Hi ***, Thank you for bringing this to our attentionWe also received your email, and we've refunded you the full $via the *** account you had on file with RoverWe hope this resolves the issue! Best, Rover Support
Recently while my fiancé and I were out of town for training (active-duty ***) we relied on
"Meg" from Rover to watch over our pets
The deal that we PAID for was that she would watch our pets in our home and we even paid her extra to take care of our cat
She called us after only one day of us being gone and informed us that she was allergic to cats and that she could not stay at our house
With us being so far away with limited options and time we agreed that she could take our dog to her house and check on our cat (feed & clean litter box) daily
She only cleaned our cats litter box TWICE in a week and his food and water bowl were empty when we got homeShe was suppose to take *** (our dog) back to our house around close of business, however, she had PLANS WITH FRIENDS and could not complete that taskOnce again something that we PAID for prior to her starting her job
When we went to get our dog he was soaking wet, filthy dirty and stunk!
We contacted emergency customer service where we were ensured the problem would be taken care ofNot only have they not done any of this they have not even been in contact with meI am so scared that this sitter will neglect other animals and will continue to scam customersRover lets her get away with it and in the end the ANIMALS ARE SUFFERING!!!!!!!

Hello all,
I have hired a sitter from Rover.com from 05/to 06/I met with the person before sitting to make sure that she is real; I checked her rover.com profile and had positive reviews on Rover.comShe was to housesit my dogs in my houseFirst, my next-door neighbor stated that she was not staying at the house for the first three days, even though she was to sleep there; I was in Europe at the time and I texted her that this is the caseShe did not know that I had my friends checking on dogs as wellShe came to the house at that point (as my friends have confirmed)
Then, I came home at PM instead of PM, just to find my two dogs fenced in a yard, while in my living room there were two other dogs and a month old babyDogs she sat thru rover.com in my own home!
Afterwards, my septic system broke (this is a brand new home- no one else lived in it) and the company rep who came out to assess the system found out that someone (sitter since no one else has ever lived in the house) flushed un-flushable wipes causing $in damages; pretty soon my washing machine broke----a year old! The repair man stated that engine died because someone put a huge load to washTo replace this was $
Dogs were dirty, house smelled horrible after her care
I called Rover.com and spend minutes talking to a very nice person, but there was NOTHING that rover.com could do even though she was their employee; I am choosing not to go with Rover.com for my dogs again since they could not do ANYTHING despite horrible treatment that my dogs got; not to mention damage to my house
Please be aware that person can have positive reviews, but still do a horrible job and rover.com will NOT do a thing to remedy this experienceOoops, they will offer a personal match so they can find you a sitter through rover.comWhy would anyone in their right mind hire a sitter with rover.com when they do not stand behind the product they sell you*** here I come!

I left my dog with a Rover sitter and had the worst professional experience with herMy dog had a heart condition, and although he was very active and seemingly healthy, he did experience heart failure in the pastBecause of this, I met with the sitter beforehand and provided a two page document of how to care for him - his temperament, what symptoms to look for, and emergency contact info

Has anyone used the service Rover.com?….(An online website recommending dog sitters in your area) Here’s our NIGHTMARE experience with rover.com:
We recently moved to Naples, Flfrom Arizona We wanted to go to Miami for several nights and made the mistake of going to rover.com to arrange for our bischon and maltepoo to be cared for in a safe sitters home We have never boarded our dogs before because they are used to a walled yard in Arizona After visiting the rover.com recommended sitter’s home and giving details about the dogs preferences, their recent move to Florida, and their closeness to us we arranged for the boarding The rover.com sitter assured us she is always home with the dogs she sits and will treat them as her own The second afternoon of our trip to Miami we get a call from the sitter saying our bischon (Sophie) had been let out of the sitters front door as she was bringing in groceries! She said “I called her but she wouldn’t come back” (as if it was the dogs fault? Sophie was obviously searching for us) A rep from rover.com called us as we were racing back to Naples in tears, devastated that our poor Sophie was wandering around an unknown area filled with swampy woods, black panthers, hawks, coyotes, and alligators, not to mention near a very busy highway We raced back to Naples to search for our precious Sophie We were assured by the rover.com rep that they would have flyers with Sophie’s picture posted on every corner by the sitters house and that all their sitters in the area would be searching for Sophie in the morning When we got to Naples we immediately pick up our maltepoo from the sitter so she would be safe and started searching the area most of the night, on foot and in the car calling for Sophie in the dark We felt we would never find her again We finally went back home and slept (or tried to sleep) for hours, got up and starting searching the area again in the morning There were NO flyers in the area, and we saw no one searching for Sophie as promised by rover.com After several hours we saw a grey mop of an animal slowly walking on the sidewalk by a densely wooded, swampy area blocks from the sitters house It did not look like a dog or a cat, but as we got closer we could see it may be Sophie It was! She was soaking wet, matted, full of burrs, and could hardly walk If we are to believe the time reported by the sitter of Sophie’s negligent release, Sophie had been wandering those woods for at least hours during the nightLong story, short: Sophie had vet visits after this trauma, the first was to take care of her injured feet and back, the second visit weeks later because although she ate ravenously the morning she was found she continued to decline in health over the next weeks She ate very little, had no energy and was hiding under furniture for safety (not like our Sophie prior to this trauma.) She stopped eating altogether and lost an entire pound in weeks (her weight at the initial visit was 11lbs,,weeks after the trauma she was skin and bones and only 10lbs)
rover.com pretended to be very concerned about Sophie's recovery but refused to pay the second visit bill because the doctor did not definitively diagnose Sophie’s obviously resultant illness with 100% certainty Really? Who gives a 100% certain diagnosis?
