Adt has the worst customer service I have ever experienced and by far its the biggest mistake you can make in looking for home security

I had ADT as a security service and later moved because of work. When I called to cancel, they hit me with a large cancellation charge. The customer service representative was not helpful in resolving my complaint and said there was no clause to cancel the contract other than passing away. Needless to say, ADT did not act in the best interest of their customer and they have now lost a future customer as well.

don't ever get ADT for an alarm system!!!!!!! terrible from the start!
first when they sent a sales rep. to my house, we went through all the options of what I could get and there is an already existing system in the house..... wasn't sure how old or if any of it worked but I told I wanted to know the exact amount to cover every door and window.....
the offer they show on tv is 2 or 3 window devices n 1 door.. which is fine for apartments...
but its ridiculous to me to not cover every door n window instead of playing lottery with a burglar, I mean what if the thief picked a window with no security ..... anyways

I told the sales rep " don't have them come here and install all of this and they say after there done .... oh it seems here u owes an extra 200, 300,400 dollars...... of course he assured me that it wouldn't happen....

second... install comes next .... long story short they install it n tell me I owe them more money, 300 dollars more and tell me they weren't done and had to come back another day and I had to schedule it....... I ended up compromising and paying a 100.00 more then the original quote and they finished..

third.... the alarm goes off (malfunction).... I'm mostly by myself with my 2yr. because my husband works out of town so when I heard that alarm go off at 3 a.m. I jumped up looked at my phone for about 5 sec. and " I called 911!!!" not adt..... there response time is 45-60 seconds ...... I want u to sit there and count to 45 and imagine ur alarm is going off.... trust me its to long! they were a few other malfunctioned alarm situations that happened ...

fourth.... I finally got them to send someone out to check my system.... by this time I'm in such distress I couldn't even sleep at my own house by myself anymore because how much anxiety this alarm company gave me.. and they don't care ...... the gentleman I had this time was absolutely wonderful..... he went through everything and fixed the issues and then he came and told me what was wrong..... u ready for this.....

they installed it wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they set my two motion sensors in the house as doors!!! they did not replace or use any up to date wiring in the attic! the guy who fixed said " I'm really surprised this system wasn't going off constantly "....... as u could imagine I was very upset and [redacted] ... I just kept thinking about the fact that if they would've done there job I wouldn't be taking medication just to be n stay in my own house!

after hearing that I just had enough and wanted to cancel my service...
fifth... I called they said I and a 3 year contract and said no without having to pay out the remaining months on the contract.... point blank I had no idea I was in a contract , sales person never mentioned anything about a contract and didn't have the money to give all at
once .......
the sales person did not mention a lot of things ....

please do ur research in finding a security system for ur home...... art has a lot of business due to the fact they are able to advertise then some other companies but I assure that art is not the best .....
when ur deciding and comparing ask em what there response is.... if ur in a contract .... is it self install.... and many others.... I've talked a lot of friends and family out of getting ADT and I would also do the same for you!

I recently moved and had ADT. They scheduled me an appt to relocate my service in the same city. Once the tech got there he said it would cost me $1500 dollars to install the alarm at my new house. He said he wasnt with corporate ADT but was sent my info because he's a sub contractor for ADT. He could not install me for what ADT had promised me of $99 for my move. I got furious ! I told him to get out. I called ADT to try to reslove and they said they didn't cover my area anymore and the subcontrator for ADT has that area. They could do nothing for me and I would have to pay the $1500 . Mind you I have a contract with ADT and they won't let me out and want to charge my $650 for trying to break my contract. They don't service my area and now they want to charge me $1500 for a new install. Ive been with them for almost 15 yrs at two other places. They are ripping people off and the sub contractors are scaming the customers.

Hi I recently got ADT home Security installed and Im very disappointed in the rates they charge when they instal they tell you one thing and then when you get your bill its a whole other. I contacted ADT wanting to cancel my service beacuse I cant afford the hogh monthly payment and they informed me that I would have to pay the balance of the 3 year contract to get out. Which if the my math is right is about $1800.00 which I wouldnt be able to afford. They said that I had 3 days after instal to cancel and because I didnt cancel then the balance of the contract was due. My intention when I called was to cancel because I cant afford $52.00 a month but instead of giving me options ADT just told me I was in the contract and the balance would be due. If I were to do this all over agian I would have never chose ADT. They are a monopoly unfortunately and the other options for security systems a slime and they know that. Thats how they get you.

