I requested that Dean's plumbing send someone out to evaluate why we were seeing such a prolonged time for water in our sinks to heat up in the master bathroom. We had recently had a tankless water heater installed by them. As part of the visit, the technician decided to test the shower. After he had finished testing the shower, he called to inform me that the shower was leaking. Prior to the appointment, this had not been an issue. There was an occasional delay of 5-10 seconds where the water would drip, but then it would shut off. The leak was significant enough that we had to turn the water off to avoid expense associated with excessive water use.

When I called to ask them to address the situation, the technician insisted that nothing he did would have caused the shower to leak and that it was not their issue. He did not offer to repair it, but informed me that he would have his manager call me. He did send me an estimate of 470.70 to repair the shower later in an e-mail. I have not heard from his manager, despite calling several times asking for an update. I have been told that they are e-mailing the manager, but there is no timetable on when this will be addressed. In the mean time, I have had to keep the water shut off to prevent the significant leak from the shower. Given their poor response, I am actively looking for someone else to fix the shower

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

THis has been resolved. Thank you

In the 34 plus years we have lived in this home, we have had many plumbers, electricians and home service businesses.
Some have been good, others have been okay and a few have been terrible.
Dean's Professional has provided the most outstanding, service of any of the former.
Not only has the actual service been superb; but each employee has been thorough in their work and has taken time to explain all of the options available for necessary repair or replacement.
Quality service with financial integrity is sometimes a rarity today.
Dean's not only provides that quality service; but certainly the financial integrity

My house was about to go on the MLS listing and I found that my kitchen sink faucet was leaking. I called Dean's to setup a service. They said $67 to visit my home the next day. Same day service would cost me $100 on top of the service fee. I opted for the next day. So, the next day, I receive a call at 2 PM the next day that they can't really come to my home that day as one of their earlier engagement took longer than normal. They made me wait all day just for me to know that they can't make it. So, I asked if they can come anytime in the evening as well because fixing this is super important for me. They said they will have to charge me $100 extra as that would be emergency. I wouldn't understand how that is emergency. my first call was the previous day and they made me wait all day the current day for no fault of mine. This business just seems like a scam to extract more money.

Dean's salesman Josh was so nice and you could tell he had alot of experience.

We had both our Central air conditioner and furnace replaced. Not only did they come at a time that worked well with both my husband and I were able to be there for the estimate, Joe was extremely knowledgeable and polite. He gave us an honest answer to any of our questions. Desiree called us to let us know when he would be there and had a great attitude on the phone, making me feel that we had gone with the best company. All of the technicians that came to the house to do the installation were respectful, helpful, and professional. They made sure our new system not only was working at its best, but they also pointed out problems that another company had overlooked and were dangerous. We would not hesitate to recommend them to any friends/family that we knew. Thank you for your hard work and professionalism

Jeff B, Chris and David A. was the team I worked with at Dean's Professional Plumbing, Heating & Air. I had circa 85' heating and A/C units which I needed to get replaced. They were all very professional, did a great job of explaining what was wrong and what they fixed. Turn around time was decent. They did an assessment Thursday and came out the following Tuesday for install and they were done in one day. I would recommend them to anyone.

McCartney *** contacted Dean's Professional for a quote on the repair of the A/C unit in her house, ***. A Dean’s Professional technician came to McCartney's home, inspected the problem, and sold McCartney a brand new A/C unit, furnace, and associated labor for installation. McCartney canceled the transaction within 3 business days, per her right under MN Statute 325G.07. Dean's Professional has refused to provide McCartney a full refund as per their responsibility in MN Statute 325G.09. During the transaction, they have also violated other statutes. McCartney is currently owed $1325.67 from her original payment, as well as any applicable interest & damages. Dean's is refusing to work with McCartney to resolve this problem. A full timeline of transpired events and an in-depth breakdown of violated statutes and dollar amounts follow.

Detail of Violated Statutes:
This sale falls under Minnesota Statute 325G.06 as a home solicitation sale. It is not excluded from this categorization as McCartney requested a quote from Dean's for the repair of her A/C but was instead sold a new A/C unit and furnace + installation costs. The entire contract/invoice is for the sale of additional goods/services than were originally requested by McCartney, and would not be excluded under (3) of MN Statue 325G.06.

