Horrible! Tub faucet leaking, I call because plumbing is covered in the contract, they tell me "leaky faucets are not covered"!! Garage roof leaking, they tell me even though the garage is part of the property it's not covered because it is a detached garage! Gas line leaking, they send out a plumber who claims he fixed it but didn't I would NEVER recommend this company

We have had a contract with First American Home Warranty for two years now at a cost of $per monthWe finally needed to submit a claim when our hot water heater started leaking We noticed it at 7:00pm on a Friday night when my wife started laundryWe put towels down to absorb as much water as we could and I shut the cold water valve to the heater offMy wife called the company and the company said we would receive a call back within minutes with contractor informationThe phone call was never returned! We both had to work Saturday so we both took a quick cold shower Saturday morningAfter not receiving a call back by 2:00pm Saturday, we called again, mind you, extremely upsetThey actually huon her!!!! She called back and was on hold for over minutes before speaking with two supervisorsAfter getting nowhere with this company, I called a plumber myself and paid $to get it repairedThis was our first experience with First American Home WarrantyI calculated the savings: None! I would suggest setting aside the money you would pay for this and letting it collect interest in a savings accountI cannot believe I paid almost $for this (lack of) service!

Our pool is covered as part of the contractThe contract of what covered/not covered is very vague but they basically won't cover aesthetics for the pool, only equipment that makes the pool/spa functionMakes sense, right? Due to the vague nature of the contract, I feel it's necessary to verify if the specific equipment is covered PRIOR to sending someone out and paying the $I have my own pool guy so if it's not covered I would rather have him fix and not pay the $
I have done this twice- called and asked if a certain piece of equipment is covered BEFORE sending their contractor outBOTH times have been told specifically "yes that's covered" so I send their contractor out to be told "not covered." Still owe the $Then the contractor tries to tell me he can fix the equipment for prices 3X more than what my pool guy charges!
When I call First American about this, their excuse is "well our people aren't technicians so we can't stand by it if you were told it would be covered"

It's a dishonest scam

First American Home Buyers Protection Corporation, particularly home warranty services in my location, is not a business to recommend...didn't honor terms in service contract, there is no direct communication, over a month to resolve simple issue, and don't seem to care at all

They offer a zero value product The seller offered a home warranty and paid for it When I paid the $for a tech to come and check why my hot water heater wouldn't work, he stated the unit needed replacedOF COURSE the warranty doesn't cover it, why would they cover something they actually had to pay for! I threw $out the window because when I asked what the warranty covers, it doesn't cover anything but plumbing inside the house I won't shed a tear when they go out of business and all those worthless employees end up looking for a real job that maybe they can contribute something of value to society instead of delivering lies and offering nothing but excuses It should be against the law to offer a warranty that doesn't pay out when there's a real reason for it to be A useless warranty and useless employees that automatically deny the claim with no basis I have contacted my realtor company to ensure they no longer work with this useless company I will be writing an editorial and bad reviews to all available outlets because I'm fed up with these warranty companies ripping all of us off! I'm going to meet with my congressman, senator, and lobbyist to create change on warranty companies so that they have to start honoring warranties All warranties beyond the manufacturing warranty are absolutely useless

The representative was very pleasant when they sign you up with the contract agreement, but when you file a claim, you can't find anyone to assist youI have to put on hold for over minsand got disconnectNow I am calling them back, still no one is answering my phone, on hold with the music playing at the backgroundDON'T BUY THEIR WARRANTY

Sham companyThey send a guy supposed to be a appliance repairman, he comes in a private car, no sign or license number, out of state platesTells me 3-days to get partA week later they want to install in another weekCall insurance company, leave my callback numberAlmost hours, no callback

Absolutely the worst company I have every had the displeasure of working withNot only will I not renew my contract, I will tell everyone I know and every review site I know, that this company is garbage
First issue, I filed a claim in December for my dishwasherAfter weeks of trying to get an appointment with the contractor, the contractor literally used a coat hanger to wire the sprayer to my rackThen they had the audacity to try and tell me this was considered "fixed." I made multiple complaints until I finally reached a supervisor who could appreciate why I didn't think my dishwasher was fixedThey sent a second contractor out who said he didn't think they made the part anymore, but he would try to find oneA month later they tell me they possibly found the part on EbayThat part also did not workFinally in April (months after I filed a service request) they ordered me a new dishwasher
Second issue, my A/C condenser unit was clogged up causing water to overflow into my garageI explain to them in great detail what the issue isMy father is a retired plumber/pipe fitter so I knew exactly what the problem wasThey send a contractor out to fix it, only to be told, AFTER HE REQUESTED MY $60, that it wasn't covered under the policy, and he wouldn't be able to fix itI call First American to request an explanation as to why it wasn't coveredMy contract clearly states the A/C condenser is a covered itemThey tell me I'll have to wait hours for the contractor's report to be sentI waited over hours and called back, but there was a 20+ minute wait timeI tried different times that day to call, but every time it was 20+ or even 30+ minutesI have a jobI don't have time to waste waiting for a customer service repI instead use the website to send a "message" via the message centerIt states they will respond within business hoursIt has now been over business hours, and no responseFurthermore, they've closed my request with no explanation