For the past two years we have been unhappy with our system and became even more concerned when our original agreement with Reliance was moved to ADT. For the past two + years we have been paying for cameras that have not been working and even after we complained we never had any action only no shows from Reliance. Then we find out ADT has taken over the company and we continue to pay for a service that we did not receive however I have been at home during this time so I became complainant until it became closer to me finding employment and the house being vacant again. Now comes the issues! Since contacting ADT I have had two techs come to the house and after the first tech affixed and spent over three hours in my home the only solution he had was that we need to UPGRADE OUR SYTEM at a cost of $200. plus. He couldn't get the cameras to work (surprise that is why I called). I had the service manager call me and not only elude that I was a full of it and never complained in the first place, and then it was determined that he didn't have access to the previous ownership (WHAT?) and took a different path and told me that it was to bad and that if I wanted my cameras to work I would have to pay the extra fee to get a camera that would work bacause my wi fi is not recognized by ADT. We use Netgear which is one the the most popular and effective. I followed up with head office and was treated like, well, you know. At one point I was on hold for 38 minutes before I hung up and called back. Long story short I had to call back four times to get any resolution. They agreed to send out a tech to install a PAW system in order to get the cameras to work. I waited and other couple of weeks to have a senior tech come out and figure out how to get the cameras to work over the Netgear however needed to upgrade the cameras. Well it has been over a week and we only have one camera working and the video still doesn't work. I just want out of this contract because I am tired of being treated like garbage and not getting any resolution.

Been with ADT for four years and then transferred when we moved. We thought our policy just continued but no after one year we cancelled and wow had $654.73 removed from our bank account.
How can this happen? I guess we were too trusting when we signed as we definitely did not think we were back on a three year contract. Beware!!!

On the second week of October 2015 I requested information and quote for the ADT service (Audio and Video) via the ADT website but no response. I called ADT security at the end of October 2015 and finally got through and there seemed to be some confussion as to what I wanted, but finally got an appointment to get the services installed (13 Nov 2015). Once the installer came to the house - he didn't have all the required equipment and had to reschedule, but installed what he had. The second scheduled install date (5 Dec 2015) was cancelled, but they never notified me until I called them to find out where the installer was - they said the installer won't be coming because its his day off. Another reschedule is set for 11 Dec 2015. I think that ADT should provide some discounts or a free camera for the inconviences I have had to endure. I will only be keeping the service as long as the contract is for then canceling immediately.

ADT has been calling me from multiple numbers multiple times a day for an upgrade.I told them to please stop the calls; I am in and out of town and will get it done as I can.

I got a text message from a representative on 12/28 telling me my service would stop on 12/31 without the upgrade. I could not have it installed in that time period and I was just walking in the door that day, and already frustrated with them. I said, well, I guess it stops working, then? The representative rudely replied telling me to call and cancel if I did not want the alarm.

They apparently showed up at my door unannounced on 12/30 anyway. I complained on the company Facebook page about these matters, and the company responded by deleting my post and blocking me from the page. Now, I was not rude, not profane or even belligerent in any way. I noticed some other posts from upset customers I'd seen previously missing too.

What kind of company treats its customers in this manner? I have never seen such crassness and cowardice and unprofessionalism in my life. Thankfully, I am not under contract. I have ordered service from a new company.

I am done with ADT and I will never recommend them to anyone. I will steer anyone else I know looking into a home security company away from them.

The lack of professionalism they have displayed in their dealings with me defies belief.I have never been treated in this manner by any company, and I'm certainly not going to tolerate it any further.

Now, after I took my business elsewhere, ADT now is calling asking me to come back.

Firstly, ADT, had you addressed my concerns in the first place, maybe I would not have moved my business to another company.

Secondly, the issues I brought to your attention remain as they were. Completely unacceptable.

Thirdly, I just saw a video where you have lawsuits against you because of your pitiful response time. You've become a fat, lazy, complacent company.

It's only a matter of time before your competitors put you out of business.Considering my experience with you, you deserve it.

My father was visiting from out of town. His alarm went off at 3am. ADT called him and stated they would contact the local county sheriff's dept to check out the place. The representative stated they will call him back and let him know if everything is alright. I thought that was what the commercial said "Peace of Mind." Three hours later, no call no confirmation if there was a problem. Finally my dad called, representative told him if he doesn't get a call back, all is good. He wanted the phone number for the sheriff's department because he felt like no one calling him back is a bad sign. They refused to give him the phone number for the local county sheriff's department. Had he received a call stating the police went out and found nothing, he would have been fine. He asked to speak to a manager just to explain if the alarm goes off, he expects a call with a status good or bad. The manager started interrupting him talking over him and stated that if they don't call back then nothing happened. I got on the phone and stated I was his daughter she started talking loudly over me. I told her to let me just say one sentence. She kept talking and not listening to my statement. I finally told her to pass [redacted] word to upper management that it would have been nice to get a good confirmation. Just like when they get their check for services, they want to make sure the money is cleared. We expect the same respect and courtesy. I looked up the phone number for the county sheriff and hey were able to confirm they checked out the place and there was no disturbance. Which ended well, but we had to confirm that ourselves. ADT didn't seem to care we just needed to know after three hours.

