Review: Yesterday I had a pop up screen called "Blue Screen of Death," come up on my macbook while I was working on my computer. I was trying to download a template when it happened. I clicked to download and that is when the screen came up saying not to do anything but call the number, in the meanwhile there was a very loud alert sound coming through my speakers. I tried clicking on another tab to open and that one seemed to have the same problem too. So I went ahead and called the number. Asking if they were legit about 10-15 times throughout the whole call and they assured me that they were part of Apples services. So I bought into it and ended up letting them take over my computer and do whatever they said they were fixing for over an hour. They told me my ip address had been compromised /breached. They for one couldn't speak very good English which I should have at that time realized this probably isn't real. I asked them where their company was from and they said, "Florida" I have no idea if this is even true. The scammed me into thinking they were helping me when the call was about over and they were done messing with my computer I asked one more time if they were part of [redacted] and I said I was going to call [redacted] to verify. The man got really mad and said if you aren't happy I will give a FULL refund for up to 30 days and I said I would call them back. When I talked with [redacted] they told me it was a scam to call and get my money back. So I called back and tried and tried to get my $500 back it took a lot to get them to say yes after raising my voice a lot. He said it will be in my account in 5-10 business days. Then I get a call back about 15 min later. The guy who I talked to right away and he said, no I can get $200 back and that is it. He was very rude to me. I don't know what will happen now. I have changed all of my passwords and closed bank accounts since then. I am very upset and am warning no one to trust this company, Virus Eraser!Desired Settlement: I would like my full refund back of exactly $507.50. I have my wedding coming up in 3 months and I really don't have this money. If anyone can help me please do. These people tricked me into thinking their services were needed. They flat out lied to me countless times and now they have all of my info. Credit cards, passwords, etc. This is fraud.

Hi,This is in reference to the complaint #[redacted].First of all we would like to mention that if an unwanted pop up appears on the computer screen, Virus Eraser has nothing to do with it. We are Antivirus Software company for [redacted] and [redacted] with Tech Support Services for consumers. We also work with resellers / affiliates to process our sales. It could be possible that when the customer called he reached our one of resellers and as an option Virus Eraser Antivirus Software was offered to the customer. All the proper guidelines were followed before processing the payment as without customer's permission or authorization no charges can be processed. As we can see that customer is looking for a full refund of his money per the desired settlement, we have proceeded with the same. The amount would reflect within 5-7 business days back to customer's account. We hope this resolves the concern and we would like to thank the customer for trying Virus Eraser.Thank you.Regards,Team Virus Eraser

Review: On 2/25/16 my computer way scamed and a phone # was posted on the screen to call which I did and Virus Eraser fixed the problem and gave me a three year contract that there would be no more problems. 4/21/16 my computer was scamed agaim called the # on the screen and Go Geeks fixed problem and at that time I called my credit card and talked to the fraud dedt and stopped payment on virus eraser as they had not given me any service. On June 8,2016 Capital One sent me a letter stating that they were going to charge me the full payment of $1425.00 because I had not followed Virus Eraser's policy of cancellation. I did cancell on June 12, 2016 and have asked for the ballance to be sent to me. I was told, after several phone calls that I have in my email files[which I cannot locate nor can they send] that states that I must first send them a check for $555.99 upon which time after recieving the check they will then send me a check for the full amount in 3 to 5 bussiness days,[August 2, 2016] is the first day I have been able to sit at the computer after a complete knee replatemente to report this having found out this possibibity. Until now my fight has been with Virus Eraser and getting the run around. Phone calls to get iphone gift cards that they would down load a small amount of money onto costing me more money.Desired Settlement: I know that I should have not lost my amger and shoud have looked at my contract. What I believe is fair is a refund on the unused porion on the three year contract. There was two months that I believed that I had protection, so I'm willing to pay for that, though I now know that to be not true. In my heart I believe that this is a scam company.

What happens if they fail to deliever on the refund?

Review: My computer violently started having pop ups, talking to me in a woman's voice stating that I have a harmful and malicious virus that could wipe it my computer if I don't call a specific number from Microsoft. I called a foreigner answered and tried to get me to give them money. Well I'm out of 152.00 and they remoted into my computer stated they fixed the problem and added virus eraser program and if I had any problems before six months to contact them.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund.