I have never been more disappointed in a service provider than I am with First American Home Buyers Protection Corporation We received a warranty with the purchase of our home Within the first days of owning the home we discovered a leak in our crawlspace We called in for service A service company arrived and tried to sell us a bill of goods saying that we needed an ionization system which would cost over $2,due to corroded pipes which the warranty company said they would not cover because it was a preexisting condition So we reached out to our home inspector as we felt this should have been an issue that was caught on our home inspection When he came out, he found the leak at the washing machine hookup, nowhere near the "corroded pipes" in the crawlspace and he also confirmed that the pipes were not "corroded" We recontacted FAHBPC They told us they would still not cover the leak because it was a "preexisting" condition, even though we would have never experienced the leak until we hooked up our washing machine Nor did they offer to reimburse us for our initial incorrect assessment of our leak Strike one
Now we have no air conditioning in the main part of our house, family room, kitchen, dining room, etc We called last week to set up another service call A contractor came out and said we need a part that has to be located by FAHBPC He could go to the supply house and secure the part that same day but was not permitted to do so because it had to be purchased by the warranty group That was Thursday We'll then have to wait once they "find the part" for the service company to service us In the meantime we're sweltering in 90-degree weather with no air conditioning We're told they "may" have it by Monday
I would warn all consumers to not waste your money on this organization I have, again, never seen such a self-serving, typical insurance company that is very happy to take your money but if they need to provide service, it's either not at all because they'll find a way to get out of taking care of your problem, or, like this air conditioning situation, they'll make you swelter without air conditioning until they find the part

We paid money to this company for two years before we needed to file a claimFiled a claim, and have received no help whatsoeverThey claim to not have a contractor availableWe will definitely NOT be resigning with them next month and I highly discourage anyone else from signing as well

NEGATIVE 100%! I have had this policy for years and have only called a handful of times This outfit has gotten worse and worse over the years
I am currently dealing with an A/C issue and have been without A/C for the past days in triple digit temps It is only a matter of time until someone dies from their lack of promptness I have had to call First Am times They have referred HVAC Companies - both of which has an "F" Rating with the Revdex.comThe first company threatened me and told me "you can shove the blower motor up your ***" I am literally afraid to file a complaint against the first contractor for fear that they will come do me or my home PHYSICAL HARM!
Wait times to get a First Am representative on the phone are, on average, an hour - sometimes more Once you get someone on the phone, they don't care
This is the WORST experience I have EVER had with a company, bar none!

The 1st time we used them was an AC problem They had someone come out the next day and added freon We were impressed! A year later we had a sump pump problem It took weeks to get a plumber outIt took days because he needed to get a new pump(You would think they would have brought one out with them - it was a sump pump problem after all) At least it was fixed NOT Once the spring rains hit the pump started working hard, unfortunately they didn't tighten the clamps and water sprayed everywhere I called them this AM (long wait again) and was told it would be a new service call and I would have to pay the deductable again I told them it wasn't done right the 1st time so shouldn't have to payI was transferred to a supervisorHe hung up on me! I ended up repairing it myself Should I send them a bill?

First off I filed a claim at 9:15amAnd it is 6:30pmI was told that I would get a call back today due to our plumbing problemBoth of our toilets are not working and we can not use themI have a year old and year old and we can not use our bathrooms.I have been on hold all dayAnd nobody will answer the phoneWe are on a emergency listAnd as of now been on hold hoursI feel this company will take your money for the warranty but will not due the services

After two months, we are still waiting for our refrigerator to be replacedFirst American sent the wrong part twice to the contractor after the contractor told F A that a part was not available to fix our frig It has been a nightmare Due to the ineptitude of the company, we are still waiting to have our claim resolved

Refuse to reimburse for work done by outside tech because I didn't know there would be a problem and called them after the fact

