 Complaint: 10431670
I am rejecting this response because:
Dear reviewers:
DC Singles and I did speak about terms to negotiate a mutually acceptable release. I did receive a written release, which stipulates that I consult counsel to review. I have consulted my attorney, and we have some modifications to the terms. Those modifications will be delivered to DC Singles via email (as was their communication method with me) by Monday, March 23. If the terms are mutually acceptable between both parties, we will have reached a solution and I will post as much on this website. Until then, it is not resolved.
Regards,
[redacted]

 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: The discussion entailed a 'resolution' which did not materialize, which further substantiates and supports my original complaint for service and the true lack of African American males currently available in their system.Further, I was told that someone would contact me to discuss new terms and I was never contacted. This has been an experience of lack of service, and misrepresentation about the service specific to what I paid for when I originally met with the company.  In short, I should have been honestly told that the service would not be a good fit me and meet my expectation.  That is how good business is supposed to be conducted.  Poor business practices do whatever, and say anything to simply close a sale and get the money.  Unfortunately, this was this case.

To Whom It May Concern,
Please note that we have
since communicated with [redacted] after she filed her complaint. She is
an active client in our system and just had a recent date through us. [redacted]
is having trouble logging into her account, but we are...

trying to remedy this
situation.We understand that [redacted]
was frustrated not being able to log into her account online. Please know that
we did not “lock her out of her account”. There appears to be an issue with her
password. We have been able to log in on behalf of [redacted]. Also, we have
absolutely been in contact with [redacted] and have returned various phone
calls. Our records show that we returned calls that [redacted] has made to us.
Our records also show that we even reached out to [redacted] in the beginning of
her program on two separate occasions asking her to complete her profile and we
called [redacted] a couple times after her first match, because we had not
received feedback from [redacted] (which is required of our clients, so that we
can resume the search process for them and provide their next match). Feedback
is crucial in our program, because it helps us to refine our search and come
closer to what our clients are looking for.Once [redacted] completed
her feedback on 2/12, we resumed the search for a new match. [redacted] has
received 2 matches thus far and we are going to be searching for a new one very
soon, once she completes her newest feedback. [redacted] notified us via e-mail
that she did meet her most recent match that was provided to her on 3/24. We
have been communicating back and forth via e-mail with her and left her a voice
message recently. Please note that our
Regulations explain that we will search on [redacted]’s behalf on a monthly
basis, however, we cannot predict the time frame and/or frequency of
referrals/matches. We have to be sure that we are only matching [redacted] with
those who are compatible with her, according to their profiles. We do not want
to match [redacted] with just anyone in order to fulfill referrals. Sometimes it
can take longer periods of time in between matches, however, we will continue
working for [redacted] until all of her purchased matches have been fulfilled.
It is also important for our clients to complete their date feedback in a
timely manner.Everything has been right
on schedule for [redacted] and we are continuing to work on her behalf. We ask
that she contacts us back, so that we can help her log in and discuss any
concerns she may have. She has agreed, per her signed client obligation form,
to discuss any issues directly with our staff. We want nothing more than to
move forward in a positive direction with [redacted].Also, [redacted]’s desired resolution is a refund, but her contract
clearly states under paragraphs #2 and #13 that the Client fee is
NON-REFUNDABLE. Therefore, we were advised to request that this case please be
closed as Beyond Purview, because the consumer’s contract clearly shows that
the fee is non-refundable.
We have included a copy of
[redacted]’s contract. We are looking forward to continuing our business
relationship with [redacted].
Regards,DC Singles

To Whom It May Concern,
We would like to apologize for the delayed response. We recently spake with **, [redacted]. We expressed our desire-to move forward in a positive direction and get his program back on the right track. However, **. [redacted] declined, but he...

said he will not pursue this further with the Revdex.com. We have resolved this with **. [redacted] directly. We greatly appreciate your time.