Response:

Hi,This is in reference to the complaint filed by [redacted].It could be possible that the customer called for some computer related issue and reached our reseller and after her consent the payment of $152.00 was charged. All the proper guidelines were fol[redacted]d before processing the payment and without customer's permission or authorization no charges can be processed. Also, after proper authorization given by the customer, the technician took a remote session on customer's computer and resolved the issues she was facing. As we can see that customer is looking for a refund of her money per her desired settlement. We have proceeded with the same and refund the money on 7th April, 2016 and the amount would reflect within 5-7 business days. We hope this resolves the concern and we would like to thank the customer for trying Virus Eraser.Thank you.Regards,Team Virus Eraser

Review: On Feb 22 2016 around 3 PM, my computer screen suddenly went blue with a printed and audio message that my computer had a virus or had been hacked and I should call [redacted] immediately to get help to protect my information. I did so, and ended up authorizing a charge of $700 to my credit card for a program, Virus erase, to protect me from further intrusions. Tech support guy said my [redacted] was not capable of protecting me from this virus. I asked how they knew my computer was compromised and he said they had been notified by windows defender.

I later checked the virus erase website and learned that I could get that program for less than $150. I believe I am a victim of an internet scam.Desired Settlement: I do not know if virus erase is a legitimate business; if they are, I do not want to pay more than their advertised price as seen on website. If it is not a legitimate business, I want to make sure they get what they deserve

We are not a scam! Weare a bona fide software company for windows and the mac ([redacted]). We have resellers and partners that work with Virus Eraser Inc. and help our customers with tech support. This customer signeda digital signature for the services rendered at the price that he or she accepted for tech support not just software!! this was a bundle. We have refunded this customer their full amount of their charge as we do with any customer. This needs to be removedfrom this recored. Regards,[redacted],CEO & [redacted] CFO

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: If and when I see a credit on my credit card from this company, I will reconsider. However, I did not contact this company first...my computer was hijacked; There was a sudden blue screen and a written and audio message that my computer was hacked or had a virus and that I should call the phone number listed immediately. This message was given constantly and urgently. When I called the number and asked how they knew my computer was hacked, they said windows defender notified them. They supposedly loaded Virus eraser on my computer, but when I checked this morning, only a trial version was installed and the "key" I was given to register did not work. All of this leads me to believe that I was scammed...what else is there to believe?[redacted]

Consumer

Response:

Regarding complaint ID [redacted], I want to report that Virus Erase has credited a $700 refund to my credit card, as they stated they would do; however, I question the method they used to get me to purchase their product. I computer was hijacked by someone, and I was not able to close it out or turn it off, even by unplugging from power source ( it is a laptop)until I called the phone # shown at the bottom of the screen, at which time I was connected to Virus Erase. This seems to me a questionable way to do business, and virus Erase should investigate how this could happen in a reputable business. As for me, I am satisfied with the results of my report to the Revdex.com.

Review: I was scammed by Virus Eraser to buy their services. A full screen WARNING with beeping noises appeared on my computer saying to NOT close down your computer ~ DO NOT go off this screen and call this number immediately ~ You've been hacked!! I called and they led me to believe that I had multiple problems with people trying to get into my personal business. They told me [redacted] the virus protection I had was not good enough to handle what I use the computer for. I needed to have them go into my computer to clean it up and install Virus Eraser immediately. I was scared and let them take over my cercer. They supposedly took care of the problems and took [redacted] out and put their Virus protection in. They then charged me $907.50 for lifetime protection. This happened on 4/29/16. After talking to a friend who knows about computers and telling him what happened he told me I was scammed. [redacted] is just fine. They took advantage of me. I called Virus Eraser on 4/30/16 and told them I wanted to cancel their services immediately and get refunded my 907.50. They repeatedly tried to talk me into keeping their services. I was angry and told them absolutely NOT. I want my money back. They said they had to charge me $200.00 because they did do service on my computer but would refund me $707.50. I told them I didn't need them to do that service as I was felt forced to use their services. They told me they would only refund me $707.50 with in 5-7 days. It is now 12 days and every time I call them they keep telling me to either call back in 2 hours or that someone will be calling me. Finally today 5/10/16 a girl [redacted] told me they put in a refund on 5/5. No refund was applied to my account, I called the bank and they said there should not be a problem putting money back into my account. [redacted] told me she would have someone call me back, As always, NO ONE called me back. They are giving me a run around. Their # is [redacted] my order ID # is [redacted]. I've called so much I think they know who I am. HELP!Desired Settlement: Refund to my account they have on file for $907.50. I have since had [redacted] security put back on my computer and had them remove Virus Eraser. This is fraud when they keep telling me someone will call me back to resolve this and no one ever calls me back.

