We are in the process of moving and I had used Nextdoor previously I wanted to see if it covered our new location, so I input the address we're under contract with I saw that it was covered and read the print that said to move forward through the app I needed to confirm I lived at the address I do not yet (expect to close next month), so I backed out Then I found out yesterday that Nextdoor used my information and sent a postcard with my information to the address (which is NOT my address and which is why I did NOT submit the request) We are under contract and I think the current owners could find this all a bit presumptuous and annoy them - potentially affecting the ultimate deal More so, I think it's a breach of privacy for Nextdoor to use my information when I did NOT complete the form (their email to me noted I had NOT completed the form)And of course they sent an email from an account that is not monitored so I couldn't quickly contact them I don't trust any of may data to this business
I have found that a moderator has been purposely keeping my account blocked because he does not believe in my political views *** *** in the *** *** *** has been lying and saying I don't live in the area And has said there are personal attacks Even though Mr*** sits on a public Chair for the *** ** *** Hes trying to hide the fact that 236K was spent illegally by the city And that they want to increase the head tax and take the ability away from the City Council to make the decisions Everything I have posted is Percent Factual and is not a personal attack as he stated My account is not restricted and was supposed to be opened up by today and it is still dead
Horrible, horrible experience I've asked they remove our information (my wife's and mine) and confirm, and they never responded Nextdoor has divided our neighborhood that we have lived in for over years My wife and I have never had a problem with our neighbors We've worked together to keep our neighborhood safe and preserve its charm Since nexdoor, our community seems to be in constant turmoil The issues that need to be addressed are morphed by the constant antagonistic, twisted information and accusations made by a select few that get to stay on the site as they learn to maneuver the famous guidelines and provide nextdoor with new invites They read your private messages as well, I am testament to that factThey collect as much information as possible and build their database, yet when asked to remove and confirm, they do notThey remove your post without notice and block you without notice Leads are your neighbors that are not trained or qualified to monitor the posts, and nextdoor 'help' is just as unqualified to resolve conflicts or disputesSome of what they do borders being illegalThey violate your First Amendment and run the site as a dictatorshipI would say, STAY AWAY from nextdoor!
I want to share a negative experienceMy account was blocked since I had same first and last nameMy name has same first letters for both first and last namesI got an email asking me to submit my DL, which I refused to since ND is not a Government authorityI did not violate any rules or post anything illegal or used profanityI told them that they could verify my identity by emailing my neighbor and I received no responseND sucksI was waiting for reply for summer carpool and I was blocked based on anonymous complaint

Many members have / are being harassed, mainly by the so called "Leads" of each neighborhood, as well as being locked out of thier accountsMembers will simply share their good experiences with contractors, etc, and be deletedThere is no consistency, and it is very apparent that these same "Leads" allow endorsements from contractors / individuals who are giving them referral money, (in fact, it was admitted by a lead in the "British Commons" neighborhood, in San Antonio, Texas
Another individuals post was deleted and he was "warned" for sharing a very short, had possitive biblical verse for the day
Again, HORRIBLE app, HORRIBLE people mismanaging, and HORRIBLE experiences

My ability to post messages was recently suspended because my lead said that they had received too many complaints of me posting about the same thing but Nextdoor has both a "mute" and a "hide posts" feature so I'm not sure how that is a valid complaint for suspending someone's ability to post messages Also, they wrote that they would restore my privileges if I would agree to abide by the rules, so I wrote them back and said I would, but have received no reply as of yet It seems strange to be able to suspend someone's ability to post messages without telling them for how long I asked them how they would know that I had "learned my lesson" Perhaps they shouldn't make the people in the neighborhood the "leads" as it would seem that they could do what they wanted for their own reasons and be able to get away with it This is my suspicion of what is happening to me

