Angie's List has offered a resolution to this customer's complaint, which still stands. It is unfortunate that the customer does not accept this response. We have attempted to work with this customer to address and resolve their complaint

Thank you for bringing this complaint to our attentionWe appreciate the opportunity to respond to complaints against our companyI
apologize for the delay in my response
Though we would have preferred to continue working with *** *** *** *** *** as an advertiser on Angie’s List, we agree that we could have been more clear during the sales process and more responsive to issues raised by Mrand Ms*** Although Mr*** signed an agreement with Angie’s List authorizing an early termination fee of 35% of the total contract value, we have decided to honor his requests by waiving this early termination fee and refunding all fees already paidThe *** account manager did reach out to offer them other options for resolving these issues, but we never heard backTherefore, we will process the refund and consider the contract canceled
In short, I sincerely apologize that this customer is disappointed with their experience with Angie’s ListWe did want to work with the *** company to help resolve any issues and reasons for cancellation, but we will waive the early termination fee since Ms*** has made it clear they are not currently interested in advertising
Thanks again for the opportunity to respond to this complaintPlease let me know if we can provide any further information
Kind regards,

Re: Complaint Case # ***
***,
Thank you for bringing this complaint to our attentionWe appreciate the
opportunity to give our side of the story regarding complaints filed against our company.
I’d like to start by offering a sincere apology to Ms*** for the frustration this process has caused
Ms*** purchased a Big Deal through Angie’s List on October 23, from *** *** *** *** *** ***The Big Deal was $Rodent Exclusion Package, and stated that it covered inspection to find potential rodent entry points and seal them off, installation of rodent baiting stations in the home to eliminate any existing activity, advice on future rodent-proofing of your home, and materials used for minor and common entry ways on ground-level exclusion work
Because the company did begin to fulfill the terms of the package, Angie’s List is unable to issue a refund of the Big Deal to Ms*** *** *** *** *** *** is ultimately responsible for the quality of their work and the experience their customers haveIn turn, they are also responsible for resolving any complaints that they receive from members because of their workIf problems arise, we strongly suggest contacting any service provider directly to see if they would be able to come to a resolutionAdditionally, we suggest leaving a review via our website, to inform other members about the experience she encountered, as well as impact the provider’s grade on the List
I find it regrettable that we left Ms*** feeling she had no recourse but to contact the Revdex.comWe strive to provide top-notch service to our membersAs Ms*** has requested, I have stopped future renewals of her membership.
Thanks again for the opportunity to respond to this complaintPlease let me know if we can provide any further information.
Kind regards,

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined the response would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
They called me and they told me that no refund will be issued and that no cancellation fees will be waivedI would have compromised with the cancellation fees being waived but they refuse. They ignore the fact that they sold me a feature as part of their advertising package which later on removed and expected me to remain active on the agreement. You have no right, after signing up for your service, to take away one of the main featuresEvery time a company acts this way, should ask the customer to re-sign the contract with the newly updated terms and conditions and leave them with a choice of either canceling or re-entering the new agreement. If you think you can get away with this, you are wrongI will now file a complaint against your business to the Federal Trade Commission and will report such erroneous way to conduct businessTo any business or consumer out there, beware of Angie's List (soon merging with Home Advisor as informed by them), do not enter agreements that in their mindset, are unbreakable.I will not pay your cancellation fees until the cows come home and for ever! Thank you and I do not accept your fake apologies

