Had to call 5 times to obtain an unlock code for my phone. It started after I noticed on the Cricket "Account Settings", then "Get Unlock Code" website that it showed that I had "0" days to unlock my phone. Because their website said 0 days, I requested that it b

On call #1, they said that they would put in a ticket to provide me with an unlock code (after I told them that their website said 0 more days). They said that they would text me the code. I thanked them and hung up. However, the code never came. The website also changed when I tried to obtain a code again (from saying 0 days to say "Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later.").

On call #2, they said that my phone was activated on 17 March, and that I needed to wait until 6 months to get my unlock code. However, they said that I had to wait until 15 September. I got upset and hung up (not my finest moment)

On call #3 (on 15 September), they said that I had to wait until 17 September to get to 6 months (even though the second person said 15 September). I got pretty heated again, but they shut me down again.

On call #4 (on 17 September), they started out by saying that I had to wait "until tomorrow" (18 September) to get my unlock code.

On call #5 (on 18 September), they stated by saying that I had to wait 6 months. I told them that I it was my 5th call and that I was submitting a Revdex.com complaint. They said it would take another 3-5 business days to get the unlock code (pushing the date to ~23 Sep)

I am not a person who usually gets angry about things. But, the amount of institutionalized barriers to getting unlock codes (despite it being a feature on their website) says that they are trying to create the illusion of consumer choice. Their customer support personnel seemed to be reading a script that merely allowed them to tell the customer that they can't get the code. It makes me believe it is company policy to restrict customers from unlocking their devices.

Desired Outcome

Other (Requires Explaination) An apology, the unlock code for my Stylo 3, and a refund of my last month of service. I made 5 phone calls, totaling almost 2 hours, to do something that should've been allowed from their website. Worse, it seemed like they were purposefully keeping me from unlocking my phone. This is also an FCC violation, as I am meeting their self-established 6-month timeline for unlocking. I will also be submitting a consumer complaint with the FCC.

I still want my apology and a refund for one month of "service" that I contractually was not obligated to pay for.

My phone turns on and stay stuck on the Cricket screen, and I can't make calls because I cannot get to the dial screen. I went into the Cricket Wireless store located at 17029 S. Torrence Ave., Lansing IL. 60438. I enter the store at 6:22PM on 06/25/18. There was one person servicing all the customers. The associate was very rude and disrespectful to while I had waited about 40 minutes while she was servicing another customer. She called a gentle name Lewis I believe, while still servicing the other customer, asking him about my situation. I ask to speak to Lewis and she hand me the telephone. Lewis explained to me that my manufactures warranty was over but that my insurance would replace the phone but that I may have to pay $20 to $40 for the deductible. I guess the young lady in the store filled she had covered her tracks after I spoke with Lewis. At first she stated she could delete all the information in the phone to get it to start back up, and Lewis confirmed that is possible but that I would lose all my data. After getting off the phone with Lewis I ask the young lady to delete all the information so I can use my phone, she refused to delete the data and became very disrespectful in front of the few customers that was in the store. I ask her to provide me her name she spelled it out Emilly, I ask her if she have a last name and she said D. I asked her is D her last name and she stated I am the only Emilly that works here. I went to my car and called the corporate office. I was instructed to get her I.D. number and as I was approaching the door, she stopped serving a customer to run and lock the door, which is was after business hours. I ask her through the door for her I.D. number, and she stated that she did not have one. I went back to my automobile and continued my conversation with the customer service person and explained what she had just done. He apologized to me and provided me the Corporate Office address.

Desired Outcome

Other (Requires Explaination) I had express to Lewis, Emilly, and the customer service representative the importance of my phone because it is a business phone. I would like for Emilly to apologize for her rude and unprofessional service, and I would like for Cricket to hold some responsibility and decide what would be the appropriate action to take to satisfy a loyal customers that had an encounter with an unprofessional and rude employee. I would like to know what actions was taken against the employee, if any.

What information do you need? The complaint is clear regarding the unprofessional and rude employee that service me on the date included in the original complaint. Your employee was unprofessional and rude to me in front of at least four other customers in the store. So, I believe my original complaint was very clear and I am not sure what else it is that your organization/company is asking for, please let me know what it is you want from me. Thank you.

