Review: I Drive Safely (idrivesafely.com) accepted payment from me via credit card, but has spent the entirety of the Defensive Driver Education course trying to upsell me further products, such as a copy of my driving record (which I already have, and got from Texas DPS at a lower cost than I Drive Safely charges) plus video and audio enhancements, and $29.95 express shipping for course completion documents. Because I was only willing to pay the nominal fee of $25.00 for the course, my account was locked down. There is a toll-free number to call about any issue that a customer may have, that advises asking for shipping and feature discounts, and my experience was that the call was answered in a very timely and professional manner, but I have been told repetedly since 8:00 this morning that this is a technology (upon their part) issue that will be resolved in an hour or two. I asked about a refund, thinking that I should choose a different course provider, and was informed that it costs $8.00 to not be able to take this online class regardless of circumstance, and upon further inquiry discovered that any pre-paid mailing costs are non-refundable even though no documents are mailed, and the video or audio enhancements are also completely non-refundable.I consider myself both unlucky (ripped-off for $8.00) and lucky (did not pay $29.95 for mail service, or $4.95 for audio, or $19.95 for video, or twice the DPS fee for my driving record)Perhaps is was just a bad day for I Drive Safely, and perhaps I'm just in a foul mood due to this negative experience, but it sure seems like an awful scam, a business ripping off customers. Sincere Thanks,[redacted]Desired Settlement: Please let them know.

Review: On 05/03/2011, I completed the defensive driving course with this company, the company was suppose to notify the DMV so they can update their records and erase 2 points from my license, I recently came to know that was never done and as a result I have been paying higher insurance premium and also NJ state annually surcharge.Desired Settlement: I think the company needs to figure out a way to reimburse me for the higher premium that I have been paying to insurance companies and also reimburse me for the State annaul surcharge

Hello,

In reference to customer complaint # [redacted] for Mr. [redacted] - this complaint has been responded to with the following email:

This is a SCAM!!! I am a graduate student so paying $30 to get absolutely nothing is extremely upsetting. Nowhere on the front page to order driving records does it say that they cannot be used for anything other than personal use. Why would I need my driving records for personal use? I spent $30 to have them emailed to me, and waited in line at the DMV just to be told that they can't take 3rd party records. Then why are they charging me THIRTY dollars?? When I spoke to someone on the phone they said they can't refund me and it clearly says that in the terms and conditions. Where?! What a great way to steal money

Review: After completing their program for the second time, I received a certificate saying my name was [redacted] is my middle initial. My last name, [redacted], and suffix II were missing from the document. Their website has data fields that require entry in order to advance to the next page such as last name. I was advanced to the last page. I entered my name in the fields as I should have. After contacting your customer support regarding this issue I was told I would be required to pay a $10 fee to have the printing mistake corrected, aside from shipping, which I didn't have money for, neither should I have been asked to pay, regardless.

In Texas if a court sanctioned course is completed on time there is a period allotted after to allow for documents to be processed and turned in. That period lapsed. My penalty for my traffic infraction when up over a hundred dollars and my annual insurance premiums HUNDREDS more! Seeing an email solicitation they sent me addressing [redacted] today is further confirmation that the error was theirs as the printed certificates they sent for completing the course was for [redacted].

After bringing attention to their customer service department regarding the solicitation with a new mastication of my name, again omitting my last name as I entered it on their website, I was again asked for $10 by Willetta in email from IDriveSafely to fix their misprint with no explanation as to why I should pay to fix their mistake.Desired Settlement: For them to fix their website so this doesn't happen again to anyone else.

To change their policy on charging fees for their misprints. That 100% on them even if it costs.

Explanation as to why I should pay for their misprints.

A written apology for their horrific customer service.

Coaching or disciplinary action for Willetta.

A change in their Facebook policy to stop censoring G-rated complaints about their services.

Response:

Dear Mr. [redacted],

I have reviewed your account and show, that on 8/24/2013, we issued a certificate of completion and mailed this via regular mail. On 8/29/2013, a call was placed to customer service, at this time the name on the account was updated and information regarding the original certificate being returned and fees were given. On 11/25/2013 an email was received first notifying us of the dissatisfaction and that the court date had passed.

