This is also a customer service complaint. This company installed a sub-pump in my basement. Soon after completion problems arose; leaks formed in the basement floor after heavy rainfalls and the area designated to drain the water just left water sitting stagnant in the backyard as well as the draining pipes. Work was done to reroute the drainage to an area in the front yard. However, it wasn't until a homemade trench was made that the water properly drained. After an initial check the contractor told me it was probably a burst pipe causing all the leaks and asked I have a plumber look at it. The plumber saw the videos of the leaks during rainfall and advised it wasn't a leaking pipe. Multiple times appointments were scheduled to resolve the issue and no one showed up to handle it. Excuses in the beginning were given but recently they began just telling us they'd call back.

We are sorry that these issues have happened to you. Today is July 10, 2019 and in response to this issue we received from the Revdex.com, we have already scheduled a re-visit appointment for tomorrow the 11th. Any and all warranty work will be taken care of by us. Again we are sorry that you were not 100% satisfied with us when we did our work initially and we appreciate the opportunity to make it right.

Had basement waterproofed. Juan and Eric and Chan did a great job! Work was very professional and clean. Looking forward to not having water in my basement anymore!

Yes, a dry basement is going to be great to have. Thanks for telling us about the crew and how well they cleaned up when they were finished.

Signed a contract we did not cancel within 3 days
told us we needed 11 piers to permanently stabalize the foundation
They suggested we contact a concrete company to finish the front porch since they could not do it.
Concrete man said the foundation showed no signs of structural damage and suggested construction engineer
Engineer could not justify 11 piers
Contacted Woods with this information and they would not return the deposit even when they did not tell the truth about the structural damage to the house.

When is comes to foundation repair, we take careful numbers with a laser transit to verify what the problem is as explained to us by the homeowner. In this case, we could see the problem in the interior drywall and that the front door was not closing properly. We understand that someone may want to help and have a temporary repair that may last for a few years and save a homeowner some money now. Our customers expect us to warranty our work and for our work to last so that when and if they sell their home the warranty will transfer. Engineers may say that other work should be done first, prior to foundation repair, but we were called to determine a plan on the work that we do, stabilize and secure foundations. If we did not think that this foundation repair was necessary or that we were unclear on the proper course of action we would have advised that a structural engineer report be acquired. We are willing to go over with this customer an engineer report that may dispute our findings for the work we proposed. That may lead to a partial deposit refund. However, all engineers report we read have a disclaimer about their report and finding on any inspection that basically says that conditions may change and therefore previous inspection numbers and their findings may change. The soil conditions do vary from time to time and change often over the years so we tend to agree with their disclaimer. Typically, the problem gets worse but may at times show signs of improvement, although temporary over time. We hope that this explanation was helpful to resolve this issue and understand that their deposit is not forfeit, it is help on their account for any future work with our company.

When the crew and foreman arrived we walked the area and outside where the install was going to happen. Jaun the foreman answered all my questions and his helper Sean started to get things out of the truck and begin. They were to have 3 men on the crew, but it was only the 2. They worked none stop, and were extremely clean with Covering all my furniture and items with plastic before begin. They were not able to finish as they were short handed, so we made arrangements to complete the job the next day. as I viewed the job it was very very clean and Jaun explained everything to me that they had done. they cleaned up extremely well and also help me reconnect and move my washer and dryer so I was able to do my laundry. I would definitely refer Woods Basement to any of my friends that had basement problems.

Thanks for telling us about our crew and how clean and helpful they were. Thank you for your business.

I called them and and told them I have a broken corner on my concrete block wall that needs to be repaired and asked them if they do that kind of work. They said yes and sent a guy out. The guy started to talk about issues which had nothing do with repairing my wall. I stopped him, told him I wasn't interested in his issues, and specifically wanted his company to repair my broken wall. He told me they don't do that kind of work and charged me $95.

Thank you for this nice review. We appreciate your business and will tell the team about your review.

I just had the first phase of a basement remodel. The first team was responsible for installing the perimeter drainage system and sump pumps. The three man team arrived on time as scheduled each day and had the complete perimeter drainage system installed in one and a half days. As expected, the installation was messy but the team did an excellent job of clean up both inside and outside and they were careful to cover and protect the upstairs floors and items of furniture in the basement. Juan, the team supervisor was very professional and explained everything before any work was done. He kept me informed by phone during the day and let me know when they would be leaving and returning. The team did an excellent job of refinishing the concrete floor once the drain was installed. The team was very professional and efficient. I am looking forward to a dry basement for years to come.

Wonderful news and thanks for sharing it with us. We will tell the whole team about it.

Juan was very helpful. he explained every detail and went above and beyond to help us.

Just had some sump pump/downspout things done. Not only did Juan and his crew show up 30 minutes before the agreed upon time (which was good because I had to go to work), but they gave me an estimated time for finishing. They finished right around that time. I was very satisfied with their diligence, and especially Juan's knowledge of the system. Great job!

Thank you for telling us about your great experience with our company. We will pass your kind words along to the crew and team.

