I've had several people provide in-house visits and that went wellNow, for the past months, I've tried to find someone to board one of my dogsShe doesn't get on well with other dogs, cats or young children so needs a home without thatI've had two sitters agree and then cancel already, one week before I'm leaving for Thanksgiving vacationsome of the sitters with Rover.com are very irresponsible, rude, cancel at the last minute, etccustomers are not allowed to post negative reviews about this onlineAlso, you don't get the sitters full name so you can't complain about anyone personallymany are students so they don't really care, they're going to move on to other things
Description of work:
Our dogs were at a sitter of Rover's and the sitter ignored them and we feel negligence occured because our yr old was almost dead, couldn't stand right, wouldn't eat and as soon as we got home, she immediately wanted water like she hasn't had it in days She lost almost lbs in a week She had to go on Vitals and three medications to get her back to health She had tears on her chest, bumps on her elbows Our great dane also had huge bumps on his elbow Rover refused to pay for vet bills that cost almost dollars They also refused to refund the stay stating its the sitter choice to refund So, summarizing this up, they allow sitters to neglect dogs and then we have to pay for the after affects, vet bills, and almost having a dead dog on arrival The sitter wrote nothing all week about our dog not eating or her shaking and losing weight If we got a picture from her, it was our dog wrapped in a blanket so you couldn't tell if you wanted to that she wasn't eating Ro
This is the worst company ever! They take a percentage out of your pay, it used to be %but now it's 20%! They monitor and read every single message you send to people through their website, talk about invasion of privacy! On top of that they do not care at all about the sitters who have been with for years and have wonderful reviews because they will take the smallest thing as a reason to permanently deactivate your accountThey are the most unethical business I have ever come in contact with
I used rover.com once and it seemed to work OK, but took a lot of research and time contacting and meeting potential pet sittersI tried a second time, contacting people from my house sitting and dates filter, and none of them were availableClearly, the company does not require sitters to keep their calendars up to dateIt basically serves as a site for anyone to add a profile and leave itThere is no reason to believe your pet will get good care via Rover
This company advised me to leave a booking after making contact, the client's boyfriend showed up while I was dog-sitting for them, had 8-unknown men over heavily drinking I did as advised by Rover before and after being placed in a potentially lethal situation, and the client left a bad review which was a lie by omission Rover does not have any safety measures in place for its dog sitters, and shows a general lack of care for the safety of its dog sittersThey are aware of the situation, have not removed the person who caused this situation from their site to prevent this from happening in the future, and refuse to remove the blatant lie reviewNo steps have been made to prevent this from happening to another potential sitter

There are some good sitters on the siteUnfortunately, if you end up with a bad one, you are out of luck as this company assumes no responsibility and offer no assistance at allThey claim they are merely a referral company like *** for drivers but unlike ***, they cannot offer refund, assistance or compensation of any sortThey claim they have insurance protection, but just like any insurance companies, they are a pain in the back to deal with and deny all claimsIt is really a scam on paper to say that the bookings there are protectedIt really is not protected in any wayI will not trust sitters on their website and instead will use local pet hotels or franchise petsitting services at *** *** *** or *** instead: at least they are responsible for the service they provide!
I would be very careful in using Rover Do not trust the sitter reviews I think their sitter review system is very easy to manipulate by getting friends to write reviews after "hiring" the sitter for a single day The sitter I used had a five star rating, but she didn't even show up for the first three days of the appointment and lied to me about it Luckily I had a security camera to learn the truth and was able to find another sitter while I was traveling Terrible experience
BEWARE WHEN BOOKING We booked a sitter on Wednesday at to start on Thursday for a vacation for the weekendWithin less than hours of booking, our pup was vomiting and having diarrheaWe contacted John Rwith whom we had JUST made the reservation and he agreed it would be best to cancel and he would put in the refundHowever, we came to find out he only refunded us 1/the amount and claimed it was because he "had turned down other offers" in that short window of timeSeriously? This was NOT a reservation that had been in place for any extended period of timeHOURS!!!!! And he agreed that a sick pup was not a good call to leave with himObviously, not the honest kind of guy who does the right thing but is just trying to get as much as he can out of thisUnfortunate that Rover supports/stands behind this ludicrous behaviorThey basically said they can't help and that it's up to the sitterI would caution you going through Rover at all and definitely DO NOT use JOHN R in FALLS CHURCH
I really try not to complain or give bad reviewsBut after a few weeks of this stewing in my head, I decided I have to warn other doggie parents
Ever used the dog watching/walking app Rover.com? I would suggest you dont or you stopI found a sitter that I really, really likedI booked her multiple times on the appHowever, the last time my dogs were there, my poor *** was bit by another dogOn the eyeThis is in NO way the sitters fault
After taking *** to the doggie ER because his eye was bleeding, they said the bite went through all three eyelids and were concerned that it hit his corneaHowever, due to the extremely bad infection they couldnt tell until that was taken care ofSo off we went with some meds for my pupNeedless to say, I was devastated
Then Rover contacted me and said they would pay for the medical expenses within a day periodSomewhere there must have been some miscommunication, because I was under the impression that because this was going to need time to be properly diagnosed they were going to pay it all minus the $deductible(They also claim to have premium insurance.) This was GREAT newsI took *** in for a follow upHis eye was still bleeding, only it was on the inside and not drainingMy vet recommended I take him to a doggie oncologistI did, and they said he had an ulcer that needed to be taken care of before she could tell what the damage isI went home with more medsA few weeks later we had a follow up appt and sure enough, he was blind in his left eye due to retinal disconnection from the dog biteFrom the day of the injury until the discovery of his official blindness, was just over a monthSo Rover.com reimbursed me the costs within the days and denied my costs outside the month windowThere may be more costs in the future depending on if his eye bulges and pain level, his eye may need to be removedIn my opinion, this is flat out wrongSome may think otherwise, but *** is my fur-baby, hes my first bornI treat my dogs like they are a part of the familyNow due to an injury he got while under the care of a rover sitter he is permanently blind in his eye and Im expected to pay for the rest of the medical expenses accrued due to this dog biteNot cool
This company is a completely unethicalDo not trust them to have any protection for you or your animalI had extreme damage done to my home; the owner and I worked it out, yet Rover ended the stay on their endAfter emailing with them about it, they closed my account completely and kept the moneyThey should be put out of business, I fear for those that use this company at all

