I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Ok here we go again . I feel should not have to explain this all again but will give you the short version  1) Ihave not been sent any shipping labels. 2)I have sent them back the first carb the sent me which was totally wrong and not mine . I sent it twice in fact because they rejected it the first time.Ok that now has brought my shipping cost up to sixty dollars. 3) Karb King had there costumer send me a carb that was suppose to be mine and rebuilt .That was not the case by there own admission when I sent them photos of it .Then Karb king said they would rebuild me a carb from the original build sheet because they lost my carb. They did send me a carb from who knows what but will not work in my application with out major modifications.
I think that any reasonable person would agree that me the customer is being wronged here not Kirby King .
Like I keep saying send me two shipping Lables and I will send back the junk that was sent me.
I have a all original  low milage pickup truck  that I wanted to keep that way and Karb kings loosing of my carb has ruined that!
I'm out sixty dollars in shipping cost one hundred forty five dollars for a rebuild  and the cost of a replacement carb.
If the karb king would have done what they said on the first try I would not have a problem now.
I want a refund and two shipping labels which means I will still be taking a loss. But I feel I won't have to deal with there lies and there inability to admit they screwed up!!
I don't care to hear any more about this matter . My next step is the state attorney general. being that nothing is getting resolved her
Please note I have ( fourteen pages of email showing all the lip service and run around I have been give along with receipts for shipping  and photos to back my claims )
Regards,

The fact that this customer even filed this complaint as well as included what he believed to be important information regarding our sales and marketing techniques is simply ridiculous. This is somebody who threatened us upon receiving a carburetor custom-built to his specs with reporting us to...

authorities far and wide regardless of his complicity in the matter for baseless claims which are truly without merit and, thus, would constitute filing false reports.

When a customer completes our online order form and agrees to the terms and conditions therein, we build a carburetor to spec based on what we think his application requires. If you live in California and have a performance oriented vehicle and we decide that it does not need a choke plate or electric choke, then we are going to build him a performance carburetor without those items present. Similarly, if we believe the jetting and air bleeds should be X and not Y, we will install those accordingly. In other words, what sets us apart from the other companies is both our entry-level price point and the fact that we tune each carburetor based on the specs supplied to us in the online order form. This is based on years of expertise setting up carburetors for specific applications.

The customer is generally a layman whose only knowledge of carburetors is where they go on the engine, and generally has no tuning knowledge and, therefore, has no place to comment on our custom-built carbs--after all that's why the carb was sent to us in the first place: for our knowledge and expertise. Unfortunately, no customer usually installs and runs them at this point--otherwise they would understand and not even think of complaining as they run so well.

In this case, the customer did not appreciate that we felt he did not need a choke system on his performance carburetor. While we explained the lack thereof was part of his overall tuning package, the customer made his threats and demanded a carburetor with an electric choke despite our custom tune.

Indeed, we sent him a carburetor with an electric choke to satisfy his demands. The fact that the choke Was one brand and not another is erroneous--they still function the same way and, in fact, the one wire hook up is far more desirous then a two wire hook up.

In any event, when the customer did receive this carburetor, he contacted us and told us that it was damaged in shipping--which he fails to mention in this complaint to the Revdex.com. We immediately offered to take the carburetor back and make the necessary repairs free of charge even though all carburetors are shipped FOB Pittsburgh and it is the responsibility of the customer to follow up on any claims regarding shipping damage. We explained this to the customer and directed him to determine his options against the shipper while we performed the repairs.

The customer, well aware of the potential for damage in shipping, asked us to send him a parts list of items that he could use himself to repair the carburetor rather than send it back. We agreed to do this at no cost to him and the next thing that happened was we received this complaint from the Revdex.com.

