Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

Zocdoc claimed they would do something to improve my results.  The person who I need to talk to and who supposedly can do something to change my results is somehow always unavailable when I attempt to contact him to discuss things.  One time, the answer was he will be out for the weekend.  The second time was he needed to reach back to me tomorrow.  If a client is upset and they know they need to get back to the client right away, is this the right way to respond?  Is this a legitimate business or are the employees just running around and picking up the phone when they have 5 minutes of their spare time?  Regardless, it is either a horrible coincidence or they just do not have a real answer to improve results so I am being pushed around without any real answer.  This is what they mean by they have already attempted to resolve this with me.  So I am not happy with the business response.
Please add to my reply...

I had forgotten to clarify that I did not a get a resolution to my primary complaint which was to get a refund and why I am not satisfied with their reply.  I have an e-mail where they said they acknowledge to a refund my monies if I do not get results after three months.  They subsequently replied to my request for a refund that they cannot refund my money because we have a one year agreement and it is non-refundable; but I did not actually sign an agreement with Zocdoc (either physically or electronically). They simply sent me a copy of an agreement AFTER I paid for the services.

Review: Hi

We continue to receive calls from Zocdoc although I asked multiple times to remove us from their call list. Here is an email I just sent to them:

ZocDoc,

We continue to receive harassing phone calls and very questionable techniques in trying to communicate with our doctors.

The individuals calling do not clearly identify themselves from Zocdoc but are representing themselves as employees from other doctors. For example, I just received a call from [redacted] and he said he works with [redacted]. When I queried him more he then said he works for ZocDoc. This is an extremely very shady tactic of ZocDoc representatives.

I've asked multiple times to remove us from your call list however we continue to receive harassing phone calls from your company. We do not want to do business with Zocdoc. Please remove us from future calls!

Thank you, [redacted] ###-###-#### [redacted]Desired Settlement: To remove us from future calls. Also, Zocdoc should clearly identify themselves as representatives from Zocdoc and not from other referral sources.

Review: ZocDoc has been persistently contacting our office. At this point it is harassment. We have told many representatives that we are not interested in doing business with them and have asked them to take us off their calling list and yet they continue to call. Since we have been telling them that, ZocDoc has changed up their tactics in trying to speak with us about their business. They now call stating they are an employee from the doctors office and need to speak with a doctor here urgently. We try and question them about what it is regarding and they continue to say its urgent they speak with a doctor. We have put our doctor on while she was in the middle of seeing patients and that is when they say its ZocDoc soliciting business. We have told them repeatedly after this call that what they are doing is sneaky and we have interrupted our doctor during business hours to take their call. ZocDoc is notorious for their harassment tactics.Desired Settlement: Stop calling our office, harassing our staff and our doctors.

Review: To briefly summarize, Zoc Doc made certain claims about their service that they could not keep. I have called them to discuss this several times in the past 9 months, however, Zoc Doc has essentially told me that its too bad and they will not offer even a partial refund or any type of compensation for their failure to deliver on their promises. Please note: I have been on Zoc Doc for 9 months and have not had even A SINGLE patient book an appointment through them.

The entire story starts when I first opened my [redacted] practice from scratch this past summer (summer of 2014). I was called for several months before I even opened my doors, being harassed by one of Zoc Doc's representatives. He essentially called every few weeks for approximately 3 months telling me how they have done "research" into my geographic area, and they have "data" that shows there is a real demand in my area for an [redacted] on Zoc Doc. He told me that on a conservative estimate I would get 3-5 new patients per month calling to schedule an initial consultation. Initally, because I was a start from scratch office, I did not want to jump into an expensive contract due to cash flow issues. However, after a month or so of slow growth, I thought hey, even if 1-2 patients book a new exam, the potential ROI would be worth the cost. I signed up in August 2014 and now fast forward to today (April 2015) and I have not had even ONE patient book an appointment through Zoc Doc. I have called them several times to see what can be done, but each time I am speaking with a different person. Finally I got fed up and called 2 weeks ago to ask for a refund, and they said they will look into it and get back to me. I have called twice since and e-mailed and still have heard nothing.Desired Settlement: A full refund or something comparable

Review: After countless demands for Zocdoc to stop calling our office to sell their service, Zocdoc began calling the doctor's emergency number which is reserved for patients to report clear treatment emergencies, to continue rendering their high pressure sales pitch. As Zocdoc has not heeded any of our numerous verbal requests, we feel compelled to file a complaint.Desired Settlement: Please publicly document and contact Zocdoc to pressure them to change their sales practices. I can only imagine how many of my colleagues they are also harassing.