Seems to be a platform for cyber bullying and harrassmentI have been an active member of my community for yearsA group of women were pulling a scam for free Christmas presents and when I politely directed them to some charitable organizations throughout the valley that could provide the assistance they were seeking, the group began flagging all my postsI was removed from the site, then reinstated, but the group of women continued to follow me throughout the site making remarks under anything I posted about how I think I am too good for people and just rude and unkind remarksI asked them several times to stop harassing meI even private messaged asking, which they responded back by calling me curse wordsWhen I asked them on a thread to please stick to the topic instead of harass me, I was removed for itNextdoor said I violated their terms by asking these women to stop harassing me, although I didn't engage in any arguments or name callingThe initially said I was banned for weeks, but it has been months and they refuse to let me on the siteThey keep saying I need to follow the guidelines, which I have responded that I thought I was and could they clarify what they mean- but they will not respond nor reinstate meSince the bullying of the group of women my home has been targeted by vandals, my tires have been slashed and Nextdoor will not even provide their names so that I can have the police investigateIt's a terrible company

Anyone who is contemplating becoming a member of Nextdoor, do so at your own peril as I found out to my shock recently when out of the blue, my account was de-activated without notice and for no apparent reasonUpon inquiry, I was told that I had violated their Community Guidelines because I had a dispute with one of the Leads and “publicly shamed” her by disagreeing with her in her claim that she had “immediately” edited her taunting and berating comments directed to me on a postMy approximately one year membership on Nextdoor has been one of the worst and traumatic experiences in my life The first red flag went up when upon returning from a vacation last fall, I found to my shock that our house was listed for sale on Nextdoor by some unknown Realtor Sponsor of the Nextdoor siteWhen I posed a simple and polite question to the Realtor through the comments page that was provided as to why he had listed the house, I got an email message from Nextdoor that I had “publicly shamed” the Realtor by asking that questionThe Nextdoor staff’s exact words were: “I understand it can be frustrating when you see your home for sale in a real estate listing when it isn’t for saleHowever, Nextdoor is not a place to publicly shame neighbors or businesses.” To add insult to injury, one of the neighbors made this comment: “ … maybe you should take your house being listed as a sign from whatever higher power you choose to worship that it is time to move.” Ultimately, the way the house listing was removed from the Nextdoor feed was because the Realtor who sold us the house took action and sent a warning letter to Nextdoor to immediately remove the listing, or they would be dealing with his attorneyBefore the current incident with the Lead, there were numerous occasions this past year when I had felt frustrated being on the Nextdoor site and having to endure nasty comments from some neighbors whose sole purpose is to shut down any dissentIn other words, they can say what they want, but if you disagree, they berate and humiliate you publicly through the main feed and through your private message board (PM), and when Nextdoor support is contacted for help, they take days to respond as in the case of a neighbor couple who harassed and bullied me through my PM board recently with disparaging remarks and even asking me to come “face to face” with them, language generally used by bulliesWhen I contacted Nextdoor for help, after two days of silence, I finally got a response from Nextdoor support asking me to go back and engage these bully neighbors and ask them to stop sending me messagesCommon sense dictates that engaging the bully neighbors would mean them lashing back at me againIn essence, Nextdoor wanted me to fend for myself and deal with these difficult neighbors on my ownThe other troubling issue with Nextdoor is the omnipotent powers bestowed on neighbors called “Leads” to make decisions on whose comment can be deleted and whose cannot on a post, no doubt, based on their own biases against, or for a neighborThese “Leads” are no more than other neighbors who are given that title purely based on the number of neighbors they have canvassed to join Nextdoor which is just a minimum number of ten neighborsNextdoor does not conduct background checks on these Leads nor supervise them, and for all intents and purposes they could be criminals and/or have criminal backgroundsIn sum, my experience on Nextdoor has been akin to living in a commune and/or a country under a dictatorship with your freedom of speech stifled, and with the so called Lead neighbors left to their own devices to make decisions for their neighbors without any oversight from Nextdoor managementIf I were to advise another neighbor contemplating joining Nextdoor, I would tell them to stay away from the site and their app if they value their sanity and peace of mindFor me it has not been a pleasant experience to say the least, and I have asked Nextdoor to delete my account so that I can get on with my life and not have to deal with the day in and day out nastiness and drama on the siteGood luck to all who decide to venture into that what I would call a lion’s den hoping to come out unscathed!

