I recently had Katie babysit my four dogsI told her one of my dogs had kennel cough and that she would need to give the dog medication every day for the kennel coughI also told her to keep a very close eye on him because he was sickI checked in with her every day and she said that he was OK
Then I requested that she take him to the vet because he didn’t eat one dayShe couldn’t get him into my usual vet and then told me he was doing okI had no reference to my dogs condition so I told her that my boyfriend would try to get him in tomorrow
My boyfriend got home to one of my dogs barely breathing taking shallow breaths and barely movingHe took the dog immediately to the emergency vet and they said that if he hadn’t taken him that he would’ve died
She did not take the health of my dog seriously nor could she tell that my dog was sickConsidering he almost died she should’ve noticed that he wasn’t doing wellI also asked her to feed my fish while I was away which is a fairly simple taskShe completely over fed them and half of my fish diedI have used rover on multiple occasions and have never had a complaint
Katie is not fit to watch dogs or fish and I hope that all dog owners take me seriouslyI can’t imagine what else might happen under her care

I have had several issues with this company and I am very disappointed in their serviceAs a sitter my dog was viciously attacked (puncured above his eye and lost a tooth, and will likely need $1,in dental work) by a customer's dogThe rover helpline people didn't careI filed a request for rover insurance to cover some of the medical expenses and was denied because he didnt have a profile set up currently, which he has in the past but I took it down because he didnt like using rover siters so I leave him with familyEven though the phone representative said that any dog in my home would be covered regaurdless of profile statusSo not only do they lie, just to make a few bucks, no one from rover showed any actual concern for my dogs well beingNot only is he in physical pain but he is psychologically traumatized and won't leave the house, now all that for me to make under $and them $Not worth it peopleAll they care about is making a buckWhen it comes to well being of pets, they don't give a $h!tThe only reason we ever used rover is because they have a promise to insurance medical injury and property damage but all they really do if you file a claim is deny it, or charge you or the customer for the damagesThey don't actually take any responsibility or cover liabilityIn addition, I have had sitters through rover, who through parties in my house who left dirt and empty liquor bottles in my house and even caught a teapot on fireImagine if my house caught on fireIt was terrifyingI don't recommend rover to anyone who cares about animals and their own homes

I have repeatedly asked Rover.com to take me off of their mailing list for all emails, even those pertaining to my accountHowever, the messages persistI hope this review, and the negativity it garners, will force them to follow through with my repeated requests

Pet parents beware!!!
Absolutely the worst customer service! If you have any troubles or your dog is neglected you'll receive no support and you'd be just as well off if you used***
While under the care of Rover, our dog ingested something she shouldn't have had, and incurred $in vet billsRover's "free premium pet insurance" denied it without taking information from our vetThey claim to offer insurance through a second company but they will deny your claim without forwarding it to the insurance company
This aside, look at Rovers website and you'll see only five-star reviews for all their dog sitters (red flag!)We posted our poor experience on Rover's Facebook page and the comments were deleted

I used this company once and was beyond satisfied bc I have a very volatile dog and the sitter managed to calm her aggressions like it was magicIt was unbelievable and I was able to watch my dog interact with other puppies for the first time ever (she's 6) I began crying when he sent me the video and then again as I saw it in Person .Confident I could go on vacation and leave her with him again, I started to book the stay and found out they deleted his account with no notice to me I'm having to cancel my vacation I used every resource I had to get in touch with him but he's Unavailable he did give me an explanation why, bs and Now I'm livid That's all I'll sayShame on your company

Video evidence confirms Rover did not deliver services from Aug - 16, as promised Upon notifying Merchant, they instructed me to contact Rover employee directly to handle dispute This is a corporate issue not one to burden customer(s) $was paid for this service and merchant will not handle
After four separate emails attempting to resolve and four separate refusals to handle from merchant, we're extremely frustrated and certainly disappointed with a service we hired in good faith to care for our pets & home

We used Rover.com to board one of our dogs the wedding weekShe came back with a severe cough that spread to all of our other petsThat's right, she came back with the flu
Long story short, I contacted the woman that at least one of her dogs are obviously ill and I contacted Rover who basically said "not our problem" while our vet bills pile inShe still shows as active on the app and has FIVE dogs with the illness.\ I deleted the app and wrote that experience off as a loss The vet said that even with the vaccine, that the flu is still contagious so please be careful who you board your dogs with

