Capital City Appliance Service Reviews (%countItem)

I asked Capital City Appliance to service my dryer. I stated I had an LG dryer. The technician arrived and stated they do not work on LG dryers. I was angry and asked him to leave as I had made arrangements to change my work schedule. He was probably in my home under 5 minutes. Now, they want the funds for the service call. I received a call today (8/14/2019) stating I had until 5pm to pay it or she is sending me to collection and informed me they do work on LG dryers and that I threw the technician out because he didn't have the parts, which is false.

Sorry she feels this way. When the customer called to book the appointment on 7/1/19 @ 9:46 a.m. she was quoted the $85 plus tax for the trip charge out, diagnosis and estimate for the repair. At that time she accepted service. The customer also stated they would call back with the model and serial for the dryer, which she did not do. We carry the most common parts on the trucks, but without the correct model and serial given we were unable to have the parts on the 1st visit. The technician did NOT say we don't work on this product, he advised the parts were special order, this is not uncommon without a model and serial. The diagnosis was performed, as requested. Ms. was dissatisfied with the fact the technician did not have the parts on hand, and requested he vacate the premises. The charges stand as we performed and up held our service as requested.

Capital city is the requested warranty provider for my *** dryer, as my issue began when the dryer was approx. 2 months in my possession. I had no problems with office staff as other reviews suggested, and the technician was always prompt and arrived as scheduled. MY issue is that the product has not been fixed! 5 service calls were to my home with the 5th one being why we are now where we are. First call tech arrives informed/aware of squeak with tumble of dryer probably a bearing, he does not carry that on his truck the item will need to be ordered and a new appointment. Second appointment he replaces the bearing. I do a load of laundry that evening --it still squeaks. Call Capital City to make aware, I am informed I'll have to go through *** because they have closed the case. I called *** made aware it was still squeaking and they reset another appointment. Appointment 3 he shows says we must have replaced the wrong bearing, he'll order the remaining parts and be back. Appointment 4 my daughter lets him in as I am at a required work meeting during the early portion of my scheduled window. She showed him to the laundry room and left the room, he let her know when he was completed and left. I come home and do laundry and it is still squeaking! Now supposedly every bearing in the drum has been replaced... must not be the bearings then...think of something else in the little 3 foot by 4 foot box that could be causing the machine to squeak. I get appointment number 5 set up. With the 30 minute prior to arrival call the technician states that if he does not hear the sound when he arrives I will be assessed a service call for him being there, and says that *** is not willing to invest anymore into the warranty. (Honestly I don't blame , BUT the machine has not been repaired). While he is there with a load drying it is making the noise. No, the noise is not constant, and the tone of it varies-- it can be a very light sound to being one that can be heard half way across my home, but it does it, and with a BRAND NEW item I expect it to work correctly. I am given the excuse that what he is hearing is at a satisfactory ran*** and that it is not something that calls for further attempts for solution. ( I am wording that in a much nicer way than I was told). He begins claiming that he only heard the noise with the first service and the following calls have been going on my word of the noise being as issue. Well ya, you're not going to hear it when you direct me not to have it running prior to your arrival because of heat issues and changing parts. Honestly in the 4 times he had been there the total amount of time he could have been in my home was less than 20 minutes, and in that 20 minute I'll be generous and say maybe half of the time was listening to the machine. When did customer service get to the mentality of telling me what I am experiencing, and tell me that it is good enough--live with it. I am given some song and dance that he has 12 service calls daily and is allotted 20 minutes per call to try and figure out and resolve the issues. Hey, I'm sorry your are overscheduled but that is not reason that you don't do your job correctly. If you are not capable of diagnosing the issue, maybe see if someone else is able to do it BUT don't leave the customer saying that it is good enough deal with it.

First thing that needs to be recognized is that we did not manufacture the unit, we just repair the product. We are very sorry that you feel this way, we did attempt to solve the problem by replacing the only parts that would or could make the squeak. On the 1st trip and 2nd trip for the squeak we found the main bearing was causing an issue, so it was replaced. 3rd & 4th trips for the squeak, no problem could be identified by the technician, but to satisfy a complaint, he went ahead and ordered and replaced the only other items that could be suspect, and once again no problem detected. Finally on the 5th trip out a faint squeak was heard, but no functions were enough to determine any issues. On all occasions, when we departed the unit is functioning to specs per the manufacturer, and the consumer signed off on the work orders stating satisfactorily completed. You know, a slight squeak could come from anywhere in the metal cabinet, as stated only 3 foot by 4 foot, with welds on thin metal, that heats up and cools down and yes over time/usage could develop a squeak that cannot be pinpointed. Her best and truest statement in the whole story is that she should call , and get another service company to come out and listen for a squeak. We did nothing wrong here, except to attempt to appease a consumer over a squeak.

