*** *** ***RE: Consumer Financial Protection Bureau - Complaint Reference Number ***Revdex.com Complaint Number ***Dear Ms***:This is in response to your complaint filed on June 10, 2017, with the Revdex.com and on June 20, 2017, with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau regarding a PNC ***money (“***money”) transfer from your PNC Bank, National Association (“PNC”) Virtual Wallet Account ending in *** (the “Account”)Thank you for speaking with me on June 13, I appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns.In your complaint you expressed concern about how ***money was explained to you by a PNC Customer Care Representative (“Representative”) on May 26, Further, you stated that, upon relying on the information that you received from the Representative about ***money, you competed a $transaction with a fraudulent vendor from whom you never received the purchased goodsPNC denies any employee wrongdoing.***money is a service within PNC Online Banking that allows customers to transfer funds to PNC and Non-PNC customersThe funds can be sent using one of the following methods: a direct deposit using the recipient's bank account information, using an email address, or via text messageFurther, if a customer suspects that they may be victim of fraud related to ***money, a fraud dispute request and an incident report is to be filed with PNC; however, this does not guarantee the dispute will be affirmed and the transaction overturned.Also, whether or not a ***money transaction can be stopped, edited or cancelled depends upon the status of the transactionIf the transaction is pending, it can be canceledIf the transaction is listed as “in progress”, a stop payment can be placed on the transactionIf the transaction is listed as complete, the transaction cannot be stopped, edited or cancelledFor more information on ***money, please visit us at ***PNC reviewed your assertions regarding this matter, which included a review of your May 26, 2017, interaction with the RepresentativeUpon completion of that review, we have determined that you were provided adequate information about ***money.It is PNC's practice to refund accounts as a result of bank error, which did not occur in this instanceHowever, PNC is sympathetic to your concerns and, as a courtesy, we credited your Account $on August 16, for the fraudulent transactionFuture credits for ***money transactions may not be provided.PNC apologizes for any frustration this situation has causedYour experience has been shared with the appropriate level of management and addressed accordinglyFurther, PNC suggests the use of other payment methods such as Visa or Mastercard Debit or Credit cards when purchasing items over the internet as these services provide additional protections for customers.For more information on how to protect yourself against fraud, please visit the United States Government websites at *** *** ***.Thank you for allowing me to clarify PNC's position in this matterIf you have any additional questions or concerns regarding this matter, please contact me directly at *** I am available Monday through Friday from 8:AM to 4:PM, Eastern Standard Time.Sincerely,Executive Client Relations