I would like to apologize for the inconvenience this has caused, and let you know that I DRIVE SAFELY, would have turned the certificate around to you within 24 hours of receiving the original, had the process been followed on 8-29-2013. We also would have done everything in our power to help you work with the courts to ensure the certificate was submitted in a timely fashion. Due to the lapse of time from 8-29-2013, to 11-25-2013, without the original being returned the correction could not be made.

At this time the certificate of completion must be returned to us, in order to issue a new certificate with the correct information. I would like to extend this service at no charge, and also note that even after the court date this certificate can still be used for an insurance discount. Unfortunately, due Title5, Texas Education Code, Chapter 1001, section 1001.205 the $25 fee cannot be refunded. Our Marketing team has reviewed the website and confirmed that First and Last Name field are populating correctly in our database. We have also confirmed that all information including name is verified again at the end of the course to ensure the certificate is issued with correct information. Again my apologies for this situation and the inconvenience this has caused.

Please feel free to contact me directly at 760-692-3235 or by email at [redacted], should you have any further questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Review: I got a ticket in Texas and when I called the office of the issued ticket they informed me that I am able to take a defensive driving course. The course needs to be Texas certified. When I found this website it seemed like what I needed. Now this is where it gets messed up. I entered my information and the information for my ticket. I even paid the $25 need for the course. When I started to take the course all the information about my truck was wrong. I tried to call the business and got nothing. I then emailed the company and they replied back saying I need to call back and they will be able to help me. I finally called them and there was no help. They told me that I need to send in more information and waste more time to 'fix' what they should already have. This site took my money and wasted a lot of my time. I am getting close to the deadline of having this course completed or I will have a warrant out of my arrest. I shouldn't have to keep giving my information and then more information and money. I feel this site is a fraud and stealing and selling information.Desired Settlement: I want this site to refund my money and also be know its a fraud. I want a legit site for taking a defensive course. I want all my information and credit card information shredded, if that is even possible.

Response:

Dear Mr. [redacted]

I have reviewed your account and know that sometimes information is asked for multiple times. This is a regulation set by the state of Texas to validate identity of those taking defensive driving courses. I have tried to reach you by phone to better explain these guidelines and get you moving onto your course, since I was not able to reach you; I have cancelled your account and issued you a full refund. Please allow 30 days for the credit to be added to your account.

If you wish to continue your course or have any further questions or concerns please contact me at [redacted] or by email [redacted]@idrivesafely.com.

Thank you,

Mr. [redacted],

I am very upset with this company. Since the first day my daughter had problems, every time she called to put the pin it always failed her. You call for help we would wait at least 20 to 30 minutes or it would hang up. She finally got through to chapter 9 and guess what the phone system said she passed but the computer said failed, she now had to take the course over again. Why am I not surprised! To anyone looking into going with this place PLEASE DONT! customer service and bad and rude you try to explain and they would say ask if I was finished or if it was their turn to talk. I finally just asked for my money back. DON'T USE THIS WEBSITE!

Review: I went to use there servises when their page froze right after I paid and no matter how many times I refreshed the page it would not go forward. I decided to use another service. They still charged me for the service I never used. Then I called them to recieve a refund they only agreed to give me a partial amount cuz the charged me a servoce fee. All this cuz their link didn't work.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund not a partial one.

We have finished the review of the order, and show that the driving record was ordered with Two-day Express delivery. I DRIVE SAFELY does understand this was not your intention and due to this a representative issued a $36.90 refund to you on 5/15/2013, the additional $8.00 was issued on 5-17-2013. I DRIVE SAFELY apologizes for this confusion and this is the reason this onetime credit has been issued to the account. Please allow up to 30 business days for credits to show on the account.

Review: This company is a SCAM!! I purchased a program for my daughter, 18, in January and it continues to lock her out of the program. She has called Customer Service multiple times. WHEN she has someone finally answer the call, she has received very little helpful assistance to unlock the program, except to START OVER! So, she did. And about half way through the program she was, once again, been locked out! She has tried to phone Customer Service. She has called MULTIPLE times, only to be on hold for over 30 minutes without even speaking to a human! I was on the phone with them during the filing of this complaint... on hold, of course, at this time... over 50 minutes, no human yet! I finally gave up and hung up. Because she has been locked out of the program, she is unable to complete the Drivers education and go get her license. I am very disappointed with this company that they have not provided what they promised and what I have paid for.Desired Settlement: I paid $65 on 01/20/2015 using a debit card. I would like a refund please.