I have a cricket prepaid plan with 5 lines for $125 a month. I have been a customer of Cricket since 2015 and continue to be a regular customer. Recently I purchased 2 moto e5 cruise phones locked to cricket wireless bearing imei numbers 3518 4009 1075 923( this is for line XXX XXX XXXX) and another imei 3521 6810 1017 167 (for my line XXX XXX XXXX). these 2 numbers are part of my family lines on the same account number XXX XXX XXX.
The complaint is about unlocking the devices as I have to travel internationally to India where cricket does not have coverage and hence need to use the devices with other providers. So I contact cricket customer service number of times and they refused to unlock stating cricket policies but did not help escalate this as this is a genuine case of international use where cricket does not have coverage. Also I continue to be a cricket customer with more than 3 years of service and its not like I am trying to run away from cricket after unlock.

Desired Outcome

Other (Requires Explaination) I request cricket to provide me unlock codes for above devices i.e., 3518 4009 1075 923( this is for line XXX XXXXXXX) and another imei 3521 6810 1017 167 (for my line XXX XXXXXXX) a) considering intended use internationally to India where cricket does not have coverage b) For me being an unlimited plan consumer since 2015 c) Update cricket policies to ensure genuine customers like me who are customers for more than a year are accomodated for unlock requests and educate the customer service

I paid for the unlock myself and spent money on the devices. If cricket can compensate me for the unlock amount spent on the unlock which cricket should have done it for me for being an esteemed customer, that will be the most appropriate resolution at this point in time. I spent close to 40 dollars for unlock of these devices i.e., 3518 4009 1075 923( this is for line XXX XXXXXXX) and another imei 3521 6810 1017 167 (for my line XXX XXXXXXX)

Previous Cricket customer. Brought my own device from another carrier (***). Have spoken with Cricket customer service as well as Apple customer service and have gotten nowhere. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Cricket agent advised that I could resume service with them for 6 months to correct the issue. I feel this is the primary reason for them not honoring my request to have this device unlocked.

I paid my bill before the due date as I was not sure how long Safelink would take to provide service for me. When the phone arrive befroe the cricket due date, I attempted to cancel the cricket phone service.
While in the cricket store to cancel the service, I was told that cricket did not give refunds. This forced me to have service I no-longer wanted and I was not under any contract! Even after the prepaid billing cycle, I continued to get bills for the next 2-billing cycles. I feel that the policy of cricket to not refund money paid in good faith is WRONG! Don't they get enough extra money from people whom cannot pay their due bill by the billing date? Even I, was late paying my bill on one occasion and paid a late fee.

I would like to start out saying I have been lied to by Cricket Wireless since I started service. I was told I would have great service at my address, which I do not. I get LTE but can't even make or receive calls. My most recent complaint is, my most recent phone was broken just the other day to an extent that I could not even use it. I contacted cricket not once but twice about switching my service to another phone that I already owned. Well, the first time I spoke to them over the phone, I was told that due to my account being in "bridgepay" I couldn't switch my line to another device I asked to speak to a supervisor and was accidentally disconnected. So I figured I would contact them again later and speak to them via the chat within the "MyCricket app". I spoke to an agent who told me the same thing the last did and I asked to speak to a supervisor yet again. This time I did speak to a supervisor. They proceeded to tell me the exact same thing the previous agents told me that I couldnt "upgrade" while on bridgepay, but their definition of "upgrade" is activating a NEW device, however the one I have is an older device that I've had for a while. I told the agent it wasn't right that I would still have to pay for the days I couldnt use my phone and she agreed to add a $15 credit to my account after the Bridgepay is lifted. I did a little research for myself online and found a forum talking about switching service from one cricket phone to the other by just swapping out the sim card. So I tried that and it works fine. I'm tired of being lied to by a company that I am loyal to and that I pay good money to EVERY month for their service and have NEVER had my account suspended or even terminated.
Account_Number: XXX-XXX-XXXX

Desired Outcome

Other (Requires Explaination) I wish to be contacted by the business to discuss a desirable settlement.

