12/15/ definitely a complaint they have done everything that goes with terrible customer relations ,unresolved claim for no other reason than they just dont care.legititamate coverage a wall mount micro wave found on a month now ,broken promises of expedite coverage, indefinite hold time and again .my first claim in the five years that I have paid on time.these company sucks.dont waste your money on these ripoffsI repeat dont fall for the total rip off

I have to say that I have been very disappointed in my service with this companyThe last several claims that I have files, I generally have to call to find out the status of the claimI have to spend my time speaking with people that have little to no respect for my timeClaims get closed and I have to call to find out the reason as to why have not been notifiedWhen a representative asks me to hold for - minutes, that is ridiculousThe reps should be able to call me back when they have done their research of the issueWhen I ask to be called back, I am told that it is not possible for them to call me backWhen I do get someone to say they will call me back, I do not hear from themLastly, I cannot speak with a supervisor unless I give a reason to do so

This business is absolutely HORRIBLE to work with We had an issue with a dishwasher and they sent different technicians to 'fix' the problem This was for a rental property so needless to say the tenants were getting beyond annoyed the problem went on forever! Finally, we bought and installed a new dishwasher ourselves where these geniuses wanted to keep paying technicians to figure out what the problem was I finally got so angry with them that I canceled the contract to try to save some money out of a worthless 'warranty.' Expecting some money back, I contacted them a few weeks later asking where the refund check was, I found out they have a ridiculous clause in their contract stating if you cancel their contract, you pay some type of 'administrative fee' which basically takes whatever refund you thought you should get from a crappy company What a complete joke! Bottom line - PEOPLE STOP BUYING THESE RIDICULOUS HOME WARRANTIES!!!!!!!! We need to force change on this industry It's no wonder they have a 96% NEGATIVE customer review rating That's worse than the US Congress!!!

We have been using this service for several yearsThe claims process is always laborious and contact is very difficult to achieve We have had to wait for approximately weeks or longer per claim The contractors they use have not been knowledgeable and at times have created more problems than they fix Of the several claims we have used, they have indeed paid for the repairs when indicated, however, it was a long and difficult process that takes multiple calls, over many weeks to resolve I could not recommend them

I have had First American for years with no problems until this yearIn the past I was able to contact the same service rep and get quick service and the technicians that came out knew what they were doing and fixed the problemsIn the past year that has not been the caseWe recently returned from vacation to find that the air conditioning had gone outI waited on hold for minutes and was cut offA second call was a minute waitThe AC company called me the next day but could not come out until the following weekI called customer service, waited almost minutes, and was assigned a new companyThey agreed to come out at 5pm the following dayI cancelled two important appointments to be thereBy 6:the contractor was a no showWhen I called him he sounded like he forgot and said he was over hours away and wanted to rescheduleI told him I would wait and he acted surprised but agreed to come out in hoursIt was over outside, my upstairs was and we needed helpSo I called a local company they came out in minutes, found the problem and said they would be back the following day with the partMy husband called the First American tech, who was still not on his way, to cancelWe ended up out of pocket $for something that should have been covered by First AmericanI received a customer survey several days later and gave the experience the lowest rating possibleSomeone from First American called me and I went over the problem in detailThe person I spoke to apologized and said that they had problems with this same technician and were reviewing himNo offer to reimburse me thoughBoth my daughter and another friend have had really bad experiences this year with First American as wellTo add insult to injury today I received a bill from them for the service call that never was! I am in the real estate industry and have recommended them many times over the yearsNEVER again!

I called to open a work order for my garage and the contractor was not flexible at all when scheduling an apptSo opened another work order and the contractor came out to view the repairs and told me what was wrong with my garage wasn't covered under warrantyWhat?? I called the customer service number to get clarification and I was hold for over minutes I called three (3) days straight and placed on excessive holds for more than minutes When I finally spoke with a representative, I was already on hold for minutes Then they tell me what the contractor listed as the problem is not written in the contract, but whatever is not written in the contract, still isn't covered This is the most ridiculous thing I ever heardI bought a home warrant that covers nothing! The customer service is awful and the contract and terms are even worst

This is NOT the company you want for your home warranty needsNo matter when you call, they will put you on hold for minutes or more and not always give you the opportunity to have someone call you backThey give you the runaround for months, only to find ways to deny your claim

BIGGEST SCAM EVERWASTE OF MONEYmonths later - range is still not fixedFirst company they contracted out months of cancelled appointments the range is still not fixedI was told by the technician as our range doesn't respond to #on the keypad - then cook at or Are you serious? And when I told him the self cleaning feature didn't work he told me - then you clean! ROTFLThen I called and made a second claim - one month later for that technician to call to schedule a service call but what there's morethey are located miles away - opps First American they don't service our areaThird time calling months later and the person I spoke to surely was out of country- on hold an hour , again someone will call youWOWHorrible - check out their reviews on consumer affairsYikesI bet the warranty will expire before the range is fixed! SCAM