Response:

I have received a credit of $907.50 from Virus Eraser on 5/12/16. Thank you very much, [redacted]

Review: I received a popup on my computer on June 2, 2016 stating that I had computer problems and needed to call a [redacted] certified technician. Because of the loud beeping noise on my computer which caused me to panic, I called. I paid $1,007.50 to fix the computer and install Virus Eraser. My credit card was charged by Virus Eraser not their reseller. On June 3, I called Virus Eraser requesting a refund as I decided I did not want the service completed nor the product (computer was shutdown before either was completed). The contract and website states that there is a 30-DAY MONEY BACK GUARANTEE for all services and products. I spoke to a gentleman named [redacted]. He told me that he would have to charge a one-time fee, on another credit card (which sounds like a scam), for the work done by their reseller, to which I did not wish to pay as the service was not completed and Virus Eraser was never installed. By the end of the conversation, I was promised a full refund of $1,007.50 as he would be waving the one-time fee. He was rude and said he would not survive in this business if he was being nice. He confirmed that I would receive an email confirmation within 2-3 days and a refund in 10-15 days. I did not receive the email but was more concerned with the refund. I called back on June 14 to confirm the refund as I never received the email. I spoke to another individual who told me [redacted] did not work for them (that he worked for the reseller even though I called the Virus Eraser number when I spoke to [redacted]) and that I would have to pay the one-time fee because [redacted] did not process the refund. Again, the individual was not nice, and the conversation did not go as the other did, as I refused again to pay the one-time fee (which was a different amount than was stated in the previous phone call). He told me I would have to call the reseller to ask for them to waive the one-time fee, so I decided to give that a shot. The individual who answered said they were with Virus Eraser not the reseller, but nonetheless, she confirmed with the tech that the work was NOT completed and Virus Eraser was never installed (meaning they did not lose a product key). She said because of this, they would issue a full refund. I called back on June 24 because I had still not received my refund. They said it was processed on the 23rd. I called again on July 1 and they said it was processed on the 24th and that I should get it by the next week. They said they would reprocess the refund as the bank seemed to not have received it. They are now answering and hanging up immediately without saying anything every time I try to call to resolve this issue from multiple phone numbers. As they agreed to the FULL refund several times, I am requesting a FULL refund of $1,007.50 and confirmation the contract was voided. Each time I asked for a confirmation number, I received an excuse that that individual was not the person processing the refund but that I would receive an email in 2-5 days (varied by phone call). Since they refused to give me the confirmation number and the refund, I will be disputing it with the bank unless this is resolved immediately. If I do not receive a response, I will proceed with the dispute without a reference number. I have three separate order numbers for some reason, two from the emailed receipt which are [redacted] and [redacted] and another from a receipt typed out by the technician which is [redacted] (which I used each time I called Virus Eraser). Please help me resolve this. Thank you.Desired Settlement: As they agreed to the FULL refund several times, I am requesting a FULL refund of $1,007.50 and confirmation the contract was voided. This will not be resolved until the refund is received in my account.

Review: On Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at around 6am, my computer screen suddenly went black with a dialogue printed on my the front of my computer that my computer had a virus or had been hacked and I should call [redacted] immediately to get help to protect my information and to restore my computer. I tried to shut off my computer and restart and it would not allow me to do anything. I ended up calling the phone number and was on the phone for over 3 hours trying to fix the issue. They told me that I had to pay $300 to just get the virus off and then another $300 to restore my computer. I did so, and ended up authorizing a charge of $600 to my credit card for a program, Virus Eraser, to protect me from further threats. Tech support guy said my current virus protection ([redacted]) was not capable of protecting me from these viruses. I asked how they knew my computer was being hacked into and he said they had been notified by [redacted]. I later checked the Virus Eraser website and learned that I could get that program for $39.99. I believe I am a victim of an internet scam and that these people took and have all my private information. To this day I am still having problems with my computer and when I call the number they gave me, I always get someone to tell me to restart my computer and it will go away. I do and it does but then it comes back as soon as I hang up the phone within 3 minutes.Desired Settlement: I do not know if Virus Eraser is a legitimate business. They are not Revdex.com credited and want a refund of my money and all information they may have of mine destroyed. I have had Norton and never had a problem and never paid that kind of money before.