Hello Ms. [redacted],

Review: I took this company's "New Mexico Seller Server Training Course" only to find out after completion that they aren't a recognized provider by the state of NM and the "certification" I had just paid $34.95 ($25.00 = course $2.95 = rush processing $7.00 = immediate digital download) for, was essentially worthless. I called their customer support number and requested a refund based on this. They declined stating that the course had been completed and all they could refund was the $7.00 download fee and directed my attention to a textbox conveniently located on the payment page (This is not explained or referenced on the initial New Mexico page mind you!):"I hereby acknowledge and accept the Terms and Conditions outlined above, and I understand that this course has not been approved by state agency. I have verified eligibility and obtained prior approval from my regulating body to take this course to satisfy a state/city/county requirement."Heres what they do tell you on the "New Mexico" page:"About the New Mexico Seller Server CourseThe New Mexico Alcohol Seller Server course will certify you in the alcohol server training you need to perform your job. Designed for all staff of a licensed establishment, this easy, self-paced course will help you obtain your New Mexico alcohol servers license online, right from home! All you need to do is:Register for your New Mexico Seller Server trainingBegin when you wish, and study how you choosePass the final exam you're allowed unlimited attempts!Get your Seller Server Certificate"P.S. They have a "Revdex.com Accredited Business" logo plastered throughout the page..Desired Settlement: A full refund of $34.95 ($25.00 = course $2.95 = rush processing $7.00 = immediate digital download) to my credit card.

Review: I ordered a driving record from idrivesafely.com They emailed me and told me they were unable to get the record and to click the link and verify my information. I did and all the information was correct. I tried again and they sent me another email saying they were unable to get the record. I called and asked for a refund. They refused the refund saying they had tried to get the record. I went to the Texas website and using the same information and paying Texas directly was able to get the record. I want the $25 I paid them back. They were given the correct information and unable to provide the service.Desired Settlement: Return the $25 for the service they never provided.

Mr. [redacted]:

Review: I work in the restaurant industry in Tennessee. Every five years I have to take a certified ABC class (costing around $100) in order to sell and serve alcohol. However, I was told about a website where I could take my ABC class online at sellerserver.com for only $25. I was pretty elated to learn that on their website it says their course is Tennessee TABC certified. I figured that it was a legit way to take my class and they told me they would mail me my "certification" in about a week. However once I receive this "certification" I find out it is worthless. My work looked into the matter and I, myself went down to the ABC board's location in person and learned that this so-called "certification" will not be honored. They said a "certification" is not honored and I need a permit. I do not claim to know the difference between the two but they seem like pretty generic terms that mean the same thing. I suppose that isn't the case and I'm pretty upset about it. I spent money for something I cannot use and now I have to take another class (and wait for my permit) while not being able to work because of this website's claims that it is accepted by the TABC (Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission). I simply want a refund but that has been denied (also to my friend who is in the same situation). I do not know how this website is allowed to operate under the guise that one can receive an ABC "certification" which as far as I'm concerned is worth absolutely nothing. Perhaps in other states it is different but here in Tennessee this website is not seen as a legitimate or viable option to renew one's ABC card to work in restaurants legally. I simply want this company to be held accountable for their false advertising. Thank you for your help.Desired Settlement: My original $25 would be a good start. I won't even mention the time that my friend cannot work while he has to wait for a real and authentic ABC class to start due to this website essentially tricking him.

Response:

Hello,

In reference to complaint number [redacted] for Mr. [redacted]; we have reviewed this customer's account and have responded with the following:

Review: I received a ticket for a traffic violation and enrolled in an online course through idrivesafely.com as a result. I spent three+ hours on the course, paying special attention to content that was traffic or driving related. I thought it strange that there were numerous pop culture references that were blinking with a sign reading "pay attention to this! it might be on your final," so I acknowledged them as I worked through the material but didn't give them a whole lot of attention since they had nothing to do with the content for the course or the reason I was asked to take it, which was because I broke the law as a driver. there were many quiz questions throughout the course after each unit, and I missed very few. apparently those don't count for anything, which was never communicated to me. when the time for the final came, I was stunned to be asked only pop culture questions. I needed to answer 20/25 correct to pass, and managed to answer 19/25 correct even though I was expecting actual driving content. somewhat in a daze, it said I could retake the final, so I clicked to do so, again not passing, and again stunned that I was asked zero questions about the three+ hours worth of content I had tried to learn. then I was given a message saying I failed the course. I spoke to [redacted] on the phone, and told him i'd follow up with an email, which I did. he never replied to me. I feel that I was hoodwinked into failing a course whose final exam asked me nothing about the content around which the course is supposedly centered. the means of assessment is farcical at best. to add insult to my injury of lost time, I had to pay the state of AZ the full amount for the ticket anyway, even after already having paid idrivesafely.com. So in essence, my issue is that idrivesafely.com promised a course about driving information, and implied that understanding that information would waive my ticket. I understood the information, and was never assessed on that understanding. nowhere in their advertising do they promise to assess you on Star Wars quotes and Seinfeld characters. They refunded a portion of my tuition ($120), but kept $94.95 of my money. It's that money that I want back, since my real request for justice--a do-over now that I understood their rules of engagement--went unreplied to.Desired Settlement: They kept $94.95 of my money, and given that their assessment of my understanding of the actual course content was unmeasured, I feel that I should owe them nothing. They never met their promise of assessing me on anything I learned about driving. They wasted my time, which I can't get back. They shouldn't be allowed to keep my money.

Response:

Dear Mr. [redacted],

I have reviewed both your complaint

and the account. I would like to apologize for this misunderstanding. Unfortunately

the State of Arizona has very strict rules regarding the payments for the

courses and also the exam guidelines. At stipulated in the Arizona Code of

Judicial Administration, Part 7, Chapter 2, section A “Course participation

Questions” means the set of queries asked of a student to determine if the

student is the person registered for the course and participating in the ADM

course. The state does not require a knowledge test based on driving skills. I

Drive Safely makes this very clear to students in our terms and conditions and

the introduction of our courses, as we understand this comes as a surprise to most

students. Below please find the Grading and Progress Policy outlined in the

terms and conditions which were accepted by yourself electronically on January

29, 2014 at 14:25 pacific standard time:

Upon

completion of the course material, you must take the final exam. The final exam

consists of 25 questions pertaining to "environmental" aspects of the

course. Your ability to answer these questions, pertaining to specific things

found only in our course, will ensure that you were indeed the person who

participated in the course. You will only have two chances to pass this portion

of the exam with a score of 80 percent or higher. A Certificate of Completion

will be processed and mailed to you if you pass the exam.

NOTE:

Arizona Supreme Court Rules stipulate that you will only have one chance to

pass the environmental part of the final exam. Look for "hints" that

indicate important pieces of information to remember.

Again we

apologize, if anything stated above was not understood prior to accepting the

terms and conditions. This is why I DRIVE SAFELY operates a 24/7 call center,

so we can ensure we answer all questions prior to the student starting.

The payment for the course is

collected with the court and state fees, however the state and court fees are

held in public accounts until reported to the state. The state requires that I

DRIVE SAFELY send the $20 State Fee and the $45 State Surcharge Fee to the state

on the 1st and 16th day of each month for any student

whom has completed registration. These fees are sent to the state and are non-refundable.

Court fees are held in public accounts until the course is completed. The $120

court fee was refunded due to an agreement I DRIVE SAFELY has with the court.

The $29.95 I DRIVE SAFELY fee is nonrefundable based on the Terms and

Conditions accepted prior to starting the course. Due to this miss

understanding I have issued a credit of 50% of the course fee as a one-time convenience.

The refund of $14.98 was issued today

and should appear on your next billing cycle.

Should you

have any further questions or concerns please feel free to contact me at

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

For the record, I still find their practice of testing students on irrelevant information both misleading and inane, but if the court won't refund money, I guess it is what it is.

Review: THE DETAILS OF THE SERVICES PROVIDED ARE NOT CLEAR. IN SMALL PRINT THEY DISCUSS NOT DELIVERING ON THE WEEKENDS & having to test at an exam location. THERE IS ALSO A PROMPT GIVEN TO DELIVER OVER NIGHT AFTER YOU TAKE THE TEST, but don't have a contract with fed ex to deliver on the weekend.

I paid, & passed with a 92. Unfortunately my documents didn't make it to court in time. Thus I received a guilty judgment.

They tout taking calls 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The initial call is taken, but you are then forwarded to a voicemail, & your call is never returned. I now noticed from their website I'm not the only person this has happened too.Desired Settlement: Even though the class can't help me now, I didn't ask for a refund for it. I do want a refund for both the 2 day & overnight services I purchased. The manager only agreed to return the overnight fee which was the smaller of the 2.