I was having issues opening my front door so I called this business and they came out on March 27, 2019. He wanted to fix the issue by putting push piers outside the door and in the basement. I was quoted a price of $6800 for the job and he wanted 30% down in the amount of $2,079. I paid this amount by credit card and made an appointment for the crew to come out on April 26, 2019. A day or so after he left I called my insurance to see if it would be covered. I was told that if it was settlement no it was not covered but if was mine subsidence due to a mine (which our home sits on) it would be covered. My insurance contacted the Illinois Mine Subsidence Agency and they came to inspect. They want to monitor it for a year but want no work to be done to correct it yet. I called Woods to see about getting my deposit back and they refuse to give it back due to a 3 day reconsideration clause.

We believe you made a very good choice in hiring us for your home improvement project. Even though our company policy is no refunds of deposits after 3 days, it is held on your account for the up coming work whenever you decide to move forward with the project.

Additionally, accounting will hold the price on the contract for 18 months, so if there were any price increases during that time you would not have an increase. That 18 months is from the date on the contract.

If it is determined that the problem is from mine subsidence and the insurance pays for the work in a year, you have locked in the contract amount and have saved paying out of pocket that balance that would be due after completing our work repairing your home's foundation. Tell us why here...

This was a very big project, but from the salesman, Sam, to the techs Juan Hernandez and John Cunningham, it was wonderful. They were all professional and efficient and so very informative and gracious as guests in my home. I am extremely happy with the new basement windows and waterproof crawl space! They have all been tested with a very rainy few weeks and the result is DRY DRY DRY after years of water in my basement. Thanks, Woods Basement! I picked you based on your Revdex.com rating/reviews and I was not disappointed!

Woods came out to "fix" our basement that was leaking back in the beginning of February. Things seemed to be fine until March 30th when the basement began leaking again. They sent out a service person on April 3rd to look at the spot of the leak. It turns out that there is a leak from another section of the basement, right next to the initial repair. Their job the first time was to identify the spot of the leak and repair it. They clearly didn't identify the appropriate location and we absolutely should not be paying for them to come fix what should have been fixed in February.

Woods Basement Systems Response • Apr 24, 2019

The work we did was only on one of four basement walls and of course we would fix any leak as covered by the warranty in the area where we did our work. However, without a four wall complete basement waterproofing systems, any other leak outside of the scope of our original work would not be included in the warranty. Our management team will work with you on resolving your concerns, thank you. Tell us why here...

From my experience, Woods Basement Systems is all about the money and provides incompetent service. I had to cancel a radon mitigation system install due to a significant life changing circumstance. Woods had not begun the work, but said the $1,100 deposit was non-refundable because I had signed the contract. They didn't care that it was now necessary for me to sell the house, they wanted that money. So I said that I would then spend that money on a filtration system for the furnace, which they agreed to do. Five weeks ago a service rep came out with the wrong size filter because the sales rep didn't measure the opening, he merely wrote down dimensions that were written in magic marker on the side of the duct work. They have their money, so there is urgency to provide any service to me.

I had a very troublesome crack in my basement wall which caused much difficulty and resulted in damage to my basement contents. Juan and his two crew members came and did excellent work to solve my problem with exactly the plan that had been made with my first contact Adam. My wife and I are completely happy and satisfied with not only the work of three men who did the actual work, but also the entire experience with Woods Basement Systems from beginning to completion of the job. Each step of the way, the Woods people approached my job in a professional, thorough, and courteous manner. We couldn't be more pleased.Thank you Juan and your crew, Adam, and all of the office people who worked with us.

Thank you for sharing this with us and we will tell Juan and his crew about your very kind remarks.

My crawl space encapsulation job was flawless. Jesse and his crew did a great job. I was kept informed of the process and each step was explained to me. They cleaned up at the end of each day and wanted to make sure that I had no unanswered questions.

We are so happy to hear from you about our team and we will tell them about how much you liked them!

We had Juan and The Crew out to do our basement waterproofing. The were on time, very cordial, professional and especially hard working. The quality of there work was exceptional. They completed over 260 linear feet of interior waterproofing, two sump pumps, a lateral, and about 50 feet of buried PVC drain outside in 2 1/2 days. Amazing! Thanks to The Crew! One minor suggestion - when covering basement items for dust protection cover the items with plastic in addition to or instead of hanging plastic from joists. A little dust sneaks in over the top but a very minor suggestion. All else was great.

Thanks for telling us about our hard working team and how well you liked them. We will pass this along to them and the rest of the team.

Contactor was to install seven piers. Pictures shown to me after the installation showed only six piers. Halfway through the installation the installer said his boss said I owe an additional $ 4116.00 but no explanation given. Would not leave unless I paid. Original price quoted and paid $ 6296.88. When I contacted *** about the additional cost, he sent me a log from the installer, which was not what I was told and shown when the piers were installed. In addition , my outside lighting, stairs, and patio were left in ruins. After I left a poor review Customer service rep Jeremy contacted me. He was to schedule a post site inspection. Never happened.

Woods Basement Systems Response • Apr 01, 2019

Thank you for speaking with us about coming back out to reopen each pier to show you all seven were installed. Since they all will be exposed again we will reset our hydraulic push ram and pressure them all again and record that for your records. It is also my understanding that the management team has agreed to return some of your money too. If you need anything else we are here to stand behind our warranty for your home.

Thank you for sharing about how well *** helped you!

They did an excellent job on our sump pump system and really went above and beyond with installation to ensure we didn’t have to have part of our patio repoured. The team was courteous and cleaned up everything. Would absolutely recommend them and use them again.