So I had this company install not only an alarm but cameras. I have had the system a little over a year and I recently discovered it was not setup correctly as per my requirements. There was alteration assoiated with my work at my home and it turns out none of it was recorded due to the settings not being set up correctly. The system was purchased and set up for one reason and that was to verify such problems. Now I am being transferred to another area and I wanted to utilize the system that is in the rental home and they told me I have to commit to a 3 year contract. This is ridiculous as it is a rental home through my work and there is no way I can commit to this. As well after all this they are trying to hold me to the contract at the house I'm selling which I was specifically told when I signed papers that this would void the contract. So far nothing these people have told me has panned out and it seems as though it is all fluff and no commitment from them....oh well ADT you lost my business! I am sure if there was a bit more fore sight into having good relations with your clients I probably would have had your service installed in any future homes I own. My grandfather once said "you can always rebuild your company but you cant rebuild your reputation"! The fact that there was no reasonable services for my needs and the gouging of contracts and funds shows clients are not important today or in the future...when the contract is up for my current home our relationship will be terminated...you lost a client today!

I had Adt put a pulse system in my home in October 2015. I had some extra's added with the basic package ,a second motion detector window contacts etc. Have had no problems till I decided to add video surveillance cameras. I contacted the sales department inquiring the cost and monthly monitoring fees. The representative quoted me 488.00 to have the camera's installed and that my bill would increase 10.00 dollars which I agreed to. I set up a appointment to have the technician install. I could not have been happier being that I can look at the cameras remotely since this is a second home and not my primary residence. When the tech left I signed a document with the breakdown of what he had done well it wasnt. WARNING after I signed thinking it was just adding cameras that I paid for it I signed a 3 Year contract. My problem is when I called to inquire and ordered the camera's the representative never brought to my attention that I would have to sign a new contract.I spoke with Adt about this matter they pulled the phone records and once again the representative never mentioned a new contractand Now after endless phone calls they refuse to do anything but get me 2 months monitoring. If I had have known that I was signing a new contract I would have had they put me a complete new system with camera's at half the price.

ADT is a fraud and I can't wait to get out of my contract.
Reason 1: I was con by an ADT phone representative to have an ADT expert coming over to my house and activate my exixting Alarm system, and when their expert got to my house he led me to believe that my alarm system was not compatible with their new system. Which after all was an ADT system Model issued by ADT.
Reason 2: The new sytem hewanted to sell to me was about $6,000.00 worth and since I couldn't afford it, I 've had to resigned myself to a lesser system with less product than my original one.
Reason 3: They gave me 3 days to cancel the contract and when I call them I got the wrong fax number and even with all that when I fax the contract to them one of their customer representative told me that I have send it to a wrong fax number meaning that they have give me another one wich also was wrong, so now I have to keep paying for 3 more years.
I really Hope that District attorney here in TN can take a closer look at their activity.

My husband has had service with ADT for approximately 9 years. We cancelled our service recently because we were moving. Not the only reason, but the reason it finally happened. Upon calling to cancel on 12/27 I was told that it takes 30 days for the cancellation to go through, and that we have a $400 credit to our account to receive a new "out of the box" system and installation. I figured that's fine surely they wont charge us for a service they did not provide because I told them we would be out of the house long before the 30 days were up, well they did. I looked on my account and they had taken their usual payment out. I called and asked what dates that I was being billed for and I was told the 1-31 of January at which point we had not been living in the house. I thought if I just explained that there first of all was no way I would have been able to give a 30 day notice (because our closing was moved up), and 2nd one wouldn't think a 30 day notice wasn't necessary being that most home services do not require such notice , and 3rd after 9 years of being a excellent customer one probably wouldn't remember that little tid bit, but no. They did however, tell me I would be receiving an $8 credit for the service fee. WHAT? That is a slap in the face. SO they totally acknowledged that I cancelled before I moved and they did not provide any service, but they still are going to charge me for an entire month? Not even pro-rated from the time I called and canceled to the 30 day mark. To me that is just bad business. To be with a company for almost a decade and they charge for services cancelled before the billing period is ridiculous. It's a technicality to need a 30 day notice, but that's not the customer's problem that it takes so long to process it's the inefficiency of the company. It's not like they have to have someone drive out and pull a plug or unhook equipment it's because they have an inefficient system. Oh, and as for that $400 credit...it's totally a scam to get you back under contract. We never had a major problem with ADT because we never called them about problems, just fix them ourselves, which luckily, we were able to do. We will not be going back with ADT for our new house. I HIGHLY recommend buying and installing your own system and getting someone local or cheaper to do the monitoring. All you can expect from ADT is increasing rates for the same mediocre service, poor business ethics, and poor customer service.

