Capital One Financial Corporation Reviews (2378)

Review: In November 2008, this company Charged Off my account balance of $4246 and reported this charge off to the [redacted]. As a result, the [redacted] considered this debt forgiven and charged me taxes and penalties based on this forgiven debt. Meanwhile Capital One has continued to charge interest on this account, reporting a current past due balance of $8059 to the credit agencies. As the debt was forgiven, reported to the [redacted] as such, and as the statute of limitations on this debt has past, I contend that to continue to accrue interest on this account is both inaccurate and illegal. I have twice disputed this information with the credit agencies, yet Capital One continues to confirm this information as accurate.Desired Settlement: I am requesting that Capital One adjust the High Balance noted on my credit report to the $4246 balance at the time of the charge-off, and that any mention of a current past-due amount be deleted from my credit files.

Review: I set up my August payment for 8/7/15 and for some reason the system did not process it. I was charged a $25.00 late fee and never notified about the payment not being processed. I don't feel I should be responsible for a problem with their system. My complaint concerns: a Credit CardDesired Settlement: I would like the $25.00 fee removed.

Review: I was a cosigner on a capital one credit card with my husband, and the credit card was included in a chapter 13 bankruptcy repayment plan. Capital One is aware of this, but they will not update my credit because they said their policy is to do this at the conclusion of bankruptcy(which is in 5 years). I have asked multiple times for this debt to be reflected in the bankruptcy because my bankruptcy was confirmed last year with the US bankruptcy court and all of our creditors.Desired Settlement: I want my credit and my husbands credit updated because it is currently showing a delinquent balance of $1227.

Review: We made some charges that were flagged as a fraud alert and denied. We called up to resolve the issue and both my wife and I provided all the information requested, and the customer service representative confirmed our issue was resolved and we could use the card to place the purchases again. We were then notified soon after that our account was terminated. When we called to inquire as to what happened, I provided my card number, date of birth, and last four digits of my social security number, and then I was abruptly told, "no one at Capital One can help you." When I inquired regarding whether my recent purchases went through, the same statement was repeated. When I asked who cancelled my account, the same statement was repeated. When I asked when my check for the rewards dollars owed me would arrive, I was told they were "forfeited." I have been a loyal customer to Capital One for several years - never made a late payment. I don't understand what happened. Product_Or_Service: Capital One Credit Card, [redacted] Signatur Account_Number: [redacted], ExDesired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Refund We would like our $144 of rewards dollars refunded.

Review: On 09/07/2014, CAP ONE generated a hard inquiry on my credit report with Experian and TransUnion. Several calls and letters were sent to Capital One to provide me with further information to determine who gave them permission to review my credit report with Experian and TransUnion. All attempts have failed. My complaint concerns: OtherDesired Settlement: I will request to have Capital One removed the hard inquiry on my credit report on 09/07/2014 with Experian and Equifax.

Review: I moved recently and I lost my card recently. I have a [redacted] I made a large purchase recently where they were suppose to elect 48 month financing no interest. They gave me 6 months. Since I lost my card and I moved recently they asked a bunch of ridiculous questions that were very old. I failed one of these questions because I said I wasnt sure about the make or model of a certain vehicle. My complaint concerns: a Credit CardDesired Settlement: I need a new [redacted] Big Card to resolve the 48 month financing. Actually, I dont want a card at all because I am not satisfied with Capital One's Customer Service. I just need Capital One and [redacted] to straighten out the large order I made recently with the proper financing term option.

Review: It started it months ago of which I received several transactions but because of my work not depositing the amount into the account on time, those transactions have failed to come through, therefore, according to them, my account will be close if another failed tranactions go through. On 22nd of Sept, 2013, I was in the process of transferring over $100 into my checking accout when I received a unauthorized charge that was on my [redacted] account and it attempted to process through to my checking account. I contacted Capital One 360 regarding this issue, and my account was noted about it. Day after, the transaction preceded through and I received a message stating my account will be close in 30 days. Yes, I am aware if I get another failed transaction, but the issue is this was an unauthorized transaction, of which [redacted] can also confirm on my behalf and stated to me that any amount taken wouldve been refunded.Desired Settlement: I would like Capital One 360 to stop the cancellation on my account and give me a final chance. It would NOT be fair to close my account due to an unauthorized charge, and would violate my rights as a consumer.

