On December 26, 2017, *** forwarded the subject account, *** account #: *** Afni, Incaccount #: *** with Afni for collections on the balance of $The account is for satellite services which *** considered the account delinquent on September 9, 2015. The billing and service address associated with the account is *** *** *** *** ***, Atlanta, GA 30331, which is the same address the consumer listed on the complaint. Afni attempted to mail the initial notice of the account to the consumer on or about December 30, 2017, to *** *** *** *** *** 1, Atlanta, GA 30331. Afni received notice that the address was incorrect and did not receive an updated address until January 20, That same day, an Afni representative called the consumer to discuss the accountThe Afni representative was able to confirm that he was speaking with the consumer; however, the call disconnected just after verifying the account. Afni mailed a statement letter on the account on or about January 21st, to the above address which was also returned. On February 25, 2018, Afni furnished the credit reporting agencies with notice of the account. Afni responded to the consumer’s duplicate complaint filed through the Revdex.com on March 6, On March 7, 2018, Afni received this rejection. In response, Afni ceased communication and initiated another investigationAfni has attached copies of the account billing statements previously sent to the consumer to this response; these are provided as validation of the account. To address the consumer’s concern again, Afni did mail the consumer an initial notice to the consumer and attempted to verify the consumer’s address during the phone call that took place on January 20thPer the consumer’s rejection response, he stated he requested information mailed to him and then terminated the call with the Afni representative before his address could be confirmed; however, Afni mailed all information to the correct address. Afni has no control over the mail but has sent all notices within the necessary time period and has followed all legal channels throughout our handling of this account. As clearly stated on the original response, Afni will send a request to the credit reporting agencies to remove the account from the consumer’s credit report. Please be aware that it can take the credit reporting agencies up to days to update consumer credit reports. Afni has no control over how quickly the credit reporting agencies update consumer credit reports. However, this does not mean that the account is not due and owing, simply that Afni will no longer furnish the account to the credit reporting agencies. On February 7, 2016, Afni furnished the credit reporting agencies with notice of the account. On March 22nd, the consumer called an Afni representative to discuss the settlement offer she received and requested that Afni send her a letter stating the account had been settled in full prior to the consumer making a payment; however, the call became disconnected. Later that same day, the consumer called Afni back and made a credit card payment in the amount of $to settle the account in full at 50% of the balance placed with Afni. Additionally that same day, Afni mailed a verification letter of the account to the consumer. On March 27th, Afni updated the credit reporting agencies on the updated balance on the account. On March 29th and March 30th, Afni mailed the consumer a settled in full receipt. On March 29th, *** requested Afni to cease collections and return the account. On April 4th, the consumer called an Afni representative to inquire why her credit report was still showing a balance. The Afni representative explained that Afni has no control over how quickly the credit reporting agencies update consumer credit reports. On April 17th, Afni updated the credit reporting agencies on the settled in full status of the accountBetween April 18, 2016, and October 16, 2017, Afni received numerous disputes from the credit reporting agencies, reviewed all relevant information, and responded appropriately. On May 1, 2016, Afni updated the credit reporting agencies on the disputed status of the account. On September 26, 2017, Afni received a letter from the consumer disputing the account. In response, Afni ceased communication and initiated an investigationOn October 30, 2017, Afni received this complaint/rejection. In response, Afni ceased communication and initiated another investigation. To address the consumer’s concern, in the course of business, Afni reported that we have received settlement in full of the account, and have reported a $balance. This reflects the accurate status of this account at that timeAfni continued to update the credit reporting agencies as disputed, as the consumer continued to send in disputes via correspondence and the credit reporting agencies. On October 29, 2017, Afni sent a request to the credit reporting agencies to remove the account from the consumer’s credit report. Afni received notice that the address was incorrect and did not receive an updated address until January 20, That same day, an Afni representative called the consumer to discuss the accountThe Afni representative was able to confirm that he was speaking with the consumer; however, the call disconnected just after verifying the accountAfni mailed a statement letter on the account on or about January 21st, to the above address which was also returned. On February 25, 2018, Afni furnished the credit reporting agencies with notice of the accountOn March 6, 2018, Afni received this complaint.
