I'm afraid I'm going to have to go all Karen on this business.
They were very nice, customer service rep on the phone with me was nice as well. The business though? No.
If you have a large yard that requires all kind of different things done to it, this company might be for you.
If you have a a 50ft by 50 ft patch of land that has no grass, just weeds... probably just wait until you get a weed eater if you just moved.
So this duplex I'm in does not have storage for lawn equipment, and I was looking for lawn service to come by and weed eat the lawn. So this is how it went down.
1) I'm told on the phone that someone would come and give me an estimate on the lawn before cutting. This did not happen. The guy just showed up and started weed eating. I wanted to get an estimate before I agreed. I asked if I would be charged the long lawn fee, he told me "nah, the yard is so small it shouldn't be more than $30 for the whole thing. Should have went with my gut here after he just started doing the job without telling me. This is the first service by the way.
2) It took him 15 minutes or so to completely weed eat the lawn. When I say my back yard is small, I mean REALLY damn small. I called Lawnstarter as the guy was doing my yard and asked them why I wasn't consulted first like the first guy told me I would be, and how much this was going to cost. I was told about $32. Seems a little high for 15 minutes, but whatever. I just moved here, I need the lawn done.
3) I get a charge of, I kid you not, $67 today. I called and basically asked what the hell. Was given the whole "it's policy" bs trope these ripoff companies use to nickle and dime people. $67 for 15 minutes of work. No lawn mower needed. $67 for 15 minutes of weedeating. LOL Are you serious?
So yeah I called and said "No" to their 3 mow policy. I never want these people back on my property, and I don't want their business. I've already ordered a freaking weedeater, which by the way cost me $119. Only $52 more than this ripoff service I received. I don't know where I'm going to put the thing yet, I'll probably just get a tarp and cover it up after use.
If they had been up front about the charges, if they had done a proper estimate like they said they would, if they had any integrity, I wouldn't be so angry right now. I wouldn't have even used their service, because who wants to pay $67 to have someone come in with a weedeater for 15 minutes of work?
I mean, ***! So no, I do not recommend these people.
They may be buying positive reviews on google, because everywhere I look these guys are rated really low.
Just beware before dealing with them.

Scammer they will steal your money they upcharged me 40 dollars without my knowledge and did not credit me. Horrible the support team was extremely rude and is rude to customers. I would never recommend this company to my worst enemy they will take your credit card details and steal your money. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE

a crew came out to do the lawn service for my home and there guy ran over the wire to my septic system. anyone whom has a septic system knows that takes a little while to start giving trouble after something like that happens, after a week and half I started to have issues with my toilets and when I went outside to reset the system that's when I saw the wire had been ran over by a lawn mower. I reported it as soon as I saw it and now this company is saying they will not pay for the damage because I didn't report it within the first 5 days of them coming out. I cant report something that I didn't know had happened until it started to give trouble! so this rule makes no sense. I was charged $225 to fix this and it should be reimbursed to me since they do know it was a lawn mower that did the damage. the fact that they do not want to take responsibility just because it want reported within the first 5 days is just ridiculous!!and shows how little care this company has for its customers!! when a company doesn't care about there customers like that they dont deserve to be in business!!

Fraudulent practices. Crew damaged my fence gate. I filed a claim with pictures. It is very frustrating dealing with them. They refused to do anything. I wish I had read the reviews before hiring them. They get you in by offering $19 deal. I strongly agree with other reviews that the "bait and switch" techniques constitute fradulant business practices.

LawnStarter came out to service my lawn on April 4th. They charged me an appropiate price of $43. 4 days later they charged $392 for services that were NOT completed merely because they had my credit card on file. When I contacted the company to complain they had initially asked for pictures documenting the work that was not completed which were sent in. I never received a follow-up message and have called 3 times with no response.