Review: About a month ago I received an offer to upgrade my current Capital One card to the VentureOne card. I have been a Capital One customer for approximately 5 years. I have never made a late payment and I have a zero balance on my account right now. I also have outstanding credit (750+). I of course wanted to upgrade to the card since it is a great rewards card. I was also under the impression that in upgrading to the VentureOne card I would receive the introductory offer of receiving 20,000 bonus miles when you spend $1,000 in the first 3 months of having the card. My wife and I are planning a trip to the Carribean in January so this offer appealed to me especially. However, when I received the card, I checked my account and noticed that there were no special offers attached to my account. After contacting their customer service department they informed me that since they upgraded my account as a "courtesy" to me for being a good customer, I did not in turn qualify for this special offer. I asked the customer service representative and she told me that there was no way she could include this offer on my account but that I was welcome to apply for another account in order to receive the introductory offer. Why would I want to have multiple Capital One accounts open? And why would I want a hard inquiry on my credit if I don't need to have that? Why couldn't Capital One simply add the introductory rewards offer to my account as a reward for being a good, loyal customer. I was always under the impression that when you had these higher level cards, they went out of their way to provide you with excellent customer service. This is not what I expected. My complaint concerns: a Credit CardDesired Settlement: Please add the VentureOne introductory rewards offer to my account.

Review: I emailed Capital One stating I am trying to locate to which collection agency they forwarded my debt to. In the email I stated that I wanted this information in writing. Their reply was a genetic response stating due to security reasons they could not release this information via email and a number to call to speak to a Capital One Representative. The number in fact turned out to be [redacted] Agency. While I spoke to a nice person named [redacted] and was told he will forward me information [redacted] has on file. I emailed Capital One back five times stating I wanted the information directly from Capital One who currently owns my debt and which collection to contact IN WRITING. I stated in the email I understand the security issues to please mail the requested information to the US Postal mailing address they have on file for me. They refused replying with the security unsecured email nonsense. Not acknowledging my response for it to be mail to my address they have on file to me...the same address they do not have issues sending me monthly bill for another account I have with the company.Desired Settlement: I would like Capital One to send me in writing whether it is via email or the US Postal mailing address they have on file for me the following information:The name of the collections agency that owns my debt. Their contact information. The totally amount owed and the date it was sent to collections. Again I want this information in writing. I am trying very hard to get my finances in order. I just want to make sure I am paying the correct agency.

Review: In August 2015, [redacted] made an unauthorized charge on my business credit card that I do not normally use so I had no statements coming from Capital One. Capital One paperless statement system at this time was apparently not sending me out emails due to apparent presence of incomplete email verification that was (according to one of the customer service representatives at Capital One) due to Capital One website update.

Capital One never sent the statement that contained the unauthorized charge by [redacted] and the payment of around $18.30 was missed. Next month, during a routine log-in, I discovered that normally zero balance was changed to reflect [redacted] charges as well as a late payment and interest. I contacted Capital One to prompt them about the statement email issue and they confirmed the error and agreed to fully credit all interest charges and fees.

