Review: I got a travellers home insurance policy on the house I just Boputght. The sellers at one time had built a small shed behind nthe garage. They want a gutter and down spout put on the shed. The shed is made out of about 20 dollars worth of scrap wood. And I live in [redacted] where we have been burried under a ton of snow. I am a disabled veteran and fixing this problem under ideal conditions would be tough. I am dealing with a flat roof on my house as well as a dozen other more pressing problems and they are cancelling my insurance because I can not get a down spout put on a 20 dollar shed. I did not refuse to make the repair I just ask that I have more time to make them. they said no.Desired Settlement: For under writters to understand risk management. That maybe having a disabled veteran risk personal in jury to fix a 20 doallar shed when the rest on the house is at risk may not be a wise choice.

Response:

A response was sent 3/9/2015.A review of the files indicates that on March 3rd [redacted] Insurance Agency documented receipt of the proof we were seeking for repairs and the policy has been reinstated, without any lapse in coverage. Just one question to Mr. [redacted] is to please verify the year his house was built, and contact information has been provided in this response letter for him to contact Travelers.

Review: I have my automobile policy through Travelers. I recently received my renewal policy. It is effective 6-20-13 to 6-20-14. I have two vehicles on the policy. On May 31st I called to delete collision coverage from one of my vehicles. It was on vehicle #1 a 2000 Chev. Cavalier. The premium for collision on this vehicle was $65. When I called to delete this coverage I was told that my premium would decrease by $50. I told them the premium that was shown on my renewal policy was $65 for this coverage. I asked why my premium would not decrease by $65.I was told that whenever a change is made the computer re rates the entire policy. I asked why and no answer was known.I did not change any other information that would effect the rates.I do not think this is fair to the customer. This should not be allowed to be done.Today I received this change in the mail. They increase my liability premiums on both of my vehicles. Why?? They increased my comprehensive premium on both of my vehicles. Why?? They increased my collision coverage premium on my other vehicle (89 Mazda). Why??I did not make any changes on my 89 Mazda. I did not make any other change on my 2000 Chev Cavalier other than deleting collision coverage. This one change that was requested I feel does not effect the rating of the entire policy.

When my original renewal policy was sent to me my total premium was $665.The premium charge for collision on the Chev. Cavalier was $65.I requested to delete this coverage effective on the inception date of the renewal policy. Therefore I feel my decrease in premium should be $65 not $50 what I was told.It is not fair to re-rate the entire policy when the change that was requested does not have anything to do with any other coverage or any other vehicle on my policy.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2013/06/25) */

A response was sent 6/24/2013 from Travelers Knoxville Business Center. In order to offer our customers the best rates possible, we utilize highly segmented pricing with many variables; and at any given change to the policy, the premium can adjust as a result of these variables. In this particular instance, when the collision coverage was removed from the 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier, the premium for the remaining coverages were recalculated resulting in a net decrease in premium of $50.00.

We regret that Ms [redacted] was dissatisfied with the change in her premium. While we understand and empathize with her disappointment, please know that her premium has been calculated based on Travelers' filed rules and rates in the state of Pennsylvania which apply to all policyholders, and the change in her premium was not intended to penalize her.

Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2013/06/26) */

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT ACCEPT the response from the business.)

I understand that Travelers utilizes pricing with many variables. In this particular instance I was charged $65 for collision coverage on the 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier. I requested to remove collision coverage from this vehicle only. No other change was requested. I expected to get a decrease in premium of $65 not $50 as Travelers stated. I feel that the change I requested does not require a premium adjustment. Travelers stated that my premium was calculated based on their rules and rates filed with my state. I would like for Travelers to disclose a copy of these rules and rates filed with Pennsylvania. I would like this disclosure to include a list of all the reasons to which a policy can be recalculated when a change is made. I feel I have the right to request this since Travelers recalculated my policy. Travelers should have no problems doing this if they have nothing to hide. Consumers have rights too, and they should not be taken advantage of. I believe there was no valid change done to my policy that would warrant only a $50 decrease in premium. A full $65 decrease in premium should be issued.

Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2013/07/10) */

A response was sent to Mr. [redacted] from Travelers Knoxville Business Center, July 10, 2013. Unfortunately, are unable to provide the detailed information it appears that Mr.[redacted] is seeking. The specifics of Travelers rating plan are proprietary and confidential - we do not share this information with the general public.

Travelers does understand Mr. [redacted]'s concern and want him to feel confident that he is being treated fairly. Although we never encourage customers to file inquiries with the Pennsylvania Department of Insurance, this might be his best option if he remains unsatisfied with Travelers' position. The reason for this is that we are able to share confidential information with the Department of Insurance, since they have regulatory oversight over our business and ultimately approve our filings.

Consumer Response /* (-5, 10, 2013/07/15) */

Travelers responded that the specifics of their rating plan is proprietary and confidential. However the list I asked them to disclose is only a list of reasons for recalculation. I am not asking for any detailed specifics on their rating plan. Travelers stated that they thought I was treated fairly, but I don't. Is it fair to charge $65 for something and only give back $50 if it is not wanted?? Is it fair for consumers not to know what changes to their policy can effect their premium?? Travelers should not be able to say that things are confidential to get out of disclosing this list of reasons. These reasons have nothing to do with their specific rating plan. It appears to me that Travelers is only concerned about making a profit and they do not really care about their customers. I do not believe that the change I requested would have warranted my policy to be recalculated. Other customers should be aware that Travelers is doing this to them. If more consumers complain about this matter, maybe Travelers will be held accountable to conduct business properly.

Review: My car was involved in a hit & run while parked. When I filled my claim they told me they canceled my full coverage last October. No reason can be provided. No accidents or tickets. This notice is the only letter that cannot be pulled up online in my policy documents. They stated that there was no lienholder on file to notify. They sure didn't have a title on file for my 2013 [redacted]. Now I am unable to even use the passenger side of my vehicle & plastic is keeping the interior from the weather.Desired Settlement: I want Travelers to honor the agreement made when I added the car to my policy. I also want a real reason as to why full coverage was canceled & why this one document cannot be found online.

This is an issue that has been cleared up over two years and now has resurfaced with a new collection company. The gentleman that has not only been harnessing me but my staff at the restaurant is [redacted]...his number is: [redacted]. I have tries to explain the situation and all I get back are threats against me personally and against my business. He has even gone to the point of calling the restaurant so many times that we have lost customers over it due to lack of service with him taking my employees off the floor for 15minutes at a time. One employee told me that [redacted] is going to "hunt me down and take matters into his own hands." I am to the point of being afraid not only for my safety but the safety of my staff. I have offered a settlement on the bill...even though I truly believe its false of 1500.00 so that the harassment will stop. I am not claiming guilt just want the phone calls and threats to stop. Review: I contacted Travelers Insurance in the middle of April to receive a quote because I was thinking about switching over from Progressive. The price was great so I decided to make the switch but not until 5/27/2013. In the beginning of May I found out the company I work for was switching from Travelers to another company. I contacted travelers to tell them the situation and that I wanted to cancel my policy and stay with progressive. They cancelled my policy and asked if I still had insurance on the vehicle which I replied yes. A few months later I get a letter from the DOT saying they are suspending my license because travelers contacted them stating I had let my insurance lapse, which is an outright lie. I feel Travelers is making bogus claims out of retaliation because I didn't stay with their company. I made them aware I had insurance and that there was no lapse in my previous insurance. So now I have to deal with the DOT and try to straighten this out.

Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Not applicable

I would like to see Travelers stop retaliating against hard working productive people, who maintain insurance policies, just because you don't choose their company.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2013/07/24) */

A response was sent to Mr. [redacted] via email July 22,2013 from Travelers Glens Falls Business Center. The email included the following: "In reviewing your account with Travelers, I see that you had initially made a decision to take out a policy with us effective May 27, 2013. About a week later, you indicated that you decided not to insure with Travelers and we cancelled the policy the same day it was scheduled to go into effect, May 27, 2013. In our conversation, you indicated that in that timeframe, you had never cancelled your policy with Progressive Insurance and that it still remains in effect today.

Per our conversation, I recommend contacting Progressive and have them send proof of insurance to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. This should clear up any pending suspension of your license and indicate that you had no lapse in coverage.

