Ten-X Reviews (129)

I received a call from Auction.com that I was the winning bidder on a property. They demanded a $2500 wire transfer from my bank plus a 26 page contract signed and returned within 24 hours! No time for attorney review. Did as they asked. Was given a contact for a 'contract specialist' who I made several calls and emails to, only responding 3 days later with a canned response. 3 weeks passed with no communication from them. So I called, emailed, finally they said 'oh your offer was rejected' then where is my $2500? Another 2 weeks to get my money back!
Don't let Auction.com waste your time or take your money!...stay away!

Mr. [redacted],

We appreciate your...

Thank you.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me.  I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

We are sorry to hear that this buyer had a negative experience with our platform. According to our records, the foreclosure deed was not recorded at the time of sale, which delayed closing. Auction.com escalated the issue to the Seller on several occasions in an attempt to resolve the problem and...

finalize the transaction. The Buyer was given the option to terminate the transaction and receive a refund of her deposit if she no longer wished to await resolution. Our records indicate she chose to extend instead and successfully closed.

Hello [redacted],
The emails that you are receiving are part of an email campaign that is not connected to the alerts the customer service has access to turning off.  I sent your information over to the department that will be able to remove you from those daily emails.  We are...

currently working on a single preference center that will allow customers to contact customer service to deactivate any and all alerts based on the customer's request.  However, at this time it's a little more complicated.  We will remedy this situation as fast as possible for you.  Again, I apologize for the frustration you are feeling.
Thank you for you patience while we solve this issue.

Mr. [redacted],
My name is [redacted] and I am in charge of Customer Service for Auction.com. I have personally looked into the specific details of your inquiry and I am more than happy to discuss them in greater detail if you would like to give me a call at [redacted], I am available...

Auction.com is not the seller of this property, or any property advertised, auctioned, or sold on Auction.com. As explained in our Terms & Conditions (http://cdn.mlhdocs.com/documents/globalTermsConditions/TermsandConditions_64809... ,Section 3: Bidding & Buying), and also detailed in the proposed contract (Purchase Agreement, Section 11) pertaining to your specific transaction, the seller reserves the right to accept, deny, or cancel any offer/bid at any stage prior to the close of the transaction.
In your specific case,  although you were notified that your offer had been accepted, the seller never actually accepted your offer nor executed the contract, and we apologize for the miscommunication. Auction.com did attempt to work with the seller on your behalf to reinstate your offer, but the seller remained unwilling to accept your offer at your last and final bid amount.  Therefore, a notification was sent directly to the Closing Company via email on 3-4-14 (and both you and your agent were copied on the communication) that stated that your Earnest Money Deposit could be released and that the contract was never signed by the seller, so no need for termination instructions.
If you would like to discuss any aspect of your transaction with Auction.com in further detail, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

Thank you for choosing Auction.com as a real estate investment platform.

Hello [redacted] The file is being cancelled, and the seller will release your $2,500 EMD back to you.  Please make sure to follow your cancellation instructions for the seller to execute the cancellation.  Thank you,

Mrs. [redacted],

I was reviewing your notes and noticed that the closing supervisor has been assisting you with the closing process, but the most recent note mentioned that you have obtained legal counsel for further assistance.

[redacted], We have reached out to the escrow company numerous times since this complaint came in.  We finally received a response today.  They are issuing a stop payment of the check that was never received and will be re-issuing a new check for you.  Our internal escalation...

department will continue to follow up until you have received your refund.  I'm sorry to hear that the purchase didn't not work out, and I feel even worse that it's taken this long to get your money back. Thank you for your business.

