I was a ð??¯ skeptical that BetterHelp was too good to be true. But I needed the help and needed it fast. This was a couple months ago, and I knew getting an appointment at an office would take at least a week or more. So I took the plunge and signed up for BetterHelp. It was really easy. I took a quiz to help pair me with what I was looking for. It populated a list that same day. After I made my choice I had an appointment the very next day. I have been meeting with Sabrina every week since and I love it so much!! BetterHelp is definitely worth a try if you need someone to talk to.... and right now, couldn't we all use someone like that?!!

I'd been meaning to pursue therapy for quite some time but due to several reasons I'd put it off. However, I recently experienced a debilitating panic attack and once it passed decided to sign up for BetterHelp considering seeing a live therapist during COVID-19 isn't feasible.

It was only after I submitted a lengthy questionnaire, as well as the mandatory few explanation sentences, that I was informed there is in fact a fee. As well, the fee is billed monthly, which means you have no choice but to pay hundreds of dollars upfront as opposed to weekly, like every other therapist (or at least the ones I've seen; my experiences are admittedly not universal). The price is mentioned in the FAQs, so I will take responsibility for not looking a bit deeper. However, I firmly believe BetterHelp should make their pricing transparent, and I will explain why below.

Simply out of curiosity, I sent an extremely short message via their contact page asking if there is any possibility of weekly over monthly payment. Nothing else, just that one question. I did not expect an answer until tomorrow considering the page stated that messages received after 5pm have little likelihood of being answered the same day. So imagine my shock when I got 2 emails in a row stating that I had been matched with a counsellor. My first thought was that BetterHelp was offering a try-before-you-buy session or something to that extent. I found it admirably compassionate, and I felt confident.

How wrong I was. I clicked the link in the email and it took me to a live chat log with a counsellor, who had already sent a greeting message asking me to describe my problem. After meticulously writing out what I wanted to say, I attempted to click the 'send' button... and a pop-up appeared prompting me to input my payment method.

To say I was shocked is to put it lightly; I felt confused, embarrassed, and hurt. I am not ashamed to admit I experienced another (albeit minor) panic attack, as finances are a deep-rooted source of my anxiety. It came off as though BetterHelp meant to bait vulnerable individuals into paying fees by exposing them to a seemingly well-meaning counsellor. If BetterHelp wanted to improve, they should make you aware of the cost before you take their questionnaire, and DEFINITELY before they match you with a counsellor.

I respect their reduced pricing for those impacted by COVID-19, but I cannot stress enough how vital it is that the payment is made black-and-white, especially for students who are particularly susceptible to financial issues and subsequent mental health issues at a time like this. I assumed BetterHelp would understand that finances contributes significantly to mental health and thus would have more tact with their methods but apparently not.

As a college student with zero income and a host of crippling problems, I am asking BetterHelp to treat all visitors with tact and compassion, not just the paying ones.

My counselor is great. She cares about me and is truely interested in me. I have attended a few groupdinars. The speakers were interesting and responsive to questions. I recommend BetterHelp.

I must admit I'm a bit old-fashioned and I was skeptical when I was offered this opportunity to use Betterhelp for counseling. I must admit that's a Betterhelp has been a game-changer. I'm able to log on and see what appointments and days are available. they also offer a lot of great groupinars covering a lot of different topics.

I love this platform... and wish other services could do it this way. It's so convenient to communicate with my Counselor... and the scheduling is so easy.

BetterHelp has fixed all the issues I had with traditional in person counselling: price, in between communication, and scheduling. It's like they read my mind as to what would work better for me.

I found this through a podcast. I was looking for a way to fit counseling into my life, and here we are! I love how fast it was to find a match and that she was VERY open about if I did not like her or she realized she could not help me, I could easily switch. After 3 months of monthly payments, I switched to paying for 3 months at a time (IT SAVES MONEY!). I love how easy it is to schedule and I feel so much better each Sunday night as we mentally prep for the week (95% of my anxiety is from work (teaching 5th grade). I highly recommend this for people who have trouble scheduling an hour session plus drive time... downside is I am not sure how insurance works with this...

BetterHelp is amazing! It's my first time experiencing therapy, and it's been a game changer. I will definitely use this service for much longer. It's also an amazing gateway to seeing a therapist or another mental health professional in person, if I ever decide I need it. It's really been great at tearing down stigma around mental health.