We regret the inconvenience this has caused you and we are also sorry that we lost the opportunity to do business with you. "

Review: I added a Kia Rio to my insurance policy last year, received cards paid monthly premiums. When I received a renewed policy the Kia Rio was not added. I called my insurance person, he said he'd look into the matter. Weeks later I get an enormous bill a jump from two hundred plus dollars to a thousand plus a month. Called the insurance person again. Apparently the premium was miscalculated, I'm not exactly sure what the problem was. What I am sure of, is I told my agent if that amount didn't come down, we were changing companies. We have changed companies, better rates. Now we are receiving a bill from Travelers for unpaid fees for six months for $1496.50. We had not had any problems prior to adding the Kia the outrageous bill caused us to change & all premiums were paid prior to this problem. Your assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, sincerely Kurf FrazierDesired Settlement: Travelers to close account & go away.

Review: Due to serious weather related claims, this past winter, Travelers, on short notice, dropped my homeowners insurance. I've been a Traveler's customer since 1991 or before and a graduate of the University of [redacted]. I am a self employed senior ([redacted] / [redacted]) and all of my policies were with Travelers. Despite being assured by adjusters that the two claims in one season were not a problem, and first repairs and more bad weather contributed to further damage. Travelers even fought me on my roof repair/replacement because they said they didn't inspect the roof due to 2 feet of snow but said the water was obviously coming from the roof, as we have no attic, and I should make the necessary repairs. The underwriting reps were rude. I was forced to take a temporary state policy at considerably more cost. I have other media associates who suffered the same indignity from The Travelers!Desired Settlement: I want to have my policy reinstated. Refund for added cost and inconvenience. Redefined claims for catastrophic weather incidents. Return of all discounts for multiple policies, customer loyalty and extra benefits. And, Travelers to be publically fined and warned to change the big attitude to hurt the little, loyal and senior customers. Thank you.

Response:

A response was sent 1/4/2016 to [redacted] as follows:

"You have requested payment for Additional Living Expenses (temporary housing) while your residence is deemed uninhabitable by mold growth. Our investigation has determined the cause of the mold growth is water leaking from your hot water heater, for a period of 2 to 3 months. As discussed via telephone, email & regular mail on 12/29/2015, since the constant or repeated seepage or leakage of water, or the presence of condensation of humidity that occurs over a period of 14 days or more is not a peril Insured against, your policy does not provide coverage.

Review: I applied for auto and homeowners insurance through Travelers Insurance Company and the policy was effective in October of 2015. They sent an inspector to the house and sent a notice that they were going to cancel our insurance if the following items were not responded to: 1.) debris around the house, 2.) complete a farm questionnaire, 3.) peeling of the stain on the siding of the house and 4.) answer questions about how many dogs, etc. I called Travelers as soon as I received the notice and asked what the debris was and they indicated that there was a beam on the ground on the back side of the house that was a trip hazard and needed to be replaced. I told them that we have a claim into the siding company about the peeling on the siding ,which today I received notification that they would replace the siding free of charge and at the time they said that was ok, I completed the farm questionnaire and answered questions about the dogs. We removed the beam that my husband uses in his construction business and moved it per their request. I contacted them to let them know that we had done this and to see if that was it. A different person said that the debris was not the beam but a ladder on the side of the shed which needed to be removed. So we removed that and contacted them after we had taken pictures to show them it had been removed. At that time they indicated that there were issues with our shingles and they would cancel us because of the shingles, which wasn't even one of the items that was on the original list. The shingles are 25 year shingles and we have since gone with another insurance company and they agree that the shingles do not need to be replaced because there is no significant wear. I talked to a supervisor at Travelers because I was very upset that the shingles were an issue for cancellation now and after not having it in the letter and not being told after the first few phone calls how could they now cancel me because of yet another issue. The supervisor talked to an underwriter and got approval to rescind the cancellation because he agreed that they hadn't initially indicated that as a reason in their first letter so we had until October of 2016 to either replace the shingles or get an inspector to climb up on the roof and certify that the shingles were fine. That was December 3rd and I have an email that says that from the company. I contacted Travelers on December 7th to be pro-active to find out where they were finding the issues with the shingles on the roof. The service provider had to contact the underwriter and that was December 7th. They couldn't specify. Today I received a cancellation notice effective December 22nd unless we replace the shingles or we get the inspector out. I have moved my insurance today from Travelers because I am so upset at their service. They kept changing their story and couldn't keep their story straight. If a client calls them to request what needs to be completed in order to continue their insurance, they should be able to tell them directly and not continue to change their story. I contacted them no less than 15 times within the past 2 weeks. That can be documented by looking at their records and I have the letter from the company saying they would not cancel me and 4 days later another letter saying that they were going to cancel me.Desired Settlement: That they be reported by Revdex.com for negligence in their actions.