Hi [redacted], My name is [redacted] and I manage the Customer Success Department at Auction.com.
We’re very sorry you’ve had an unsatisfactory experience,
and would like to respond to the points you’ve made in your note.
1.     We follow a standard...

practice of high value
auctions of bidding on behalf of sellers to bring bids closer to the seller’s
“reserve” – the point at which the seller will likely accept the offer. And to
make it clear to potential bidders, we do note on the applicable property pages
(in the “Transaction Details” area) that we may “…bid on behalf of the seller.”
We also have a further explanation of the process in our help content, here.
2.     Sometimes, depending on how motivated the seller
is, after the auction has closed and the property has not been won, the seller
will accept offers that are below their reserve. In an effort to create
a win-win for both the buyer and the seller, we will approach the highest
bidder to gauge their interest in submitting an offer.
3.     Once you completed the contractual paperwork
(your offer), it still had to be submitted to the seller for their acceptance,
and although they may have provided us with an initial indication of a
potential acceptance, it still must go through a formal “sold subject to”
process, and may not be accepted. We very specifically cover this risk when we
help bidders through the contact and closing process, and apologize if there
was a misunderstanding.
Lastly, we take a lot of pride in helping customers navigate
the real estate auction, contracting and closing process, and although your bid
didn’t result in a successful experience, we hope this note has addressed your
concerns. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out to me direct. I can be reached at ###-###-####.

We appreciate your feedback.

It was a pleasure speaking with you over the phone.  I'm very sorry to hear that this experience has resulted in your decision to cancel, but I understand the reasons behind this.  As a company we will work to improve our communication to our customers to provide a better...

buying experience.   As discussed over the phone, we will issue your cancellation after receiving your written request, and the escrow deposit of $500 will be returned to you. Thank you for your business with Auction.com

We recently bought a baseball card set for over 5,000$ while bidding online that was totally misrepresented, the pictures they posted do not show the true conditions of the better player cards at all, and when we did get the cards and called them they are very rude on the phone and have a lot of entitlement. We asked to return the cards and they blamed us for buying them, I would have thought the opposite given they know the pictures they posted online of the better player cards do not show there true conditions and we bid thinking by the pictures shown that they were in much better shape... We are currently in a dispute with our CC company to return the product to them and they are still resisting saying that Bc they never put the cards actual conditions in writing they do not have to take them back, to us this is fraud, We got a second opinion on the cards and we were told they were not even worth 2500$. I would never do business with these people or buy anything from them and if you are considering it please be very very careful, the auction itself seemed to have in house bidders that were manipulating the prices as well, for the items to sell higher... I am very very upset about this transaction with them! Please please be careful

Unfortunately, there were complications surrounding the property you were interested in buying. The title company discovered a Junior Mortgage after the property was posted by the seller on Auction.com. While unusual, this happens sometimes on foreclosure properties, and needs to be resolved before a new buyer can obtain a clear title on the property.
As you may know, Auction.com is not actually the seller of this property, or any property advertised, auctioned, or sold on Auction.com. (This is explained in our Terms & Conditions here: http://cdn.mlhdocs.com/documents/globalTermsConditions/TermsandConditions_648098... Section 3: Bidding & Buying). We attempted to work with the seller and Foreclosure Attorney on your behalf to help you purchase the property, but due to the complications mentioned above, the seller elected to cancel the transaction. Your $2,500 deposit has been refunded and was wired to your trust account on June 23, 2014 (the cancellation and wire service documents are both attached).
I am more than happy to discuss this in greater detail if you would like to give me a call at [redacted]. I am available Monday-Friday from 8AM-5PM PST.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

I met the reserve price and was contacted by The Company that I had won the auction.  This does not sound like any of the events that you describe.  The practice it predatory and I have filed a complaint with the California State Attorney General and the Washington State Attorney General.  I intend to seek an injunction against the subject property being sold until this matter is resolved to my satisfaction and name Ten-X in the action.

We understand your concerns and are always incorporating customer feedback to improve our processes. We endeavor to be the ideal marketplace to connect buyers and sellers of real estate and will continue to work to make sure we can meet this standard.

This transaction was canceled due to long unexplained delays on Auction.Com's part. They demanded an immediate wire transfer of funds and that cost me $40. I also have a loss of interest my $4,625 would have earned (approx $800 at bank rates) and it is unacceptable that Auction.Com doesn't feel fair to cover my losses due to their negligence and lack of diligence.
I feel that to really make things right, as if it never happened, they should repay my losses, estimated to be a fair $840. We are not looking to profit, just looking to regain our losses. Mind you, there are other losses as well, but they are too complex to really prove. Financial loss is easy, as it is common sense and only fair to recover.
