Hi ***,
Thank you for reaching outWe understand your frustration, and we’re so sorry about your experienceSitters on Rover and owners who book their services must be transparent about the level of care expected and communicate any discrepanciesAfter reviewing this entire incident, we
won’t be honoring a refund as your sitter provided premium care to the best of her knowledge and your specificationsI understand that this is not the outcome you expectedPlease feel free to reach out with any further questions or concerns
We wish you all the best,
Courtney

I paid a dog sitter $to care for my two dogs for five daysThe agreement was that she would walk the dogs daily, the dogs were not to be taken out of their environment, the allergic rash on one of my dogs was to be sprayed daily, and a regular routine would be followed (when treats were given, bedtime routine, etc.)
Upon my return I found that my dog’s rash was worse than ever and the spray was not even touchedI heard from my neighbors that my dogs were never seen on walks other than one timeI was sent one photo of my dogs on a walkWhen my dogs are taken on regular walks, they routinely relieve themselves, and when I came home none of my disposal bags were used so I don’t believe they were routinely walked as promised I specifically hired an in-home dog sitter so that my one dog, who has very bad arthritis, could be exercised and it’s very disappointing to know that she was not
After my one star review (which was NOT posted until I followed up with additional

We were visiting California and had out two dogs with us and needed someone to watch them I did a lot or research on Rover.com including Revdex.com, but also the personal reviews on each individual (highly recommend) we found one a wonderful person to watch our pets and I could not be happier I was skeptical at 1st but after using this service I would highly recommend Just do your homework way ahead of your stay and check several in the area and thru communication you will know with you own instinct this will be the right person for you! I know was in our case and will be happy to use again and happy to recommend this service

I left my three pets (two dogs, one cat) with a sitter booked via Rover over July 4th weekend Upon returning home, I found my down comforter soaking wet and emanating a terrible odor (sitter was staying in a guest room, so this was very shocking to me) I reached out to the sitter and was told one of the dogs had an accident on the bed (which she later told me is "very common") and she attempted to wash my down comforter After taking my down comforter to the dry cleaner in an attempt to correct the damage caused from it being wet for several days, the stench was still very present, requiring me to purchase a new down comforter The sitter also placed the down comforter over a railing to air dry when the dryer wasn't working fast enough, causing damage to the wall where the down comforter rested It was at this point I contacted Rover Support After going through the process, Rover determined their "Premium Insurance" would not cover this incident The reasons provided were: 1)

My fiance and I hired a pet sitter through ROVER.COM to stay overnight in our home and to care for our dog, Rue, and our two horses; Big Ben and MustangThe pet sitter lives locally, studies pre-veterinary medicine at UConn, and has star reviews on their websiteThe sense of security of having a person stay in our home for the safety of our home and our animals was a priorityWe were hoping to have a reliable, trustworthy pet sitter that we could use regularly in the futureWe booked the sitter for our two week vacation only after having her to the house, twice, for two tours plus a run down of chores, and booking her for an overnight prior to our two week trip as a trial while my fiance and I stayed at a friend's house
Upon returning home from our two week excursion throughout the Midwest, we were met with urine and feces in every upstairs room of our houseThe odor met us at the door as well as the loud whine of our well pump failingDespite our literal months of correspondence in preparation of a two week vacation, our pet sitter left our dog for extended periods of time (including overnight) and failed to perform even our most basic requests
The indoor plants were wilted and some of them diedThere was no new trash since we left and the barrel was never taken to the curb and our mail was never brought insideThe toilet had grown mold without use, no new dishes were in the strainer or dishwasherIn fact, our dishwasher had never been opened - the lit up word "clean" was still on from when we ran it the night before we leftOur immediate neighbor didn't see a car in the driveway in the mornings and thought Rue was being boarded at the kennel because of the lack of activity at the houseAll fly spray bottles left for the horses were still completely full; our horses weren't sprayed once in the time we were awayThe horse fencing was left open in two places and Mustang kicked out a stud in his stallAlso, our well pump had failed and so our water had to be shut offWere weren't made aware of any damages until we came home
When confronted via text, the sitter confessed to only staying "most nights", complained that she wasn't getting paid enough for the workload and admitted to having unreliable transportationWe find these excuses unacceptableWe left the names and numbers of several people should she need help and she did not take advantage of themShe never once hinted to us that there was an issue while we were awayShe accepted the job with enthusiasm, even after an overnight trial, and then neglected her responsibilities as a pet and house sitter
Given the substantial evidence of neglect plus the confession of not staying in the house multiple nights, we can deduce that she did not provide the service that was promised to usRover and the sitter are unwilling to work with us on a refundRover claims they are only a third party; you can book based on reviews of a sitter and you must pay through them, but they assume no responsibility when a sitter does not do their job/neglects your home and animals
We recommend NEVER booking with ROVER.COMWe are heartbroken for our babies

