In order to complete the enrollment process, all users are required to check a box to agree to Instant Checkmate’s Terms and Conditions. Instant Checkmate’s Terms of Use, like the Billing Details and Frequently Asked Questions also prominently displayed on the website, fully and conspicuously explain Instant Checkmate’s billing terms. Specifically, the Terms of Use describe: The use of this website is subject to the following terms of use:2) Billing and Servicesa) Standard Membership PlansInstant Checkmate offers three standard Membership Plans. I found Checkmate to be misleading with what information they actually provide! I opted for the $22. one month of service and tried to look up someone only to find I was hit with another $1.99 fee and the info that was provided was so basic I already knew all of it from Facebook! Then they wanted additional fees for Premium Information which isn't included in the regular fee. I will never use this service again - false advertising and not providing what they say they will provide. Very much a ripoff!

We do apologize for any confusion Mrs. [redacted] may have experienced regarding our services. Some customers are under the impression that when you purchase a membership with our company you are paying for records; unfortunately, this is not the case. The service that is provided is actually the compiling of all the public records data and the sorting of the data into an easy to read format. When a customer pays for a public records search, we do guarantee that we will search every database available to us, however, we cannot guarantee which records will or will not show up in the final report since we are not in control of the records themselves. We simply display records as they are provided to us.
In addition, premium databases are also more expensive for us to access, so in an effort to keep our monthly membership costs down, we must charge a small, one-time access fee to compile premium reports for our customers.
A premium upgrade is not required to view basic information. However, if the customer chooses to upgrade, their premium report may include:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
What does this mean? We are sorry to hear that Mr. [redacted] was not satisfied with our services Mr. [redacted]’ account has been cancelled, and he will not incur any future charges. He has been honored a refund of $59.16, which is the total amount that Mr. [redacted] has paid to Instant Checkmate. Please allow 3-7 business days for this refund to process. Who is Mr. [redacted]..
That is not the full amount paid to Instant Checkmate and I would like a full and complete refund due to their advertising policies. None of the admissions they stated are posted for anyone to read prior to signing up. After signing up and looking up myself I found a lot of inconsistencies in what they have posted. That is the reason why I cancelled. They need to confirm their information is true before trying to sell it to anyone and their policies should show up prior to giving a credit card. Yes I was wrong but you know I am only human.

Instant Checkmate.com compiles reports from millions of public records including information provided by state and local governments. All of the information contained in our reports is part of what is referred to as the "public record."
We do apologize for any confusion Ms. [redacted] may have experienced regarding our services. Some customers are under the impression that when you purchase a membership with our company you are paying for records; unfortunately, this is not the case. The service that is provided is actually the compiling of all the public records data and the sorting of the data into an easy to read format. When a customer pays for a public records search, we do guarantee that we will search every database available to us, however, we c[redacted]ot guarantee which records will or will not show up in the final report since we are not in control of the records themselves. We simply display records as they are provided to us.
In addition, premium databases are also more expensive for us to access, so in an effort to keep our monthly membership costs down, we must charge a small, one-time access fee to compile premium reports for our customers.
A premium upgrade is not required to view basic information. However, if the customer chooses to upgrade, their premium report may include:

To get any more information, such as criminal report I was asked to upgrade to the premium account. On each try for more information I was directed to upgrade to premium report.
I understood that a complete report would be complete and I would not have to pay more to get the information I was looking for.