Once again, the customers claims are baseless and without merit--we sent him a custom carburetor that he simply did not like. We then sent him a carburetor that fulfilled the order and had the choke he required which was then damaged in shipping, and we offered to repair that carburetor by sending him parts free of charge. The customer--with no warning to us, having agreed to the foregoing simply filed this claim and listed ridiculous information that is both superfluous and false regarding his order, and our alleged methods of doing business.

We stand by the terms and conditions all of our customers agree to when submitting their online order form and we make every attempt to go above and beyond when trying to satisfy their orders. Despite this customer's obvious attempts to mislead the Revdex.com and attempt to stir even more misleading, fanatical information into an uncorrobable mire of fiction, we will still honor our commitment to send him the parts he needs to repair his carburetor.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
The response to my complaint is a lie.
Karb King only had my carburetor two (2) times NOT 3 (three).
They did NOT address the other problems in the reply about my complaints, just blamed one (1) problem on USPS, which I suspect was damaged BEFORE shipping.
I sent 50$ EXTRA to carb King when I sent the carb back to them, waited for a reply, did not get a call even though I sent a note detailing the many problems in the box with the extra 50$ mail order.
I called them Friday afternoon (after 5) and left a message expecting a reply Monday, but they DID call me at about 7:30 PM on that Friday.
The person I talked to apologized MANY times for the many screw-ups. and said he would personally oversee the rebuild.
I said I sent 50$ more, he said that wasn't necessary, and would send the 50$ back, AND custom (my choice) color the carb for me. I did NOT receive the 50$ back when the carb was sent back.
They usually "paint" the carbs a non factory color that it seems only they use.
He gave me a choice of clear or gold, (maybe others, but clear sounded good to me).
When I got the carb back it was filthy (they cleared over dirt and painted the ends their color, and still had a loose choke plate, which fell off when I took pictures today of it.
I have more to say, but would like to talk to an actual Revdex.com person, if possible.
If there is someone I can text pictures to of the carb, I could do that, since I can't see a way to send the pictures of the current condition of the carb.
It definitely does not look like a 230$ rebuild, or even one that can work properly !
My # is ###-###-####, you probably have it on file, but I thought I would make it easier for you.
Please feel free to call me any time.
Thank you for your time,'
God (Jesus) Bless,

The customer negotiated a significant credit against our usual charges by sending in a used core carburetor that was not in the best shape. We are however very used to getting carbs in poor condition regardless of how the customer describes it.

We provided a significant...

credit towards the build wiping out not only our core charge but a significant portion of our rebuilding to charge despite the condition of the carburetor.

We've been built the carburetor out of our stock to the customer specifications tested it and shipped it to the customer.

Based on the customers understatement the car was obviously damaged in shipping through no fault of ours and thoughts would not run correctly. While we do apologize for the damage and shipping it is clearly stated on our website that all carburetors are shipped FOB Pittsburgh and that any damage is the fault of the shipper and the responsibility of the customer to seek damages for. In fact the customer must agree to those very terms when placing their order.

In most cases we happily take back the carburetor and repair the damage incurred in shipping usually without charge to the customer. We offered the very same to this customer and did not require payment of any kind nor payout from any claims he may have filed against the USPS for the damage.

Despite our offer the customer went ahead and purchased a brand-new carburetor from a third-party and requested a refund to offset that cost, without ever having given us a chance to repair his shipping damaged carb.

As it is clearly stated in the terms and conditions we mentioned earlier that the customer must agree to when ordering a carburetor from us, we do not offer cash refunds of any kind under any circumstances and as stated above are not liable for any damage incurred in shipping.

Although we did offer to repair said damage the customer declined to take us up on that declined to file a claim with USPS and went for his own remedy which was purchasing a brand-new carburetor outside of this transaction.

That said the best we can do at this point is offer him a $105 credit on account towards future work or parts but we cannot and will not attempt to reimburse him even partially for his new carburetor purchase.