I did receive the $15 credit as mentioned above... However my resolution would be to receive a device to boost the signal of my cell phone. They lied to me when I first started service, also as mentioned above, or I would have never switched companies.

I bought and paid for 4 new phones and lines. When my girlfriend tried to use her phone in the store she noticed it would not stay on. The phone would go into sleep mode before 8 seconds. She asked for a new one and was told it was the last one they had and it can be fixed in the settings. we have tried for a week to change the settings as well as down load apps. Nothing has helped. I have called customer service several times and been hung up on as well as left on hold till I hung up. I was told today I had 7 days to take it back to the store to get a new one. Today is the 8th day. They never said I could do that. They now want me to use my insurance to replace the phone. It was broke when I bought it and I am not paying for insurance to fix their broken phone.
Product_Or_Service: Nokia /3.1 plus/unlimited
Account_Number: XXX-XXX-XXXX

Desired Outcome

Other (Requires Explaination) I not only want the phone replaced but I want a new wireless charger and earphones to go with it. I have spent too much time trying to get them to fix this. They never once told me I could take it back to the store or I would have. They waited till the day after my 7 days was up to tell me. They have cost me too much time at this point. If they can not do this then I want this to show as a negative mark on their Revdex.com rating.

I asked will I be getting a refund? Kevin S. Said "Due to our policy, On cancelling a account the refunds are not processed that is why we suggest to cancel the account on the end of the cycle. I said to him I need my $60.00 back now! Kevin S. said" I am afaid to say but we are authorized to refund the for canceled account". If there were somthing else he could help with.

My cricket account has been hacked. My network dropped one day, I called cricket and they told me my IMEI was connected to a new sim card. While that happened someone was using my phone number to text and access my bank accounts. I got a new sim, activated it on my phone, used it for a few hours when my network dropped again, I called cricket, my account had a new sim connected to a new IMEI. I asked all activity be stopped on my account and my pay turned off. The next day, my account was re-activated and my card charged for the month. I called cricket, asked to remove card info and disable the account again. Managers were not able to close my account, there is no fraud department, and no consumer protection, no security checks( all they said :COMPANY POLICY- WE CANNOT HELP). Someone in their system keeps re-activating my account, bypassing *** and security( all the managers were able to say was that it was done at a cricket store, no other info) Spent numerous hours on the phone with no resolution or better understanding.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I did not state that the case has been resolved. I do not agree with this characterization. I stated that, given Cricket's lack of corroborative evidence, I did not see what else they could do for me. That does not mean the case is "resolved."

I believe a true resolution calls for a 3rd party independent investigation of Cricket and its internal practices and methodology in handling issues related to identity theft. Due to the fact that Revdex.com delayed the handling of this complait, all the phone recordings with Cricket have been erased. Therefore, an investigator now needs to get Cricket to cooperate in establishing an investigation in which a SIMULATED situation such as ours gets played out with its representatives, so as to see first hand how they further victimize those who are already victims of identity theft.

Went in to Cricket store on Bellview and Wadsworth in Littleton, CO on 2/1/19, to transfer service from Tmobile. Worked with Katie. I told her I had tmobile but wanted to switch to cricket since it was cheaper. She proceeded to get my information, phone number, name, address. She created an account for me, ported my number to cricket, gave me a SIM card, had me pay 92.78 including first month service, activation fee, and sim card fee plus tax. I paid cash. She proceeded to put the sim card in to my phone and said oh no, is your phone unlocked? I didn't know what that meant. She said it has to be unlocked to be able to transfer carriers. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE FIRST QUESTION SHE ASKED BEFORE SHE DID ANYTHING. Her manager, Jeremy, told me to call tmobile and have them "network unlock" my phone which could take 24-72 hours. I did so, left the store, at about 930, I had no service on my phone because my phone number was ported to Cricket, I was out of a working phone all night, I receive an email around 8am from Tmobile, regarding my unlock request and they said they COULD NOT unlock my phone because I have an outstanding bill with tmobile. I went back to the same cricket store, requested a refund and was told I could not receive the refund that I was pretty much SOL. I am now out of 92.78, which I couldn't afford in the first place, and I had to pay my existing phone bill and had to get a new number because tmobile would not help me port my number back from Cricket. This has been a mess, I am not paying 92.78 for services that I can't even use, this was the employees fault that she did not check that my phone was unlocked before charging me and now I cannot use their services. I went to the same location for a refund, was denied a refund, called Cricket customer service and they also told me they could not refund me my money. I paid cash so now I cannot even dispute it with my bank. They are thieves and something needs to be done.