Poor customer service.

When calling to cancel they said I had an extra year on my contract. Spoke with multiple reps and they all treated me like a liar. Faxed over my signed contract to cancel.

The customer service is horrible and disrespectful. If they have managers they can never find one and I have now been waiting 5 days and counting for one to call me back that was suppose to call me back in 24-48 hours. I have never heard of such a thing especially when they take money they are not authorized to take from my account as a new customer and then tell me they are only going to give me 50% of it back and that could take up to 15 days. What the [redacted] kind of program are they running. Not only am I making this complaint here in the open but I will also be filing one with the many others who have filed with the Revdex.com. I called 3 times in 20 mins and was hung up on by one agent, transferred to another company when I requested a manager and as previously stated still waiting for a manager to call back. The corporate office doesn't answer their phone so that they do not have to take any responsibility. Absolutely poor business ethics and customer service!!!!!!!!

I live in Calgary and have had shouting matches with your customer calls -usually at 7:00 AM on Saturday and Sunday mornings calling about a service problem at our cottage in Manitoba. 2 hrs different from the Montreal call centre. Firstly they know nothing about the word cottage home -lake front home and summer home. - Hove no clue where Manitoba is and where Calgary Alberta is - The problem concerning my making a call to a service representative from Manitoba meeting me at the Cottage when I travel back to our Lake Home. If you see the call log you see that I have been transferred to the Tech support 8 times and placed on hold for 25 to 30 minutes as the time I sat on hold and waiting for a technician - was too long and tied up my home line too long. Your company lost our Home account Calgary Ab when we moved and no one answered my request for a quote and install to our new Home. This lack of customer service issue at Cottage is too much to handle - Do you follow up on your calls to customers ??? I am not happy and will spend time seeking out another provider.
Intrusion alarms - at a cottage also have low heat -high heat monitors.- Electricity monitors and fire monitors. Want to add cameras to my internet and view cottage from out home in Calgary - So your company is only part of our secure lake home - as we pay for telephone lines- internet - and electricity -Motion alarms and check with the Police every year in person to make sure we/they have identify associated to an alarm. It is more complicated than your perception of what I need. Your equipment then is subject to weather fluctuations - then we will get someone who answers your 7:00 am Montreal calls from Montreal as out west has no concept of vastness of a malfunction of your equipment. Trying to call 8 times in a week is not what I paid for. Two postal codes Calgary [redacted] Manitoba [redacted]

I have been a loyal customer with ADT for the last 10 years. I have also paid additional charges for any maintenance which might be needed to maintain my alarm system. I have scheduled numerous service calls with ADT over the last 6 months. I have been trying to get ADT to clean up the rats nest of wires which exist in my attic as well as the different outdated equipment they have installed in my house. I am currently on the phone with their customer service representative for over 55 minutes trying to schedule a follow up appointment with a technician.

TODAY IS THE 3RD TIME ADT HAS BLOWN US OFF FOR UPGRADES AND WE ARE NOT IMPRESSED - BIG TIME.

WE HAVE 2 ADT SYSTEMS.

OTHER INSTANCES INLCUDE REPLACING A DEFEAT EXPANDER BATTERY AT OUR FARM WHICH WE HAVE BEEN TRYING TO SCHEDULE 2 TIMES NOW FOR THE LAST 6+ WEEKS.

TODAY THEY CALLED AT 4PM FOR 12-5PM APPOINTMENT TO TELL US THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART NEEDED. UNBELIEVABLE WASTE OF A DAY.

WE ARE BEYOND DISATISFIED.
ALL WE WANTED WAS TI UPDATE OUR SYSTEM AND THAT BATTERY REPLACEMENT.

DALLAS TX.

I have tried to get help from customer service for the last five-six weeks, all I got has been unfulfilled promises of services.
They have sent me to my account representative, to a tech, to customer service and so on. As a customer, this is very frustrating.