Please, I implore you. DO NOT use this company in Dallas area. They are thief's. They have charged me twice for services that were not done. And I can not get them to refund the money. Please do not let them do this to you. PLEASE read all the other reviews. These are BAD people!!!!

I cancelled this service last year because the pricing was astronomical. I had to cancel over the phone because the app would not let me. This year, I show another service scheduled so I cancel that, and they still came and mlm owed my lawn. Since I cancelled this and never approved a price, I assumed they were going to charge what the app said ($40ish) which is half of my.money since my husband was laid off due to covid 19. I had tried to put a 1 star on service and somehow their app is magically recording a 5 star. They took 70 out of my bank account, overdraft it and now I have no funds for food until my next paycheck.

On March 24, 2020, the lawn team mowed my yard. The grass was damp from previous rain and they should have waited until another day but instead decided to proceed with the cutting. As a result of their blower or edger, large clumps of grass was flung in three sides of my house. The team did nothing to clean it off. I took pictures and sent it to LawnStarter and the rep said she would have the team return the next day and correct the problem. I was sent an email confirming this on March 25th at 5:56 p.m. to "make sure I was completely satisfied" (their words). I received an email from ***. with this response: Unfortunately, we are unable to offer a repair or reimbursement since the grass clippings are able to be washed off and will not cause physical damages. With the overgrowth that was present at the property, the provider may not have been able to determine the correct moisture level of the lower portion of the grass, which is why they continued with the service. I called on Thursday, March 26th at 3:08 p.m. to say I was disabled and unable to clean it myself and insisted they come back. She actually said the crew "refused to do it." I asked to speak with a supervisor, I was told supervisors are not in their work area and that he (I believe she said his name was *** but not sure) would call me back. Friday passed and no call. I called on Monday, March 30th at 9:33 a.m. and explained to yet another rep the problem and that if a supervisor did not call me back by 5:00 p.m., I would cancel my account. No response. On Tuesday, March 31st, I called at 2.22 p.m. I called to yet another rep who said he had no precious notes on the complaint (?) and cancelled my account.

Requested Lawn Service and this company did not complete the service. I have repeatedly reported to them that the service was not good and not done. They fraudulently charged my credit card and billed my card for more than their website agreed too. This is blatant fraud and credit card theft.

Buyer beware. This company does not take responsibility for incomplete or low quality services provided. They claim to have a 5 day dispute policy, outside of which regardless of whether or not the work was actually completed (in my case it was not), they refuse to investigate a dispute. I've asked that they either have someone actually come by to complete the service or refund the amount they charged (for the service that was not completed). They've consistently refused to do either claiming that because it's outside of their 5 day dispute window, their policy does not allow them to take one of these actions. This business model is not sustainable without taking responsibility for the outcome of services provided (or not provided) and charging customers.

Lawnstarter won't pay me after I sent pictures of work completed. I was a contractor with Lawnstarter. I serviced a customer's yard who requested that her yard be cut. I did that. The customer complained about leaves needing to be cleaned up. I offered to return and fix the problem. The other job was to put down mulch landscape fabric and weed kill. I payed for those items out of my own pocket. The customer did not complain about the separate mulch job. She only complained about leaves on the lawn. The customer needed a clean up done not her lawn cut. I charged the customer 200 dollars for the mulch job which include materials. The customer approved and when she complained about the leaves lawnstarter refunded the 200 dollars and possibly also the money for the lawn cut. Lawnstarter won't pay me because they refunded the money back to the client.

My previous lawn service stopped coming with no warning and I have been looking for a service who can come mow my lawn ASAP before it gets too out of hand. I found them through Lawnstarter.com and received a text from them at 2AM asking if I needed lawn service and I was awake, so I answered immediately. They responded at 9AM and asked if I was free to speak over phonecall and I told them that I could not for the moment but text message would work if that was ok, they said it was. I told them I needed a corner lot done ASAP and my info and to tell me the soonest they could do it. Never responded. It got to 2pm and I texted them again asking what was up because I need to contact someone else if they can't do it, and after another 45 mins I was then told I needed to talk to the office line, which was a robot. I contacted someone else because I was frustrated at that point. It wasted my time because if they would have told me to contact the office line from the beginning there wouldn't have been a problem, and I told them this was urgent and they wasted majority of my day. But I seem like one of the lucky ones because based on many reviews from various webpages it looks like they do credit card fraud quite frequently.