Anyone who is contemplating becoming a member of Nextdoor, do so at your own peril as I found out to my shock recently when out of the blue, my account was de-activated without notice and for no apparent reasonUpon inquiry, I was told that I had violated their Community Guidelines because I had a dispute with one of the Leads and “publicly shamed” her by disagreeing with her in her claim that she had “immediately” edited her taunting and berating comments directed to me on a postMy approximately one year membership on Nextdoor has been one of the worst and traumatic experiences in my life The first red flag went up when upon returning from a vacation last fall, I found to my shock that our house was listed for sale on Nextdoor by some unknown Realtor Sponsor of the Nextdoor siteWhen I posed a simple and polite question to the Realtor through the comments page that was provided as to why he had listed the house, I got an email message from Nextdoor that I had “publicly shamed” the Realtor by asking that questionThe Nextdoor staff’s exact words were: “I understand it can be frustrating when you see your home for sale in a real estate listing when it isn’t for saleHowever, Nextdoor is not a place to publicly shame neighbors or businesses.” To add insult to injury, one of the neighbors made this comment: “ … maybe you should take your house being listed as a sign from whatever higher power you choose to worship that it is time to move.” Ultimately, the way the house listing was removed from the Nextdoor feed was because the Realtor who sold us the house took action and sent a warning letter to Nextdoor to immediately remove the listing, or they would be dealing with his attorneyBefore the current incident with the Lead, there were numerous occasions this past year when I had felt frustrated being on the Nextdoor site and having to endure nasty comments from some neighbors whose sole purpose is to shut down any dissentIn other words, they can say what they want, but if you disagree, they berate and humiliate you publicly through the main feed and through your private message board (PM), and when Nextdoor support is contacted for help, they take days to respond as in the case of a neighbor couple who harassed and bullied me through my PM board recently with disparaging remarks and even asking me to come “face to face” with them, language generally used by bulliesWhen I contacted Nextdoor for help, after two days of silence, I finally got a response from Nextdoor support asking me to go back and engage these bully neighbors and ask them to stop sending me messagesCommon sense dictates that engaging the bully neighbors would mean them lashing back at me againIn essence, Nextdoor wanted me to fend for myself and deal with these difficult neighbors on my ownThe other troubling issue with Nextdoor is the omnipotent powers bestowed on neighbors called “Leads” to make decisions on whose comment can be deleted and whose cannot on a post, no doubt, based on their own biases against, or for a neighborThese “Leads” are no more than other neighbors who are given that title purely based on the number of neighbors they have canvassed to join Nextdoor which is just a minimum number of ten neighborsNextdoor does not conduct background checks on these Leads nor supervise them, and for all intents and purposes they could be criminals and/or have criminal backgroundsIn sum, my experience on Nextdoor has been akin to living in a commune and/or a country under a dictatorship with your freedom of speech stifled, and with the so called Lead neighbors left to their own devices to make decisions for their neighbors without any oversight from Nextdoor managementIf I were to advise another neighbor contemplating joining Nextdoor, I would tell them to stay away from the site and their app if they value their sanity and peace of mindFor me it has not been a pleasant experience to say the least, and I have asked Nextdoor to delete my account so that I can get on with my life and not have to deal with the day in and day out nastiness and drama on the siteGood luck to all who decide to venture into that what I would call a lion’s den hoping to come out unscathed!
I was an active member of my local NextDoor in *** -- one strand was regarding a march being held in ** in January One woman wrote that she "hoped she would not get beat up by wearing a MAGA hat"I responded that NextDoor was not an appropriate venue for such a discussion and that I hoped she would reconsider posting things like thatI got suspended (I found out several months later)I also got accused on using a name because I used just my married name and my email account is an account I had before I was married But easy enough to put both names together, hit google and come up with -- meEvidently, these random suspensions have happened in the past --
It's a shame It's a useful resource whose customer service folks are playing judge and jury with limited experience and guidelines
