Dear Revdex.com,
Thank you for taking the time to contact CheapTickets.com regarding an issue from our customer.  We appreciate the Revdex.com allowing us to address the comments and concerns which have been brought to our attention.  CheapTickets.com is disheartened the customer felt their concerns were not resolved adequately by our company prior to seeking further actions from you.
CheapTickets.com is responding to the consumer complaint from Caitlin R [redacted] (Revdex.com case number 11186558) regarding flight reservations. We understand the customer is requesting a refund in the amount of $271.00.
Our records indicate on February 29, 2016, the customer booked flight and hotel vacation package reservations – itinerary [redacted] – using the self-service tool on the Cheap Tickets website. Travel is on [redacted] Airlines, departing March 11, 2016, from Los Angeles, California to Las Vegas, Nevada, returning March 12, 2016, for two passengers. Hotel accommodations are at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino, checking in March 11, 2016, for one night. The Cheap Tickets package protection was booked in conjunction with the vacation package reservations, for the total booking amount of $275.11.
Upon further research, we were able to confirm on March 3, 2016, the customer contacted Cheap Tickets to inquire about making changes to their vacation package reservations. The assisting representative advised that the customer may contact [redacted] Airlines to inquire about voiding their flight reservations and rebook new reservations, as Cheap Tickets does not have access to make changes or cancellation to low cost carriers, such as [redacted] Airlines.  The customer was advised that the Cheap Tickets package protection would cover the cost of the change fees incurred by the airlines; however, the customer would have to pay the airline imposed change fees and submit receipts for reimbursement. The Cheap Tickets package protection does not cover the cost of any increases in airfare or additional room nights.
On March 4, 2016, Cheap Tickets cancelled and refunded the customer’s Cheap Tickets package protection in the amount of $70.00, per the customer’s request. The time it takes to receive a refund depends on how quickly the customer’s credit card company takes to process refunds, generally 3-7 days.
The actual cost of the airline ticket was charged by the carrier directly, in this case [redacted] Airlines. Cheap Tickets serves as a third party agency for travel providers such as hotels, car rental agencies, and airlines; as such we must abide by and enforce the terms and conditions set forth by our partners. We act only as an agent for their product and do not have the authority to override or to change their policies.
We strongly recommend to our customers who choose to book their travel on their own to carefully review the details of the trip as well as the fare rules or cancellation policies and to call us immediately if there are any discrepancies or additional questions before purchasing the itinerary.  It is our customers’ responsibility to review all rules and regulations prior to booking any travel.
We have further researched Ms. [redacted]’s complaint and after giving the matter our full consideration we stand by our previous decision and are unable to render to Ms  [redacted]’s request of a refund.
We regret that our response cannot be more favorable and hope that, despite the customer’s recent experience, she will continue to use Cheap Tickets for her future travel arrangements, thereby allowing us the opportunity to restore her faith in our company.  We trust our position in this regard has now been clarified.
If you have any further questions or concerns regarding this matter, please feel free to contact us.
Sincerely,
Nicole [redacted]

The agent that assisted the customer immediately voided the customers flights. Since the flights were successfully voided within 24 hours of purchase, the authorization of $185.20 should have been released back to the customers card. These authorizations typically release within 24-48 hours. Our records also reflect a $25 coupon that was applied to the customer’s account on July 10, 2016. I am rejecting this response because: your website did not advertise this insurance as "vacation waiver".  It advertised it as cancel for any reason.  This false advertising led me to believe that I could get reimbursed "for any reason." That is why I purchased said insurance in the first place.
Sincerely,

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
As previously stated, a CheapTickets.com representative did attempt to contact me via phone on May 25th, 2016.  I was not able to answer the call and the representative left a voicemail.  This voicemail did not leave any phone number or any other way to contact them, nor did it offer any sort of resolution.  The representative simply stated that they were attempting to contact me regarding this complaint.  No other information was given.
After reviewing my step-by-step booking process, I am able to confirm that I did not book a connecting flight in Washington D.C., as CheapTickets.com has stated.
Sincerely,

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2014/05/23) */
Dear [redacted]
The Revdex.com has shared your recent correspondence with Orbitz so that we may assist you further. I understand you confirmed a package on our website. A few days later, you found the price of the package had...

