Hi there,Thanks for reaching out about thisWe're sorry to hear that backing this project has been an underwhelming experience, and that you’re dissatisfied with the reward you received. We do our best to maintain an ecosystem that gives project creators the support and freedom necessary to bring
their creative ideas to lifeThis often means that when projects launch on Kickstarter they’re still in the early stages of developmentWe expect creators to make every effort to complete the project as promisedWe apologize that in this case, the finished product was ultimately different than what you had wished for.As a backer of the project, you played an important role in its development. In this specific case, we recommend continuing to reach out to this creator regarding your refund request and with input regarding the reward you received. Receiving constructive feedback such as yours may help them to resolve your issue, or even improve their process or communication down the road. As funds are disbursed directly to the project creator, we're unable to facilitate refundsThat said, we hope that this matter is resolved soon and we are here to help if you have any other questions or concerns.Best,Kickstarter

Hi there,As the creators and stewards of Kickstarter, we hate more than anything when a project doesn't come to fruitionAllowing creators to take risks and attempt to bring something new to life is the backbone of what we doHowever, we also understand that there is an inherent level of risk in
any creation process.Kickstarter is built around minimizing that risk through all-or-nothing funding, which allows the collective voice of the people to decide which projects reach their goalOn our end, we review projects, uphold our rules (***), practice careful governance, and use anti-fraud filteringThe foundation of the entire system, however, is the collective wisdom of the people who back projects.Still, despite a creator's best efforts, some projects won't always come together as plannedIn these situations we make ourselves available to creators to help however we can, and we encourage them to be as open as possible with their backers about the obstacles they faceBut no matter our efforts, projects will sometimes fail to come together as planned and backers will sometimes be disappointed in outcomesWe strive to constantly learn from this, and to make sure that expectations are appropriately set for backers (like on our Trust & Safety page at ***).Best,Kickstarter

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ***, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:
[Kickstarter should have some accountability rules set in place with the companies using their website. I have written Mighty #several times and have not heard back. I do not know what you mean by other avenues but if you mean social media, I am not apart of any social media and I certainly should not have to join anything to get the product I paid for. If Kickstarter would reach out to the company there is more likely to be a response. Again, Kickstarter needs to take some responsibility and oversee that companies who have completed projects actually get the goods to the cunsumer. I have been trying to resolve this since May of when the game was released.

Hi ***, Thanks for reaching out and bringing this to our attentionWe're sorry to hear that backing this project has been a frustrating experience. Kickstarter is here to help creators fund new ideas, giving them control over their creative work as backers follow along and become a part
of the processProjects often start off by sharing an idea for something that isn't yet finished, and nobody can predict exactly how the process is going to goMany ideas get refined or modified as they move from prototypes to actual products, and it’s not uncommon for wrinkles to crop up that push back a project’s estimated delivery date. While it's easy to jump to the conclusion that a project is fraudulent because it hasn't yet been completed, it's often simply the case that the project has taken much longer than planned to complete, and the creator may be hard at work behind the scenes to finish it. Our biggest expectation is that, especially when a project is delayed, the creator is maintaining regular communication through updates or messagesIt seems that the creator has recently been in touch with backers about the status of the projectIf that's not the case here, we're just as disappointed as you, and we encourage you to find polite ways to appeal to the creator, cheer them on, or nudge them to post more information. Since funds are disbursed directly to a creator once their project is successfully funded, we cannot facilitate refundsThat said, you're welcome to reach out to the creator to inquire whether a refund is possible(It's worth noting, though, that if a creator has been working on their project, they may have already used these funds for production and may not be able to issue a refund.) Thanks for being a thoughtful backer and part of the Kickstarter community. Best,Kickstarter

Hi there,Thanks for reaching out about thisWe expect creators to fulfill rewards and communicate with backers at every step along the wayWhile Kickstarter is the platform for this agreement, we are not a part of itWe do not investigate a project creator’s ability to complete their project, nor
do we facilitate refunds or the fulfillment of rewardsWhile in most cases you’ll find that rewards are delivered as promised, it’s also important to realize that some projects might not fulfill as planned.Successfully funded project creators plan their project around the funding they received while it was live on KickstarterAs a result, these funds are often tied up in the completion of the project, or fulfillment of rewardsIf you'd like to see if a refund may be possible, you will need to reach out to the project creator directlyTo message a project creator on Kickstarter, visit the project page and click on the creator's profile image or nameThis will open up their bio page where you can click the blue "Contact me" link to send them a message through our system. As funds are dispersed directly to the project creator, we're unable to facilitate refunds. When you back a project on Kickstarter you enter into an agreement with the project creator, as described in our Terms of Use: ***These terms outline the responsibilities of backers and creatorsThis information can serve as a basis for legal recourse if a creator doesn’t fulfill their obligations under the agreementWe hope that backers will consider using this provision only in cases where they feel that a creator has not made a good faith effort to complete the project and fulfill.Best,Kickstarter