This entire mess was the result of their mistake. They admitted that to me on their first call. It is a very poor business that constantly blames mistakes on their customers. I NEVER stated my engine as a "383" Neither in my initial DETAILED email to the company, or on my order form. I am offended by the constant reference to my being a novice. I am an ASE certified PROFFESSIONAL who has been in the business for over 25 years. The only novice mistake I have made was to trust this company to do quality work, and stand behind it as I do all of My work.
As to their constant statements of how they will build a better carb for me if I ship them another. They assured me over the phone that they would refund my shipping the first time I had to do this. I never received my refund. So they LIED. As to the shipping. The box arrived stamped from the post office that it was received damaged. Who am I to believe? Either way, the carb was packed with little to no protection. One piece of plastic, and one small piece of used bubble wrap is not nearly enough.
Besides ALL of that. The carb would not work on a 383, or any other motor. They say they are "Bolt on and go" This so called expertly built carb. has no choke whatsoever, not even the choke blade. It was dirty, and PAINTED to look clean, both fuel inlets were stuck closed so it would not even accept fuel! Besides the fact that it wasn't even the MODEL carb. they said they would send. Buyer beware! Any quality company that cares about their customers would never behave this way!

First of all, we are responding on the 13th day of the 14 day allotted time, and, thus, the Revdex.coms time limit has not run.

Second, we have made every effort to bring this matter to close, including sending multiple carbs for this customers perusal and use at our cost, yet the customer continues to withhold unused and unpaid for unit(s) despite our requests and attempts to have them sent back. Return labeling was contained in the last shipment to him, along with yet another carb that satisfied his order yet again.

We've gone above and beyond in this instance, and simply cannot continue sending multiple units out they are rejected by a layman customer who not only mistakenly feels they don't satisfy the requirements he provided in our online order form, but continues to essentially hold carbs he didn't pay for or use as hostage--as well as attempting to leverage the matter with a Revdex.com complaint AFTER purportedly settling this with us.

We are at an apparent impasse: we do not give cash refunds per our terms and conditions the customer agreed to upon placing his order, and we've satisfied the order several times over with units provided and shipped to the customer at our cost, yet we've not only not received the unwanted unit back, but have had to endure this complaint process despite an existing agreement and satisfaction thereof.

Not sure if anything will remedy this matter now.

First, we are responding within the time slotted by the Revdex.com, despite the notice on the complaint.

Second, as we've stated before, by necessity, we replace parts that have been damaged in shipping, usually at our cost. The Holley 1850 carburetor is a ubiquitous standard carb that is very widely used--there is nothing special about them, and are, essentially, generic. That said, whether we used the customers unit, another unit, or a mix of parts of both due to damage, the carb will perform the same way, provided it is tuned properly--which it was.

As for the damage incurred on the return shipment to the customer, all carbs are shipped fob Pittsburgh, meaning bother the customer and the shipper are responsible for the unit once it leaves our shop. This is standard industry practice and clearly noted on our webpage.

Regardless we had made arrangements with the customer to replace the damaged choke At our expense while he filed the necessary claim for damages. Instead of following through on his commitment based on our agreement the customer decided to file this complaint despite our best efforts to solve the matter. We are still willing to replace that choke cap at our expense despite the customers erroneous Revdex.com filing.

Finally as it does not look like this matter will be resolved to this customers satisfaction, we must once again point out our terms and conditions as agreed to by the customer when placing his order. We have fulfilled those terms and conditions and made every attempt to satisfy this customer within those guidelines.