decreased. You are a requesting, we refund the package so you can rebook at the lower rate or issue a refund for the rate difference. I appreciate the opportunity to review your account and respond to your concerns. On behalf of CheapTickets, I sincerely apologize for the disappointing experience and the frustration this caused you.
After reviewing your account, I show your package reservation confirmed for June 27, 2014. Your CheapTickets package record locator [redacted] was priced based on your selections using the lowest airfare, car and hotel rates available to CheapTickets on the date of your booking. Regrettably, CheapTickets is unable to issue any partial refunds for a lower package rate that may have become available due to changing supplier availability or rates. These rates are determined directly by the venders, and can be updated at any time throughout the day, with or without notice.
Unfortunately, we are unable to issue a refund, because the package is non-refundable. However, as a gesture of our goodwill, CheapTickets has issued you a $250 USD future travel voucher to use on your next CheapTickets.com booking. Our voucher is meant to emphasize our commitment to you, and we remain hopeful you will continue using CheapTickets for your travel planning needs. Here are the instructions for the future travel voucher:
When you make your next booking on CheapTickets.com, please forward a copy of the 'CheapTickets Travel Document' e-mail to us at[redacted]. Please reference case number [redacted] and my e-mail offering the $250 future travel voucher in your request. CheapTickets will then issue a credit to the card used for the new booking. This offer is valid for one year from the date of this letter, until May 23, 2015.
[redacted] we appreciate your business, and we hope to have an opportunity to serve you in the future with your travel planning needs.
Sincerely,

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Dear[redacted]
I appreciate the response however I am not satisfied with your offer to resolve my complaint. I would expect a company in your business to offer the best deal possible and have price match guarantee, especially for a customer who is spending over $5000 of his or her money with your business. I am having a tough time accepting your explanation of the price changes all being controlled by your vendors. As a company in your business I would think you have a lot more leverage in getting the best deal possible from your vendors due to the volume of your business with them. It also does not make any sense to get a worse deal and being penalized for booking more in advance.
I would still hope your company does the right thing and offer something more inline with my loss of close to $1000 for booking my travel a few days more in advance.
Regards,
[redacted]

Dear [redacted]
The Revdex.com has shared your recent correspondence with CheapTickets so that we may assist you further. Thank you for your follow-up response.
Please know I understand when your package was booked this was the lowest rate offered at the time of booking. With your reservation being booked as a package, CheapTickets is unable to verify if the hotel or airline may have decreased in price. If the price of the package increases, CheapTickets does not charge you more.
When your package was booked you were charged by [redacted] for you flights, and CheapTickets charged you for the hotel and car rental. However,[redacted] will charge CheapTickets in full. Unfortunately, we are unable to issue a refund, because the package is non-refundable.
However, I show as a gesture of our goodwill, CheapTickets issued you a $250 USD future travel voucher to use on your next CheapTickets.com booking. I will increase the voucher to $300. Our voucher is meant to emphasize our commitment to you, and we remain hopeful you will continue using CheapTickets for your travel planning needs. Here are the instructions for the future travel voucher:

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/03/23) */
Dear Mr.[redacted]
The Revdex.com has shared your recent correspondence pertaining to the change fees associated with an airline ticket. I appreciate the opportunity to review your account and respond to your concerns. My...

understanding is that you purchased an airline ticket on January 1, 2015 for travel on Delta Airlines. You canceled the booking on January 27, 2015 due to personal circumstances. You contacted CheapTickets on March 21, 2015 to use the flight credit and rebook the trip. Our agent informed you that there is a $200.00 airline change fee and a $75.00 CheapTickets change fee, which basically wipes out any residual value.
On behalf of CheapTickets, I apologize for the inconvenience. When you purchase a restricted fare type, there are penalties associated with that ticket type. The $200.00 change fee is established bv Delta Airlines. That fee applies for a nonrefundable ticket, which this was. Even if the fare had been $75.00, Delta would still assess a $200.00 change fee, and CheapTickets collects a $75.00 service fee. It does not vary according to the cost of the original ticket. Conversely, if your original ticket had cost $800.00, you would have had $600.00 residual credit available, and CheapTickets would assess the $75.00 exchange fee. Since the change fee is established by the carrier as part of the fare rules, CheapTickets, as an agent for the airline must adhere to these fees, we are not in a position to waive them.
Mr.[redacted] please be assured that your business is appreciated; however, we are unable to offer a refund or waiver of fees on this ticket.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