Worst company to get your Whirlpool refrigerator fixed. They have come to our house 6-7 times. Still issues not resolved. I wish I can give ZERO stars.
Here is the history.
1) Came to fix Icemaker. Said need new parts. Ordered. Came back to service. Opened the packge oops worng part, need to come again with right parts. 2 service appointments wasted in this.
2) Finally fixed the icemake by replacing some electronic board but that broke the refrigerator. Won't cool enough. IceMakeer and Freezer is works.
3) New appointment to check and order the 3rd part. It arrives so new appointment to replace the 3rd part. Still no luck with Refrigerator section. New appointment needed.
4) Next appointment they call *** said the parts CAP City replaced are not compatible. Replace 2 parts. They order 2 new parts.
5) 4/26 parts arrived. Appointment this morning. OOPS wrong part in package. 2nd part completely missing. Ordered again. Now need new appointment soon.
Saga continues.... I wouldn't recommend them...

Timely and efficient, very knowledgeable and courteous. When I need appliance repair, I specifically request Capital City because I know it will be done correctly. Great crew.

I have a new Whirlpool refrigerator, purchased 5 months ago.
Had a major leak, uneven freezer temperatures and very loud buzzing noise with vibration.
This appliance is under warranty which is serviced by Capital City Appliance.
However they still charge me $100 a visit to repair the problems.
Charging customers with a valid warranty is not right.

This consumer has had us to her home on 3 occasions for a noise from her refrigerator. The technician has attempted to appease her for her noise. The first two trips she was not charged and manufacturer covered one trip as a customer service, even though noises are not a covered issue. Finally, for the 3rd request the manufacturer quoted her a service call fee if no issues of operational nature were found. We also informed her of that fact upon confirming the service call, operational issue only. She agreed with both the manufacturer and Capital City Appliance Service. On the 3rd trip for noise, she was charged a service call/trip charge due to no functional problem found. Protocol was followed at all times and all information upfront and clearly stated. The manufacturer is in agreement with the charges and the procedure was handled appropriately.

I am rejecting this response because:

The charge is fraudulent. They conned me into paying a service charge when I am under warranty with sad stories about how their staff does not get paid.

And to say they are "Appeasing me" is totally ridiculous. The technician heard my recording of the loud noises coming from the refrigerator and he heard it first hand as well and said it needed to be fixed. He agreed it was a problem. Their job is to fix problems, and the refrigerator is under warranty. So I paid $100 for nothing.

I believe they are taking advantage of older customers and preying upon them with sad stories about how they do not get paid in order for seniors to write checks to them.

All they can talk about is how they don't get paid by anyone and insist people write checks to them when the appliance is under warranty. I talked with Whirlpool who said that this company is paid to service warranties. Other customers online have also complained about how this company bullies and threatens people if checks are not written when items are under warranty.

Repair guy, Kris, is really nice. Good personality, humorous and compassionate about his career, the products he works on and his employer. He's been to my house numerous time diagnosing and repairing Frigidaire and Samsung appliances that aren't even 5 years old. Fortunately I always purchase extended warranties. Capitol City Appliances Service, Inc. is great!

I had a different service company initially come out to repair my NEW refrigerator and they said it couldn't be fixed, would have to get it replaced. Capital City came out, easy fix with a bolt that was missing. Capital City repairman was so professional and good follow-up. He spent extra time with me showing me features of the refrigerator, etc. Very thorough, friendly, professional. Would recommend.

Waiting a over a week for service. Kept making excuses why they couldn’t come out earlier or why technician waited for 15min but did not wait, because mother in law arrived at the house before the time they said they technician left.

Capital City Appliance Service Response • Feb 07, 2019

The service area for the customer is limited due to the location and the part availability. As advised upon receive of the request, and accepted by the consumer. The day of service, we arrived within the time frame provided, as we advised the customer on the way. Upon arrival, no one was present at the home. We reached out to the customer, to be told they were now five min out. After 10 min of waiting, technician vacated. After speaking with the consumer to rectify the situation, no agreement could be reached, therefore we have referred customer back to his home warranty for service from another provider. Unfortunately we can't please them all. We strive for the best.

I am rejecting this response because: I’ve had to waiting since Wednesday of last week expecting for them to come out Tuesday because I’m off and I know they only service my area Tuesday and Thursday, they tell me they couldn’t get the part in and it would have to be Thursday. My Wife and I have 4 kids, 3 toddlers washing dishes by hand is a huge inconvenience for us. I have the times down from when the technician called and said I was next but he couldn’t give me an exact time of when he would be at my house, I informed my mother in-law, next the tech calls back says he’s at my house, I immediately text my mother in law to let her know he’s there and she says she is already on her way, then calls back 3 min later and to tell me no one is Home, unfortunately I’m at work and miss his call but answer the call from the office, I tell them she is on her way give her 5min, I then get a text from my mother in law saying no one is there, I call the office and they tell me he waited 15min and left, which is a lie I have the times to prove it

Mr ***, we gave our customary 30 min call ahead, we were informed that the mother was there. We proceeded to the home and arrived within our quoted time frame and after our 30 min call ahead and no one was present. We then called and were advised someone would be there in five minutes, 15 min later no one was still at the home and the tech was advised to move on to finish the rest of his busy route. Also, the Mr was given an option for us to return to complete his service, but he refused so we sent the job order back to the extended warranty company that contracted us. They were acceptable to our procedure. We can ill afford to make a trip to their location and be stood up as we were. The complaint should be by us for this wasted trip and for our time and effort.