Now I will start at the beginning. When Karb King informed me that they only gave a $50.00 credit for my carburetor as exchange for the new one. I asked (on the same day) how much for a "core" they said $25.00 Since my existing carb is worth over $150.00 I decided to keep it. Marketing tactic on there part to increase their profits. Secondly, I do not receive a copy of their "order form" Convenient for them so I can't prove a typo or not. I do however, have copies of my email and their response where I describe in detail my 283 engine in a show truck for street driving only. They responded saying how too big my original 650 CFM carb was, and they would replace with a much smaller "Avenger" 570 CFM carb. This carb would be way too small for a 383 cu.in. engine that I supposedly stated I had. I love how they describe my actions as "Fanatical" "Terse" and "insulting" when this entire transaction is due to their mistake (admitted) and their lack of professionalism in handling it. I reluctantly agreed to return the first mistake before receiving what I paid for directly because of how I was treated. I did not want to spend more money RISKING satisfaction. They FORCED me to send their mistake back first assuring me they would refund my shipping. I never received said refund. That was supposed to be sent out the same day they received the carb from me. It took a total of 7 days to receive my carb. it arrived in a beat up box clearly marked by the Post office that it was received damaged. Inside the carb was packaged with 1 piece of plastic, and one used up piece of bubble wrap. The linkage was bent, the floats were stuck, it was dirty and painted to look clean, it had no choke butterfly which would not be remotely useable for the street. It was not an "Avenger" model carb which they stated they would build. Upon further examination, The inside had dirt and grit, the wrong power valve, and the wrong jets. Even if my order form said 383 instead of 283, which I doubt. My email, and the rest of my order form clearly stated a smaller displacement engine and street driving conditions only. If THEY had some confusion, a simple phone call from them would have cleared things up. Never once could I reach them by phone, and the only time they called me was after I got irate with them. They talk about communicating in a variety of ways, Just more rhetoric from them to cover their mistakes. My complaint is far from "baseless" and without merit. I am out $250.00 and lots of time for a completely useless carburetor that could not "bolt on and go" no matter what engine I have. I stand by my statement calling them liars due to this fact and the fact that I was promised a refund of my second shipping expense.
Should this "retailer" choose to recant their behavior and refund my costs I would accept and return their defective, misrepresented, poorly assembled, parts missing, dirty, carburetor. [redacted]

Once again we have made every effort to satisfy this customer including sending him multiple carburetors no additional cost spite the fact that he is never sent back one, regardless of the shipping labels he has received, and apparently discounted.

Although we had an agreement wherein we would build this customer yet another carburetor despite having never having received the initial Builds back, he outside of the agreement [redacted] filed a complaint with the Revdex.com but posted other baseless reviews about his transaction that will without merit on various Internet forums. Once again despite that we went out of our way to building yet another carburetor which apparently still does not satisfy him.

At this point hourly choices to standby the terms and conditions this customer agreed to when placing his order until and unless the initial carburetors he is holding hostage our return to us. At that time we will determine if there's anything else we can do to satisfy the situation.

This matter has been resolved with the customer, despite his unwillingness to send back the apparent wrong unit, out of good faith, we shipped him another carburetor at no additional cost.

Thank you for your efforts Revdex.com but I thought they would try to sleaze out of giving me my money back.   This was not a shipping problem even though the shipping and packaging looked like it was done by a 7 year old.  I would have accepted the carb in the packaging it came in but they did not rebuild the carb.   The pictures above are of the carb after I got it back rebuilt by them.   The pictures show the carb after 30 days in their possession.   8 emails and 5 phone calls resulted in this carb.  I have had the carb rebuilt by someone locally who actually does the work.  I would recommend no one use these guys for any kind of work.  They are stealing $145.00 from me and have the nerve to ask me to send the carb back and let them screw me again.  I gave them a chance to do the right thing and return my money now I will begin providing the pictures and info above to anyone who will listen.  I dont want my fellow restorers to be screwed like I was.

