Great Nation Moving Reviews (103)

Review: Main problem:

Company only performed half the service I paid in full for ($320 for moving 5 pieces of furniture from [redacted], VA to my home in [redacted], MD). The pieces were to be moved up three flights of stairs, but would not fit the stairwell, so pieces were placed in garage. While I do not fault the company for this, only half the job (the easy half of picking the furniture up from a first floor location) could be done. When I asked for a refund of half my paid price , I was initially told by customer representative "[redacted]" that I should definitely be due some reimbursement, but after numerous additional phone calls and emails on my part, I received no further replies from Victory Van lines.

Secondary problems:

1. Movers arrived 2.5 hours late of scheduled appointment pick up time without calling to alert me, then arrived at my home 1.5 hours after I did; their driver claimed "traffic" but I had no such problems and left the pickup location at the same time they did. Huge waste of my time and that of my associates (4 hours total), not to mention the frustration factor.

2. Extremely rude movers.

3. Very poor customer service (failure to return phone calls, emails).Desired Settlement: Credit card reimbursement of $160 (half my paid price since only half the service was provided.)

Response:

Hello [redacted],

We apologies for the service you have received from our company and moving crew.

Review: We booked victory van lines for our move on june 29th. We were told that there is no cancellation policy if we cancel by June 26th. We tried to contact victory on June 22 to cancel our booking nobody picked up the phone so we sent out an email. We contacted them on June 24th and requested to cancel our order. The guy who answered the phone told they cannot return our deposit. There is no cancellation policy that he wants to talk about.we even told that we sent email on June 22nd. The gentlemen says that he cannot return our $500 deposit and told us that we can use in future or for friends.

It is very unethical for a business to operate without a cancellation policy. It is very threatening to the customer to be denied by business that they will not refund deposit money.

We request proper action be taken on victory van Lines as they are operating with no business ethics and cancellation policies. There is no consumer protection.Desired Settlement: We request refund of our deposit money to credit card.

Response:

Dear [redacted]./[redacted]

During the most busy time of the year move any and all moving companies have different rules for reserving moving van and crews. In our company during only the last week of each summer month we do not have the opportunity do return any paid deposit because there will be no time to book another client for the same date. Unfortunately we are unable to honor your request fir a deposit back due to the less than 7 days cancelation you he decided to make. We are sorry and we wish you best of luck in the future.

Review: I planned a move from [redacted], MD to [redacted], KS. Found victory van lines through their website which advertises long distance moves. Visited them in person on 5/21/13 and met with a [redacted] who itemized my items and gave me a quote. She told me they would likely deliver my items within 2 weeks and that they would not even have to store them in warehouse and they would leave it on truck until delivery. On 5/21 I paid $225 to initiate move. Movers arrived on 6/23/13 the moving day and packed up my items. I made a payment of $342 on pick up day. I called a week later to get estimated date of delivery and got no answer. I contacted them again by phone message and email on 7/26 with no reply. I attempted to call and email again on 7/22 with no reply to message I left to a [redacted]. I had my aunt call from a local number and she talked to a "[redacted]" on the first attempt. [redacted] referred to me as "kansas move" and said they held a special meeting about my items. It was determined that they would not make any money delivering my items because it was such a small long distance move. She said that whoever accepted the move from their company made a "mistake". She reported to me that my items are safe in their storage but that if I could have another company come pick them up for delivery I should. I now live in Kansas and cannot get in contact with this company to even set up another option.Desired Settlement: Refund of my money and release of my furniture to reputable mover.