Rover.com has a lot of work to do with their communication processI have been trying to be set up as a sitter for over a monthNo communication from themI always have to email them and then get the run aroundThere was no delay in processing my $fee for a background checkI'm actually not comfortable using this serviceIf I was to have any issues I don't feel they understand customer service and know how to communicate properlyI would not be a sitter for them or trust my dogs in the care of one of their sittersThe sitters are probably fine but if there is a problem no one on the Rover side knows how to deal with the slightest question never mind an emergency
I booked a sitter through Rover.com who in felted my puppies with roundwormIt has caused severe trauma to all of them, cost me significant money, and left several items in my house ruined due to contamination with fecesAlso, rover.com does not release sitter info, so I had to do detective work myself on the sitterI discovered that she has a vast criminal record including arrest and jail just days after I picked up my puppies
do not use this servicethey misinterpret messages sent to and from sitters illegallyThey violate their own terms of service and over charge people who sit through the service20% which is often times over dollars not accredited by Revdex.com, violates laws and does not do anything for youYour better off using another serviceThey use the costs for advertising and are not insuredSHUT IT DOWNBreaks laws, violates privacy laws, and overall horrible serviceDo NOT USE THESE PEOPLE'S SERVICE SCAM!

We used the Rover app when going out of town for the weekendWe have dogs, and three ducksIt was made clear to the sitter that the ducks had to be locked in their pen by dark due to predators(coyotes, raccoons, etc) and the dogs ate around 6:00PM We left town and that night tried to check in with the sitter to make sure she was able to get into the house okay, at around 9:00PM since we still had not heard from her we sent over a family friend to see if the animals had been taken care ofThe ducks were still out and the dogs had not been fed or let outThankfully they were okayAt this time we decided to cancel the Rover sitter since they were not doing as instructedEven though we cancelled due to lack of service and putting our animals in danger, Rover still billed us for half of the amount and refused to refund usThis was our first and will be our ONLY experience with RoverDO NOT USE THIS APP UNLESS YOU ARE OKAY WITH PAYING SOMEONE WHO DOES NOT SHOW UP TO WATCH YOUR ANIMALS
On Rover's website, I found a caretaker for my pet for a day weekend. My caretaker's profile on Rover clearly stated that she was from a non-smoking householdBefore I left, I asked my caretaker to limit her perfume based on my cat's terrible allergy historyWhen I came home, my home was filled with disgusting second-hand smoke. When I confronted my caretaker, she responded that she had vaped marijuana during her stay and that she had a friend over (without my permission) who smoked cigarettes on my property. The cigarettes were all over my garbage and multiple window latches were open, meaning that my caretaker and her friend smoked inside of the houseOn Rover's website, they advertise a "Rover Guarantee" which states," Physical damage to a pet owner’s personal property caused by the sitter or walker, or the sitter’s or walker’s resident pet(s)." I had hope that the company would handle my claim appropriatelyAfter weeks of scrubbing my house, throwing away my bedding, pillows,
