On 2/7/2016, Mr*** agreed to advertise with Angie’s List for one year per an electronically signed agreementWe require each prospective advertiser to sign a contract outlining the services Angie’s List will render, the relevant categories and the ad rate a service provider must pay for these servicesEach contract includes a standard cancellation fee of 35% of the remaining balance of the agreement
Mr*** has been in communication with his client success manager, as well as that person’s supervisorThough we offer a number of tools to help providers find success in their advertising, none of the suggestions made involved any up-front costs to Mr*** or his businessBesides offering free product to reach our members, we did suggest that Mr*** could consider offering ecommerce to our members to help increase member interest in his company
In light of any frustration or poor customer service, Angie’s List will agree to waive our standard early termination fee if he is unwilling to work with us any furtherWe do still feel that we can work alongside Mr*** to help him find value in his advertisement, but we will honor his request to cancel his advertising agreement if he chooses toWe ask that Mr*** reach out to his client success manager to let her know how we can help, or that he is no longer interested in this and would prefer to cancel
We strive to provide top notch customer service, and we regret that Mr*** felt that he had no recourse but to turn to the Revdex.comWe have attempted to work with Mr*** to assist him, and are happy to continue to do so if he still has a desire to work with us

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and find that this response/resolution is satisfactory to me I found that the problem was with a second account associated with the address Unfortunately Angie's List website does not have a methodology in which one can communicate directly with the company This causes, and will continue to cause, many problems such as this one It is sad that a company like Angie's List is so difficult to contact directly

As you may know, Angie’s List allows consumers to post comments regarding experiences they have had with area companies. Angie’s List is a passive conduit for these comments, meaning the content is wholly supplied by our consumer members. Because other consumers rely on the statements made by each member, werequire each and every member to sign the following statement before submitting a report: * I confirm that the information contained in this Service Evaluation Form (i) is true and accurate and (ii) represents my actual first-hand experienceI cknowledge and understand that Angie's List is relying upon the accuracy of the information in order to serve other membersI confirm that I do not work for, am not in competition with, or am not in any way related to the service provider in this report. Assuming that our members are willing to attest to the truthfulness of each report, we allow positive and negative reports to be submitted to our forum. We do not remove reports at the request of service providers. Rather, we allow each service provider to respond to any reports they receive, to share their point of viewMr***’ company has posted a response to the review in question, to explain to other members that they believe the review has been incorrectly attributed to their company We do have processes in place if a service provider notifies us that he/she does not recognize the name/address of a member associated with a review on their company. We will reach out to the member that submitted the review in an attempt to have them confirm that review a second time, at the request of the service provider. Mr*** has been in contact with representatives at Angie’s List regarding this situation. On 12/22/2014, a representative gathered information from Mr*** to start the reconfirmation process, in an attempt to re-confirm the reviewWe contacted the member on 12/26/2014, at the service provider’s requestThe member has not responded yetTypically, a review will remain posted if there is no response from the member directing us to remove itHowever, because the service area listed on Mr***’ company profile does not include the address listed by the member and the member has not provided an alternate address, we have removed the review I find it regrettable that we left Mr*** feeling no other recourse than to complain to the Revdex.com. On 8/6/2014, Ms*** agreed to advertise with Angie’s List for one year per the attached agreementThough you may notice Ms*** did not sign the paper contract, she did agree to the terms electronically on 8/6/Before Angie’s List will publish an advertisement, we require each prospective advertiser to sign a contract outlining the services Angie’s List will render, the relevant categories and the ad rate a service provider must pay for these servicesEach contract includes a standard cancelation fee. I sincerely apologize if we failed to deliver to the extent of Ms*** expectationsWe did, however, deliver to the extent that our contract with her promisedAngie’s List and Ms*** company have a binding agreement, and just as we have acted in accordance with our obligations, so must Ms***We will not waive the amount owed for her cancelation fee, nor will we remove the notice, which is applied to any service provider in a similar situation, until the balance due is paid. I’d like to start by offering a sincere apology to Ms*** for any misunderstanding and miscommunication of our policies Though Angie’s List memberships as a rule are non-refundable, we typically allow a member to receive a refund if they contact us shortly after an automatic renewal. Though Ms***’s membership showed search activity in 2016, her account did not renew until 6/of this year, and she reached out to us by 6/to make it clear she had not intended her account to renew. In situations like this, we are happy to refund an automatic renewal charge I have fully refunded Ms*** for her membership renewal, in the amount of $29.99. If Ms*** has any need to look into Angie’s List reviews in the future, we do have a free membership option available to members now I find it regrettable that we left Ms*** feeling she had no recourse but to contact the Revdex.comWe strive to provide top-notch service to our members. complaints filed against our company. I’d like to start by offering a sincere apology to Mr*** for any confusion regarding his membership Mr*** initially joined Angie’s List on 7/15/2017. Angie's List does not currently have a refund policy for new membership purchases. Mr*** is certainly entitled to his opinion on the estimates provided by companies that are listed on Angie’s List. Angie’s List would encourage Mr*** to leave his feedback on the companies he has had experiences with to let other members in his area know that these companies are overcharging. With that being said, Mr***’s refund of $99.99, effectively cancelling his membership, was processed on 8/28/per his request, which was escalated to a supervisor. Angie’s List seeks to offer top-notch customer service. Mr*** has now requested to have his profile deleted on Angie’s List. This is the first notice Angie’s List has received from Mr*** regarding the removal of his information from his account. At this time, Mr***’s personal information has been removed from Angie’s List, including his name, address, phone number, email address, and payment profile I find it regrettable that we left Mr*** feeling he had no recourse but to contact the Revdex.comWe strive to provide top-notch service to our membersWe do now offer a free membership option if he only occasionally needs to look up information on providers Thanks again for the opportunity to respond to this complaintPlease let me know if we can provide any further information. our company On 11/1/2016, *** ***, agreed to advertise with Angie’s List for one year per an electronically signed agreement, which I have attached to this case. We require each prospective advertiser to sign a contract outlining the services Angie’s List will render, the relevant categories and the ad rate a service provider must pay for these servicesEach contract includes a standard cancellation fee of 35% of the remaining balance of the agreement. Angie’s List has reviewed the sales process Mr*** went through to become an advertiser with Angie’s List. Mr*** was advised that he was engaging in a month contract with monthly payments. The sale process was completed up to Angie’s List and best business practice standards. If Mr*** would like to cancel his contract with Angie’s List, he will be responsible for the 35% early termination fee and any remaining balance for services rendered. Mr*** will need to continue to communicate with his Client Success Manager, Chase B***, regarding any steps he would like to take toward cancellation. I’d like to start by offering a sincere apology to Mr*** for the poor experience in pursuit of his Big Deal refundAccording to our records, Mr*** contacted us on 9/22/to ask for a refund on his $deal purchase, which was made on 3/18/All Angie’s List eCommerce purchases have a Day Refund Guarantee. All members must request a refund within days of purchaseMr*** was contacted on 9/23/regarding his request for a refund outside of days. Mr*** responded to the initial email sent, but has not followed up with Angie’s List since 9/23/2016, which resulted in his case being closed as ‘unresponsive’. I have reviewed Mr***’s specific refund request and deemed that an exception can be granted due to the scheduling issues Mr*** experienced with the service provider. During the process, Mr*** raisedquestions over the possibility of not getting calls from our members, and thecancellation process and fee was explained in detailAdditionally, Mr***has been contacted by his current account manager to discuss the account, withno response from Mr***Because Mr*** agreed to the terms of theattached contract, he is liable for the rest of the contract, as agreed toIf Mr.*** would like to make updates to his advertising or request to cancel it,he must contact his account manager directly to make any changes. In addition to the proposed solution, I am asking for a total refund of payments made I received no calls and no benefits whatsoever to the advertising I paid for Angie's List should stand by their efforts to produce at least some business for those who advertise To pay such monthly fees of and receive nothing is shameful at best on their part This solution proposed by them would put me $in the negative with nothing to show for it Also, it was their fault that they did not clarify that the rating minimum must include Angie's List members I was told that they did NOT need to be members This was a major problem that cost me calls and put my business way down on the list where no one would call me I was told that I was listed at number at best Nobody ever goes that far down the list to call I am the case in point