Desired Outcome

Other (Requires Explaination) I want a refund of my 92.78 after the headache and disastrous mess. I have no use for their services as i am using tmobile since i cannot use cricket. I even have a new phone number.

This correspondence is in response to a complaint filed by *** regarding Cricket Wireless. In her complaint, Ms. states that in November 2017 she purchased a Cricket phone. Since then, she has been trying to get the device unlock without success. She is now based in the UK and is requesting we assist her by unlocking her device.

Cricket's Device Policy requires customers to meet the following requirements prior to unlocking their device:

The device has been active for at least six (6) months of paid service.
The device is designed for use on and is currently locked to Cricket's network.
The device hasn't been reported as lost or stolen.
The device isn't associated with a fraudulent account.

After reviewing Ms. request, we found that the Alcatel One touch with IMEI number: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX, purchased on December 9, 2017 did not meet the requirement to be unlock. Our records show, the device in question was active with Cricket service for a month and 3 days.

We contacted Ms. via e-mail and explained the aforementioned. She advised that the device was won in a raffle and would like us to provide the unlock code.

We made an exception and overrode our device's unlock policy. We provided Ms. with the unlock code via e-mail.

We thank Ms. for her communication and trust that this explanation properly addresses her concern.

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
The issue was resolved after complaint filed. Satisfied that it was corrected without any further incident. Thank you

On March 29, 2019 I've purchased a new Samsung Halo at Cricket in Tustin. The clerk activated the phone, applied the screen protector and assembled the case. She offered insurance by an extra $7. I paid that and all seem ok when she gave me the phone.
When I got home, about fifteen minutes later, the resolucion degraded, it looked pixelated, and very tiny lines shown on the screen, horizontal stable lines from top to bottom.
The store was closed so I went back on April 1 to have the phone check. The clerk reset the settings but she could not fix the lines
Then she made calls and gave me two choices.
.Pay an additional $75 and make a claim through the insurance
.Or wait 7 days to make a claim to Samsung warranty.
I asked about their Return Policy, but she rejected the phone immediately claiming is was defective cause it had a Mess Up Screen.

I called Customer service to explain the terms of the Return Policy and they agreed the phone qualifies for return being within 7 days with complete packaging and in Like New conditions having no signs of physical abuse, wear and tear, or liquid damage or anything that would void manufacturer's warranty.
So they advise me to go back to the store.

Back at the store the clerk rejected it again, saying it was ok when she gave it to me.
So I call back Customer Service and they talk to the her but still she decided to ignore Cricket's return policy and disregard what Customer Service indicated.
They couldn't believe, nevertheless they said they would help by sending another phone thru Warranty.
I got transfer to Warranty and I explained my situation again and they also couldn't believe it. This Cricket store wouldn't take the phone back. So they talked to the clerk, but she refused flat out. Later, Warranty offered a refurbished phone, but I said no because I paid for a new phone and I should get nothing less.

Desired Outcome

Other (Requires Explaination) I paid for a new phone and I thing I shouldn't get nothing less but a new phone or get me my money back. This Store should honor the terms of thier return policy. Why is it that this store wants me to do nothing till the 7 days past so that I wouldn't have any recourse to returned it. Why should I be affected if their selling bad phones What kind of guarantee I have that the phone their selling is new. BE AWARE OF THIS STORE, You might be getting refurbished phones.

The store swapped the bad phone with a new one.
Thank you.