This is small peanuts for an employee who drives a company car, & can't have guilty driving infractions.

Review: I tried to sign my daughter up for online drives ed. However, I paid the $69 then found out I could do nothing but give them my money and wait weeks. I had to get approved by the Department of Motor Vehicles in Oklahoma first then print a form out from I drive safely and send it in before my daughter could even finish signing up with I Drive Safely. So I canceled because I was required to have to send in paperwork showing why my daughters name and mine was different. This was a total hassle. I canceled within 30 minutes of giving them my money. I received a partial refund and was total the rest was a fee I could not get back after registering. Mind you I have not even finished registering. I still have to mail them paperwork or we can not access there website. I was told $8 dollars was just gone that was there fee. Know where on the signup page did it say this or that it would take weeks to get signed up. I would never have gave them my money if I had known this. I believe its away of defrauding people. $8 each adds up over time.Desired Settlement: I want a total refund since I never finished signing with for there services. I want the remaining $8 back. Response:

Dear Ms. [redacted],

We

have reviewed your daughters account, and show that the payment was made on

June 3, 2013. The initial refund of $61.00 was processed on June 3, 2013. The

refund for the additional $8.00 was processed on June 8, 2013 once you request

was reviewed by a supervisor. It is our policy to charge a $8.00 fee for course

cancelled after the initial 24 hours period. Since you cancellation came in

prior to the 24 hour period your request for the additional $8.00 was approved.

Please allow up to 30 days for credits to reflect on your credit card

statement. The state guidelines for parent taught driver educations are very

complex and we do apologies that you feel the information was not clear. You

Review: They claim that taking their online course will reduce the negative points an individual has in their driving record, and they make it sound like 100% guaranteed before enrollment in their course. But after I paid and took the course, and was issued their certificate, it turns out that the DMV will not reduce any points due to a wrong certification, which I tried to change over the phone with their customer service, but yet was told that I actually made the mistake of doing a totally different course. So when I asked for a refund, which they also advertise as a "guaranteed refund" in case a customer isn't satisfied, I was now told that unfortunately because I already took the course I am not eligible. So bottom line, they don't help fixing a mistake on their course, and they don't refund any money as advertised, and I lost money and time, not to mention that I will not get what I needed with the DMV. Total misrepresentation and waste of money and time!Desired Settlement: I want my money back as they advertise, since I am a dissatisfied customer.

All of our courses are completely online, allowing students to study whenever and wherever they want. You can study a lot or a little at a time, at home or anywhere you have a computer connected to the internet. It's the most hassle-free way to complete an online defensive driving courseState Approved.

State Approved

Our fully-approved driving safety courses don't simply meet state requirements; they exceed them. The result is a course that not only helps you earn the Certificate of Completion you need, but also gives you a great online educational experience. We take all of the information and break it down so that it is easy to understand, easy to remember, and fun to study.

It CLEARLY states repeatedly that it IS state approved as 'Drivers Safety school course.' It is represented on the MNdmv website as such & Misleads/INFORMS you: by purchasing this on-line course, you will 'Meet State Requirments' Thus full-filling drivers education. Once you complete the course & move to the next step of behind the wheel - You/I discovered it is NOT a Qualified course & Drivers training classes are Still required, PLUS an additional cost PLUS time lapsed! SCAM!Desired Settlement: Refund my money, so that I can put it towards an ACTUAL drivers safety class & attempt to get my son his license before he turns 17, now!

Response:

Dear Ms. [redacted],

Review: A person taking an on-line defensive driving class often is subjected to many verification of identity. Idrivesafely.com has a voice recognition system but the system failed to process my voice, maybe because I speak with an accent. It offered me to record the way I typed my password as mean of identification.

I spent hours working on the defensive driving class (I completed about half of the class) during the afternoon. In the evening I came back to the class resumed working but when the system asked me to identify myself it did not recognize the way I typed my password. It took me back to the first page of the class mandating me to resume from scratch.

This system is defective, it's not a proper way to identify people.

I asked for a full refund that was refused. The 2 persons I spoke with so far processed a refund minus a $8 fee. I find that it's not fair to charge me a fee because their system failed to recognize me.

Thank you.Desired Settlement: full refund