Review: Travelers Insurance Company is refusing to cover the repair cost to the top of my 2000 Volvo C70 convertible which was damaged in an accident that my husband had on May 17, 2015. Travelers covered all the other damages identified by its appraiser. But unfortunately its appraiser not only never started the car when doing his inspections, but he also neglected to examine and/or operate the top, even though its operation involves several areas of the car that were damaged in the accident impact. The top has worked flawlessly for 15 years, was working fine the day before the accident, and stopped working immediately after the accident. Volvo of [redacted], CT stated on its repair invoice (this is a direct quote) that "Accident impact could/may (have) caused issue...." So, even though Travelers covered the repair cost to our 15-year-old convertible, they are now telling us that they will not cover the supplemental repairs to the damaged top because of the "age of the vehicle" and "lack of positive proof." And even though the Travelers appraiser neglected to check the top operation, he and his superior are denying our claim on the grounds that the malfunction was "coincidental."Desired Settlement: That Travelers pay for the repairs to the top of my 2000 Volvo C70 convertible, which was working flawlessly the day before my husband's accident and stopped working immediately after the accident.

Prior to receiving the Revdex.com complaint, Travelers received this directly from [redacted].Travelers position remains unchanged since the 9/16/2015 response to Mr.[redacted], therefore another response is not going to be sent.

Review: We (my wife and I) recieved a bill in April for our renters insurance which was more than double the initial bill. After reviewing the bill bill the we called Travelers to enquire they said that we missed a payment. and a late fee was assessed. I asked what the $5.00 service charge was for and she said that it was for sending out monthly bills. I explained that I did not recieve the bill she claimed that they sent but, after a heated conversation we asked to be transferred to a supervisor. The supervisors name was [redacted] of [redacted] in [redacted]. After a long conversation we decided that we would cancel our service and that we deserved customer service without the negativity and the derogatory comments from the agent, We asked fer to give us a date that we were paid through so that we woud have a zero balance and that we woud cancel on that date. She told us that that date was 5/19/15.

Today upon calling back to confirm the cancellation date the Agent [redacted] explained to me that the policy would generate another billing cycle and we would get an additional bill and that the actual date was in the beginning of April. There are two major problems one being that we were not covered as they claimed we were. If there would have been a claim they would not have paid it. Secondly, the agent and Supervisor gave us some false information and as a result we are occurring additional fees. Although these are small amounts its about the principle and it undermines the entire priciple of insurance. Insurance should be there when you need them as per contract.Desired Settlement: We would like a billing adjustment and a statement of these practices to be mailed and/or emailed to all policyholders to inform the public of what they should be expecting and/or how the company has made some procedural changes to prevent this from happening to anyone else.

A response was sent from Travelers 5/27/2015.The response outlined the payments made, and billed, and the outcome was the $10.00 late charge has been waived, which reduced the amount now due.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: The offer reduces late charge for which the company was responsible for but it does not address the misinformation given to us by the customer service representatives which put us in a situation where we were not insured and cost us additional premiums. It also does not change the problem of misinformation to the public.

