I will contact IRS regarding this, but wanted the business in questions to understand the reason there were no customer complaint by me is because I have no business relationship with this business and chose not to set up an account just to have my info removed.  I chose to contact you guys to handle this because my information is private and did not want to give info to a company I have no business relationship with.

We are so sorry to hear that you have found incorrect information
on our website and love to help make any necessary corrections or updates. We
are assuming that this is the listing in question
(http://companies.findthecompany.com/l/32116983/West-Consumer-Mediation-in-Sacra... /> list of companies is based on the data collected by our partners. They gather
information from a variety of places, such as court filings, statements of
incorporations, user submissions, and other publically available sources. If
you incorporated your business, responded to a public survey, or provided
information to the government, your company was likely added to our partners’
databases.
To remove the listing, please contact our source database, Dun and
Bradstreet to process this request. The data for your page is sourced from a
3rd party site, Dun and Bradstreet, and our edits or removal would not
effectively change their database. If you we only remove the information from
our website it will likely be re-inserted into our system upon next import.
Updates and corrections to D&B's information can be submitted over the
phone at ###-###-####. There should be no push back from the DnB
team and you will not need to create an account. Once the changes have been
confirmed in Dun abd Bradstreets database FindTheCompanhy will promptly update
the listing on our site to reflect the changes.
We thank you for your understanding and
apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Please feel free to

Dear [redacted],
Arial;">We have both NYC Property Values and FL Property Values comparisons. The sources are as follows:  The NY source is from NYC.gov. This is the official Governmental page for the city of New York.  The FL source is from the Florida Department of Revenue through the Property Tax Oversight Data Portal. This is all information publicized by government. As is the case with all government database, public domain comparisons, we run regular imports from the source. Therefore, should we delete an individual listing, it will simply be re-inserted upon next import. Therefore, we encourage users to make changes at the source of the information.
We feel this comparison is valuable to users as a market research tool. It gives a holistic look at property values and real estate markets. If a user is a law enforcement agent or a protected public official, then we remove the listings immediately and direct the user to remove their information at the source, to avoid re-insertion upon next update. All other users are encouraged to make the change at the source database. Again, once a change is made at the source, FTB will promptly and gladly modify the content on our site accordingly.
We have already removed the owner name from the listing and it no longer appears on our website although it may take longer to disappear from Google search results as they also update their information. Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
The FindTheBest Team

We do understand that it can be startling at first to find your information online, but the data is made publicly available. Government records are public in order to enable citizens to monitor their government and to ensure accountability in a democratic society. Virtually every major change in life is recorded somewhere in a government document. Shortly after you are born, a birth certificate is issued.  If you obtain a driver's license, get married, buy a house, file a lawsuit--all of these events are recorded in public documents easily available to you and to others. Public records are just that--public. There are few, if any, restrictions on the release of this information. In fact, as more public records are posted online, anyone with a computer and Internet access can easily compile detailed profiles on individuals.
At FindTheBest we believe that birth records can be an invaluable resource for genealogists looking to research their ancestors. State and federal institutions have documented births for hundreds of years and digital copies and indexes of more recent records are common. New records and collections are constantly being adding to provide the most extensive and useful information on birth records. When we receive a request to remove a listing from our website or to remove information we grant this request. We have removed Ms. [redacted] listings from our website as she requested. It will take some for the name to disappear from Google search results as their algorithm updates. Unfortunately we do not have control over that aspect. If you need the information to disappear sooner from the search results, please contact Google (http://www.google.com/policies/faq/). Thank you for your understanding and please let us know if you have any further questions.