How can a legitimate business claim that they met their "terms and conditions" when: 1) they lost my Holley 1850 (3444) carburetor (without any explanation why or how), 2) the 1st replacement unit was damaged and missing electrical choke (they claim that's how my car should be set up in CA with no choke); 3) the 2nd unit was again damaged and dusty (never rebuilt, old crusty gaskets, loose screws, etc.  I gave them 2 chances but they failed miserably.  These guys are crooks and should not be in business.   So Karb King,  what did you do with my original carb I sent you?
Regards,
[redacted]

It appears the customers unit was damaged in shipping. Our units are sent out FOB Pittsburgh and, once shipped, become the responsibility of the customer and the shipper. In the event of damage, the customer is responsible for filing a claim against the shipper. We will gladly make the...

necessary repairs to the unit upon the claim being fulfilled if the customer returns the unit for such.Second, while it may be difficult to tell with the damage, the unit was, indeed, rebuilt. We did, indeed, lose the patriarch of the company recently, which both put us behind and in a scheduling/progress quandary which we, thankfully, have finally put behind us. Regardless, we do apologize for the delay in shipping. As for any other issues, we point to the Terms and Conditions the customer agreed to upon placing his order, and stand by that contract.

Review: I ordered a carburetor from these people back in November 20th of 2014. I sent them a cashiers check in the amount of $230. I have yet to receive a return of my money or a product. here is conversation per emails: November 13th 2014 Thanks for your order--we'll hand your completed form over to The King's minions so they'll be ready when your Karb arrives.

We'll use the GPS coordinates to confirm your altitude and set up the carb as such.

As far as lower altitude use we would recommend the use of premium fuel or an octane additive. Red Line makes a good product.

If you're local, simply respond with a mappable address, a good time for pick up, and we'll do just that.

If you live in an outlying kingdom, simply drain, bag, and medium flat rate box your Karb and ship via the USPS only to:

Karb King, [redacted] Please include your--you guessed it--USPS Money Order or certified funds in the amount of $230(plus any additional amounts for Kustom Modifications and/or Kompetition Stages). We'll email you confirmation upon receipt and get started right away.

Upon completion--usually two or three days--we'll send you shipping and tracking info to get your wrenches ready so you can stomp that loud pedal and enjoy your new Karb King Karb as soon as humanly possible.

Thanks again for choosing The King!

A USPS money order or certified funds for $230. We will get started upon receipt set it up test it and ship it out priority mail to you ASAP thereafter.

Review: I ordered a "blow thru" Carburetor from the "karb kings" I gave them the specs for my car that was necessary to complete the build (specifically requesting "Mechanical Secondaries" because this is a Turbo set-up, meaning the carb will be pressurized and will never have vacuum.) I was originally told june 17th that the carburetor would be ready to ship by the time they received the money and trade in carb in the mail, it was received by them june 24th. My carburetor was supposedly being tested by the builder and would be shipped when finished. I did not receive the new carb until july 6th. The purchased terms said that I was buying a Used, but rebuilt, cleaned, and tested carburetor. When I got the carb I instantly noticed that it had Vacuum secondaries not mechanical, so right off the bat the carb was not what I ordered and would never work on my car. upon further inspection by a professional I learnedthat the vacuum secondaries were seized and wouldnt even open unless you used a lot of force (a car would never be able to open it)! There was soot in the carb- it was not cleaned, the throttle linkage was bent and busted, the accelerator pump did not work, the flanges were rusted (if that went into my motor it would most definitely cause serious issues.) The spring that returned the throttle linkage to the closed position was so rotted and old that it wouldnt even connect to the linkage let alone be strong enough to be of any use. they did not fill the choke hole, which proves they did not test it. There is absolutely no way you can build pressure in the carb with a giant hole in it(would be like blowing up a balloon with a hole in it, you would instantly know the balloon had a hole) when I asked for my money back because it was so bad they said no cash refunds and it was damage in shipping. This seems to be a trend if you read reviews. They ship these broken products with $50 insurance through usps, blame it on shipping, say we can claim insurance through usps. Isnt that Insurance fraud??Desired Settlement: for $245 in the form a money order plus $40 trade in credit (sent them the carb that was on my car) I paid 12.35 to ship that to them. $297.35 total. After receiving the carb they just pulled out of the garbage and sent to me I paid 12.35 again to send it back to them. I have lost $307.70 all together because of this scam. I am currently without a vehicle because I sent them the carb that was on the car, I move across the country for college and will not have a car when I get there due to them

Review: Sent in carb. To be rebuilt and paid. Week later was sent someone else's cracked carb. After repeated unanswered phone calls and email they finally answered. Said it was a mistake and would send me my rebulited carb. Another week I again received an old dirty carb (not mine). I have sent pics. To unanswered emails and unanswered phone messages. No one will reply.Desired Settlement: Refund and my carb returned or completed rebuild back.