The first visit was conservative approx $, because we were to watch and see if she developed pneumonia, leptospirosis, or other bacterial or viral infection from her trauma The second visit of course was more expensive approx $because Sophie was so ill she needed Subq fluids, antibiotic injection, dewormer and nausea shot and medications for continuing at homeWe were All so traumatized by the experience and incredulous that despite the negligent actions of the rover.com sitter, rover.com was refusing to cover the related medical expenses!
Why didn’t the sitter have our dogs behind a safety barrier if she was leaving the house How could she not anticipate one or both of our dogs would try to escape and look for us? How can rover.com refuse to pay the related medical expenses, not to mention our lost money for the hotel in Miami and grooming costs related to the extreme exposure Sophie had being wet all night in the swampy woods filled with predators?
Beware who you trust with your precious family members!
I used Rover to book a local dog sitter for a stay between August and September Upon completion of the stay, the sitter did not return the keys to our home Despite repeated contacts, the sitter has not responded In addition, during the stay, the sitter caused damage to our wood floors by allowing dog urine to remain stagnant and uncleaned
In response to direct communication about the issue, Rover stated that their "Guarantee" does not cover these claims; though according to their online terms of guarantee, it is not excluded In short, Rover denied my claim under its Guarantee for no legitimate reason
My review is a little different, as I have not had an issue with a sitter on Rover but with their pricing and billing
On each sitter's page, it lists the "price per night" for house sitting There is a link to view any additional pricing (such as holiday and puppy rates) that come with the service Seems pretty straight forward
IT IS NOT What they actually charge is the nightly fee PER DOG PER NIGHT, not per night There is an option for the sitters to list additional fees for more than dog, but even if they don't list this they charge you the nightly fee per dog, doubling (or tripling, quadrupling, depending on the number of dogs) the cost
This needs to be made clearer on their site When you say that the cost is $xx per night, it needs to be that amount, or you need to tell the customer that the cost is also per dog before they get to the point of payment This feels incredibly scammy, as if they're hoping that the customer won't notice the double charge until after they book (which is what happened to me the first time I booked through them - this time I took painstaking precautions and noticed the issue)
When I contacted Rover about this, they told me it was something I needed to work out with the sitter I informed them that this was not a customer/sitter issue, it is either an issue with their system or their misleading site After speaking with both sitters I was considering, it appears that Rover tells them that the price is per dog per night, but does not pass that information on to the customer This is clearly a system issue with Rover (or a way to intentionally scam customers out of money) and something they need to address and not pass off onto customers/sitters I won't be using them again
We were visiting California and had out two dogs with us and needed someone to watch them I did a lot or research on Rover.com including Revdex.com, but also the personal reviews on each individual (highly recommend) we found one a wonderful person to watch our pets and I could not be happier I was skeptical at 1st but after using this service I would highly recommend Just do your homework way ahead of your stay and check several in the area and thru communication you will know with you own instinct this will be the right person for you! I know was in our case and will be happy to use again and happy to recommend this service
I recently used Rover.com to hire a person (Gia) to come to my house to feed my cats while I was awayWhen I came home my bed, couch, chairs and carpets were soiled in urine and stoolI had a completely soiled white comforter so I thought how did the sitter not see or especially smell this as she passed my bedroom to get to the kitchen to feed my animals? I looked in the cat box but it was completely clean, as if it was not usedGia must have come by the day I had returned and only cleaned the boxShe came other days to take a pic of my cats assuring me she had been coming byI called Rover and spoke to Josh who never followed up with me so I called back, he stating he forgot to forward my info to his superiors and had actually forgotten about the call altogether, he apologized several times, and assured me would now escalate my caseThe next day I received an email stating the issue had been resolved, describing incidences we didn't even talk aboutI wrote back stating he must have sent me someone else's emailI received no