First and foremost Virus Eraser is an Antivirus Software company which sells to the public, and also resellers and affiliates.. We have nothing to do with your customers compliant .. We have partners that work with us .. (Just like [redacted] has outlets that work with them) Please explain to your customer that we are a product not a tech support center!! we have many partners that work with us..

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: the people that I talked to told me they were techs from the company and would be able to install and erase all viruses. I feel that the tech support has hacked my information and hurting my computer. Review: I was scammed with a pop up on my computer stating that I had a virus on my computer and to call the number listed. I called and paid $240.00 to have my computer analyzed and repaired by one of the VMak reps via remote login on my computer. Since then, I have not had a computer that has functioned properly. Multiple times my computer has crashed, and become infected, when I do not even access anything that would infect it. Each time, I would speak to a [redacted] to repair it. BUT each time my computer would be accidentally wiped of all the data, and PERSONAL ITEMS, such as the pictures of my deceased daughter!!! I was told this would not be able to be brought back and repaired. Today, my call to the customer service for help led me to NOTHING HELPFUL! Overall, it became an argument about whether or not I wanted to have my computer reset and have a tech login to reset it or not! OF COURSE I DO NOT want you to log in and delete anything else personal I have AGAIN! I asked for a refund and he stated, NO there will be NO refund, you have declined our attempt to repair and provide you service. I informed this "supervisor [redacted], I did not want them to get into my computer any longer, I only wanted the password that was blocking me from getting into my computer, not the main home screen login password, this is a PW from the Virus Eraser software they have provided before. I am so disappointed that I was scammed for so long and invested so much money into something that they CLAIM vs. ACTUAL. Please, I just want a refund of some sort since I will be taking my computer to have it repaired as an ADDED COST on top of what I have already paid to this company. I NO LONGER WISH TO DO BUSINESS WITH YOUR COMPANY, I WANT TO DELETE YOUR SOFTWARE FROM MY COMPUTER AND MY PERSONAL PROPERTY!Desired Settlement: Refund of some if not all of my investment in your product that did not fulfill during the duration I paid for!

Review: Was solicited by a pop up on my computer screen and was told that I had a virus and that they were running a scan on my computer telling me I had been infected with a virus. This was un-solicited and was then told that my personal information had been compromised. Was then told that they would have to be allowed to take control of my unit to clean and add virus protection for $600.00. This was not the bad part, after their virus protection was installed, I was contacted again and was told that I would have to purchase another product to take care of something their virus software could not handle. This is unscrupulous at best and seems that once the protection was purchased it would do as advertised and protect me from future infections.Desired Settlement: Took computer to a local professional and found that the virus that was found just so happens to have been installed the day that I was contacted by this company. Please release me from any further contact with this company and the contract that you sent is voided.

Virus Eraser is an Antivirus Software company that sells Virus Eraser for windows and the mac, This behavior.. Has nothing to do with Virus Eraser Antivirus Software! This is crazy to have this customer create such a complaint against our company.. Virus Eraser has many resellers that sell our software for windows and the mac with tech support.. We do not ever practice in what this customer says! Our website is at [redacted] we have many affiliate partners. At no point are we responsible for the actions that have been stated. This customer signed a document and agreed to have his/her computer fixed via a remote process .. How he came to one of our partners is not related to our company.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because:Affiliate partners in promoting your product by using a bait and switch tactic to sell your product should be a concern to you. If you notice on the contract that he supposedly signed, the name of the broker is not listed, only "Virus Eraser" is listed. In the contract it list's [redacted]" as the affiliate company as well as the consumer in the contract. This in my estimation is an effort to hide their identity or to make virus eraser solely responsible.Regardless, the contract should be null and void as it does not state all parties clearly and their roles in the contract. The consumer is the only name listed other than "Virus Eraser". If it is an affiliate that is selling your product, they should be listed as well. Please see attached copy.