Hi there, We hate more than anything when communication with a creator breaks down or a project doesn't come to fruitionAllowing creators to take risks and attempt to bring something new to life is the backbone of what we doHowever, we also understand that there is an inherent level of risk
in any creation process. Kickstarter is built around minimizing that risk through all-or-nothing funding, which allows the collective voice of the people to decide which projects reach their goalOn our end, we review projects, uphold our rules (***), practice careful governance, and use anti-fraud filteringThe foundation of the entire system, however, is the collective wisdom of the people who back projects. Still, despite a creator's best efforts, some projects won't always come together as plannedIn these situations we make ourselves available to creators to help however we can, and we actively reach out to encourage them - as we have with this creator - to be as open as possible with their backers about the obstacles they faceBut no matter our efforts, projects will sometimes fail to come together as planned and backers will sometimes be disappointed in outcomesWe strive to constantly learn from this, and to make sure that expectations are appropriately set for backers (like on our Trust & Safety page a* ***). In this particular case, it seems that the creator was using a third party service outside of Kickstarter to collect backers' information for fulfillment and shipping of rewards, and in light of this, it's best to continue trying to reach out to the creator directlyAs funds are disbursed directly to the creator, Kickstarter cannot issue refundsThe best course of action in finding out if a refund is possible is, again, contacting the creator directlyIf you're having trouble reaching the creator through the Kickstarter messaging system, we often recommend seeing if there are other channels through which you can reach themEspecially if it's been some time since a project ended, or if the creator is getting many messages from backers at once, it may be easier for them to handle communication on their own website, through a direct email address, or other methods. We do take your feedback to heart and we have passed it along to the rest of the team hereWe're constantly improving our platform and it's hearing from folks like you that helps us learn and grow. Best,Kickstarter

I am TIRED of kickstarter IGNORING every instance when I tell them that I HAVE contacted my financial institution -- MULTIPLE TIMES!!! -- and there IsNoProblemWith my credit unionOr credit/debit card This completely ignoring that it MUST be kickstarter systems because up to 10% of backers cannot get their funds drawn for a single project, it's time to quit deluding yourselves as a company that the problem is with everybody else, and ADMIT, like a decent company would, that the problem is on your end my financial institution has NEVER RECIEVED THE TRANSACTIONS TO DENY THEM THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN DENIED FIX YOUR SYSTEM BECAUSE I WILL NOT LET THIS COMPLAINT GO UNTIL KICKSTARTER HONORS ITS PROMISES TO CONTRIBUTORS

We also expect all members of the Kickstarter community to act with honesty and opennessOur Community support and Integrity teams monitor Kickstarter's system and review reports received from usersSome actions taken may include: Reaching out to creators and reminding them post project updates as well as respond to backer messagesRevoking account privileges, including the ability to run another campaign on Kickstarter, until rewards have been fulfilled or an update has been posted for backersSuspending or restricting account privileges if there is sufficient evidence of abuse against our system or trust of others. We track creators' fulfillment histories as comprehensively as possible - from snags to more serious complications - to help ensure creator accountabilityWe may adjust our policies based on feedback from backers and creators, and/or data aggregated across projects. Although we are unable to offer refunds and while we can't speak to the nature of specific projects that have been approved or declined, we're constantly working on improving our vetting process for creators and we are grateful for the feedback that folks like you provide. Hi there,While we cannot speak to the specifics of the project in question as it is not named in this complaint, I'm happy to provide more details about how Kickstarter works.Projects that launch on Kickstarter are often very early in the development processThis gives backers an opportunity to be
a part of the creative process from the beginningIt also makes backing a project on Kickstarter very different from purchasing an item in a store. Here at Kickstarter HQ, we expect creators to fulfill rewards, offer refunds if they’re unable to complete their project, and communicate with backers at every step along the wayWhile Kickstarter is the platform for this agreement, we are not a part of itWe do not investigate a project creator’s ability to complete their project, nor do we facilitate refunds or the fulfillment of rewardsWhile in most cases you’ll find that rewards are delivered as promised, it’s also important to realize that some projects might not fulfill as planned.

Hi there,We have sent two emails to all backers of the Zano project outlining the steps we are taking to increase the transparency surrounding this project's demiseTo clarify further, we cannot offer refunds on behalf of a creator, as the agreement is between backers and
creators: ***Best,Kickstarter

Hi there,Thanks for reaching out. It sounds like you may have pledged twice to this project using two accountsWe have sent you an email with directions to help you locate that second pledge. That said, please note that as funds are disbursed directly to the project creator, we're unable
to facilitate refunds. If you’d like to see if a refund is possible, we recommend reaching out to the creator directly. To message a project creator, visit the project page and click on the creator's profile imageThis will open up their bio page where you can click the blue "Contact me" link to send them a message. [I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because: This is the same automated response verbatim as last time.  How is this helpful in resolving the issue?  I still do not have the item I bought or a refund of $60.00.  In a capitalistic society one of these two things needs to happen.  Mighty No. 9 successfully completed their project but I did not receive my item based on errors of that company.  Kickstarter is the overall company for all the projects funded under it.  Kickstarter takes 5% of total money funded on the site, therefore if Kickstarter cannot resolve getting the product or refund from a company under them, then Kickstarter needs to be responsible for the refund themselves.]

They haven't answered my question! They haven't explained why they are still endorsing this company by promoting their products and have not provided any reassurance to the action they are taking. They provide terms and conditions which reassure backers that they have some confidence in the platform but then take no responsibility for implementing these terms and conditions on organisations that fail to deliver.

This is a standard generic response. This does not IDENTIFY my case in particular to the money that was collected. They say they hold no liability. They collected the money, that they profited from the venture that was presented. I did not receive my product... I Want My Refund... [redacted]
