We would first like to apologize for any inconveniences Mr. [redacted] has experienced with Instant Checkmate.  Unfortunately, given the information provided by Mr. [redacted], we have been unable to locate this account with InstantCheckmate.com.  In order to further investigate, and ultimately resolve this matter, we will need additional information regarding the account. Until we are able to locate the account, we will be unable to provide assistance.

The first and last name used when signing up for the account
The email address used when signing up for the account
The first 4 and last 4 numbers of the card used when signing up for the account

All of the information contained in our reports is part of what is referred to as the "public record." We do apologize for any confusion [redacted] may have experienced regarding our services. Some customers are under the impression that when you purchase a membership with our company you are paying for records; unfortunately, this is not the case. The service that is provided is actually the compiling of all the public records data and the sorting of the data into an easy to read format. When a customer pays for a public records search, we do guarantee that we will search every database available to us, however, we cannot guarantee which records will or will not show up in the final report since we are not in control of the records themselves. We simply display records as they are provided to us.In addition, premium databases are also more expensive for us to access, so in an effort to keep our monthly membership costs down, we must charge a small, one-time access fee to compile premium reports for our customers.A premium upgrade is not required to view basic information. This email is in response to the consumer complaint from Ms. [redacted]; reference #[redacted].
We have verified that Ms. [redacted]’s refunds have processed on our side. Two accounts were found under Ms. [redacted]’s name and were cancelled and refunded on 5/3/2016 for $297.18 and on 5/4/2016 for $48.25. If she still does not see them posted to her account, then unfortunately, Ms. [redacted] will need to contact her banking institution to see if the funds are being held. We would also like to advise Ms. [redacted] that the charges are refunded as multiple individual charges and not in one lump sum.

Instant Checkmate is NOT a Consumer Reporting Agency, and using our site as such is a violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Instant Checkmate’s Terms of Use, like the Billing Details and Frequently Asked Questions also prominently displayed on the website, fully and conspicuously explain the FCRA.
Our records show that Mr. [redacted] signed up for Instant Checkmate by entering his personal information and credit card information. In order to complete the enrollment process, Mr. [redacted] had to check a box to agree to Instant Checkmate’s Terms and Conditions.

allows you to obtain unlimited Standard Reports about persons during your
subscription period. After subscribing, you will also have the opportunity to
upgrade your Standard Report to a Premium Report, which will supply additional
and supplemental data about a person, for $19.99.
 
Any additional charges for
features such as premium data or pdf service, are completely optional and are
considered extra bonus features that customers can choose to purchase or not.
There is adequate verbiage that a customer will be charged if they want to
upgrade, but they also have the choice to decline and stick with standard
reports.

total waste of time and money

Total scam. I should've spent 15 minutes reviewing Instant Checkmate's track record here on Revdex.com prior to purchasing a membership. Basic, relatively easy-to-access-elsewhere information was missing in the background/person search I conducted. If very basic information is missing or incomplete then you cannot fully trust the remaining information provided in the report. The add-on "premium" service revealed absolutely no new information of value. In total, a $30 waste of time. Shameful, really. Do not use Instant Checkmate Inc for a background check when the same sort of info can be found online elsewhere at little or no cost.