Review: While checking my e-mail on Feb.22,2016, a drop down alert appeared on my computer screen that warned of a virus; furthermore warning do not disconnect your computer to clear the screen or entire computer data will crash. An 800 # appeared to call to solve the problem.

That # was listed as [redacted]. They represented themselves as services for IMAC computers. A virus erase could be installed at various prices. They are very convincing and will get into your computer . I pulled the computer plug when I realized this is a scam. I cancelled my charge card with [redacted] and reported this as fraud. The banks do not acknowledge scamming as fraud from their point of view. I contacted Virus Erase and was informed by e-mail there would be a refund of $249.99. Have not seen it to date. [redacted] is trying to retrieve the $ that they should never have paid.

This cyber criminal activity must be stopped.Desired Settlement: [redacted] Bank Credit Card should be adjusted to ZERO. This was the only charge made on the credit card.

I reported the criminal activity within 10 minutes of its onset from Virus Eraser. Hopefully, [redacted] dispute department will obtain a refund from Virus Eraser.

[redacted] at Virus Eraser promised to refund the charge card at [redacted].

Response:

Hi,This is in reference to the complaint filed by [redacted].It could be possible that the customer called for some computer related issue and reached our reseller and after her consent the payment of $249.99 was charegd. All the proper guidelines were followed before processing the payment and without customer's permission or authorization no charges can be processed. In case customer was not happy and was looking for a refund, she would have called the same number and might have asked for refund and it would have been done from our end. The delay in refund might be caused because the bank was contacted first, the money goes on hold and then we do not have any authorization to refund the same. Although as per our records we have processed the refund of the complete $249.99 from our end and it should have been there in her account with 5-7 business days. Kindly contact your bank once to see if it appears in your account, just in case there is a problem you can get back to us and we will be glad to help in resolving the query. Review: On April 21,2016 my computer flashed with a big blue screen informing me that my computer has a virus and to call the 800 number for Virus Eraser. I called and they helped me clean the virus and sold me an expensive security plan. The total came to $807.50. I called them the next week to inform them that I don't need the security plan and they promised to refund me within 10 days. I waited 10 days and I kept calling and I got one excuse after another. First it was a technical difficulty, then apparently I was told it wasn't virus eraser who helped me it was a partner company called [redacted].

I am rejecting this response because: I have not received any refund. It is now June 10 of they have me a refund on the third I would have received it already. I keep getting phone calls about my refund. They tell me that I have to go to my computer and download a new program in order to get my refund. I won't download anything from them. When I asked for a physical check they told me I have to buy a $200 iTunes card from [redacted]. I told them in going to contact you again.

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: I contacted my bank on 6/20/16, they have no record or any pending transactions of the 6/02/16 refund from virus eraser. I still have not received the refund.

Review: Virus Eraser locked up my computer and had me call them so they could enter my computer remotely to shut off the beeping and warning. They told me their location was Baltimore FL. The man I spoke with did not speak English well and was I believe calling from India.

My huge concern is this company being able to hack into my computer, freeze it and then make me avail myself to them to get my computer working again while they tried to sell me their security program.

THIS IS A HUGE SECURITY CONCERN ON MY PART SINCE MY COMPUTER HAS BANKING INFORMATION ETC FROM OUR BUSINESS ON IT.Desired Settlement: THIS COMPANY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO HACK INTO COMPUTERS, PUT THAT THE WARNING WAS COMING FROM THE PHONE COMPANY WE USE, [redacted]. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THAT COMPANY. I AM VERY UPSET ABOUT THIS. THE ONLY WAY I WAS ABLE TO GET MY COMPUTER TO STOP BEEPING AND WORKING WAS TO SHUT IF OFF AND TURN IT ON SEVERAL TIMES WHILE HAVING SOMEONE TELL ME THAT I COULD HAVE A VIRUS AND THEY NEED TO FIX IT.