5/18/15
To Whom It May Concern,
We are surprised to receive a “rejection” to our letter, as
we believed everything had been resolved with [redacted].Please know that we have been in communication during the
course of [redacted]’s program and we did reach out to her when we received her
complaint, because we wanted to address and resolve her concerns right away.
We have only matched [redacted] with men who have been most
mutually compatible with her, according to their profiles. We use preferences
as a guideline for matching and use our best judgment when providing referrals.
We try our best to come as close as possible to what our clients are looking
for.
According to [redacted]’s feedback, she enjoyed meeting her
first match. She stated that they had a lot in common, but she wasn’t sure if
she was attracted to him. She wanted us to resume our search for her so she
would weigh her options, but she was going to have a second date with him.
[redacted] did not agree to meet her second match, due to
certain criteria details. When we spoke with [redacted] after her second referral,
we listened to her feedback on the match and assured her that we were not
disregarding her preferences. [redacted] spoke of certain characteristics that
were very important to her in a match and we made note of this information. We
told her that it may take some time, but we would be sure that these certain
preferences are met. [redacted] then came into our office and spoke with the
Relationship Specialist who interviewed her when she joined our program. The
Specialist simply asked [redacted] to keep an open mind and she agreed.
[redacted] then met her third match and stated that the gentleman
brought her flowers, she said they had “great conversation” and she appreciated
that his “faith was paramount”. However, it appears that she was not physically
attracted to him and was not comfortable that he had children. Please note that
we provide our clients with a brief description of their matches just to give
them an idea of the person they will be meeting. This information only supplies
details such as name, age, profession, residence, etc. Other information is not
concealed – it is just not listed. We want clients to get to know about each
other on their date and not have all information given to them prior.
Shortly after [redacted]’s third match, she placed her
account on hold and said she was dating someone. We responded to her request
and put her profile on freeze. We then received her complaint and contacted her
immediately. [redacted]’s matchmaker called her and asked her about what we
received, stating that she felt terrible that [redacted] filed a complaint. [redacted] responded that she was just “frustrated”. [redacted] also stated that she
just bought a new car and was dating someone. She said she was “stressed”,
because she was worried about the amount of hold time she had with her program
(3 months). Her matchmaker told [redacted] that she could have “unlimited freeze”
and not to worry. She also stated that we would “bonus back” her last referral.
[redacted] thanked the matchmaker and said she would keep in touch.
As you can see, we were under the impression that
everything was resolved. We understand that [redacted] has been frustrated, but
we have been working very hard for her and have matched her with men who are
compatible with her. We have even “bonused back” her last match and provided
her with “unlimited freeze” on her account as a courtesy. We want to keep [redacted] happy and have her best interest at heart.
Please note that [redacted]’s
contract clearly states that the fee she paid is non-refundable. [redacted] also
signed a client obligation form which states that she agrees to resolve any issues
directly with our staff. We believe we have made a genuine effort to resolve
[redacted]’s concerns and would like nothing more than to continue working with
her. We hope she has a change of heart. We will be here.
Thank you,DC Singles

To Whom It May Concern,Upon
receipt of **. [redacted]’s initial complaint, we contacted her and spoke
with her at length about her situation. We had come to an agreement and made
changes to **. [redacted]’s program. She had agreed to continue and also stated
that she would cancel her complaint with the Revdex.com. We have
now received a continued complaint from **. [redacted]. **.
[redacted] has stated that our discussion with her entailed a “resolution which
did not materialize, which further substantiates and supports her original
complaint for service and the lack of African American males currently
available in our system”. Please note that we have made several attempts to
reach **. [redacted] since we originally resolved this matter. Each time a staff
member has called **. [redacted], she has not answered and her voice mail box is
full, so we are unable to leave a message. We are more than happy, and very
excited for that matter, to have **. [redacted] sign a new agreement, so that we
can move forward in a positive direction. This is not a matter of not providing
our service, as we have absolutely done so. **.
[redacted] joined our services on 3/12/14. Once she left our office after her
interview, we immediately began working for her. We entered her information
into our system, created her profile, conducted her national background check,
entered detailed notes from her interview, uploaded her photos, discussed
possible matches on her behalf, etc. After **. [redacted] completed her profile
online and we finished everything on our end, we were able to activate her
account. We explain to our clients that once their account is active, we begin
the match search and it can take up to 8 weeks for the first match to be
provided. The matchmaking process is one that takes time and research. Our
matchmakers are very selective, as they have to be sure that they only match
our clients with those who are most mutually compatible. We
found **. [redacted]’s first match on 3/25, which was one week after her account
became active on 3/18. According to **. [redacted]’s feedback, she did not enjoy
her date, but also informed us that her and her match had actually already met
via an online dating site. There was definitely something that brought them
together on both occasions. However, they are apparently not meant to be
together, although her match enjoyed meeting her. We explain to our clients
(which is also included in our Rules and Regulations pamphlet) that we are
matching them with those who are “most mutually compatible” and that we do our
best to come as close as possible to what they are looking for. There is also
no time frame or frequency of matches, but we do search on our clients’ behalf
on a monthly basis. Some people may receive matches more frequently and for
others it can take time depending on various factors, especially compatibility.
The Rules and Regulations also state that our clients will not like everyone
they meet and vice versa. We do our best and hope for the best with each and
every match provided. Only our clients can determine if there is a connection
or not. We just provide the possible opportunities. After
speaking with **. [redacted] following her initial complaint, we matched her on
5/6 with two gentlemen that we had in mind for her. We have also tried calling
her regarding the new agreement, but we haven’t been able to reach her or leave
a message. We then received notification on 5/12 that **. [redacted] continued her
complaint and we were very surprised. We have been trying to call her again
since receiving word of this and have had the same trouble. We have also sent
her two e-mails in the last week, asking her to call us. We have yet
to hear from her. We were hoping to speak with her prior to responding to this
complaint again, but that is not the case, unfortunately. As
you can see, we have been providing our services and we have reached out to **.
[redacted] on multiple occasions. We want nothing more than to continue working
with **. [redacted]. We ask that she returns our phone calls (or e-mails). We
would like to put this all behind us and resume her program, so we can assist
her in finding someone special. That is our only goal. Please
let us know if you need any additional information. Thank you again for your
time.Regards,
DC Singles