Review: We sent a carburetor to this company to have it fixed and the price was suppose to be $125.00 according to their website, but they told us to send $145.00 which I did. Then they said the carburetor got a little damaged in the shipping so they asked us to send in another $50.00 for parts which I did. After receiving the carburetor back, it was in worse shape then when we sent it to them and it looked like nothing at all had been done to make the carburetor work. I sent them pictures of what the carburetor looked like and asked them to please refund my money. We had to actually go to another company that deals in carburetors because we needed it fixed as soon as possible and they wanted me to re-send the carburetor back to them so they could look at it a second time. I told them that since they couldnt take the time to fix it the first time that I had to go somewhere else. They said that they could give me a credit, but they could not refund my money. I do not want a credit with their company as their customer service and their work on carburetors sucks. You can never get a hold of anyone to talk to as they are always aways at "Shows". You can only talk to them through emails. I have sent numerous emais asking them to please refund my original $145.00 back, but they keep telling me that they have to wait for their owner to check into the matter and it has now been close to 2 months without anything. I would not recommed this company to anyone.Desired Settlement: I would like to receive my $145.00 back that I sent to have the carburetor fixed.

Review: My 850 Holley carburetor was sent to Karb King for a tear down and re-jet. After filling out they're required form, and paying to send the carburetor to them, I was never notified when it arrived to them, which it states on the website they will do. I contacted them and was told that it arrived, and was in tear down. They also state that they will let you know when they ship it back to you. It just showed up. No notification. Upon arrival, that carb was dirty, and appeared to have all the same parts that I shipped it with, with the exception of a few gaskets. I installed the carb on my car, and it immediately would not run, and was dumping fuel out the exhaust. I tried calling with no answer. I sent and email a received a reply a few days later by phone, in which I was directed to try a few things. I tried the "remedies" they stated, and it did not fix anything. At this point I was stuck with a non working carburetor, and needing an oil change from the amount of gas that had dumped through the carb. With no success of getting ahold of these guys, I contacted a local re builder to try to fix the carb. Upon his tear down, it was noted that the carb base plate was cracked, and it had all the same parts inside that I sent it to Karb King with. So they did no sort of tuning to it, broke the base plate and sent it back worse than it was. After many phone calls and emails, many that went unanswered, I was told that I would be sent a refund, and a new base plate, which of course never showed up. I now get no replies from anyone there. This has been going on around 3 months.Desired Settlement: I would like the refund for the monies I paid them, and the base plate for my carb. Both of which they said they were going to send, and did not.

Review: Sent carb. In to be rebuilt, they retuned to me the wrong carb, twice. When they sent me my carb... It was not rebuilt so they said they would refund my money and now they won't return my calls or return my money.Desired Settlement: Return my money for work not done

Response:

The customer is mistaken.

First off this matter is several months old and we have been attempting to deal with Mr. [redacted] for that entirety. We have sent him numerous carburetors including the last one which while it wasn't his was rebuilt and tuned to the specifications he provided on his online order form.

Per our terms and conditions on our website that the customer agreed to one place and his online order through our form we cannot and do not offer cash refunds of any kind and have made the customer well aware of this on several occasions. Bus his comment that we offer him a cash refund is simply not true. We would however offer him an in-store credit towards future work in the amount of his build if that will make the situation go away however our redoubled her efforts have proven that this probably won't be the case--though the offer still stands.