Review: This company has fraudulently charged my credit card the sum of $407.00 for

Hi,This is in reference to the complaint #[redacted].First of all, we would like to say that Virus Eraser do not put/place any unsoliciated virus on customers computer, it could be possible that the customer reached our one of resellers and as an option Virus Eraser Antivirus Software was offered to the customer and after proper confirmation the order was placed. All the proper guidelines were followed before processing the payment and without customer's permission or authorization no charges can be processed. As we can see that customer is looking for a refund of her money per the desired settlement. We have proceeded with the same and refunded the money, the amount would reflect within 5-7 business days. We hope this resolves the concern and we would like to thank the customer for trying Virus Eraser.Thank you.Regards,Team Virus Eraser

Essentially a pop-up on my computer insisted I call a toll free number to protect my computer. I couldn't get the pop-up to go away. When I called I was told the company was Elision LLC and the website was elisionllc.com. They didn't answer my questions about why I needed to purchase their product, what the break-down of the $215 charge was, and said that my antivirus was insufficient to protect my computer. After agreeing to the purchase I tried to look them up. I called back and asked the name of the company. This time they said Virus Eraser. After looking up the cost of the antivirus they installed I found it was only $40. I am waiting for a refund from Virus Eraser. I had to call twice and argue strongly about the refund. Hopefully it will be settled in 5-6 business days. They basically make it seem urgent that you spend $215 when their popup was unsollicited. The product they provide is much cheaper elsewhere. Tricksters.

Review: In March, my 84-year-old mother received an unsolicited call from virus-eraser in which they fraudulently claimed to have detected a virus on her computer. They proceeded to sell her enough virus protection for 4 computers for several years. The total cost of this protection was $2010.00, exceeding the cost of a brand-new computer.

She has neither run the virus protection nor taken advantage of the alleged "support".

Although I discovered this charge after the 30-day return policy, on May 13 I contacted the company seeking a refund on behalf of my mother. I was assured that they would issue a refund, and that I would hear from the billing department within 5–7 days. There has been no response.

Given the unsolicited call, the obvious lack of tech-savvy on the part of my mother, and her age, I believe this constitutes elder abuse/exploitation.

I have filed a dispute with her credit card company. It is pending.Desired Settlement: I seek a full refund of all money, as well as no further contact from this company.

The money is no longer available with Virus Eraser/Reseller anymore, if the dispute was not filed we would have been able to close the concern in case customer was not ready to continue with the services; we will have to wait for any update from bank's end to proceed further in resolving the issue.Thank you.Regards,Team Virus Eraser

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: I wish to keep the case open until the credit card company has settled on the dispute. I wish to clarify that virus-eraser (or one of its affiliates) made unsolicited contact with my mother. She did not reach out to anyone regarding a computer virus.

I am rejecting this response because: no response can be made while credit card dispute is in progress. will keep everyone posted.

Review: Flash came across our monitor screen claiming to be our internet provider ([redacted]). It stated we had a virus and to call immediately to fix. We thought we were calling our internet provider,as they claimed they were an affiliate of [redacted]. We had them fix it to the tune of $245.50. Afterwards we didn't feel right about the charge and called them back. They insisted we had to pay an additional charge of $129.99 to reverse the charge of $245.50! We also called [redacted] who said they had no idea who Virus Eraser was. We did eventually get our $129.99 reversed on our credit card and were promised a refund of $245.50. We have yet to get that refund. This all began on March 31,2016 They stated on April 18th that it would be 5-7 business days for that refund to occur In our e/mail and phone calls to them they just keep promising the money will be refunded. As of May 18th 2016 no refund of $245.50 to our debit card. They have given false advertising and blatantly have lied about getting our money back. We feel we have been totally robbed of our money! We want our money refunded, not empty promises.Desired Settlement: We want our total refund back in the amount of $245.50 as they claimed they would do.

I am rejecting this response because: We have not had our money of $245.50 refunded to us. They refunded $129.99 to our credit card, and they claimed we had to pay this amount first before they would refund the $245.50. Our Credit Union stated there has been no refunding of $245.50 from Virus Eraser!

Response:

Hi,We tried to locate the order for $245.50 at our end but unfortunately we are unable to see any records of this payment. If we have refunded the $129.99 that you paid to us; there is no problem in going ahead and refunding $245.50, but as mentioned above we are unable to find any details.Request you to please provide us with a payment receipt or any other document available at your end and we will proceed further in refunding the money.Thank you.Regards,Team Virus Eraser