Review: I HAD A TRAVELERS POLICY FOR ONE MONTH AND WHEN I REALIZED THAT THEY WERE NOT HONORING THEIR WORD AND THE PRICE I WAS QUOTED I CALLED IN AND CANCELED THE POLICY AND I THAT MY MONEY BE REFUND TO MY CARD FOR THE MONTH I PAID IN ADVANCE. I WAS TOLD THE POLICY WAS CANCELED AND I RECEIVED A REFUND TO MY CARD. TURNS OUT THEY LIED AND DID NOT CANCEL THE POLICY AND NOW ALMOST A YEAR LATER I AM RECEIVING A BILL FOR A SERVICE I CANCELED AND I AM VERY UPSET AND DO NOT OWE THIS MONEY. THEY ALSO CHARGED ME FOR A POLICY I NEVER AUTHORIZED ONLY ASK FOR A QUOTE ON FOR ANOTHER PROPERTY I OWN. THEIR PRACTICES AND ILLEGAL AND THEY CAN'T AUTOMATICALLY CHARGE FOR A POLICY YOU ONLY ASKED FOR A QUOTE ON AND NEVER ESTABLISHED OR OKAYED SERVICE FOR.

Review: My company, [redacted] Inc., has had all of our business insurance-including auto insurance, from Travelers Insurance through [redacted] and [redacted] for years. We have always paid our bills and kept our account in good standing. On January 8, 2013, our technician was getting ready to head to his first service call in our company car when he realized it was missing. Assuming it had been stolen, he called the police. Many hours and phone calls and angry customers later it was discovered that the car was actually towed due to lack of insurance. Many phone calls later I came to find out that, although we had been paying Travelers for auto insurance on this car each month, their underwriter never reported it to the DMV. We lost three customers, and approximately $1800 in service revenue, that day who had been waiting for service calls and finally called other companies when our technician was unable to get to them. The cost of the towing and storage at the impound lot, which we were forced to pay, was $199.90. We were also forced to rent a car for our technician to use while Travelers cleaned up the mess that they had created, and that cost us $234.35. Then, we lost another half day of service revenue, or about $600, when our technician had to go to court to fight the ticket that we had received for not having insurance on that vehicle. Most importantly, this incident has severely damaged our reputation as a reliable service provider. This all came after months of billing issues and awful customer service that we had overlooked because we had more important things to take care of. Travelers has fully admitted that they are totally at fault in this matter, yet they refuse to reimburse us any of the related costs, including our out of pocket expenses that we only had to pay because of their error.

A response was sent to [redacted] on 6/21/2013, from Travelers Select Account Underwriting. After careful review of our records, unfortunately Traveler's would not be able to cover the rental, towing and ticket expenses that were incurred based on the original endorsement received from the agent and sent in our processing center.

When it came to our attention that the endorsement request was incorrectly transposing the vehicles to be added and deleted from the auto policy we immediately set in motion actions to amend the endorsement to reflect correctly the vehicles to be added and deleted.

In addition, we cleared the suspension notice [redacted] had received as soon as the amending endorsement was processed.

Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2013/06/28) */

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT ACCEPT the response from the business.)

Travelers has no offered me any settlement, nor have they offered any explanation for their position that it is my responsibility to pay for their error. All their response did was admit their error and reiterate the fact that they feel I should have to pay for it. The fact that they corrected the problem AFTER it cost me money, hurt my company's reputation, and I spent a day on the phone trying to get the root of the problem, does nothing to address the fact that none of this should have ever happened in the first place and that my company was forced to pay for their company's incompetence.

The facts remain the same. I paid them for a service. They led me to believe that they were providing this service. They failed to provide this service. I was force to pay money, waste time, lose customers, and suffer damage to my reputation because of their negligence. Their response to my complaint, which is the first contact I received from Travelers at all since this happened almost 6 months ago, failed to even address the most basic of my complaints against them.

These expenses occurred only as a direct result of their failure to provide the service I had paid them for., therefore these expenses are their responsibility.

Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2013/07/15) */

A response was sent to Ms. [redacted] on July 8, 2013 from Travelers Underwriting Department. In response to her recent letter; we apologize if the initial letter was not clear. After careful review of our files Travelers has determined that there was no error on our part. Travelers processed the changes exactly per the initial request that we received from the agent. When it was brought to our attention that the change request sent to us was incorrectly transposing the vehicles to be added and deleted we immediately corrected it. While we certainly empathize with Ms [redacted] for the inconvenience and financial loss this has caused her we want be clear that there was no error on Travelers' part.