Get ready to sit on hold for over an hour I called to complain about a service repairman that came to fix our dishwasher and left with it not functioning properly (would not heat the wash water) but claimed that it was not supposed to (a blatant lie regarding our model) Sure enough the fault tripped again when the wash load finished and it is back in to its failed state since it would not detect the water heater working I spent minutes on hold just to have the first person tell me he has to transfer me to a claim specialist, which took another minutes When the 2nd person asked what he could do I requested a new repairman since the firs one blatantly lied and left us with a broken washer He said that they could not send a different repairman Now I am on hold for the 3rd timecurrently minutes on the phone, of which were talking to a person and the rest has been on hold

My garage door stopped working, I called First American Home Buyers, reported the problem, like they informed me that someone would contact me from a company of their choosing (practice), and they would set up a time, two days later, I received a call from a [redacted] overhead doors, and they scheduled an appointment for two days outWhen the technician came, he said "The door is too heavy," and the "Door needs to be balanced." I can understand the balancing which it clearly states in my contract is NOT covered, but the "door too heavy," bothered meWhy after years of working properly all of a sudden, the door becomes heavy? I could not get a further detailed explanation, but the technician did offer to balance the door for $on top of the $service call fee, I did not take him up on this offer, I did however, call a friend of mines who is a Handyman to come look at it, and he instantly saw that my "gear shaft" was mangled, he was able to fix it after buying the replacement part from sears for $ My issue is not that every time I call for a claim, nothing is covered, my issue is that I am never told what the actual problem is! My door did not become too heavy overnight, a gear in the motor became worn out over time from general use, and needed to be replaced, but that could not be said because that would have been covered, but balancing and adjusting are specifically not covered I have only had one other need to call home warranty, and that was because half of the electricity went out in my houseAgain, I went through the same steps as above (showering in the dark for weeks) and once the contractor got their he said the problem was "inadequate wiring capacity." Again I asked a friend who knew a certified electrician, called him, and he fixed the problem in a couple hoursFYI it says in my contract that "Inadequate wiring capacity" is not covered, which is not a great explanation, but that was not the problem, it was what was told to me because the contractor either did not know or really look into the problem, or they work for the home warranty company, and don't want to cover anything I have researched a lot, and I will no longer pay $for any home warranty that never covers anything

STAY AWAYThis is not a company, but a total scamThe real estate agents are their seller agents and get paid a high percentage for selling coverage to inexperienced home buyers like me at the closing timeThere is absolutely nothing that they can help you withThey make you call them times and keep you on hold to approve a $bathroom faucet, to replace a $faucet, because it is THEIR POLICY to replace with lowest grade productsI haven't even got that $yet Why CA state consumer protection can let these guys stay in business???

Extremely frusterated with them! EVERY time I have had to call them, there is a minimum wait of minutes--no matter what time of day or day of the week I called Our A/C unit has been in a state of disrepair since July and still is not working! The first repair technician they dispatched on July had to come back two additional times and the issue is still not resolved as they installed something that ran at too high RPM and burnt out the electrical system Total incompetence This particular company tells you their call time is between 9am - 5pm (really?!?) and has a very poor rating on YELP When our unit broke for a third time, I told FA that I would NOT work with that company again as I do not trust them We have a new technician who identified the "new" problem three weeks ago but no word from FA I called this morning and spent over an hour on the phone and was told the part is in, yay! Unfortunately FA ordered the wrong part! I called FA back, spend another minson hold, explained the problem and they guy tells me he has to call me back as his computer just froze Hmmmm I waited mins., called back to his extension waited minsfor someone to pick up and got someone completely new Explained problem AGAIN, got put on hold and now waiting again (timer shows mins and counting)Their recording when holding says to be prepared to state the system that has failed Well, FA - that system would be YOURS

I've dealt with First American a few times nowThis last time I've been on hold for over hours and have been disconnectedI can't keep anyone on the line long enough to finish my claim and will file Revdex.com report as soon as the service is completedThere is no reason to be on hold for that long or be disconnected without being immediately contacted back I asked to speak to supervisors but they just transferred meThis service is extremely expensive for what you get and I expected much better serviceYou contact the sales department they answer quickly but you call claims and it takes HOURS

Beware of the excuses by First American Home Buyers contractors I hired and PAID different air conditioning companies to do the same assessment of the problem with my a/c All said the same thing, that the coils are worn out and would need replaced, not cleanable The First American contractors made the same excuses First said they would clean and install UV lights second said the coils are dirty with mold and can't be cleaned Again, my different contractors said the coils cannot be cleaned because they are old and worn, thus must be replaced So why am I paying for a/c protection that INCLUDES COIL REPLACEMENT? They do and say anything to get out of the big jobs

