Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:First of all, I was verbally abused by your call center employees That is a fact that you've seemingly have chosen to ignore in your summary below In fact, I was hung up on repeatedly because I was requesting to cancel my serviceI was told they could not process my cancellation until I spoke with "upper management" Eventually I did get someone on the phone who did process my cancellation request - so upper management apparently was not necessary after all Furthermore, when I first called I requested to speak with a manager and was given another rep who portrayed themselves as a manager I later found out from their own supervisor that that person was not even a supervisor, let alone a manager It took about hours last night for me to finally cancel my service In the meantime I was hung up on repeatedly, and the reps refused to identify themselves and I could hear their colleagues laughing in the background as the person speaking with me would tell me they didn't have to give me their operator numbers and that I should find something better to do I was even given a fake "employee ID number" by one rep which was admitted to me by the rep who eventually took my cancellation request If you consider this to be a version of me abusing your reps and not the other way around then your interpretation of abuse must equally as deviant as those whom I spoke with last night.Second, as you've acknowledged below I signed up with Verde Energy on January 9th Yet the bill I received for service ending the 26th was still at the [redacted] rate The fact that you consider this to be acceptable is exactly why [redacted] gets away with it Furthermore, as you've acknowledged below I then requested a rate adjustment on February 21st to Yet the bill I received for service ending 2/and 3/again both were still at the higher rate of The fact that you consider this to be acceptable is obviously because your company profits off the difference Both cases are extremely unethical and borderline criminal You can say you don't have control over the date that [redacted] starts a new rate but when you're not doing anything to change it or to resolve the problem then you are complicit in it You've placed the statement "Verde Energy is not required to issue refunds for the difference in fixed rates." in bold letters because you feel that is justification for your unethical behavior However we both know the difference between "requirements" and "expectations" If you expect your customers to be happy then you should be honest and fair with them and treat them with respect By pocketing the difference in the rates paid versus the fair market rate you know as well as I do that it is unfair and unethical And by standing by while [redacted] does the same thing is equally as unethical I expect Verde Energy to have enough moral responsibility to at least refund me the difference which you know is unfairly padding your bottom line at the expense of your customers I also expect Verde Energy to hold its call center reps accountable for their behavior Sincerely, [redacted]

We have held this enrollment so that the account will not switch to Verde One of our customer support staff left a voice message to inform the customer of this

We sent the customer the following email today Hi MrMorris, I reviewed your recent Revdex.com inquiry, I have attached a copy of the enrollment verification that you completed on 4/5/ As indicated in the recording you were enrolled in a variable rate offer which started at $0.0810/KWH and could increase or decrease over time As you know it has increased recently as a result of significant increases in energy costs You will leave service with Verde at the end of the current billing cycle on 5/1/ As a good will gesture we will send you a billing adjustment check for $for your 3/30/bill which lowers the effective rate to $0.0999/KWH and will use this lower rate for your final bill You should receive this check in approximately weeks Regards, Tony Menchaca

Horrible company to deal withCan't actually speak to anyone that can fix the problemCancelled service in April and still getting billed for it and trying to get a hold of someone (anyone) that can help so that they stop charging meActually had a customer service rep yell at meSo unprofessionalI am trying to get my service cancelled

We sent the customer the following email [redacted] ,I received a copy of your Revdex.com inquiry You should have received two notices in December, one indicating that your initial month fixed rate would end in late January and the second a quarterly notice that CT requires us to send to all customers regardless of their statusIf you have already enrolled with a new supplier then your account should switch to your new provider after your current cycle and you will then get that provider's rate If this does not happen and you stay with Verde for your February billing cycle we can refund you the difference between the rate you are charged and the $0.098/KWH rate I hope this helps, [redacted]

