their refund, which has come both in the form of the credit card company dispute resolution and as a check from TechVantedge which I will not deposit, their depiction of events is not what we experienced. They told [redacted], "You've been hacked!" and were very alarmist about our bank accounts being cleaned out, etc. and that we had to act quickly. Their charges were not as described, but as [redacted] came up the stairs to talk to me, were at $600 for scrubbing our two computers "clean" of the spyware and hacking devices. The computers were full of lines crossing the screen rapidly of code-looking stuff, and everything about this -- most notably that [redacted] got them when trying to find AVG removal information -- was suspicious. The way they implied that [redacted] had to act urgently or lose all money from our accounts especially did not strike me as a legitimate way to act.

If this is a legitimate company doing legitimate work, they had better clear up their story about the relationship with AVG, and approach people in a way other than as automatic when uninstalling AVG. If they ARE the technical company for AVG, why doesn AVG refuse to say so? Their escalating charges signaled to me that we were in danger; besides which, we could ill afford such an extravagant charge as $600.00. It seemed to me that they were feeling out how much they could get, and currently, since their entrance into the computers, one of our computers is not working correctly at all, necessitating our taking in the computers to our local computer people to get the "bugs" out. I don't know where the bugs came from, but the worsening of the computer 's workings coincides with their being inside our machines.

And you guys seem to make it hard to do so. My bank, PNC, has collected back the funds that Tech Vantedge charged me twice, so it is no longer an open account. Furthermore, I received a call from Tech Vantedge, and they said they would send a check for the $298.00. This they have done. I will make sure that they don't charge me again, and then send back the check.

Review: On Saturday May **, 2014 I Ordered on line AVG Internet Security, which I paid 55.00 for, I was having trouble with it scanning my computer, so I got on line and called what I thought was AVG company, but somehow I had called tech vantedge(had avg all over website) I started talking to [redacted] (ext [redacted]) who told me no problem I can fix that for you, he seemed very informative about computers. He asked for permission to be logged in to my computer which I gave him(keep in mind brand new computer Sony Vaio, which I had since April *, after he logged in, he went into my computer internally, and proceeded to tell me that I had a Zeus(Trojan horse malware on my computer that had taken over my whole network, showing like 4000 warnings. I was panic stricken, but he seemed really nice, he proceeded to tell me no problem we can fix this, asking me all kinds of questions as to how this could have happened. He made me trust him. I was so upset that I was literally crying. As he was reeling me in to scam me, he offered me these packages 298.00 to fix one computer and 698.00 for the whole network, also offering me lifetime warranty, and also proceeded to tell me tech would install firewall, so this would never happen again, he also guaranteed me that I would never get any more junk email. So tech signed into my computer and proceeded to work on it, making me believe they working fixing my computer. They also showed me on computer that they were Microsoft certified) I paid 298.00 before they started working on computer. Before tech started [redacted] told me I could call him any time at all with any computer issues. Then they make you think they have fixed your computer by going in and showing you threats are gone.next day, had all the same junk email.Called 2 or 3 times and asked for [redacted], never available. I believe there were no viruses. they planted them, there was no firewall put in. They refuse to give me refund. I am very upset. they totally scammed me for 298.00 . Ran out of space.Desired Settlement: I want a complete refund, since all I wanted was my avg fixed, which I had just paid 55.00. These people prey on innocent victi**. Can't settle for anything less. I read all their reviews after the fact. and appears they have done the exact same thing to a lot of people. They refuse to budge, they are total scam artists, and I was a victim. So now I have paid 298.00 for a service that I will never use, because I was totally deceived. They trap you into believing your whole network is corrup