A few months after, while I was checking my personal credit, I discovered that Capital one has reported a 30-day late payment to all credit agencies that caused my credit score to drop from above 800 to around 760. I contacted Capital One to correct this error with credit agencies since the report they have made to credit agencies was inherently inaccurate. The charge was unauthorized, statement was not sent due to system problems at Capital One, and the late fees and interest was removed due to the above errors. Capital One refused to report to credit agencies that the 30-day late payment was due to their error and not mine.My complaint concerns: a Credit CardDesired Settlement: I request that Capital One revise the September 2015 statement as fully paid, since the charge was unauthorized and the statement was never sent due to system problems at Capital One, and the late fees and interest was removed due to the above errors. I was never responsible for any of the charge that occurred in August 2015 on this Capital One account and therefore cannot be held responsible for the resulting late payment record. I further request that Capital One contact all consumer and business credit agencies to dispute the credit record, report that the late payment was in their error, and request all credit agencies to change credit record from 30-day late to OK status.

Review: I have written more than three certified letters to the above specified Co. who put incorrect information based on the amount of money they claimed I owed on the credit card they issued. Even though, I strongly disagreed and disputed for the long time that I would not pay till they bring or send the evidence of my use of this credit card for purchase. They failed to provide me the detail of purchases or statements for my use. I finally made the payments just to get rid off this claim so it doesn't affect my credit. I went ahead and paid in installment every penny they asked for, yet I haven't got any justice to present me with any kind of statement for the amount they claimed as a total of $1394 and also their unwillingness to get this out of my record. Just because it still on my record, my credit score us well as my credit worthiness is highly affecting me. Please help me by asking them to provide me with the full detail of my purchase statements.Thank you,

Review: Capital one bank is inaccurately reporting to [redacted]. A debt owed has been paid since 2/18/2009 and it is still being reported as not paid. I want it removed from [redacted]. Review: They have INCORRECTLY applied CHECKS WITH INSTRUCTION letter INCLUDED to be applied to PRINCIPAL PAYMENT ONLY. Instead they apply as regular payments and keep taking interest. Their excuse is "Well that is just our processing center. They can do it wrong sometimes." WOW! Way to go for taking responsibility and I have to BABYSIT my transactions. If you call in to apply a PRINCIPAL ONLY payment...they send you an EMAIL that doesn't state EXACTLY WHAT the payment is for and you are left with nothing but HOPE that they apply it correctly. RIDICULOUS and unethical. They are applying my EXTRA PAYMENT-PRINCIPAL ONLY payments INCORRECTLY every time. I want a RECEIPT for their over the phone billing option to be correct and stating EXACTLY what business was conducted over the phone.Complaint concerns: an Auto LoanDesired Settlement: I want a FULL report of ALL transactions EVER processed on my account. I want a letter from them stating that they COMPLY with the fair credit act.

Review: My account was charged several times by [redacted]. The bank never noted me that there was a issue with my account. I have never had anything bounce and I have never had multiple transacions of the same thing post to my account with out my knowledge. I called the bank and the reps were not helpful at all. They did not ensure my bills were paid. Were not willing to release the holds. So not only was [redacted] allowed to constantly charge my card and get the money. There were allowed to maintain a large hold resulting in about $1000 in transactions. My passport check was returned as a result of this issue and no one called saying there was a issue. I was told to put more money in the account out of my savings. The rep Julian played rap music in the background as I tried to rectify the situation. It was unprofessional and just rude. I asked for his manager and he said there was no one above him but a email address. As of now all my funds are tied up in pending transactions and transaction you all authorized multiple times for [redacted]. The [redacted] said I couldnt do anything because they don't see the transactions on their end. I am the custome r and have been a member of the bank since 2007 with no issues. My complaint concerns: a Banking Account (Checking)Desired Settlement: I want a speedy research into the fradulent charges. I want all pending charges by [redacted] and [redacted] released. I want advocacy for the refund of the money owed to my by [redacted]. This is fraud. Review: In 2008 I paid this company off through a debt consolidation loan through my employer. A letter was sent with the payoff from my bank authorizing the payoff and closing of the account. The balance paid to them during this time aligned with what was reporting with the credit bureau at the time as well. About 6 months later I was hospitalized due to pregnancy and had moved, not hearing anything from this company all this time. Some time during me being in the hospital they had sent a bill to me and my husband paid them $10 to satisfy them not knowing that we didnt owe them anything as they had already been paid in full. Once I found out they were still on my credit report showing that I still owed them a balance, 2 years and 2 pregnancies later, I called customer service to try and resolve this issue. At that time I got a very unpleasant rep who called me a liar after I told him I had been pregnant for 2 yrs and had not noticed that they were still saying I owed them money. We got into a very heated conversation because he just kept saying I was a liar about my own life. I work in the finance industry and customer service is a huge part of that. Their employee for sure needs some guidance. I have disputed this item for quite some time now and have gotten nowhere. I need this removed from my credit bureau as they have been paid off since 2008, they're the only thing hurting my good credit standing and i'm ready to take this to the next level to get this fixed. it's sad that it's over a measly $500, which after they charged interest and late fees they're now reporting over $1000 which still is a very small amt in the realm of the real world. This needs removed immediately.Desired Settlement: This needs removed from my credit bureaus asap.