I used rover.com once and it seemed to work OK, but took a lot of research and time contacting and meeting potential pet sittersI tried a second time, contacting people from my house sitting and dates filter, and none of them were availableClearly, the company does not require sitters to keep their calendars up to dateIt basically serves as a site for anyone to add a profile and leave itThere is no reason to believe your pet will get good care via Rover

Hi ***, We’re so sorry to hear about this experience and glad to hear that your dog is home safe with youAs pet parents ourselves, pet safety is our number one priority and Rover Support is doing a full review of the incidentI can see that you’ve been in touch with our Trust & Safety team

I've used Rover many times in the past, and have always had a good experience..up until my most recent experience with themLong story short, I booked a stay for my two dogs with Rover and on the first day they were there my sitter forgot to close his front door and both dogs escapedMy one dog was hit by a truck and killed instantly and my other dog was missing for three daysRover reimbursed me for the stay and for the cremation of my dog, which is great, but at the end of the day my dog is still deadThis is not the reason for my bad review, howeverMy reason for the bad review is that Rover's insurance does nothing to help cover the cost for getting another petIts great they cover the cremation, but I wouldn't need the cremation if my dog was still aliveI understand accidents happen, and I've come to terms with the situation, but think it is absurd they do nothing to help owners get another pet in situations like thisMy dog was $and wasn't even two years oldShe was trained in nose work and agility so that is over $1,of training down the drainI wasn't asking for a full reimbursement, but even offering $to get a rescue dog or something would be appreciatedThis whole experience has caused me to cancel all of my other plans that would require me to get a dog sitter this year, so, with all this said, I can't bring myself to give this company more than a single star

Rover.com an online dog-boarding deactivated my profile search on Rover.comWhen dog owners come to Rover's site and choose my profile and book a stay with me, Rover will automatically get a cut of 20% and dog sitters get 80%But during Jan - Jan 15, a dog owner booked thru Rover, but did not confirm or pay, Rover canceled my profile, I did not get my 80% and I took care of the dog for days and called Animal Care and Control to come pick up the dogThe dog has a chip, so the owner was able to retrieve the dog at the shelter, and he came back and apologized to me saying he had a mental meltdownOne of Rover's staff I believe Shey in the billing department sent out a threatening email to me about suspending my profile, because I received cash payment, when in fact I never didRover is accusing me of not being a dog lover enough to be caring for dogs! Thank you so much for mediating my profile to go back up on Rover*** ***

My wife signed up to care for dogs on Rover It is a good concept and works fine However one client did not like Rover and asked if we could just not use the site when we cared for her dog We wanted to accommodate her so we said yes We did not realize that this is not allowed by Rover My wife got a message that after trying to send the client a text saying she must go thru her Rover account So Rover is now monitoring my wife's text messages from her private phone to the clients personal phone So then yesterday when we had the clients dog scheduled to come over we wanted to text them to confirm the arrival timeAgain her texting was intercepted by Rover and was not sent So getting upset my wife just tried to text them from my personal phone(Which is not listed on the Rover account) After sending the text to the persons number it came back saying "Your message wasn't delivered because this phone number hasn't been added to your account..." So how do they have the right to intercept my text messages when I am not associated with their web site at all This is a complete invasion of my privacy!!! I am going to check with a lawyer and see if this legal What if I struck up a friendship with the client and wanted to go fishing or something I can not call them or text them with out going through Rover???

Wow, I'm horrified looking to see that I am not alone in our TERRIBLE experience with a Rover dog sitterAs others have stated, this company has absolutely no follow-through when it comes to issues with a sitterOur dog sitter had a party in our home including drug use, ignored our dogs, and had sex in our bedYepA nice guest room and two full bathrooms are provided, but for some reason hanging out with friends and a "male guest" in our master bed and bath was more appealing? We have a doggie cam (disclosed to the sitter) in our master bedroom, which is how we discovered these violationsOur additional interior camera in the main living area was mysteriously not recording during her stay, so we can only guess what else went on
I contacted customer service to complain, and after back-and-forth communications, they completely stopped respondingWe were told to work directly with the sitter to resolve the issue, and I told them that wasn't acceptable, given the circumstancesAt that point, no response to additional emailsClearly their "service charge" is just for profit and not for any sort of protection or recourse for adverse eventsIt is also evident that they do not vet their sitters at all and I also agree that the reviews seem fake, given this sitter had a star rating
Obviously we have discontinued using sitters on Rover and have told everyone we know to do the sameOur dogs are our family and were clearly not this sitter's priority or concern