To Whom It May Concern,
We have contacted the consumer to resolve the matter.
After speaking with the client, we have resolved their issues and they have
agreed to continue with their program.
Thank you,
DC Singles

5/4/15To Whom It May Concern,We
inquired with the Revdex.com today to check the status of this
complaint. We then immediately received a rebuttal letter for [redacted].
We noticed that [redacted] responded to our letter back on 4/3 and we were
not notified until today, 5/4.Please
note that our Director of Client Relations has recently reached [redacted] and
spoke with her on several occasions. They discussed [redacted]’s concerns,
her preferences, the program, etc. We advised [redacted] that there are
some options for her to help her move forward in a positive direction.[redacted] stated during her most recent conversation with our Director that
after thinking about it, maybe she needs to just take a break and collect her
thoughts. She understands that she shouldn't be getting this frustrated and
that this should really be a fun experience for her. She hopes after stepping
away for a period of time, she can come back and give it a fair chance. She
knows that she cannot get a refund, so this is the next best thing for her
right now. Our Director told [redacted] that she would have her Matchmaker
reach out to her in a month or so to see how she is doing. In the meantime,
if she wants to come back active, she is more than welcome to do so. They
thanked each other and ended the call.We only
want [redacted] to be happy and move forward with a positive mindset. We
will definitely be reaching out to her within the time frame we specified to
see how she is doing. As we stated, she can absolutely contact us before
then. We hope to resolve her program soon and continue helping her find
someone special.
Regards,
DC Singles

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.  The director of client relations contacted me personally and is working to attempt to resolve the issue.  I have agreed to continue to work with the company, as long as they continue to refer me individuals who meet the minimum requirements I have requested.

8/31/2015To Whom It May Concern:
We are in receipt of [redacted]’s
new complaint against our company. We previously received a complaint in
November of 2014 and have continued working with [redacted] since then.
[redacted] purchased 4 matches and
our matchmakers have...

matched her with 10 gentlemen thus far. Although the work
had been performed (and we provided the amount of matches purchased by [redacted]), but things did not work out for one reason or another, our
management team discussed [redacted]’s program and agreed to “bonus back”
quite a few matches and continue her program. Please note that [redacted] was
only matched with men who were most mutually compatible with her, according to
their profile information. Everyone who joins our program is prescreened and
prequalified. We ensure that everyone is financially secure, our clients must
attest that they are sincere and serious about meeting someone special, have no
physical or mental issues which will prevent them from being a part of our
program, etc. We even conduct a background check on each person once they
become a client. Also, we will only match our clients with those who are
compatible with them. We will not match our clients with just anyone, as we aim
for the success of each and every one of our clients.
If a match does not end up working
out, we are just as disappointed as we work hard to put each match together.
Yes, there were some men that did not follow through with contacting [redacted],
which is why we “bonused back” those matches. We do explain in our Regulations
pamphlet that not all clients will agree to meet their matches. Also, we would
hope that our clients would understand that we, unfortunately, cannot control
other’s behavior.
According to the feedback for [redacted]’s most recent match, she stated that this gentleman was “nice and easy
going”. She felt that they had “a lot in common” and she was “certainly
interested in getting to know him better”. She also stated that “this was the
first match she felt had potential out of her matches she met”. She said they
parted ways “friendly” and “appropriately” and rated the date as “Good”
overall. We felt we were headed in the right direction. [redacted] did
contact us a few days after she completed her date feedback and explained that
it appears that things would not work out after all with the gentleman she
enjoyed meeting. We were resuming our search for a new match and now we have
received this new Revdex.com complaint. As we explained, we have been
working very hard for [redacted] and even though we have matched her with 10
men (purchased 4), we have continued working on her behalf since certain matches
did not pan out. We believe we have been fair in this matter, given the circumstances.
Also, [redacted]’s agreement
clearly states that the fee she paid is non-refundable. Therefore, a refund
will not be an option, especially considering we have extended her program and
provided her additional matches.
Patience is key in our program,
especially since we are dealing with humans and their different behaviors,
mannerisms, etc. We just want every match to work out and we can understand how
it can become frustrating when certain people do not follow through with what
they are supposed to. We want [redacted] to know that we only want to help
her find someone special and we greatly appreciate her understanding throughout
the process.
We ask [redacted] to continue her
program and know that we sincerely want what is best for her.
Thank you,
DC
Singles