Review: I was mislead by the website into believing a [redacted] was in-network with my insurance. After three weeks of procedure, I am now being asked to pay $330 bill for visiting an OUT of network with. I believe Zocdoc should be responsible for this. The false information/advertisement on the website helped its client to get more business but harm the health and financial status of patients.Desired Settlement: Zocdoc should be responsible to pay for the $330 bill provided false advertisement which resulted in my loss.

Review: Misleading, intrusive, and incorrigible practices by salesmen at ZocDoc, who have been calling my personal, non-published phone every 3-4 months despite my several refusals to have any affiliation with them and demands to stop contacting me. Once you hang up on them, they are guarantee to call you back. These practices are clearly unethical, unfair, unjust, and, in some circumstances, might be illegal.Desired Settlement: Whilst I don't expect ZocDoc to voluntary stop its predatory practices, I'd suggest, not by the way of the double entendre, that something has to be done to stop them from praying on doctors and interfering with patient care.

Review: I was informed by a sales person that no charge would be made and that I would have a week or so before my first billing of June *. I cancelled on May ** and now they have processed a $3000.00 charge without my approval. I want this reversed and a guarantee that ZocDoc will have no right to access my financial accounts, bank, credit card.

This has compromised my finances on my new business and has caused me to experience heart palpitations or premature beats due to stress. I have seen my own doctor who referred me to a cardiologist and this information is clearly listed in my medical records. ZocDoc is the main reason for this health issue.Desired Settlement: Reverse illegal credit card charge and have no legal access to any aspect of my life, finances, professional business.

Review: ZocDoc has been harassing me for a $3000 fee that they claim I owe them, for a year’s worth of service on their site. This is service which I have not received, and do not wish to receive. I run a dental practice in Baltimore, and I began talks with them thinking that I did want to use their service. During the initial sales pitch, the salesperson took my credit card number, saying that it would not be charged, and that it was necessary to “hold my place” so that would could proceed. After this initial sales pitch, the salesperson set up an account for me, including entering that credit card into the billing info, and sent a link so that we could fill in more information such as my education and what dental insurances I accept. Because I was busy with other dental practice matters, my husband logged in and filled out that information. I told ZocDoc that we were about to go on vacation, not to activate the account, and we would finalize things when I returned. While I was on vacation and my dental office was closed, they activated the account without my permission. During this time I decided that I did not wish to do business with them, after having read online about their many unethical practices and broken promises to other doctors. They claim that by logging in to fill out the profile, that I had agreed to pay them $3000 for one year of service, because it was buried in their 14 page long Terms of Service for the site. I did not sign any agreement, and it was my husband who filled out the profile information on my behalf, not myself. I did not authorize him to make any such agreement, and he did not think he was doing so. He was merely filling out the details of the profile. Thankfully, they were not able to bill my card, but now they are harassing me for the money. Now they have shut down the account that they should not have activated, and are harassing me by phone and email, claiming that I cannot back out of this agreement (which I never actually agreed to), and that I owe them $3000. To be clear, this is not for services rendered, the money was supposed to be an upfront fee paid ahead of time for a year’s worth of service. I do not wish to receive that service, and want nothing to do with ZocDoc any more.Desired Settlement: I wish for ZocDoc to stop claiming I owe them $3000, and to stop harassing me.