This site is 100% legit! They truly care about your mental health and well being. Their website is awesome and easy to use and their mobile app is as well. They are extremely affordable. Their counselors are well trained and have all the schooling needed to help you. I would recommend them to anyone

BetterHelp is the only way to do therapy in 2020 as a working mom. It is so convenient and they could not have matched me to a more suitable therapist. It's a game changer being able to contact my counselor at all times. When life happens and you need to touch base with a trustworthy person to help in certain situations, this meets that need. I'm no longer just writing to myself in my journal, but my thoughts and concerns and needs are being seen and affirmed by someone. I love BetterHelp.

Amazing service! It is a modern and convenient way to receive therapy without having to leave home. My therapist and I were matched up very well and she is so in tune with me. I'm able to save our chats so I can review them which is an enormous asset for me. We can even keep in touch in between sessions. Also, the price per session is reasonable. I actually save money by not having to use public transportation or gas. Thank you, betterhelp.com!

great service affordable with licensed professionals. love using this service

This app/website, BetterHelp, is honestly the best app on my phone. I mean that! Granted it might be tough to get the ball rolling, but once you do, it's so worth it! It's because this service is something that helps you grow and heal, exponentially, so much in such a fast-paced world, we live in today. Now if your therapist is in the same state still try to make an effort to at least visit them, have a session in person or just to show your support for how much these individuals work *** your behave.

BetterHelp is a very upfront, user friendly service that I feel provides appropriate price transparency and excellent customer support. They really make a dedicated effort for a business to help the customer and particularly in an area as sensitive as psychological support. I liked the wide array of services they offered, the frequent and friendly check-ins, and lightning fast and helpful customer service. The website and application were also very functional and effective. Highly recommended.

ZERO responses on days of email communications because there is no phone number to contact. I found a toll-free number on the Revdex.com website, called it and it automatically hung up on me after a brief hold. I started the conversation days ago about getting a refund because they clearly do not have their poop-in-a-group. ZERO responses.

I will have my third therapy session today with a therapist with BetterHelp. Her name is Carrie Le Blanc and she's amazing. I have gotten more real help and support from her than any therapist I've seen in the last 20 years. The staff checks in to see how things are going, which is amazing. I'm grateful to have found therapy I can afford that is actually productive. Even if one can afford the high prices most therapists charge, there is no guaranty of having a therapist who understands what I need. I have already recommended this site, and Carrie in particular, to two people who have been trying to find help that works for them.

An amazing company making access to good mental health therapy easier for all!

I have sincere concerns about the ethics of any therapist that joins an online therapy website that preys on people at their most desperate moments. I got so far as the window notifying me of the price for vague help (X per week but mostly messaging?). I shut the browser down at the price - which is fine - but I received an automated message from a therapist - Leslie Gray (MA, LPC, LCAS) - and a link telling me I had a message. To read the message, I need to pay the price ($260.00). Who else contacts an online therapy website at 11pm at night but people experiencing trauma? Who else has to hold themselves back from paying $260.00 they can't afford? An automated email from someone who may or may not be available is an insult and unethical. They clearly prey on the people struggling. Take a deep breath and move on. They have a business plan- not a humanitarian mission.

They're easy to work with and I enjoy the counselor I was provided. They make payments easy if you're struggling and I appreciate the lengths they go to help you when you ask.

This is the best counseling experience...
This is the best counseling experience I have ever had. I got connected with the perfect therapist. She and I have progressed so far in just six months. I feel like a different person. Being able to text anytime and record my thoughts and feelings as they are being experienced are the key to a successful experience. Going into a therapists office is sort of like masking yourself to go in public. I felt like I started at the very beginning every time I walked in and didn't end up getting anywhere. Every week I am given an assignment or something to write and think about. That too is something I'm not used to. I've been through many counselors. This is it for me. I won't go anywhere else. Every week when I have my FaceTime session, I can be anywhere. Home, pulled over on the side of the road, on vacation in the pool. It Doesn't matter. Being open and hungry for change is important, and I believe this will inspire through the times when it is difficult to find the hunger. Erika Mateus is perfect for me and I have never found a mentor, guidance or any therapy from anyone that even comes close.

Better Help is amazing. My counselor is very knowledgeable, supportive, and provides great insights and suggestions. It has helped me so much so far with my anxiety and depression.