BEWARE WHEN BOOKING We booked a sitter on Wednesday at to start on Thursday for a vacation for the weekendWithin less than hours of booking, our pup was vomiting and having diarrheaWe contacted John Rwith whom we had JUST made the reservation and he agreed it would be best to cancel and he would put in the refundHowever, we came to find out he only refunded us 1/the amount and claimed it was because he "had turned down other offers" in that short window of timeSeriously? This was NOT a reservation that had been in place for any extended period of timeHOURS!!!!! And he agreed that a sick pup was not a good call to leave with himObviously, not the honest kind of guy who does the right thing but is just trying to get as much as he can out of thisUnfortunate that Rover supports/stands behind this ludicrous behaviorThey basically said they can't help and that it's up to the sitterI would caution you going through Rover at all and definitely DO NOT use JOHN R in FALLS CHURCH

I paid Rover and Rover paid my sitter to watch my dog My dog got sprayed by a skunk while in the care of the Rover sitter The sitter did not inform me he was sprayed while in her care and when I picked him up she did not inform me either I smelled the smell as soon as I got within feet of him I promptly took him to be groomed and it was confirmed he had been sprayed My dog has now incurred several grooming bills because of her negligence I asked her did she smell something and at first she said NO then later said yes she does have them in her yard She was negligence and my dog now smells horrendous and he still does I feel Rover is not taking responsibility for this action I paid Rover not her and I gave her a fresh smelling dog and got a funky smelling one back He is a Akita and big so grooming bills are not cheap and he needs to get additional services I spoke with a supervisor Erin R ID *** and he stated its not Rover's responsibility My dog was dama

Pet parents beware!!!
Absolutely the worst customer service! If you have any troubles or your dog is neglected you'll receive no support and you'd be just as well off if you used***
While under the care of Rover, our dog ingested something she shouldn't have had, and incurred $in vet billsRover's "free premium pet insurance" denied it without taking information from our vetThey claim to offer insurance through a second company but they will deny your claim without forwarding it to the insurance company
This aside, look at Rovers website and you'll see only five-star reviews for all their dog sitters (red flag!)We posted our poor experience on Rover's Facebook page and the comments were deleted

Rover.com is not a safe site to use when boarding your dogI used Rover.com during the Labor Day weekendAnd the "Experience Caregiver" they had on the site decided that she could not care for my dogSo the Customer Service Rep"Hannah" call and stated that I needed to pick my dog upMy family was out of state and I explain that to Hannah and she insisted that I pick up my dogLong story short the "Experience Caregiver" they had on the site kept my dog until I pick him up that MondayThe problem with this situation is that they have no other alternative for your pet if the caregiver decide not to keep themI would recommend that you find a local boarding place in your cityDo not use this site because they do not do background checks on these "Caregivers"

I'm concerned because my dog sitter's profile was removed from the site and I can no longer bookShe is from a different culture and her communication issues caused the company to delete her accountThis is a very important occupation for her and I don't feel that shutting down her profile is an appropriate means of resolving any issuesNone of her clients had any complaints about her so she should be allowed to continue as she was

I hired someone on Rover.com to take care of my dog while I am out of the state for daysThe person I hired cancelled hours prior to me leavingI had scheduled her month in advance and made sure she was in my price range (many other dog sitters are almost double)At the time of booking I had many options and chose her due to her proximity to my house and familiarity for my dog with the neighborhood and price rangeWell, she cancelled while I was working and about to leaveI had to scramble to find someone to watch himThe only people left were double my price rangeAfter spending additional hours trying to find someone, someone agreed but was almost doubleI was on the phone with a Rover customer service rep before accepting and they said I would be credited the difference, never ONCE mentioned a policy of only up to 25%Well, I dropped my dog off and I get an email later in the evening saying I would be only credited $48, while the total price difference was close to $

