Tri-State Rebuilders, Inc Reviews (83)

Review: On 9/17/14 I sent my carburetor from my 1961 Chevy pickup to Tri-State Rebuilders, Inc. to have them rebuild it. I sent a $145.00 money order to pay for the rebuild. Two weeks later I sent them an email stating that I had not heard from them. After the email the replied that they had received the carburetor and my money. A week went by and I emailed them again requesting status update. No reply. I emailed again and they emailed me saying they were shipping it on Saturday. No carburetor. I called them twice and left messages and they did not return my calls. I emailed them again and they said someone had died and they were behind. On 19/17/14, a full month after sending the carburetor to them they said they would ship it out. I got it today 10/21/14 in a sopping wet with solvent package that the post office said they shouldn't have delivered. Inside was my carburetor which was in a plastic bag and had not been rebuilt, taken a apart or cleaned. It was not rebuilt. I was totally ripped off. Their promise was to return my carburetor in 5 days. I have pictures of the returned carb and the packaging. These people just ripped me off. Now I have to find a reputable place to actually rebuild my carb. No one should do business with these people..Desired Settlement: Just give me my money back $145.00.

It appears the customers unit was damaged in shipping. Our units are sent out FOB Pittsburgh and, once shipped, become the responsibility of the customer and the shipper. In the event of damage, the customer is responsible for filing a claim against the shipper. We will gladly make the necessary repairs to the unit upon the claim being fulfilled if the customer returns the unit for such.Second, while it may be difficult to tell with the damage, the unit was, indeed, rebuilt. We did, indeed, lose the patriarch of the company recently, which both put us behind and in a scheduling/progress quandary which we, thankfully, have finally put behind us. Regardless, we do apologize for the delay in shipping. As for any other issues, we point to the Terms and Conditions the customer agreed to upon placing his order, and stand by that contract.

Review: Ok this all started 3/25-2014 I sent my carburetor to Karb king to have have it rebuilt along with a money order for one hundred and fourth five dollars. I then received a carburetor back form them on 4/ 7/2014 . This carburetor 1) was not the one I sent them 2) Was in a box with a bunch of sand in it anyone knows this is unacceptable . I then called and they told me this was a mistake and mine had been sent to someone else and that they would get it back and send it to me .They told me I would need to send the wrong one back to them in the mean time. I did just that but a week or so goes by and I get a notice that Karb king refused the shipment because the box was damaged . Mind you the shipping cost is on me . So I send it again this time it gets there .I still haven't received my carb from them and when I call they don't answered the phone . So one day I called about fifty times in a row no answer. I then start emailing and I'm then told that there customer was sending my carburetor to me .I did receive that carb and it too was not rebuilt. after several emails of them insisting it was my carburetor and that it was rebuilt I sent them pictures of the carburetor . Then they claimed that there customer pulled a fast one and sent me something else . They wanted me to send them it back but I refused until they send a shipping label . To this day I have not got that shipping label . When I questioned why they don't answered calls they informed me that my phone number was blocked because I called to many times . I have smilingly have had a endless line of stories on when I will get a new carburetor. I have fourteen pages of emails from them and me . I have tried to get my money back my carburetor back all I get is stories . They have taken my money my carburetor and shipping cost and given me nothing useable back all I wanted was for them to do the service that there website states in there rebuilding process. If emails are needed I can supply those .Desired Settlement: I would like to have a refund and my carburetor back it does not have to be rebuilt because I really don't think they are capable of doing it . Ideally I would like them to be put out of business because of how they are taking people's money and not giving anything useable back!

This matter has been resolved with the customer, despite his unwillingness to send back the apparent wrong unit, out of good faith, we shipped him another carburetor at no additional cost.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

So like I said in my first complaint I am waiting on karb king to send me a shipping label I will not send at my cost I have already spent sixty dollars on shipping and nothing usable in return.

As far as this mater being resolved that is not true . Yes it is true I was sent a carburetor at no additional cost to me. But yet again not even close to being able to work on my pickup . If it wasn't for karb Kings inability to simply rebuild a carb as there own website states in its process and not loose my carb to begin with . I would have something that would work on my pickup . If they would just refund my money and send me two shipping labels I will send back the junk they have sent . I will be out my original carb and will be taking a financial loss but at least I would have something instead of be out the money and yet no carb that works,

Regards,

Response:

Once again we have made every effort to satisfy this customer including sending him multiple carburetors no additional cost spite the fact that he is never sent back one, regardless of the shipping labels he has received, and apparently discounted.

Review: I shipped Karb King a carburetor on 12 September and they said that it would be a week turn around time. I followed up two weeks later with an email and I didn't hear anything back. I called again two weeks ago and they said that I would receive it either the next day or early the next week. I called last week and left a message, sent them an email and tried calling again today and I have heard nothing back.Desired Settlement: I would like the following:1) Receive my product as I requested and they promised.2) If they are unable to rebuild the carburetor, I want it sent back with a full refund to include shipping cost there.
