We were with GNG for years in our condo and took them with us upon moving into a house months agoWe were just given our bill of $after being charged $last month and $before thatOur usage and thermostat haven't changed in that timeframeI understand that when the weather is cooler than the company has to increase their rates a little as it is more expensiveHowever, nearly doubling our bill with no limits of how much the increase in charge can be and with no notice or warning is unethical and taking advantage of its customersWe were told we couldn't change to a fixed rate even if we wanted to until mid April due to how long it takes them to process a change.We have been loyal for years and are looking to move on after this

Deceptive marketing about the price plan effective date
The marketing and explanation on the phone regarding the effective date of a price plan is deceptive They say a price plan goes into effect on 12/25/16, from 1.139per therm to per therm, yet the reality is that therm new rate did not go into effect until the next time they come read the meter, in my case 2/10/
If they gas provider is going to continue charging the customer at the old rate until the next meter reading, don't say it goes into effect hours later, when it really does not go into effect until the next time they decide to send a meter reader to your home
There is also something seriously wrong, call it price gouging or whatever, if one minute the rate is per them and the next day they claim the price per therm will drop to
The games they play with price plans are like playing the stock market, I have to pay attention every day to what rates my natural gas provider is charging to get

first, shame on me for not watching them like a hawk
however
the practice of signing up a customer for a commitment, and not communicating when that commitment might be expiring, or offer some sort of outreach or automation that allows you to continue the plan you have signed up for, is sneaky and a trap
I called for the second year in a row complaining that my rates jumped by over 100% and I was told this was my fault for forgetting I signed up for this months ago
this was oct the day after I got my bill showing my rate expired and I was paying 2x for the month before today dec I called to complain that I received this month's bill and it was still 2xi was told I should expect at least 30-days before my new plan kicks in
WTF this is how they treat customerslike the commodity they sell this company should be avoided at all costs, they care nothing about their customers

On Jan 02,I made a payment on my account confirmation*** in the ammount of $On Jan 4th I noticed that my furnace wasn't coming on and noticed that my gas was shut lockI contacted GNG and they told me they had shut the gas off, GNG representative told me that it's my falt amd that I must pay a $reconnection fee, I asked how is it my falt and he said that when I make a a payment online I must notify GNG by phone, I told him that we are in and that it should be automated and that in fact I tried to call but they were closed amd he said yes we were closed on 1st and the 2nd but that I should of called on the 3rdI advised the GNG agent that I didn't call on the 3rd as the system should of updated it self to reflect my payment since its over 24hrs he said NO meaning that their system doesn't do that and that I must pay $to get my gas turned onI also spoke with a super

Then, we signed up for automatic draft, but they still turned off our gas because automatic payments dont go through when there is an outstanding balanceAfter checking the website, it showed me having NO outstanding balance, but our bill suddenly shot up to FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS
And then on top of this we will still have to pay atlanta gas light 65$ to turn the gas back on, which neither company have the ability to waive the fee for some reason

In March of I received an extremely high bill from GNG (my regular bill was roughly $42, and this bill was over $280) and called to inquire about the change in my billThe rep notified me that I should have called them to re-negotiate my price per therm prior to the end of that month as my month locked rate had moved to a high variable rateI was unaware of the need to call, but I agreed to pay the difference (which ended up being months at this astronomical rate) until my "guaranteed bill" would go into effectThey agreed to a roughly $50/month level bill for months, and the rep guaranteed on a recorded line that even if I moved I would have the same level bill until the end of the months