this process has caused Mr*** Angie’s List allows consumers to post comments regarding experiences they have had with area companies Angie’s List is a passive conduit for these comments, meaning the content is wholly supplied by our consumer members Members are required to attest to the review confirmation statement before submitting each review Without that unique attestation accompanying a review, it cannot be submitted to the website Assuming that our members are willing to attest to the truthfulness of each report, we allow positive and negative reports to be submitted to our forum We do have processes in place if a company notifies us that they do not recognize the name and address of a member associated with a review on their company We will reach out to the member that submitted the review in an attempt to confirm that review at the request of the service provider Mr*** does not recognize the member, so we have proceeded with the reconfirmation process We reached out to the reporting member on 5/15/at Mr***’s request To date, we have not received a response from the reporting member Mr*** is aware of our reconfirmation process per discussions with Angie’s List representatives on 5/15/ I apologize for any misunderstandings of our policies during those conversations on May 15th Angie’s List does not prohibit a service provider from contacting a member to ask about a review In fact, we have provided a mailing address of the member for Mr***, and have no issues with a polite letter asking the member if perhaps she has made a mistake in reviewing the wrong company What our representatives confirmed is against our policy is threatening members with lawsuits over negative reviews Though I understand that Mr*** feels this member is mistaken in leaving a review on his company, we have an across-the-board policy whereby if service providers threaten litigation over member reviews, we will post a notice on their profile about this behavior as a warning to other consumers I find it regrettable that we left Mr*** feeling no other recourse than to complain to the Revdex.com However, in this case Angie’s List has followed its policies, and must remain neutral in regards to reviews, so we will not be removing this member review at this time.