Recently while my fiancé and I were out of town for training (active-duty ***) we relied on
"Meg" from Rover to watch over our pets
The deal that we PAID for was that she would watch our pets in our home and we even paid her extra to take care of our cat
She called us after only one day of us being gone and informed us that she was allergic to cats and that she could not stay at our house
With us being so far away with limited options and time we agreed that she could take our dog to her house and check on our cat (feed & clean litter box) daily
She only cleaned our cats litter box TWICE in a week and his food and water bowl were empty when we got homeShe was suppose to take *** (our dog) back to our house around close of business, however, she had PLANS WITH FRIENDS and could not complete that taskOnce again something that we PAID for prior to her starting her job
When we went to get our dog he was soaking wet, filthy dirty and stunk!
We contacted emergency customer service where we were ensured the problem would be taken care ofNot only have they not done any of this they have not even been in contact with meI am so scared that this sitter will neglect other animals and will continue to scam customersRover lets her get away with it and in the end the ANIMALS ARE SUFFERING!!!!!!!
MY PETS WERE NEGLECTED!!!!!!!! THIS WILL NOT REST!

I used Rover.com for the first time to find a pet sitter in August I input my zip code and found a list of several dog sitters in my area I contacted a couple of the dog sitters, including the girl I eventually hired She had multiple star reviews so I contacted her on the website and she responded immediately We agreed to meet at my house and I met with her and liked her enough to decide to check her references.; She provided me with references and I called and talked to all three They all highly recommended her She stayed with my dog in August and I came home and knew immediately that something was not right It looked like she had been in our bedroom closet and had gone through our drawers and belongingsI didn't immediately know that anything had been stolen About weeks later, I was on a local neighborhood website and another family in my town had posted that their dog sitter had totally ripped them off and they posted photos of the thieves One of the photos was of the same girl that I had hired through rover.com When I realized that she had stolen from this other family, I went home and took a closer look and discovered that she had stolen jewelry and precious items from me too I went to the local police the next morning and filed a police report It turns out that this girl had done the same thing to multiple other families in my town and she and her cohorts were all heroin addicts looking to steal items to fund their heroin drug habits The police told me that they had contacted rover.com and told them of her thieving behavior and rover had taken her down and banned her from marketing her dog sitter services on the website The big thing that I am really angry about is that rover.com never even contacted me to alert me to the fact that this dog sitter was a thief She texted me and her other clients after rover.com took her down and she said that rover.com took her down because they suspected her of booking dog sitting appointments off their site (so they wouldn't get their cut of the fees charged) This was a total lie and if I hadn't already been suspicious of her I could have hired her again to come dog sit for me, not knowing that she was a lying thief When I called rover to complain that they hadn't contacted me, they had nothing to say about it They just don't care They supposedly vet their dog sitters, but clearly, this girl passed their screening and turned out to be a lying thief I would never recommend rover.com to anyone based on how they handled knowing that a dog sitter that booked appointments through their website went on and ripped those customers off She is now behind bars because another woman who got ripped off by her had the courage to set up a sting with our local police and she was caught with a credit card in her possession that belonged to one of her clients She and her cohorts are expected to be in jail for a long time for what they did Rover.com needs to assume some responsibility for their dog sitters when they turn out to be thieves They did nothing and they seem to have no interest in protecting the people who use their services DO NOT hire a dog sitter through this website Find someone who has actually worked for someone you know and make sure you know what kind of person you are hiring to come into your home and take care of your precious pet

We trusted rover.com to find a pet sitter for our dogs The dogs were mistreated during their stay and one of them has to go to the vet because he has sores all over the underside of his belly and his "elbows" are badly swollen This company did not do its due diligence by checking on the people it recommends as sitters They admitted on the phone that they don't do any spot checks after their initial background checks are completed They then stated that I have to pay a $deductible This is their insurance policy...not mine...why do I have to pay a deductible? I was not negligent except for the fact that I used this service when I should not have...why should I have to pay anything All three of my dogs were in perfect condition when I left them Two of the are injured and the other one isn't acting right