I had them for years and the rate increased for the monthly fee and the service callSure I understand this but I decided to find a better policy with a different companyI called First American to cancel my contract and the guy told me that I was paid until end of July and he will notate that I didn't want to renew my contract and that I would no longer be charged anythingWELLLLL I was charged in June and when calling the rep told me that person was wrong and that I did have one more payment in June dueWhen I told him that was not correct he laughed at me and told me there is nothing he could do it is what it isI told him I wanted to cancel back to June when I called the first timeHe again laughed at me and told me he could not do thatI asked for a supervisor and he fought with me telling me that they were going to tell me the same thingI kept asking and after times requesting this he told me to hold to see if he could find oneShockingly the call droppedI called back and the girl told me that I could leave a message for her supervisor to call me when he got inI did and he called me backI voiced my concern and he told me the same thingWell then I demanded to listen to the recorded phone conversation that I had on June since I knew the time and the operator I spoke withHis tune quickly changed and he offered to cancel my policy back to June and told me I would get a refund within 5-daysWELLLLL again no refund in my account so I called and emailed him times and he has yet to contact me backI called and the customer service rep told me they are having trouble with their returns and it now may take 8-daysThis is ridiculous and HORRIBLE customer service all the way aroundI went with Choice and it has already been a much better experience speaking to their customer service and same coverage but half the cost and much better rated!! Steer clearI don't leave reviews unless I feel passionately about something

On the morning of 9/15/toilets backed up into the shower Called FAHB and it was classified by them as an "emergency" They assigned a contractor and I waited Finally called the contractor, they were not interested Called FAHB who assigned another contractor who couldn't get there till the next day Meanwhile with Drano & hot water I got the system to flow slowly Contractor showed up, tried the drain auger and decided that there was some blockage but they needed to put there TV camera down the line, which would, of course, be the next week The following Tuesday I called FAHB who contacted the contractor and later informed me that they too were no longer interested The third contractor showed up two days later with camera equipment and I was informed that to clear the blockages a cleanout would have to be installed upstream of the blockages which FAHB would not pay for For $I got the cleanout and a week later the power wash was done So the "emergency" only took two weeks During this two week process I tried repeatedly to talk to anyone at FAHB and was met with on-line holds, stone-walling, excuses and people with only a rudimentary understanding of English who usually responded from a prepared script An absolutely disgusting experience How in the world is this company accredited ?????

Don't waste your time with these guysCoveniently, when you want to sign up, you get to speak to someone within about secondsIf you want to place a claim however you will spend an average of minutes on hold and then they will hang up on you about out of timesDo they call you back? NopeSo, once you speak with someone they will tell you what you want to hear and you'll say "OK" and then you won't hear back from themThen start from beginning and call the again only to wait on hold - explain situation from beginning - and repeat process againThis goes on for about a month and you either give up or keep wasting your timeEvantually they will correct the problem but not before you want to strangle someoneI hate these people almost as much as my cable provider - and that is saying a lotMy contract is expiring in weeks and I will not be renewing

We incurred several needs for the warranty to help out and were only helped one timeWe had a microwave go out the week after moving in and had to wait almost a month and a half before having a new one installedThe biggest problem we had with First American was trying to get a plumbing issue fixedWe had a leak in the shower drain and inlet pipe and had water running under the carpet in our bedroomAfter weeks, someone finally came out to look at, and confirm we had a problemAfter not hearing from any one for another week, I call First American and am told that the contractor that came to look at it cant fix it and that First American cant find anyone else to fix it eitherI was then told that our only option was to take the cash-out and contract it out ourselvesWe were also told that the contractor had to be licensed and bonded or we would not get any money for itAfter arguing with the woman for almost hours, I finally got her to realize that we werent going to be able

Negative experience While they seem to cover a lot, there's a lot of "fine print" that delegates risk and responsibilities to you, the ownerMy washer was obvious the cause of major washer damageWhen ask to service, they said my contract requires me to hook up the faulty unit to start withMy insurance already took care of me since I wasn't in negligence initiallyBut hooking up a faulty unit (at same premise) again would make me negligentFirst American would not take liable for future damages, so it's all at risk to youYou can't get help with these folks Additionally, emergency plumbing was required, but their queuing system sent an already overbooked plumberMy HOA ended up taking care of meTheir newly assigned plumber ended up showing up the next day, to which no further work was requiredI'm still expected to pay a service fee for no service renderedWhen called to discuss the issue, you pay the service fee regardless of resolution or denied or etc If you take a step back, this warranty contract pretty much does nothing for you with the exception of minor non-emergencies; might as well YouTube as save your money and learn somethingI'd recommend going anywhere else but here, as I intend to take my money elsewhere

BE AWAY.This is the first and the worst home warranty companyAfter they agreed that my microwave is covered and they gonna fix it, the technician showed up after a week and he said that he is going to order some parts to fiximy microwave and he charged me $The day after that they called me and told me that my microwave part is not covered by the warranty and they cant fix t,but the funny thing is they said they can not give me back my $Be away of this company.BE AWAY