I don't agree with how CheapTickets.com response to my situation! Policy changes should be made in regards to refunds or cancellations. Considering that travel is a billion dollar industry, each customers problem should be judged on a case by case basis. I will not be using or referring anyone to use this site.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2015/03/27) */
Dear Mr.[redacted]
We regret your continued disappointment. Since you have contacted us again, you clearly feel strongly about these issues. As I explained previously, the $200.00 change fee was established by Delta, not by CheapTickets. Since we are acting as an agent for them, we must apply these fees to the reissue of tickets, we are not in a position to waive them.
Mr.[redacted] we have given this matter every consideration and at the same time, provided you a detailed response regarding it. We regret the enduring unhappiness with our service. As we have evidently reached an impasse, there will be no further replies forthcoming from our office regarding this issue.

On 03/21/16 my girlfriend and I purchased a vacation package(roundtrip airfare and hotel for us both) for may 25-june3 2016 to Bali. We have our confirmation number and itinerary from them to show the details. 2 days later she checked her account and found she had received most of the funds back in her account. No emails or phone calls. She called their service number and spoke to a few employees, was on hold for about 3 hours total, only to be told at the time of our booking, cheaptickets did not actually book out airline tickets. 24 hours later the price had increased drastically, but instead of fixing their mistake they refunded the amount we paid them for the airfare. They offered to reserve the same seats on the same flight for us at that point, but for the new elevated price. We refused, and demanded a full refund. They then told us they would have to talk to the hotel to approve this refund, even though we now have no flight to or leaving Bali to work with the hotel reservation time frame. The cheaptickets then charged us cancellation fees for this whole thing!! They failed to do their job, and follow through with their side of our contract, then had the nerve to blame/charge us for penalties! This is fraudulent business practice!! We entered a contract for services, they not only didn't provide the services they were hired for, they waited 24 hours to even try, then when they realized they could charge more they tried to bully us into giving them more money to either continue with our trip, or cancel what was left! This is outrageous, deceptive, manipulative, fraudulent and should be illegal! If we had not checked ourselves, we would have shown up at the ticket counter on the day of our leave with our bags packed and confirmation number in hand only to find out there was no trip! Do not use this service!

Dear Ms[redacted]
Thank you for contacting CheapTickets. The Revdex.com has shared your recent correspondence pertaining a requested hotel booking through go-seek for the Snooze hotel. I appreciate the opportunity to respond...

to your concerns. My understanding was that you were trying to book a room reservation at the Snooze Hotel on the go seek website for the rate of $116.00. You also show a pending charge of $662.67 from CheapTickets.
On behalf of CheapTickets, I apologize for the inconvenience. I did check, and Orbitz and Cheaptickets have no affiliation with Go Seek; that is a totally separate company. You would need to go to their website to request any information regarding this booking. Their web address is www.goseek.com. Your account on both Orbitz and CheapTickets does not show any current bookings. If you can please email a copy of your bank or credit card statement showing the pending charge, I will investigate further.
Thank you for reaching out to us in this matter.

I should have read these reviews prior to booking with cheap tickets! My trip is almost a month away so I thought I would get better rates by buying early. Unfortunately I had to cancel my daughters ticket 30 hours after booking it. When I called I was placed on hold forever then told I was too late to be refunded and to change ticket it would be 200 plus 75 dollars to do so. I explained that my daughter is too young to travel alone so I would have to end up buying another ticket anyway. She didn't care and didn't try to offer any solutions to my problem. The original ticket price was just under 300 so I explained that if booked the same ticket it would be double price since they are holding my $300 ticket plus charging me another $275 to change the ticket IF I ever get to use it. Cheap ticket still didn't care nor ask why I had to cancel! With the current economy everyone is trying to save money but these people have now tied up $300 that I may never see again. I would not recommend