Hi ***,
We know how scary and stressful having an ill pet can be, and we’re so sorry you had to go through thisUpon learning of your dog’s illness, our Trust & Safety team opened an investigation right awayWe consulted with your veterinarian, who determined that your dog’s illness
wasn't directly caused by the stay with a Rover sitterThe insurance offered with Rover stays and walks (which is detailed in Rover’s Terms of Service) doesn’t cover illnesses unrelated to the stay, so unfortunately this claim is ineligible for coverage
We recognize this is not the resolution you were hoping for, and we sincerely apologize for your frustration
All the best,
Courtney

Cynthia watched my chihuahuas while I was on vacation from oct 7-on a cruise
All status updates from Cynthia indicated the chihuahuas were all fine
When Henry was returned to me after my vacation he was not himselfHe was hiding in the corner and would scream when I tried to pick him upHe was lethargic and wouldn't interact with usHe has never acted like this before and I became extremely concerned
I had contacted Cynthia and asked if anything happened to him while we were away and asked why he was in painShe said she didn't know
That evening I noticed he had deep puncture wounds near his rear area and immediately made him a vet appointment for the next day
The doctor verified that it was indeed a bite mark inflicted from another dogHe performed blood work, flushed out the area and prescribed anti inflammatory meds, anti biotics, and pain medicationHe will inspect him once again in a week, for there is a chance the wound may have gone into the tissue where in this case he will need surgery to put a drain in
Henry's vet bills, at this point, are $which I paid forShe refuses to pay my vet bills that were caused by her negligence
I then spoke with Cynthia and provided her pictures of his woundsShe told me it may have come from a pug she watched one night but isn't sure
During this conversation, I had learned that during Henry's stay Cynthia also was watching a German Shepard, terrier mix, pugs, labordoodle, as well as her own dogI was only led to believe it would be her dog and pugs visitingIf I had known she would have been watching dogs there is no way I would have agreed to her watching my dogsThey are tiny, nervous chihuahuas who are afraid of new dogsI was also assured that my dogs would be kept seperated from other animals when not supervised, which they were notLittle Henry only weighs pounds
I was also made aware that my dogs were kept crated at night, which they have never been in their entire lives which aided in Henry's high stressI made myself very clear that they were to never be crated which Cynthia told me would not be an issue
Cynthia never got Henry medical attention during his stay for this injuryIt is so deep and punctured his skin so I know there was a lot of blood involved I had to find out about his injury on my own
I will take this matter further but I absolutely would never use her again or recommend herShe had a legal obligation to get my poor puppy the medical attention he needed and she should have told me about itShe also should never have put my pound puppy with aggressive large dogs and leave him alone with them defenselessShe lied about how many dogs she was watching and now my dog is traumatized
This sitter let my dog suffer for an entire week, did not give him the medical attention he needed, and then left me to pay for the $vet billI want to be reimbursed, this has been an absolute nightmare
Cynthia by no means should be looking after small dogsShe left my tiny chihuahua defenseless with bigger dogs and more dogs than she was allowedMy dog got injured (large bite) and this sitter tried to hide it and did not get my dog the medical attention he neededMy vet bill is $And she should pay because of her gross negligenceShe refusesThis whole experience was a nightmare