I bought my phone and service from Cricket 8/6/2018 (imei: XXXX XXXXXXX XXXX). I have the original receipt. That phone was found to have a swollen battery and was serviced by 'Apple West County' (phone:XXX XXX XXXX) on 9/9/2018, who replaced the phone with (imei: XXXX XXXXXXX XXXX). Apple Support Case:XXXX XXXX XXXX, Repair: R XXXX XXXXX. This was verified by Cricket, but they refuse to release their Carrier Lock on the phone, stating the device came from Cricket on 9/10/2018 and had not had continuous service for six months as of 3/5/2019. Even though the phone is listed in their system as a 'bring-your-own-phone', when they insert the imei, it shows the carrier lock was applied anyway and it "does not meet the rules outlined in Cricket's unlock eligibility policy." I have met the requirements from my original date of purchase and it is unlawful for Cricket to keep my phone locked to their service beyond the six months from date of original purchase and activation 8/6/2018.

When I had called before and was told the phone was a byop and not locked. I then purchased service with Verizon. Now I have already paid for Verizon service and Cricket required me to purchase another week of service for $15 before I could be eligible to be unlocked. They refuse to unlock the phone until then.

Desired Outcome

Other (Requires Explaination) I would like Cricket to release their unlawful carrier lock on my iphone and refund the $15 they charged for another week of service and also pay $30 in restitution for the amount I have already paid for new service that they are keeping me from using with Verizon.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I don't think we need to keep repeating ourselves anymore. Cricket Wireless did not reimburse me for the extra time they charged me, beyond my contractual obligation. Until they compensate me for their own mix-up and unlawful holding of the lock on my phone beyond my obligation, they are not offering any resolution, and thus none can be accepted. People need to be informed about this, and their company should be rated accordingly.

careful if you switch, I did on sept 7th from AT&T. brought all my phones. must have gone into the store 10 times asking questions.. basically just found out today I was LIED to. just found out my wifes Samsung Galaxy S7 and Daughters LG X Venture dont have the hot spot turned on as I had asked for them to be. Called the worthless customer service and then after hearing what they told me went back to the store. Told now none of my phones from AT&T can have the hotspot turned on. INSANE. Asked all of this before.. then told Oh you are out of the 7 day refund period and I need to upgrade those to new phones. Ticked off is putting it mildly. I have been so happy with the service as it is AT&T towers and all. But do not like being LIED to. Do not like Cricket not fixing their mess up. Will now be an advocate for against Cricket. Also will copy and paste this to my facebook and other media sites as I know they will remove an honest experience they have turned so very sour for their business practices

Cricket Wireless Response • Jun 29, 2019

This correspondence is in response to a complaint filed by *** regarding her Cricket Wireless service. In his complaint, Ms. states that she bought a phone thru our Cricket Wireless website and did not have the coverage she expected in terms of wireless network coverage.

We researched Ms. account and found that she had our services from November 12th, 2018 until February 6th, 2019. There were no notes on file to support a complaint about services issues in her areas of complaint (home address on file). We then researched the coverage per home address on file (as well as surrounding areas) and saw no network/coverage issues. The telephone number on file is currently cancelled and we were unable to reach the customer to relay our policies below. However, we will not be able to credit the customer for services used during that time.

Coverage is not guaranteed. The customer is in a 4G LTE area, with good to moderate service. There may be periods where connections are slow due to congestion. As a Cricket Wireless customer, agreement to our Terms and Conditions begins with using or attempting to use our services and/or paying for services. Highlighted under Cricket Wireless' Terms and Conditions (see https://www.cricketwireless.com/terms),
"Availability of Service and Coverage" details the following:
"Availability of Service and Coverage Services may be interrupted, delayed, or otherwise limited for a variety of reasons, including environmental conditions, unavailability of radio frequency channels, system capacity and constraints, priority access by National Security and Emergency Preparedness personnel in the event of a disaster or emergency, coordination with other systems, equipment modifications and repairs, and problems with the facilities of interconnecting carriers. We do not guarantee the availability of the wireless network or any Wireless Services. You must be in the Cricket coverage area to place or receive calls. To see coverage, click here. Coverage maps, available on our website or in store, show a high-level approximation of wireless coverage and there are gaps in coverage not shown by this approximation; actual coverage may vary and be affected by terrain, weather, foliage, buildings, signal strength, high-usage periods, customer equipment and other factors. We do not guarantee coverage and our maps do not show actual network coverage or performance."

We thank Ms. for her communication and trust that this explanation properly addresses her concern.