This company is a horrible messJust look at the rating 96% Negative reviews! I didn't have hot water for a month due to them and the bottom of the barrel contractors they work withProblem after problem after problemI finally got my realtor involved who had to get his sales rep involved before they finally paid out my claimNow months later they are sending me bills, I argued more they said they would handle it even sent me invoices showing dollar balance, despite that I just got a letter from a collection agency on their behalfLooks like I'll be wasting hours on the phone again trying to get this resolveIf you value your time or like expect to have things like hot water fixed within days vs weeks or months

Sept6th after 5PM - I contact First American and report AC is not coolingCustomer Service says they will have a contractor contact me to set up appointment
Sept7th (one day without AC) - Accent Comfort Services contact me as set up appointment afternoon on Sept9thI want someone sooner and they are booked upI contact First American and customer service tells me the policy - the contact has hours respond and I have no other choiceI will now be without AC until Friday Sept9th in the afternoon
Sept9th (days without AC) - Accent Comfort Services (Christian) arrives and reports a failed starter capacitor and tells me he is replacing itUpon completing the job the AC is cooling and it is 2PMI leave go back to workUpon arriving home after 5PM the AC is no longer coolingI contact First American and customer service tells me the policy - Accent Comfort Services started the job and must come back to fix itAccent does not have after hours or weekend serviceI request First American to send another contractor that can provide after hours service or weekend service but again am quoted the company policySo I had to wait until Monday for Accent to call me back and set an appointment
Sept12th (days without AC) - Accent Comfort Services calls and set appoint for Wednesday, Sept14thI ask for something sooner and they are bookedI contact First American and they tell me the policy - the contract has hours and Wednesday, Sept14th is within policy and there is nothing more I can do
Sept13th (days without AC) - Accent Comfort Services (Jim) arrives and he reports that the starter capacitor on the unit is a bad used capacitor that should not have never been usedHe apologizes, replaces the capacitorAC is cooling and he leavesI contact First American and report the fraudulent work done on my AC and unit and request a 3rd party contract to inspect the unitA bad used capacitor can damage the motor and compressorAfter many hours on the phone with First American and speaking with supervisors, one finally agrees to send another contractor to inspect the workI go back to work and when I get home the temp in the house is degrees and AC unit is struggling to cool down lower than degrees overnight
Sept14th (days without AC) - Rentz contacts me and schedule appointment 3PM to 5PM Sept15th
Sept 15th (days withput AC) - *** arrives and inspects the unit and report it is working and AC is cooling just not very fastHe leaves and I go back to workWhen I arrive home the AC is blowing hot airI contact First American and customer service once again quotes policy - First American must wait to get the report from Rentz and per policy, Rentz has hour to respondMy AC is not working and First American is quoting policy stating I must wait until they get the reportUntil then nothing can be done
Sept16th (days without AC) - I am waiting for First American to call meI expect they will quote policy - a contractor will contact me in business hours to set and appointmentAgain policy states it must be Rentz to contact me and they do not have after hours service or weekend serviceI expect *** to contact me Monday Sept19th to set up an appointment and they have hoursWorse case I will not see a contractor until Wednesday Sept21st or best case Monday Sept19thMy experience with First American has not been very good as a matter of fact it has been less than acceptable

AC repair people caused a leak which damaged our homeA First American representative communicated that the $service fee would be waivedA few months later I noticed that the service fee was still thereAfter many phone calls with First American, they would not waive the service fee of $In general, the First American contractors in the Houston area are unqualified to troubleshoot or perform AC workIn my opinion, if you trust their contractors you risk replacing the wrong systems and having your home damaged by low quality work This is the worst customer service experience I have ever had

I am a year old disabled retired veteran.On July 5,on refrigerator stopped coolingWe reported the failure to FAHW (First American Home Buyers Protection Corporation) and opened a new claim FAHW assigned a contractor to repair the refrigerator The repair technician indicated that the the repair parts need were no longer availableFAHW indicated that their parts department could find the part After days, FAHW indicated they could not locate to repair part They offered me a "cash buyout" for $ The replacement refrigerator retails for $ We are on a fixed income and could not afford the buy out FAHW finally agreed to replace the refrigerator and contracted with Sears to procure a new refrigerator Sears was not able to install a new refrigerator until August 2, 2016.Consequently, we were without a refrigerator for days in Dallas in 100F degree weather During this days I sent FAHW seven messages to which they to promised to reply in hours I received one reply and simply indicated that the status had not changed I made over ten phone mail messages and received two responses This was the worst possible service, particularly, since I am an year old, disabled veteran and we we experiencing 100F degree weather I explained to FAHW my status on every message and phone mail FAHW had no sense of urgency and never have acknowledge any concern for our plight

The company does not stand behind their contractors, in this case the contractor sent by this company created $ 7,worth of damage and they refused to do anythingTheir response was to file a claim on the home owners insurance