Review: I was signed up with Zocdoc based on the information the rep [redacted] had given to me verbally and in an email of what my practice should see in terms of patients from their site and after 5 months this is not the case. I had contacted them after the 2nd month and was told to wait, 3rd month told to wait it takes time and after 5th month now I am being told there is not guarantees of anything. I have an email stating from the rep what I should be seeing of patient coming from their site. At this point I am told that it is really a search engine optimization company and all they really do it is offer different Pt,MD, DDS names and they cannot say if your going to get patients but they feel most will. I again reached out to them and told them this is not what I was told, I was told PT was an in demand and I would be making back twice my investment in the first year alone.Desired Settlement: I feel they misrepresented themselves. I have a hard time getting them to return my calls/emails and when they do they keep saying we did not say any such thing. I even sent them back a copy of email the rep sent me and they tell me it means nothing. I want my money back.

Sincerely,

This company Is AWFUL!!!!!!!! Daily harassing phone calls from salesmen, rude and arrogant on the phone. The physician I work for told them she MAY be interested but would get back with them, that was all it took, they called everyday after that with threats that we had confirmed the monthly service for $300.00 per month and we had not. We eventually had to start hanging up on them to make the calls stop, this went on everyday for three weeks, they are total scam artists working off of commission for sales calls.

Review: In December 2014 we began working with ZocDoc. They had contacted us in November to begin service. They promised to bring in new patients to our office, which ultimately, they did. We were very excited to begin working with them because it seemed like such a great opportunity with many positive benefits. However, as a part of our service agreement and a large part of the reason we selected to work with ZocDoc was because they guaranteed us an exclusive contract for the first year. This was an awesome promise as we are a fairly new, but large practice. Not even halfway into our first year and they have already signed up another practice. They talked a great talk, gave us a lot of promises but overall could not follow through. Beyond that, we had multiple problems setting it up, submitting the same requests over and over which no one handled until our practice owner called to speak with a [redacted] and complain. At this point we were the first practice brought on in the state of Alaska so they had sent their [redacted] up here for a photo op, it appears that we are more of a technicality and publicity stunt for them rather than an actual client that they 'strive to provide a great experience' for.

Main Review: When we discovered that there was a breach in our contract we contacted ZocDoc. We figured it had to have been some mistake but hopefully something that could be easily remedied. We contacted ZocDoc and quickly received a response from our account [redacted] saying that they weren't sure what happened but would figure it out and get back to us. A few days passed and we had not heard anything, on Thursday, 05/**/2015, I called them four times attempting to speak with our account [redacted]. After leaving a message I received an email back from him saying he was out of the office; the email stated the following "The Sales rep, not [redacted], who brought on the new practice actually has ties to the doctor [redacted], and this is why he was allowed to bring on the new provider. [redacted] explained our agreement to this colleague and unfortunately he still brought him on. Obviously, this is unacceptable and we take full blame for this mis-communication. As a sign of good faith, when it comes time for renewal we will be able to knock of $500 of the total subscription price." Honestly, that's a joke. We paid for three doctors, a total of $9000 for the year to get this up and running, not to mention all of the time spent by our employees to edit and update it, time is more valuable to us than the money itself. The best thing they could offer us for a complete breach of contract was $500 off a renewal cost? We will not be renewing our contracting with ZocDoc; we still have not heard from our account [redacted], and they will not remove the additional dentist from the site. We will be taking whatever action may be necessary to resolve this issue. It is absolutely unacceptable to knowingly breach contract and even worse to offer such a laughable solution. ZocDoc may have a great idea and concept but there is something wrong with their business plan if they believe that these are suitable practices. We are more than disappointed and frustrated with ZocDoc. It's hard enough to grow a business but even more difficult when you have to do so with a deceitful company that blatantly ignores their clients’ contracts and concerns.Desired Settlement: We are asking that ZocDoc removes the other dentist from the [redacted] database until our one year mark, thus fulfilling their end of our contract.