complaints filed against our company. I’d like to start by offering a sincere apology to Mr*** for any frustration or confusion regarding his membership Angie’s List specializes in locating local service providers who specialize in residential services. Angie’s List advertises that we will help you find a local provider for services on or in your home. Angie’s List does not promote or support commercial services at this time. Currently, Angie’s List does not offer refunds for purchased memberships, except in specific one-off situations. I would like to apologize to Mr*** that this was not recognized during his recent chat with a representative. If a service provider signs up for a membership and is looking for commercial services or attempting to list their business on Angie’s List, a refund would be granted. Since Mr*** paid with PayPal, he received a 20% on the $membership and was only charged $79.99. At this time, I have issued a refund for the $charged to Mr***’s PayPal account. our company In response to Mr*** complaint, there appears to be two distinct issues he is presenting.First, it appears as though he is accusing both Angie’s list and his competitor of featuring an offer through the Big Deal program that contains equipment that is no longer being manufactured, which he claims presents a fraudulent “bait and switch” experience for Angie’s list membersPer EPA regulations passed recently, Seer units are no longer allowed to be manufactured as they have been deemed less efficient than new Seer and above units, causing more strain on the environment and resourcesHowever, the regulations stipulate that all currently existing inventory be allowed to be sold, bought, and serviced until it is exhaustedHaving an abundance of this inventory, Mr*** competitor has merely chosen to exhaust it through the use of one of our advertising and marketing platforms that we offer to eligible service providers on Angie’s list. Second, Mr*** appears to be upset that the growth of his business does not align with the success he wishes and feels that Angie’s list and/or his competitor are responsible for his resultsBoth Mr*** and his competitor advertise through Angie’s listAngie’s list does not, will not, and cannot guarantee any specific results as a bi-product of advertising through our site or other such marketing platforms as The Big Deal or eCommerceAs advertisers, both companies have been eligible and been given the opportunity to take advantage of all advertising mediums availableTo suggest that Angie’s list has prevented Mr*** or any other business’s ability to compete on a level playing field is erroneous, and can be refuted through the mere proof that Mr*** business has participated in dozens of eCommerce platforms as well as traditional web-placement advertising. We hope this shines some light on the situation and would be glad to answer any additional questions or concerns you may have as they pertain to Angie’s list business practices across the industry.Kind regards, Jesse B***Angie’s List

apologize for the extreme delay in my responseI apologize for the frustration Ms*** mentions in her complaint. Angie’s List allows consumers to post comments regarding experiences they have had with area companies. Angie’s List is a passive conduit for these comments, meaning the content is wholly supplied by our consumer members. Members are required to attest to the review confirmation statement before submitting each review. Without that unique attestation accompanying a review, it cannot be submitted to the website. Assuming that our members are willing to attest to the truthfulness of each report, we allow positive and negative reports to be submitted to our forum. We do have processes in place if a company notifies us that they do not recognize the name and address of a member associated with a review on their company. We will reach out to the member that submitted the review in an attempt to confirm that review at the request of the service provider. We did reach out to the member in question. Our member responded to our requests by confirming that their review was intended for a different company. November 29, Indianapolis Revdex.com EWashington Street Indianapolis, IN Attn*** *** Re: Complaint Case # *** ***, Thank you for bringing this complaint to our attentionWe appreciate the opportunity to respond to complaints against our company
On 12/28/2013, Mr*** started to advertise with Angie’s List for one year per an electronically signed agreement. We require each prospective advertiser to sign a contract outlining the services Angie’s List will render, the relevant categories and the ad rate a service provider must pay for these servicesEach contract includes a standard cancellation fee of 35% of the remaining balance of the agreement. Mr*** had contacted Angie’s List regarding additional services that we offer through our eCommerce programs. Mr*** was upset that he could not run eCommerce offers for additional categories that he had not received reviews for services performed. Angie’s List requires all service providers to obtain reviews for each category that they wish to run eCommerce offers. Angie’s List eCommerce programs are a completely separate option from advertising contracts for service providers to utilize to generate additional exposure. Mr***’s dissatisfaction with the need to obtain reviews in new categories to run a more robust eCommerce campaign does not hold any effect on his contract, which he signed, for his advertising campaign with Angie’s List On 2/24/2014, Mr***’s disputed credit card charges for the payments made for his advertising contract settled in the Angie’s List system. Mr***’s company had received services from Angie’s List and is responsible to pay for the services rendered At this point, Mr*** has not paid for the services rendered and owes the early termination fee outlined in his contractMr*** was sent to the internal collections team at Angie’s List to recover funds not paid for services rendered. Our internal collections team proactively cancelled Mr***’s advertising contract and placed a notice on the profile for ‘Non-Payment of Advertising’. Mr*** will be responsible for paying for the services rendered that were disputed with his credit card company and the early termination fees associated with his contract cancellation. Our internal collections team contact Mr*** multiple times in February regarding his outstanding balance. Mr*** replied and threatened to sue Angie’s List and demanded we stop contacting him about his owed balance. At that time, the $owed by Mr*** was sent to a third party collections agency to seek payment for the funds owed to Angie’s List. Until Mr*** pays the amount owed in full, the notice on the profile for ‘Non-Payment of Advertising’ will remain. Angie’s List does not delete any company profiles, but does reserve the right to remove the company from keyword and category search results when a company has a notice placed on their profile I sincerely apologize that this customer is disappointed with their experience with Angie’s ListWe strive to provide top-notch customer service. Thanks again for the opportunity to respond to this complaintPlease let me know if we can provide any further information. Kind regards, Jesse M*** Angie’s List