Date: 3/26/15Re: [redacted]Complaint #:
[redacted]To Whom It May
Concern, We have been trying to speak with Ms. [redacted] since the day she filed
this complaint. We do not understand why she will not speak with us
regarding her concerns. We would like to come to a resolution that
will be suitable for both parties. Our Director of Client Relations
has tried contacting Ms. [redacted] as well. As we mentioned, Ms. [redacted]
agreed to speak with management if she has any issues with her
program. We’re sorry that Ms. [redacted] refuses to communicate with
us. If she does decide to contact us back, we will still be here.
Until then, it appears that our hands are tied.Thank you,DC

To Whom It May Concern,We are in
receipt of [redacted]’s complaint. We greatly apologize that we did not
respond to this complaint when this was first sent out, as we did not receive
the information.Please note
that [redacted] has been...

an active client in our program since she joined
our services and is still active to this day. We have matched [redacted]
with 7 gentlemen thus far. Her most recent match was sent to her on 3/9. There
were some instances where [redacted]’s matches did not pan out. However,
each client receives a “managerial review” at the end of the program. This is
when management sits down, reviews the client’s experience and determines
whether or not certain matches should be “bonused back”, depending on the
situation. We are
happily continuing [redacted]’s program and would like nothing more than to
continue working with her. Also, please note that [redacted]’s contract
clearly states that the fee she paid is non-refundable. You will find this
information listed under paragraphs #1 and #13 in the contract which is signed
by [redacted]. Therefore, we would
like to politely request that this
complaint be closed as Beyond Purview, because the consumer signed an agreement
that clearly states that the Client fee is “non-refundable.” We have
included a copy of [redacted]’s non-refundable contract.Thank you for your time in
this matter.Regards,DC Singles

To Whom It May Concern,This is a rather interesting case. [redacted] appears to be leaving out some extremely pertinent information. Please note that there is a history with [redacted], and his behavior was completely unacceptable, which is why we asked him to leave the premises....

We will explain below. One of our staff members used to work for another matchmaking company a couple years ago. At that time, this staff member had met with [redacted] and signed him up for the services. The representative who met with [redacted] was about to have a child – she was 7 months pregnant. [redacted] appeared to be interested in this woman, as he would constantly go to the office, bring her presents, ask her out, etc. The woman was very distressed because of this. It apparently became so out of control that the company had to terminate his membership. The woman he was interested in was fearful after this occurred.
Now, [redacted] is still single and has shown interest in joining DC Singles. Ironically, the woman he met with at the other organization now works for our company. When one of our representatives spoke with [redacted] on the phone and scheduled his interview, we had no idea that this was the same gentleman. As soon as he walked in the door of our office on the day of his interview, the woman (originally from the other company) and [redacted] recognized one another. This apparently caused tension and he immediately became irate and hostile towards everyone. Before he even had an interview, he was very rude to our staff members, so our staff members called our Director who then called [redacted]. As she began speaking to him about the situation (and remaired very professional and polite), [redacted] began cursing and yelling obscenities. It was then that a gentleman who worked in the office next door to us came in to the room, and ordered [redacted] to leave.
[redacted] then stood outside of our building and would not leave at first. The ladies in our office were so petrified and disconcerted that they were just about to call the police when [redacted] finally left. We have never had an incident like this happen before. We hope that [redacted] does not return to our building again. We absolutely will not offer him an apology, but we do wish him well and we hope he finds someone special.
Thank you for your time in this matter.Regards,