Response:

Dear Revdex.com,At ZocDoc, we always strive to provide our patients and doctors with an exceptional experience. We are taking this case very seriously and since it has been brought to ourattention, a member of the ZocDoc team has followed up personally with the [redacted] team. We want to give you an update that a call has been scheduled with the practice for Monday June [redacted] to resolve this case. All the best,Team ZocDoc

Review: We were contacted by a ZocDoc sales rep by phone last year. They were trying to expand their services out west and said our office was a great candidate. They said that for $3,000 we could essentially have our name at the top of the dentist search list and that the average office would see approximately 3 to 5 new patients PER MONTH that would be referred by and through ZocDoc. We were basically hounded by smooth salesman for several weeks. Once the papers were signed, we never heard from our newfound salesman 'friends' ever again. I asked the sales team on several occasions what they planned to do to advertise and promote their website to drive traffic and they assured us over and over that they had big plans to expand and grow their product and that their image and brand was on the line; that we would benefit from being the first practice in Montana.

Needless to say, it's been a year now and they'd like us to renew for another $3,000. Would you like to know how many patients we saw that were referred by and through ZocDoc? ZERO. NONE. NIL.

They took FULL advantage of a struggling new practice that could barely make ends meet, knowing full well we had to scrape money together and once that money was in their account, they were gone.Desired Settlement: We'd like a refund. We are also in the customer service business and would never dream of taking advantage of a patient this way.

I have been a Zocdoc customer for over 5yrs and it seems the Company in the recent past has completely gone to the dogs. This particular account manager, Austen L[redacted] is one of the most noncooperative salesman I've ever come across. Our practice was flagged because a patient did not get to see a particular dentist that they booked an appointment with but were treated by another dentist. Note that the patient was totally satisfied with the treatment provided. However, Austen from ZocDoc is "threatening" to lock our account if we don't add another profile (sleazy salesmanship!!!). There are several other dentists/doctors who have multiple providers under 1 profile but seems like we are being singled out...probably because we have already signed and paid for a 3-yr contract and there's no more money that ZocDoc can make off us in the near term.

More importantly, I went back to ZocDoc to add a profile for the other provider and ZocDoc's new contention is that it'll be the price of a brand new profile!!! While I signed the 3-yr contract, I was promised that any additional profiles will be at half of the cost of a new profile and now there's no mention of this and Austen continues to be as negligent and unhelpful to a loyal customer.

Review: We signed up with ZocDoc about a year or so and their services were iffy at best. We are a primary care office and more then half of the pts that booked and blocked their appointments on their website never showed up for their appointments which obviously cost us money because we had time slots blocked yet no pts. We are not complaining because of that, although that did waste our revenue stream. We are writing this because this company is performing absolutely unethical acts. The Doctor went on maternity leave 2 months prior to end of contract and we blocked off her schedule for those times so zocdoc wouldn't have those availabilities as well, called up our account rep to let them know what was going on and yet they wish to charge the full amount and not refund for the 2 months OR if we decide to renew our contract, they are willing to take off one months subscription, not 2 months. They are essentially trying to strong arm us by forcing us to join for another year to get partial payment or absolutely nothing if we decide to leave which is absolutely unethical and unprofessional.Desired Settlement: We would like to attain full adjustment for 2 months OR credit for 2 months should the Doctor choose to renew her subscription.

Review: My problem is similar to the complaint filed on his site on July 2014. I spoke with my [redacted], [redacted], on Sept 2014 to NOT to renew services. Then about 2 weeks later, [redacted] called the office asking to continue services. [redacted] was very rude and unprofessional over the phone. [redacted] also told me that my account was still active for another 2 weeks and he would call the office to discuss whether or not to continue on a monthly basis. [redacted] never called and there was a $300 charge to my credit card on October 2014. I called ZocDoc and told them what had happened. Then a new [redacted], [redacted], contacted the office. [redacted] canceled my account. However, [redacted] stated that no refund could be issued because [redacted] wrote in the memo that I verbally authorized the charge which is definately FALSE. The next day, my assistance informed [redacted] that we intend to file a complaint. [redacted] asked us to hold filing the complaint to give him time to work things out. It has been several business days already and [redacted] never returned our calls.Desired Settlement: Refund my $300. ZocDoc charged my card without authorization.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted]. They refunded the disputed amount and is satisfactory. But the statement they made to Revdex.com that they contacted me personally is a LIE. Neither my staff or I spoke with anyone at zocdoc after the complaint was filed. This shows that zocdoc is unreputable and repeatedly lies. This company should be investigated by the attorney general's office and reprimanded.