Per MN Statute 325G.09, the seller is obligated to tender all payments made by the buyer, back to the buyer within 10 days if the transaction was canceled within the 3 business day window. Dean's Professional has violated this statute and still owes McCartney $1325.67 from her original payment, as well as interest on the balance and potentially additional damages for violating numerous statutes during the transaction. At the time of filing this notice, Dean's has been withholding $1325.67 of McCartney's canceled payment since May 24, 2018, which equates to 11 business days.

See attached for additional violated statutes.

I do apologize to hear of this situation. This complaint did prompt us to have our attorneys review our contract to ensure that we were in compliance. The end result is that we did realize that we had misunderstood the law in regards to charging restocking fee’s on the entire invoice, instead of the cost of the materials. In light of this information we have removed that terminology from our invoices and have issued a full refund for the restocking fee that had been charged. Please let us know if there is anything else that we can do. Thank you.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 12895475, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. Although I find this response satisfactory, I am disheartened and very concerned that this business has been fraudulently charging other individuals this fee and they have blatantly admitted to fraud. Please take note of this company for future endeavors.

Thank you,

McCartney

I am a Dean's Club Member, a benefit of "Front of the line Priority scheduling" does not appear to work. Since when I tried to make an appoint on 5/24/18, I was told next available was Wednesday 5/30/18.
Paying to be a member, but getting 6 days as my benefit does not seem to align. Maybe they have grown to big to offer this as a benefit anymore.

We have worked with Erik S. from Deans on two occasions. He is extremely professional and great knowledge. The first time he installed a water heater and softener. He did a great job. This week we had a small issue with the softener and were fortunate to have Erik field the call. He was again highly professional. I would highly recommend him.

Jeff *** did a plumbing evaluation at my home today and was very thorough and answered all my questions. He wore covers over his shoes and was very careful with his tools and equipment so as not to hit walls, etc. I will always call Dean's Plumbing if I have issues in that category. Thanks you, Jeff!

I just had a great experience with Steve E. from Dean's Plumbing with a floor drain issue. He provided options, price quote and recommended maintenance. The office called promptly to confirm the appointment and I really liked the text identifying who was going to be doing my work.

The pilot light went out on our furnace and after not being able to get it to stay lit - we called Dean's AFTER checking the Revdex.com to make sure they were accredited. They were able to send someone out that day, but would not come until you paid a $169 "travel charge emergency" fee with a credit card. They offer a $59 coupon, but found out later that this can only be used on a service - not the travel fee. Our home was already freezing and we worried about freezing pipes and the gas furnace blowing up. We paid the fee and had them come out. They sent a person who was "not familiar" with boilers - they did not ask over the phone what type of furnace it was. After checking the furnace, and making a phone call to the office, the tech told us that they could order a part and it would be in the following day. He also said that they could get the part that night for an additional $250.00. We declined and the tech told us the part would be roughly $800 (including an hour and a half of install time). We were shocked, but knowing nothing about heating systems, agreed to the repair. A tech came out around 11:30 the next morning and installed the part. He told us there was some rust around some pipe in the furnace and there could potentially be a CO2 leak at some point in the future. He threatened to shut down the furnace - even though he had detected no CO2 at that time. He then proceeded to give us a hard sell for a new boiler. We declined a sales rep coming to our home. When I complained to friends and co-workers the next day about how expensive the fix was - they all said it was way overpriced. At this time, I asked for a detailed invoice from Dean's with the part # that was installed. I went online and discovered the part number can be purchased for $85.49. When my husband spoke to "Tim" at Dean's regarding being charged $800 for an $85 part - he was told "we are an expensive company and that's what we charge". Unethical - they take advantage of a scary situation.

Hello,

Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to earn your business. I know how frustrating it is to have your equipment fail in a time of need. You are right, the business we are in is expensive. We pride ourselves in being upfront with our pricing so that allows you to make decisions as to which solutions we offer are right fro you. I will be first tell you that parts are often times not the most expensive part of what we do. One certainly can find parts, or even services, for a less expensive price if price is what they are looking for. Our prices are the same whether it is Winter or Summer to assure you that we do not take advantage of our customers in any situation. Our goal is to provide a world class experience for our customers with the goal of building a lifetime customer. We invest lot of training and focus around this and we require high standards of our employees to deliver this. By you writing the Revdex.com means we have failed you in this mission. I am truly sorry. I assure you that I have taken your feedback to our entire team in order to continue focusing on improving our mission and learn from this. I am refunding at your request 50% of what you paid and I truly hope you will allow us a second chance in the future if you are ever in need of service. Thank you again. Jeremy

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

We had an emergency service with a small pin-sized hole leak on our main water line just before the house shut off valve. I called at ~8AM SUNDAY and was told the technician could come out within a couple hours. Joe F arrived at 11:30AM and completed the job in 2-3 hours. He was very professional and courteous. He didn't mind all of my questions and was very genuine and provided great customer service - a rarity these days. This is my first dealing with Den's and having tried MANY other plumbing companies in the past I feel confident I will be a repeat customer - something I cannot say about many other ones in town. THANKS JOE for your A+++++++ WORK!