Dear Mr. [redacted],

Review: Notice to this Co.:It has been brought to my attention, that your site is misdirecting consumers to my personal residence and personal cell phone. This is quite disturbing. I played along, some months back, to correct the business information your co. had listed but know find that the intrusion has become quite worse. Consumers, for a company I do not own, are being sent to me personally!- To my personal address and Cell phone. I am forwarding this final demand that the information be deleted in its entirety and will be sending this communiqu to the FCC for further assistance. This company is hiding under the FOIA and data-mining without regard to the appropriateness of the information it chooses to link and publicly display on its un-solicited add. The information displayed has now caused injury to me personally and the co I work for. The law requires that information compiled and displayed should not harm individuals-however; this co. has done just that. It has caused harm to me personally because I have been flooded with calls meant for the business of which I am an employee. I have to explain, in the best possible way, what has occurred-which is quite difficult. It has caused harm to my employer, as there has been a loss of business due to the misdirection to their services.Again, I played along at first, now I am requesting that my personal information, which is irrelevant to the service of West Consumer Mediation, be permanently removed. I do not want to be directed to any third-parties to search for original sources of data as this is just a needle-in-a-hay-stack approach to dodge your obligation to adhere to the Act.Desired Settlement: I am requesting that my personal information, which is irrelevant to the service of West Consumer Mediation, be permanently removed. Review: FindtheBest / FindtheCompany have posted a webpage about me stating I have a business, when I don't have a business. The only thing that is accurate is my cell phone number and my home address. The refuse to remove it. They say they won't remove it until the information at Dun and Bradstreet has been removed. I'm not in the Dun and Bradstreet database. FindtheBest / FindtheCompany state on the webpage they posted without my consent, that I have two employees and I bring in $120,000.00 in revenue. They put "estimated data" on the webpage, because they know they are just making up the information about me. [redacted] is the operations officer. He has proven to be of no help in resolving the issue.Desired Settlement: Remove the webpage they posted about me without my consent.

Response:

When FindTheCompany receives a request to remove a listing we send them to our third party source Dun and Bradstreet. They remove their information from our third party source who then alerts us of the changes so that we can make the appropriate updates. We had previously removed the listing that Mr. Kershaw wanted removed but somehow it came back into our system. We have personally contacted Dun and Bradstreet and confirmed the removal of information and also removed the listing from our site as well. This removal should be permanent and you should no longer be able to find the information on our site. It may take a couple days to disappear from Google search results. We thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter and feel free to contact us anytime if you have further concerns.

Review: This website has false information regarding me. They have information on the internet showing that I am a tax preparer and that I can be contacted to pre-pare taxes. That is mis-information. I want it removed as soon as possible.Desired Settlement: I want someone to call me and let me know this company has removed my name and information from whatever database they are using, thank you.

Response:

Dear Ms. [redacted] ,

Review: This company, through its affilate FindtheCompany.com has listed our HOME address and telephone number on their website as the contact information for Brunswick East Office Condominiums, Building #1 Owners Association, which is located in Grass Valley, CA, a neighboring community. There is no way to get the information corrected unless we "open an account," which we do not want to do. We have been in touch with the President of Brunswick East Office Condominiums Building #1 Owners Association, and he is as baffled as we are about how this information was every picked up as it is listed. As a result of the incorrect listing, we are getting misdirected mail and telephone calls, and would like for this to stop immediately. On their website, they list Dun and Bradstreet as one of their "third party" sources of information. We have been in touch with Dun and Bradstreet, and have been assured that the incorrect information they have on their website will be corrected shortly.Desired Settlement: We would like the incorrect information on the FindtheCompany.com website to be removed immmediately!

Response:

Dear Ms. [redacted],

FindTheCompany is a powerful research tool for finding key information on companies and organizations. Each month, millions of consumers, business owners, analysts, and sales professionals rely on FindTheCompany's free tools to make critical business decisions.

We have partnered with several of the most respected data providers in the industry. By bringing together dozens of top sources, we can provide the most comprehensive and authoritative database of US companies online. Examples of partners include Xignite, which powers our financial data, and the US Government, which provides official public data, such as contracts, loans, grants, and other firmographic details.

Our list of companies is based on the data collected by our partners. They gather information from a variety of places, such as court filings, statements of incorporations, user submissions, and other publically available sources. If you incorporated your business, responded to a public survey, or provided information to the government, your company was likely added to our partners’ databases.

We have removed the listing from our website and contacted our data provider, Dun and Bradstreet who has also removed it. It should disappear from Google search results the next time that they re-crawl the page. We thank you for your patience and please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns that we can help with. ([email protected])

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 9777633, and find that this resolution is generally satisfactory, as long as the information in question has been removed from their website.

However, the most important point, which they did not cover, is that the address they had listed is a private residence (home), that has NEVER been associated with any business or organization. That point was not acknowledged in the response. We are still trying to find out why our address was ever used, as we have been in contact with the the organization in question, and learned that they have had the same address for 26 years, and never requested a change.