I contacted Rover.com in order to locate and hire a pet sitter to perform drvisits according to the guidelines set out in their website of a set fee (in my case $10) for each minute visit which is paid directly to Rover.comI identified a sitter, met the sitter, exchanged the key and gave her instructions for caring for my animals and completed the necessary hiring procedure via Rover.com websiteI did not further discuss length of visit as the guidelines offered online were sufficientUpon reviewing the sitters visits via my security system logs, the sitter's visits averaged minutes (out of total visits) with visits being minutes or lessI asked the company for review and refund for incomplete service and they have stated that I needed to seek refund from the sitter directlyThey argue that the sitter visited my home times a day as hired to do and that I did not notify the sitter during her contracted period that I was unhappy with her service, therefore th

***,
I apologize that you feel our response did not address your concernsHowever, our team has been in communication with you in regards to this situationWe hold all sitters on our platform to very high professional standardsWhile this doesn’t diminish your past success in providing care for pets, we do reserve the right to remove sitters that we feel Rover may not be a fit
Best,Kate

Rover does not properly vet and train sittersThe sitters are just individuals looking to make extra money on the sideDefinitely, not professionalsOn paper, Julie, our sitter is the perfect sitterUnfortunately, in reality, our dog is injured in a days stayOur dog was bitten with a week recovery and drain tubeCoco was taken to the park where she played with a German shepherdCoco is well socialized and even though it is a dog park, she should not have been allowed to play with a large dog specially with no supervisionThe situation ended in the German Shepherd biting CocoThe wound was covered by her fur and unfortunately, we didn't get home till the next dayAt the vet, the doctor cleaned the wound and removed the fur to surface a deep subcutaneous wound with a second wound that had a deep pocketHow could a a few seconds of a fight result in such a bad wound? Coco is one year old and is still a puppyMy notes clearly stated thatHow can a sitter let a puppy play with a ferocious and aggressive German shepherd? The result is that we're in trauma over the injury and our dog is in pain since days now and will be suffering for another weeksWe're busy, working professionals and have taken the best care of our dog for this entire year with no incidentsThis situation has not only caused us trauma mentally and emotionally as pet parents but, it's unbearable to see a little innocent dog in so much pain and suffering with a drain tube at such an early ageI would highly recommend not using strangers to watch your dogsRover and other instant services have made us blindPeople who are not trained professionals and claim to be "sitters" can never take care appropriate care of your dogYou're better off looking for alternate optionsAs for Julie, she was apologetic and offered to pay for the vet chargesI have only one question to ask her - 'What if your own child was bitten mercilessly in your absence and ended up in the hospital? How much money could one pay to give you relief and peace from that kind of pain and suffering?' There really is no turning back from this incident but, I write this review to warn other pet owners from using sitters who may seem to be 'perfect' and are very warm and probably great human beings but, are NOT equipped to take care of your dogThey have probably no training, no concern and definitely no commitment to your dogPlease consider working with Julie at your own risk and likewise with other sitters on RoverI would highly recommend NOT using Rover as they do not vet their sittersReviews are misleading and you will never know how the sitter is managing your pet during your time awayRover did not even offer to refund us for the stayHorrible service with no integrity

This company advised me to leave a booking after making contact, the client's boyfriend showed up while I was dog-sitting for them, had 8-unknown men over heavily drinking I did as advised by Rover before and after being placed in a potentially lethal situation, and the client left a bad review which was a lie by omission Rover does not have any safety measures in place for its dog sitters, and shows a general lack of care for the safety of its dog sittersThey are aware of the situation, have not removed the person who caused this situation from their site to prevent this from happening in the future, and refuse to remove the blatant lie reviewNo steps have been made to prevent this from happening to another potential sitter

I hired a pet sitter through rover.com to watch dron our cat for four days to feed him, administer medicine, and clean up after him
The sitter allowed the cat to go to the bathroom in my son's room the entire time By the time we got home the smell was so foul we could smell it from the lobby of our three floor walk up apartment The sitter had no good excuse for why she didn't clean up the mess My son couldn't sleep in his room until we had the carpets removed and cleaned When I contacted rover, they basically said sorry there's nothing they could do because the sitter is technically an independent contractor
When the cleaning bill came back for $I called rover again and they told me I should ask the sitter if she could reimburse me for the cost of the cleaning, however when I asked if rover would facilitate the conversation, they said they wouldn'tI texted the sitter asking if she could help pay the $cleaning bill and of course never heard from her