reply and my case was droppedAfter a week I went to use my toaster and it had urine in it, also, all my laundry detergent was gone along with some other household suppliesI learned from the rover employee that she was going thru a divorceShe literally that week had signed papers to relinquish her house and was now homelessI then realized she might also be mentally ill, after the toaster incident, I wondered if she staged the stool all over my house in spite for loosing her homeIn years my animals had never behaved that wayRover doesn't take responsibility for people that they hire and they vehemently don't careI suggest with my misfortune you not use this coand know going in Rover, com doesn't bond these people (I asked)Its the luck of the draw if you come out unscathed or stolen fromJust beware these people are not regulated by anyone so once they have the keys to your home and the permission by you to be there they can do whatever they wish while your gone and you will not know until you come homeAlso Rover.com doesn't insure your home or any losses you have nor do they take responsibility for the people they allow to sign up to caretaker you animals
Cynthia watched my chihuahuas while I was on vacation from oct 7-on a cruise
All status updates from Cynthia indicated the chihuahuas were all fine
When Henry was returned to me after my vacation he was not himselfHe was hiding in the corner and would scream when I tried to pick him upHe was lethargic and wouldn't interact with usHe has never acted like this before and I became extremely concerned
I had contacted Cynthia and asked if anything happened to him while we were away and asked why he was in painShe said she didn't know
That evening I noticed he had deep puncture wounds near his rear area and immediately made him a vet appointment for the next day
The doctor verified that it was indeed a bite mark inflicted from another dogHe performed blood work, flushed out the area and prescribed anti inflammatory meds, anti biotics, and pain medicationHe will inspect him once again in a week, for there is a chance the wound may have gone into the tissue where in this case he will need surgery to put a drain in
Henry's vet bills, at this point, are $which I paid forShe refuses to pay my vet bills that were caused by her negligence
I then spoke with Cynthia and provided her pictures of his woundsShe told me it may have come from a pug she watched one night but isn't sure
During this conversation, I had learned that during Henry's stay Cynthia also was watching a German Shepard, terrier mix, pugs, labordoodle, as well as her own dogI was only led to believe it would be her dog and pugs visitingIf I had known she would have been watching dogs there is no way I would have agreed to her watching my dogsThey are tiny, nervous chihuahuas who are afraid of new dogsI was also assured that my dogs would be kept seperated from other animals when not supervised, which they were notLittle Henry only weighs pounds
I was also made aware that my dogs were kept crated at night, which they have never been in their entire lives which aided in Henry's high stressI made myself very clear that they were to never be crated which Cynthia told me would not be an issue
Cynthia never got Henry medical attention during his stay for this injuryIt is so deep and punctured his skin so I know there was a lot of blood involved I had to find out about his injury on my own
I will take this matter further but I absolutely would never use her again or recommend herShe had a legal obligation to get my poor puppy the medical attention he needed and she should have told me about itShe also should never have put my pound puppy with aggressive large dogs and leave him alone with them defenselessShe lied about how many dogs she was watching and now my dog is traumatized
This sitter let my dog suffer for an entire week, did not give him the medical attention he needed, and then left me to pay for the $vet billI want to be reimbursed, this has been an absolute nightmare
Cynthia by no means should be looking after small dogsShe left my tiny chihuahua defenseless with bigger dogs and more dogs than she was allowedMy dog got injured (large bite) and this sitter tried to hide it and did not get my dog the medical attention he neededMy vet bill is $And she should pay because of her gross negligenceShe refusesThis whole experience was a nightmare
I cannot even begin to tell you the horrific experience I had with this corrupt company First off, I had my dog dropped off at sitter where he was promptly lost within two hours of my dropping him off The sitter then sent me texts bashing me for "not having a socialized dog, etc." That was completely false, and of course, completely uncalled for He promised me he had a high fence, would be home to watch 24/and not to worry He had just sent me a text minutes earlier telling me how my dog was adjusting well and all would be fine Of course the minute he loses my dog it is all MY fault, right?
