We sent the customer the following email today MrRudowski, I reviewed your inquiry and your call to our customer service group on March Your account was assigned to Verde by [redacted] Energy in Every [redacted] customer received a notification of this assignment via first class mail on 2/5/ I have attached a copy of this mailing for reference Verde lowered your variable rate upon assignment to $0.1124/KWH The rate stayed at that level until Qwhen it began to increase because of significant increases in energy supply costs, not all of which were passed on to customers by Verde You called our customer service group to cancel your service with Verde on Friday 3/14/and we submitted your cancel to ACE business days later on Wednesday 3/ Even though your account is no longer active with Verde we will send you a billing adjustment check of $which lowers the effective rate on your 4/21/bill back to the $0.1124/KWH rate You should receive your check in approximately weeks Regards, Tony Menchaca Verde Energy

This account was enrolled in December under a monthly variable rate offer which can change with market conditions The account entered service on 2/16/at a rate of $0.0810/KWH and this rate held steady thru June of when it began to increase because of increases in Verde's energy supply costs Thre account was dropped per the customer's request on 2/15/and will leave service at the end of the current billing period on 3/19/ As a good will gesture we have redeemed the customer's $cash bonus and are also proving a $billing refund for the February bill which takes the rate down to $0.0929/KWH The customer will receive both checks within weeks

I have left several voice mails asking customer to call me directly, but she is not returning my callsCustomer originally became active with Verde 11/19/Service end date of that original account was 9/21/16.Our telemarketing group called customer on 9/14/and customer re-enrolled account with the 7.49/kwh rate agreementThird Party Verification recording attachedAt time of 2nd enrollment, we offered a $cash back bonus rebate, which I have processedCustomer should receive two $checks within business days.Final day with Verde Energy will be 9/20/(date provided by utility: ***)I have also added customer's phone number to Do Not Call list

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and I'll live with this resolution because I did not fully comprehend their change in policy and I have to take responsibility for that However, I do find that this business practice, while legal, to be a bait and switch tactic used in a number of industries Essentially, by cashing their $check, I agreed to be overcharged by more than 70% over the standard rate It is akin to hiding rate increases in the fine print If this were an item of choice, rather than an item of necessity, it would not bother me as much But electricity is a basic need and is not an optional purchase I can afford this overcharging, but many cannot, and this is much like predatory lending in that respect I'm sure other companies in this same business have done the same thing The intent of deregulating utilities like this was to lower the cost to consumers, but in fact, it raises the cost and thus also raises the cost of living and thus reduces the number of jobs and economic growth Verde has a fiduciary responsibility to their stockholders to increase profits and do this legally, which they have done While this process is legal, it is not highly moral I've lost over $in a year because I didn't monitor the rates as I should have since I pay these bills with an automatic monthly charge There was really no change in suppliers, just billing companies In the end, Verde, and other companies like it, did not provide a service, but were simply another form of loan sharking I know this is not the forum to address political financing and unbridled deregulation, but someone should address the larger issue If a policy does not have the desired effect, it should be scrapped I would hope the Revdex.com would let politicians and the public know of this issue I do appreciate Verde refunding a small part of the money I paid -- something they did not have to do I will now scruitinize my monthly bill more closely after this "educational" process which cost me over $ And I thought my education expenses were paid for long ago Sincerely, [redacted]
