Ms. [redacted] may have experienced regarding our services and any technical issues she experienced when trying to access our site from an iOS device. We do realize that our mobile customers, particularly those using iOS, make up a large portion of our users, and we are working hard to make the site more compatible on these devices.In regards to Ms. [redacted]’s concern about the limited data that was retrieved during her search, Instant Checkmate.com compiles reports from millions of public records including information provided by state and local governments. All of the information contained in our reports is part of what is referred to as the "public record." Some customers are under the impression that when you purchase a membership with our company you are paying for records; unfortunately, this is not the case. The service that is provided is actually the compiling of all the public records data and the sorting of the data into an easy to read format. When a customer pays for a public records search, we do guarantee that we will search every database available to us, however, we cannot guarantee which records will or will not show up in the final report since we are not in control of the records themselves. We simply display records as they are provided to us.In addition, premium databases are also more expensive for us to access, so in an effort to keep our monthly membership costs down, we must charge a small, one-time access fee to compile premium reports for our customers.A premium upgrade is not required to view basic information. 1) Billing and Services
a) Standard Membership Plans
Instant Checkmate offers three basic membership plans. All membership plans are billed up front for the entire term selected.
For a standard 6-month membership, You will be billed $59.16 immediately upon purchase and $59.16 every 6 months thereafter, unless you cancel.
For a standard 3-month membership, You will be billed $44.58 immediately upon purchase and $44.58 every 3 months thereafter, unless you cancel.
For a standard 1-month membership, You will be billed $22.86 immediately upon purchase and $22.86 every month thereafter, unless you cancel.
If your payment for a full term is declined due to insufficient funds, Instant Checkmate reserves the right to bill in monthly installments at the rate You selected.
b) $1.00 Trial Membership
If You selected a trial membership, You will be billed $1.00 immediately upon enrollment of the trial. Your 5-day, $1.00 trial will expire in 5 days. Upon the expiration of the 5-day trial period, You will be automatically enrolled in a monthly membership and billed $29.63 immediately and $29.63 every month thereafter, unless you cancel. You may cancel at any time including during the trial period. See Section 1(d) below.
c) Nonstandard Membership Plans
Instant Checkmate sometimes offers promotional membership offers. If You enroll in a nonstandard membership, Instant Checkmate expressly reserves the right to bill You, at the rate and frequency disclosed at the time of You enroll.
d) Cancellation Policy
You may cancel your membership, including any trial or nonstandard membership at any time by calling our customer support line 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to speak with one of our Customer Service Representatives. Any cancellation request will cancel Your upcoming bill.
e) Refund Policy
Our number one goal at Instant Checkmate is customer satisfaction. If you are ever not satisfied with our services, feel free to call one of our excellent customer support staff 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and we will work to resolve your issue. Refunds are handled on a case by case basis with the ultimate goal of complete customer satisfaction.
We apologize that Ms. [redacted] was not satisfied with our services. As a gesture of goodwill, she has been issued a refund in the amount of $90.56, as per the request in the original complaint. This refund has been credited back to the card that was used to enroll in our services, and no further charges will be incurred.

DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!!. Yes, I just screamed that. I paid for a background check on a neighbor in 2012. I did not realize when I paid for the background check that I was signing up for a lifetime membership and that $29 a month would be automatically charged to my credit card. Why would a company assume that if you pay for a service once that you want to sign up for a lifetime membership? They would assume that if they are SCAMMING people. Again - DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!!

While we provide as much information as possible in our standard reports, some records are expensive to access and can only be offered for an additional charge. Therefore, we charge a one-time fee to compile premium reports for our users.
We do our best to explain to customers what they can expect from a standard subscription. As stated on the FAQ page of our website:
Instant Checkmate's Standard Report contains, where available, a person’s date of birth, phone numbers, address history, related persons, arrest records, government license information, social media profiles including email addresses, and nearby sex offenders. A subscription with Instant Checkmate allows you to obtain unlimited Standard Reports about persons during your subscription period. After subscribing, you will also have the opportunity to upgrade your Standard Report to a Premium Report, which will supply additional and supplemental data about a person, for $19.99.
Any additional charges for features such as premium data or pdf service, are completely optional and are considered extra bonus features that customers can choose to purchase. Our Premium Reports supplement our standard reports by including data collected from additional sources. You choose to buy a Premium Report only for the people you want, ensuring the lowest cost for our standard reports.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
It appears your business model is to sell an inferior service... fully expecting a complaint; then printing your prepared disclaimer items for the Revdex.com to review. You make your money on first month subscriptions from trusting clients, then provide cancellation after collecting. In this way, you never have to improve or even provide a service. You have the freedom to do this legally... which is clever, but unethical. The number of complaints reviewed with similar procedures reveal your ethics very clearly.
If you really have any credibility, you would have at least acknowledged my request for a refund, but you did as expected by simply pasting the disclaimers. Again, buyer beware. In the long run, you will will not profit from this. I will not waste any more time pursuing the claim, but will turn it over to a higher authority.

Charge premium for bogus reports. The reports are completely empty and with info that is already available free on-line using google. Deceptive advertizing by getting you to pay first then try to sell you again to see the information (bogus empty report again) that you already paid for. Don't have a refund or credit policy. Just a big SCAM and a waste of people's hard earned money. Enjoy your yacht, the bill is on me!