OK, so I am worried to death my dog may get hit by a car and die due to his negligence He said he only left him for ten minutes and when he came back he was gone Oh my
Two and half days later my dog shows up at my house No help from ROVER My dog found his way on HIS OWN! He wanted to be home, obviously I was working long hours and had to check messages during short breaks during the day
ROVER went ahead and snatched my dog from MY PROPERTY without authorization, after they found out that he was at home, while I was at work They promptly went ahead and placed him in yet another home, WITHOUT my authorization
At the end of the day, I got my dog back safely, but it was through no help of ROVER
Then, they tried to make themselves out to be some sort of heroes or something because my dog made it back to my house alive?? He did that on his own! Rover had absolutely nothing to do with it They further added insult to injury by harassing me to accept the change and payment as if I should be happy with everything they did wrong! I was trying to put away my groceries and this Natalie M person from customer support would not leave me alone, even though I kept asking her to She aggravated me by continuing to harass me, and then started to threaten that if I did not accept the terms within hours they would go ahead and take payment and close my account I told her she was harassing me and that it was illegal, along with the other things they had done, such as trespassing She then apparently went ahead and took payment unauthorized from my credit card, fraudulently, and then closed my account/deactivated it, so that I could not post a review or my experience on the site I am warning any and every one what this horrible experience and company is DO NOT USE THEM! MORALLY and ETHICALLY absent I would give them an F- for the absolute worst customer service ever I LOST a dog, among other things They have such high egos apparently that they will protect their reputation at any cost They must be stopped Poor pets DO NOT TRUST THEM!!!
They are not doing anything right here A very, shady practice who will only care about their bottom line DISGUSTING!!
Hi there,
I had a really bad experience when I send my dog to boarding house from Rover few days ago
I send my dog to one boarding house family on Wednesday night, and ready to pick her up on Sunday MorningOn Sunday monring, the family called and told me my dog ran away because they didnt close the doorI was so worried about my dog because it was raining on Sunday and really get angry about the familyHow come they didnt close the doorTHIS IS THE BASIC THING THEY SHOULD AVOID!
I asked their neighbor to see my dog and told them my dog ran away on sunday morning, as I have been told my dog ran out on Sunday Monring
Actually I found out my dog ran out on Sat NIGHT!! NOT SUNDAY MONRING!! They told me the wrong time and I told every one the wrong time that my dog ran outWe missing the best time to look for my dog
I cant believe this will happen in Rover boarding house familyI thought they are really take care of my dog, really careful to look after any dogsBut they dont

I've used Rover many times in the past, and have always had a good experience..up until my most recent experience with themLong story short, I booked a stay for my two dogs with Rover and on the first day they were there my sitter forgot to close his front door and both dogs escapedMy one dog was hit by a truck and killed instantly and my other dog was missing for three daysRover reimbursed me for the stay and for the cremation of my dog, which is great, but at the end of the day my dog is still deadThis is not the reason for my bad review, howeverMy reason for the bad review is that Rover's insurance does nothing to help cover the cost for getting another petIts great they cover the cremation, but I wouldn't need the cremation if my dog was still aliveI understand accidents happen, and I've come to terms with the situation, but think it is absurd they do nothing to help owners get another pet in situations like thisMy dog was $and wasn't even two years oldShe was trained in nose work and agility so that is over $1,of training down the drainI wasn't asking for a full reimbursement, but even offering $to get a rescue dog or something would be appreciatedThis whole experience has caused me to cancel all of my other plans that would require me to get a dog sitter this year, so, with all this said, I can't bring myself to give this company more than a single star
I used a sitter from Rover.com to watch my dogWhen I returned my dog showed visible signs of abuse and neglectShe had tree sap matted in her fur and was covered in bite marks and scratchesShe had a puncture wound on her head that has since scarredWhen I picked up my dog, the sitter had dog crates stacked on top of dog crates filled with dogsShe also had dogs running around outside and in the houseThere were too many dogs for her to controlI contacted the sitter regarding the bite marks and scatches and her response was, "that's what happens when dogs play." I brought my concern to Rover and they did not handle the situation properlyThis sitter clearly violated the terms of Rover.com by leaving dogs outside unattended and did not provide a safe environment for my dogI also brought to their attention the other many complaints people had left saying their dogs were also injured while in the sitter's careRover turned a blind eye to my complaint and did not handle the si
First time using Rover and it will be the last Thankfully I have security cameras to know that the girl named Fiona never came to my house to take my dogs out Fiona stated that she did come to the house, which was a lie I was in another state frantically trying to get someone there for my two dogs It ended up being hours that my dogs were alone I called Rover , they stated that Fiona will not be fired and that they will help coach her to do a better job I still have not received a refund from them None of this is acceptableOn top of everything else you cannot leave a bad review This is misrepresentation of the company They should be held accountableI feel terrible for those who do not have security cameras since Rover .com does not care who they hire and do not let others leave a true account for a review Again this company is very misleading I wish I had known about this company before I used them Again I used them due to "only good " reviews

rover.com pretended to be very concerned about Sophie's recovery but refused to pay the second visit bill because the doctor did not definitively diagnose Sophie’s obviously resultant illness with 100% certainty Really?

I have tried numerous times to contact a sitter and I don't even get a call back from some of them, that I have contacted Very disappointing!