I was a pet sitter for Rover for about 6-months and absolutely loved it! I had great experiences will every sit and received numerous 5-star reviews and many repeat customers And then I got the dog with severe behavior issues and I was ultimately blamed and banned from sitting via Rover without an exact explanation why Let me explain:
About the dog:
-the dog hides under the couch and I would have to physically lift up the couch to get the dog ready for a walk
-the dog would snap and try to bite if you touched him, so I had to corral the dog into his kennel and leash him through the bars of his kennel
-the dog was not leash trained and would pull so hard on the leash he would choke himself
-the owners did not have a harness apparatus for this dog
-the dog was not responsive to his name or commands nor was he treat motivated
After the 45-minutes it took me to actually get the leash on the dog, we went for a walk, he immediately started fighting the leash and trying to pull/run off He pulled just hard enough that his head slipped through his collar (as I have mentioned, the owners should have had him in a harness) Due to his antisocial behavior, he immediately ran off and anytime I tried to get close to him, he would try to bite and run off again After about an hour of trying to catch the dog with a neighbor and two employees of a neighboring business I called the owner Expecting the owner to be upset, she seemed very nonchalant about the whole issue The owner told me "oh, he does this" What?!? Naturally, I was fuming, as no one (the owner or Rover) had even bothered to warn me that the dog has a history of escaping from previous pet sitters and will not respond to commands or is treat motivated I felt like I was set up for failure The owner and I continued to search for the next several hours until nightfall I went through a creek, brier bushes, crossed freeways, I really wanted to find this dog and felt so bad about it, I refunded their money for the entire three-day stay When I got home, I reported the incident to Rover I didn't have to, but I thought that they should be aware that an anti-social dog was being advertised via their platform and that this dog's needs are not appropriate for an app Well, this ended up backfiring on meThe dog was eventually found the next day, but then I received word from Rover that my account would be closed and I am not longer welcome to use their platform without any specific reasons why or what their investigation policy was for incidents such as these
To sum up, an anti-social, aggressive and ill-trained animal with a repeated history of running away does exactly that, and I am who got the short end of the stick It didn't matter that I had loyal repeat customers and stellar reviews for six months I was unfortunately placed with a dog with severe behavior issues and did everything in my power to rectify the situation, and I did not receive any support from Rover and was ultimately blamed for the entire situationMeanwhile, this owner can continue to use this site and place this dog with the next sitter knowing full well that it will happen again
I have since reported the animal to the local animal control services because I do believe this animal is a danger to itself and to pet sitters and it will no doubt happen again And next time, someone is going to actually get physically hurt The most upsetting thing to me is that Rover and the owner are fully aware of this dog's behavior and they are turning a blind eye and not warning sitters And this is just negligence

NEVER USE THEM!!!! UNRELIABLE AND BILL FOR SERVICES NEVER RECEIVED!!!!!!!!!!!!
We used the Rover app when going out of town for the weekendWe have dogs, and three ducksIt was made clear to the sitter that the ducks had to be locked in their pen by dark due to predators(coyotes, raccoons, etc) and the dogs ate around 6:00PM We left town and that night tried to check in with the sitter to make sure she was able to get into the house okay, at around 9:00PM since we still had not heard from her we sent over a family friend to see if the animals had been taken care ofThe ducks were still out and the dogs had not been fed or let outThankfully they were okayAt this time we decided to cancel the Rover sitter since they were not doing as instructedEven though we cancelled due to lack of service and putting our animals in danger, Rover still billed us for half of the amount and refused to refund usThis was our first and will be our ONLY experience with RoverDO NOT USE THIS APP UNLESS YOU ARE OKAY WITH PAYING SOMEONE WHO DOES NOT SHOW UP TO WATCH YOUR ANIMALS

Hi ***,
As pet parents ourselves, we’re deeply saddened by ***’s passing and can’t imagine the pain you must be going throughUnfortunately our insurance provider wasn’t able to assist further on your claim because ***’s illness was due to circumstances prior to the stayWe
truly apologize for any added frustration and hope you can find peace
All the best,
Courtney

BEWARE! DO NOT USE this company! When the stuff hits the fan, you are on your own I hired one of their cat sitters for a 2-week visit while I went on vacationAs soon as I got back cat was vomiting and clearly sickI had to bring the cat to her regular doctor and subsequently to a hour emergency hospital because it was the weekendTotal cost to me : almost $2,I complained to Rover.com that according to all the doctors who saw my cat, the cause of the severe kidney infection, 7% dehydration, and hypovolemic shock was that the cat had been eating RANCID food for a PROLONGED period of timeRover.com denied the claim EVEN after I sent all the medical records and a strongly worded letter from my cat's vet regarding her condition They just would NOT accept responsibility for hiring an incompetent and irresponsible cat sitter who most likely did not show up for the visits except at the beginning and at the end when I was about to return Unless you have thousands of dollars to spare or don't care if your pet gets sick, DO NOT USE this company Otherwise you will have the same experience as I had Completely UNTRUSWORTHY!!!

Hi ***, We’re so sorry to hear about the stress this has caused you and your familyDog safety is always our top priority, and we take complaints about a sitter whose services are listed on Rover very seriouslyAs you know, our Trust & Safety team has been investigating the situation and
will continue working with you to learn moreUnfortunately the insurance offered with Rover stays doesn’t cover pre-existing illnesses that are unrelated to the stayIf you have any questions at all, don’t hesitate to follow up directly with our Trust & Safety team
All the best,
Courtney