We sent the following email to the customer today MsHahn, I have reviewed your Revdex.com inquiry and your two calls into our customer service group I apologize for the delayed response to your calls /> We will issue you a $billing adjustment for your 3/10/bill to make your effective rate $0.0929/KWH and will also use this lower rate on your final bill with Verde on 5/9/ You should receive this check in approximately weeks The 7,KWH meter read for your April bill looks like a mistaken read by [redacted] *** Your usage for the prior months looks comparable to so there should not be any "catch up" in this read You should contact [redacted] to have this corrected It looks to be 6, KWH+ over stated Regards, Tony Menchaca

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: their response is inadequate Their letter announcing the switch from "brown" to "green" energy prices is very deceptive Nowhere does it mention that the rate will most likely increase to almost double the [redacted] "price to compare"Also, I do not understand why Revdex.com continues to give Verde Energy an A+ rating, when even on your own website there are negative reviews, one neutral and one positive? Please see attached the letter I sent to Verde Energy Sincerely, Amy D [redacted] Hi Karen, I do not recall receiving the letter you attached, and how do you know I received it? Did you get a certified read receipt? This switch to renewable energy rates, and the expected increase in the supply portion of my electric service, is a material change in contract I did not expressly accept this change in your new Terms of Service You sent a letter, which I may or may not have received As I read the letter, it does not make clear that the renewable energy rates will most certainly increase, and in fact will almost double Instead, you imply rates will go down — “ if the market rate for electricity drops, your rate may also go down with it.” Never once in the letter do you say the rate will be expected to increase to a rate almost double the [redacted] “rate to compare” Instead, you make a positive spin on the “go green” aspect, which is all great news until you notice your electric bill has increased on average $100/month This is very deceptive communication on your part I am still not happy with the $refund In reading other reviews on Revdex.com, it looks like many others customers have also been deceived I am prepared to escalate this further unless I receive the refund I asked for originally I would like a refund of the supply portion of each of my [redacted] bills equal to the difference between the “price to compare” and Verde Energy’s monthly variable rate on each of my monthly [redacted] bills from the time my fixed rate contract with you expired in August I estimate this to be around $6, Amy DiNunzio

I would be careful in dealing with this company I signed on to their fixed rate and didn't put it on my calendar when it would expire Life happens As soon as my rate expired they doubled my cost per unit, that was in March and we don't use much energy, so I didn't notice The doubled rate was considerably more than the default supplier, probably more than 2x in hindsight I finally called a couple months later when we were using more electricity and wondering why the bills were so high and they said insultingly, "well you should have called when you noticed that we doubled your rate back in March" They offered me a one month discount to stay with them for another fixed year, but I just don't want to have to deal with this repeatedly so I'm going back to my default supplier This is really a case of bait and switch I accept my own responsibility in this, but would recommend you consider the discount carefully and mark it on your calendar Also others report billing errors with them, so you'll have to watch that as well I'm not convinced I got my full year of fixed-price discount or the promised check, but not worth my time to sort back through everything

We sent the following email to the customer The issue was resolved with her weeks ago Janet, I reviewed your recent Revdex.com inquiry As we explained several weeks ago your account was not enrolled in the marketing code that we set up for [redacted] residents and that is why your rate increased on your February bill Your refund check for $related to this bill was mailed yesterday We also changed your rate to the special L [redacted] rate of $0.0990/KWH and this is reflected in your March bill I see that you have dropped your enrollment with Verde and will return to the [redacted] rate at the end of the 5/5/billing cycle Regards, Tony Menchaca

MsAsher was enrolled in a variable rate plan where the rate can change with market conditions As a goodwill gesture last week we issued her $in rebates ($and $rebate) and refunds ($refund) even though she has cancelled her account with Verde We believe we have gone the extra mile with this customer and the inquiry should be considered resolved

The customer enrolled under a variable rate offer which can increase or decrease based on market conditions The initial rate of $0.0659/KWH held steady from the start of service for this account on 9/13/thru January when it increased because of increases in Verde's energy supply costs The account was dropped per the customer's request effective at the end of the last billing period on 2/17/ As a goodwill gesture we will issue the customer a billing refund check of $which represents the difference in their last bill versus a $0.0659/KWH rate for their last bill (1,KWH of usage)