Review: I joined DC Singles in December 2013. The sales person was personable, but used high pressure sales tactics to get me to agree to join. The original starting price was approximately $8,000, but I was able to get DC Singles to agree to $3500 for an introduction to 8 matches. The sales person, [redacted], assured me my expectations were not unreasonable and insinuated that I would be married within a year. While I did not truly believe her high pressure sales tactics, I did believe I was paying to meet men who would meet a certain minimum criteria. Some of the basic criteria I requested is as follows: a single male who earns a similar income, has a four year degree, has no children, and is significantly taller than me. DC Singles matched me with one gentleman who did not have a four year degree. The second match did not earn a similar income, did not have a four year degree, and stood me up, so I did not even get a chance to meet him. I have had numerous conversations with the customer service agents. They continually ask me for more time and patience. The sales person, [redacted], explained that I would only have to wait a month or two between matches. In six months, I have gone out on one date. At this point, their services are starting to feel like a scam. I paid a significant amount of money, and have received very little in return.Desired Settlement: The agreement I signed states that Client Fees are non-refundable. However, when I signed the agreement, I believed DC Singles was going to match me with individuals who met my minimum criteria. In six months, they have failed to keep their agreement. I do not understand how a company is allowed to perform so poorly and not refund my money. These types of high pressure sales tactics, followed by poor delivery should be illegal.

Response:

Review: I joined DC Singles on 19 December 2013. During a two hour interview, I establish my preference for the type of individual I felt compatible to. I am a Yoga Instructor, vegetarian, meditate and maintain a very health lifestyle. My main preference was an individual with a body type of slim or athletic, much younger than me as I am very active, also interested in the same lifestyle. The Deal Breaker was the body which had to be slim or athletic as I know what I am attractive to. Their requirement was my first match within 8 weeks. On week five I was matched with an individual with a body type, age and lifestyle didn't even come close to our agreed preferences for my personal preferences. THe individual was very over weight, non active, and left me very disappointed with who DC Singles set my first match up with.I paid $3,500 for a service they guaranteed me 6 matches within my preferences with the opportunity to provide feedback on what worked and what didn't work. After paying $3,500 I expected someone within my preferences and lifestyle, after all they are the experts and I was paying a very large sum of money.THis first experience left me the impression that something must have gone wrong with the interview application passed on to whoever made the match on my behalf. There was no follow up after the initial interview, no check and balance to see what my preferences were is what they input into the their system to determine the match, no common sense examination of their match process after the fact to compare what I was looking for to what they matched me up with.I felt that DC Singles, somehow, misprocessed my application and I asking for a refund. I take extremely good care of my body, mind and emotions. I look much younger for my age and the person they connected me with was overweight, out-of-shape, much older for her age and if there was a check and balance performed, this might have been avoided.Desired Settlement: I am looking for a refund as I feel this agency mishandled my application. I was told on 3 February 2013 when a representative from DC Singles called my regarding my complaint, she indicated that I marked A FEW EXTRA POUNDS on my applications. Of course this is not true, and during the two hour interview on 19 December 2013, the Deal Breaker was body type, slim or athletic.

Regards,

Review: This company is deceptive in their practices. I specifically joined because I was assured that the company had a sufficient number of African American males with whom I could be introduced. Also, because of the amount of money paid (more than $1000) I expected personal service, and not an online system for which the work actually becomes mine. (I could use an online dating system for $20 and get the same type of results). I was lied to by DC Singles as they separated their service from online dating services.I expected that I would have an introduction on average, one per week and possibly one every 3 or 4 weeks thereafter (for 8 introductions within 6 months). After a few weeks I called to complain that I hadn't heard anything and that I would not have signed up if I thought that I would get this low level service. They responded by making an introduction with a man who had disclosed to them that he was relocating to Washington state (and did within 2 weeks of my meeting him). DC Singles has not made any other introductions since, confirming that my apprehension was correct and that I was lied to in their deceptive practice to just take the money and run with impunity (steal). I complained and was told that someone would contact me to 'explain' their system. I told them that several weeks in, with no contact until I call to complain is unacceptable for the amount of money paid. Also, the ownus is mine they said to complete the online feedback, which is also deceptive because that was not the service level expectation set with me when I spent over 2 hours in person with a rep. who said DC Singles is not like online sites in their service. Yet, the entire experience has been worst than online particularly because of the amount of money paid and no service provided, AND that no valid introductions have made. I asked them for my money back because they DON'T have AA men in their system to introduce me to. This isn't a matter of poor service only, but more so deceptive service.Desired Settlement: Receive in full ($1500) the amount paid, rather than sue per their contract terms (which is also a farce because their attorney is in another state making it unattractive to the average person). The original transaction was deceptive from the beginning, as the company knew that there was not a sufficient number of African American males to fulfill the terms at the time of the signing of the contract by simply viewing their online system.

Review: [redacted]

Business

Response:

Date: 5/19/14To Whom It May Concern,Upon

receipt of **.

Thank you again for your

time.Regards,DC Singles