I was in the hospital in January 09, then credit limit on that account maxed at $500, even if I had been making purchases on the account which I do not recall, I have attempted to contact this company many times in attempt to get this cleared up. The balance they're reporting to credit bureaus is in extreme excess of the Amt of credit available. The company should have been able to get this figured out with me years ago.

Review: I [redacted] got into serious financial problems and several years ago I was not able to make any payments on account #[redacted]... I explained that to all credit card companies and I attempted to make small payments but was denied that request. I made payment arrangements with the collection company that bought out this debt, but yet Capital one continues to get into Credit Report dispute battles with me over a debt, that was already paid to them after they ruled it a charge off and sold it off to Portfolio Recovery. I am very sorry for all the trouble I caused over this account, It was never in my plans to go unemployed during that 2010 year and no one was willing to work with me. Thank You in advance for taking care of this matter and again I am very sorry. If I owe anything else, please send me any and all information please, thank You for being understanding.Desired Settlement: I am requesting that this account #[redacted] to be removed/deleted from my credit reports. Review: Capital One Reference number: [redacted] The purpose of this complaint is to outline my inability to resolve a simple request with Capital One Services, LLC.

A few years ago I had a credit card with Capital One Services, LLC (card number ends in [redacted]. I wrote customer service numerous letters a few months ago requesting the last 12 months of payment history prior to the closure of this account under the Fair And Accurate Transactions Act of 2003.

Capital One has never sent me the requested last twelve months of payment history.

Instead they have informed me that the account has been transferred to another company.

They have also falsely claimed that I have disputed the account with them which is not true.

I have written numerous letters to them and they either say they no longer service this account or that …”We’ve verified that the information on your credit report matches the information in our records.”

I have again requested the last 12 months of payment history and if they are unable to send those records to me then they need to simply state that and they need to inform the credit bureaus that they contacted erroneously that there is no current dispute.Desired Settlement: I am requesting the last 12 months payment history for account number ending in xxxxxx[redacted].

If Capital One is NO LONGER able to provide that information then I want to have a letter stating

this sent to me.

Finally, there is NO dispute on my part with any third party such as the credit bureaus and/or the current

servicer of this account. Since Capital One has falsely indicated a dispute then they need to correct that error

with the parties they sent the false information to and send me a copy of the letter and/or email correcting the

record.

Thank You

Review: I have a credit card with capital one.

My statement for august and September of 2015 were sent to wrong e mail address due to which I missed those payments. I was alerted by the credit bureaus and called capital one. They had made an error and sent my statements to a wrong email address. The error was corrected and my late fees were reversed and was promised that that there wouldn't be any payments reported to the bureaus since the statements were sent to the wrong email. I was told, however, that it would take the bureaus from 30 to sixty days to correct the late payment history to never late status.I just checked my report today and it is still being reported as 30 days late in September 2015.Desired Settlement: I want my credit card to be reported to the credit bureaus as never late according to the promise from capital one as I had not received statement for that month. Thanks