After looking at the calldeans.com website and seeing the coupon for "Monday's Special offer $99 special Open any Mainline &camera inspection ($194 all other water lines) Limit 1 offer per customer" I web chatted with them. I explained in detail that I wanted the main line snaked with a root saw and that it was around 150-200 feet to the street. I also explained about the coupon and was told it was a valid promotion. I was instructed on the chat to call the number to schedule. I then called and talked to a young lady about the issue. I stated multiple times that they need to have at least 200 feet on the snake to do this job. I also stated about the coupon and was told that we would also be charged a 69 dollar trip charge. They could not come out on Sunday so we scheduled it for Monday. I decided I needed to be here so I worked from home. I prepped the clean out so they could go right to work as we have not been able to drain a tub in two days and really needed the service. When Steve E from Dean's came out he stated that the order specifically had the length of the main on it. He then told me they can't snake that far (we have this done each year and all companies have been able to snake it out) but they could do it via water jet for 1800 dollars. Of course I said no and of course they still charged me a trip charge. The ad (coupon) had no exceptions and I have a screen shot of it on my computer. This is a classic bait and switch.

Talked to *** on 2/12/18 @ 1:09pm to discuss his concerns with the service. We had both agreed to refund the 69.00 travel charge, and *** was happy with that. All is taken care of.

Thanks,

Deans Professional Plumbing

Think long and hard before you call Deans....
I thought Deans was a pretty ethical company however they just proved that to not be the case. I have the Deans Club membership and you get free trip charges however...... Pay the trip charge at other places and save yourself money in the end. They charged $140 service charge to identify the problem. It was an induction fan motor (part costs around $150). The estimate they provided is $1150 dollars for the part and labor. The tech also recommended that for that price I look at talking to his new furnace sales guys because mine is only 6 years old (bolder basic). $1150 for a fan motor and labor? I called another company and told them what I needed and they said it would be $380 out the door for everything.

I would think long and hard but calling Deans out.

I had a great experience with Dean's team of professional folks. It was a big a complicated job and the team was very accommodating and pleasant to work with. The text messages were very helpful. Jeff B. did a great job explaining the options for a new system and explaining the details. Jason L and Brandon did a excellent job of installing and setup and very great to work with. Justin, the electrician, was also great to work with and was extremely helpful :-) Great job everyone and Thank you!

Friendly staff, email, text and phone messages re: status frequently, seems to be high-quality work to current best standards with better materials. Very conscientious, worked with us to ensure their work would accommodate future plans for the room in which plumbing and electrical work was done.

Deans got my credit card information last year when I helped a friend get his furnace repaired last winter. When this friend got a new furnace this year, they used my card without asking me. :( $2,000 dollars worth! Causing me overdraft fees, loss of sleep, and hours on the phone, with bank, them, and the police department. They used my credit card information without my consent. Andrew ***.

Deans plumbing Minneapolis. 12/21/17. Satisfied with Andrews work and professionalism. But, what I was charged for the work that was done is ridiculous.....$479 to install a new kitchen faucet that I supplied. He removed the existing faucet but then added 3 shut off valves at my request for an additional $65 bringing the total cost to $544. It was $479 for labor and he was at my house for a little over an hour
This was not an emergency and was done in the afternoon, not during off hours.

TOTAL RIP OFF and I would not recommend this company to anybody. I asked for a rate and estimate when I called for an appointment and was told that it would be given to me after he determined the extent of the job. Very disappointing that they could not have given me a ball park cost when calling for an estimate after they have done hundreds or thousands of faucet installations over the years. Plus I am 74 and retired and was not given the senior discount that they advertise on their website.

I had a great experience with Deans installing a water softener, and soft water loop. The technician, Cory M, was very knowledgeable, prompt, courteous, and efficient. He took the time to explain everything in great detail to make sure I understood everything. I was also impressed with The Deans Club Membership program. For $99 a year you get A/C, Furnace, and water heater tune up. Centerpointe Energy wanted $120 just to tune up my furnace! I would recommend Deans to Anyone looking for a Professional, Courteous Plumber!
