The customer enrolled on a variable rate plan with two of HIKO’s incentives: Six months of guaranteed savings over the course of one year, and One free month of energy supply after months of services The rate that we offer is a variable rateUnfortunately, due to the big increase in the cost of the energy, our rate has gone upAlthough we can't guarantee savings every month, it is always our intention to do soOn a variable rate there will be times we can be higher or equal to the utility company’s rateThe variable rate is determined by HIKO Energy, based on numerous key factors, including current market conditions and climate For the first month period HIKO’s electric rates have been lower than the utility’s price to compare rates Aug PSE&G rate = 11.31¢ compared to HIKO’s rate which = 10.18¢ Sep PSE&G rate = 10.81¢ compared to HIKO’s rate which = 10.18¢ Oct PSE&G rate = 10.94¢ compared to HIKO’s rate which = 10.20¢ Nov PSE&G rate = 10.95¢ compared to HIKO’s rate which = 10.30¢ Dec PSE&G rate = 10.97¢ compared to HIKO’s rate which = 11.33¢ Jan PSE&G rate = 10.97¢ compared to HIKO’s rate which = 10.86¢ For the first month period HIKO’s gas rates have been lower than the utility’s price to compare ratesThe only exception was January Aug PSE&G rate = 54.39¢ compared to HIKO’s rate which = 48.96¢ Sep PSE&G rate = 54.39¢ compared to HIKO’s rate which = 48.96¢ Oct PSE&G rate = 54.39¢ compared to HIKO’s rate which = 48.96¢ Nov PSE&G rate = 54.39¢ compared to HIKO’s rate which = 48.96¢ Dec PSE&G rate = 54.39¢ compared to HIKO’s rate which = 53.46¢ Jan PSE&G rate = 54.39¢ compared to HIKO’s rate which = 89.00¢ Because we were not lower than the PSE&G January’s rate we will do a rate adjustment to the utility’s posted rateThe customer will receive an email of the details of the adjustment

In regard to the complaint filed by [redacted] ***, please see our position below The customer was enrolled in HIKO’s monthly variable rateHIKO has stayed as competitive as possible, however due to the harsh winter; the cost has increased, causing our rates to increaseAs stated in our Terms and Conditions, our variable rate is determined by the cost, market, supply and demand, and other determining factors Because of this recent rate increase, HIKO has been experiencing extremely high call volumeBecause customers were having difficulty reaching our Customer Service Department, we expanded our CSD over the past few weeksWe have representatives working around the clock to respond to all customer calls, messages, and inquiries After further investigation HIKO has determined the customer will receive a one-time courtesy refund If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact HIKO at ###-###-####

Upon thorough review of the enrollment, our records indicate the enrollment was a Web Sign Up through [redacted] , meaning the enrollment was done through the internet sometime in February Through Web Sign Ups the person enrolling the account is required to enter information that only appears on the account holder’s utility bill, in addition to a valid email addressIn this case the email that was provided was [redacted] which has the same last name of the customerAs an extra layer of protection customers are notified by mail through the utility notifying the service dateThis notification allows customers to cancel the enrollment before the service begins As per energizect.com, many of the rates advertised on that website are not up to dateThe webpage has a Disclaimer which informs customers of the following information: “The offer information on this website is provided solely for educational and informational purposes and may not represent a complete and/or accurate listing of all offers in the Connecticut marketplaceAs with any contract, you should call individual suppliers to confirm offers, terms, and conditions before enrolling.” HIKO’s offer is a variable rate based on current market conditions, which continuously fluctuatesThere could be savings over the course of one year plus one free month of energy supply after months of servicesThere will be times we can be higher or equal to the utility company’s rateRegretfully because this winter we’ve seen some of the harshest weather in yearsThe cold affected electricity generation systems, particularly natural gas, in the Mid-Atlantic and the Northeast such that supply weakened and prices skyrocketedBecause we only offer variable rates, our rates went up to reflect our costUnfortunately, because we feel that we have been compliant we will not be able to do a rate adjustment

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted] , and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because: [Your Answer Here] To whom it may concern, We remain unsatisfied with Hiko's response 1) We have not yet received the $check as promised by Hiko so NO we have not received the full refund as promised by the companyThis is contradictory to what they have written in their responseThey have previously cited incorrect/information in their responses (ieour contract was started in December not October) 2) The company has only been available to address these issues after the involvement of Revdex.comPrior to that, we were UNABLE to get a hold of them - this does not really indicate compliance to the customer as we were forced to seek other channels to open communication 3) HIKO is in direct violation of their OWN contractWe do not understand, as consumers, how this is legalIt is not sufficient to say that "the market changed and so did our rate," when the purpose of switching providers was for a fixed-rate scheduleAlso, we consider this a breach of contractThey did not honor their "GUARANTEED 1-7% rate reduction" for the first months as compared to our prior provider's chargesWe feel we have continuously paid higher than as per our previous utility charge trendWe therefore do not feel as if enough renumeration has been providedThe simple fact is that we feel taken advantage of by this company and it's dishonest claims and promisesWe feel there should be greater attempt on Hiko's part to at least match PSnG (our prior provider) prices if they cannot meet their own claims of lower rates and renumeration should then be made accordingly to that standard Thank you for your time, [redacted] In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above Sincerely, [redacted]

Good Afternoon, This customer enrolled on our monthly variable rate plan in November of via a sales agreement written contractAs stated in our Terms and Conditions, our variable rate is based on the market, cost, supply and demand, and other determining factorsHowever, during the winter, the cost of energy skyrocketed, causing our rates to increase as well Because of this recent rate increase, HIKO has been experiencing extremely high call volumeBecause customers were having difficulty reaching our Customer Service Department, we expanded our CSD over the past few weeksWe have representatives working around the clock to respond to all customer calls, messages, and inquiries This customer's electricity account has been cancelled as of and the gas account will be cancelled as of with out any penalty As a one-time courtesy a rate adjustment will be sent to this customer A copy of this resolution has been sent to this customer Thank you

Good Morning, We received this rebuttal from this customer. We contacted the customer to comply with his request, once he returns our call we will be able to provide the third-party voice verification for his review. Thank you.

The customer enrolled on a variable rate plan with 1-7% savings over the course of the yearWe were able to stay competitive and give this customer a lower rate than his utility until the drastic increase in the cost of energySince this is a variable rate, our rates increased to reflect the costWe do expect our rates to go back down so that we can continue to save our customers money on a monthly basisThis customer also enrolled in our Free Month Program We have done a one-time courtesy adjustment for his most recent bill We have been experiencing a huge increase in our call volumeWe have recently expanded our Customer Service Department to better handle all callsOur Customer Service Department phone number is [redacted] Customers can also reach HIKO by email [redacted] ) or fax ( [redacted] )