On 11 Jan 2020 a contracted agent for Lawnstarter mowed my yard at my home (***. On 13 Jan 2020 my neighbor, who watches over my home whilst I am away on business, sent me a picture of damage that the person mowing my yard had done in my backyard, namely, his riding mower dug ruts into my backyard. On 15 Jan 2020, I notified *** <***> about the damage and asked what could be done to correct the damage. *** informed me that I should wait for the grass to grow back and that if it did not then they (lawnstarter) would place some grass seed and fertilizer in the rutted areas. I replied to *** and informed her that reseeding ruts in a yard does not fix the ruts, basically I would be left with tractor ruts in the yard with grass growing over them. I made a request to have my property damage repaired as best as possible, by at least putting some soil into the tracks of the ruts and leveling it out. Once leveled then I would have no problem with waiting for the grass to grow over those patches. I was informed that she (***) would not approve this type of repair and when I asked for a manager, supervisor, or means by which to elevate my complaint, I was told it would due me no good because she (***) was the ultimate approval authority. I was assigned a support request ***), which I then used to call Lawnstarter customer support ***, and the representative told me that there was nothing they could do. I was informed that the local office has ultimate authority for property damage and that there was no place to send my complaint for further consideration.

My Daughter has had a very very bad experience with this company. They came out Thursday 1-9 the guy unloaded his lawnmower stood by his truck 10 mins on the security footage then loaded it back up and left sent a completion text and he did nothing. she contacted them and said that they would send someone Sunday 1-12 no one came, then I contacted them they said Monday no show however of course she received a completion text and no one came. Its all on her security system. So they took money out of the account with no services that were preformed and wont refund. She sent the proof on security footage of course that is not good enough. buyer beware of this company the integrity of the company is not worth anything DONT USE THEM they are scammers

This company is advertising their location as my home address. I have nothing to do with them. They are using the address for my personal residence, property that I own, for their business location in Dallas. My address is *** They have no right or permission to use my address. I have tried to reach them with no success.

I cancelled service with this company in October, 2019. However, they continued to come to my home and do the VERY POORLY DONE lawn work into December, when I had to call again to get them to stop!!! They cheated me out of over $80 worth of services taking money out of my bank account that was unauthorized!! They are crooks!

They cut my screen and also left my gate open allowing my 15 YO dog to get out. I cancelled my account with them. I asked for a refund for today and they refused “unless” I rehired them. Managers not helpful.

I ordered a final cut on my front yard only on 10/16. After a few days without hearing anything I contacted customer support. They said I was scheduled for 10/21-10/22. I was asked how much I would pay and told them $30 as I had paid $42 for a front and back previously. I was never contacted but someone came out on 10/22 and cut the front. To my surprise, I was charged $35.59 but I let it go at first. I was then sent an email asking me to review my service for an immediate credit of $20. Since I liked the cut, I complied. I then emailed LawnStarter to find out why my actual cost was higher than agreed upon and where was my credit. Several different CSRs replied , each giving me the runaround and contradicting each other. I gave up.
Then when I went to cancel them completely having read the negative reviews online, they refused to let me cancel; said I was already scheduled for a third cut which I NEVER asked for.
By the way, I checked my email and ALL of the emails they sent have been retracted by them.
I checked my account and they have me scheduled for another cut next week!
I am afraid that they will take another $35 or more from my account. I am a senior citizen living on a fixed income and definitely cannot afford this. Not to mention that I neither want or requested this.
I want to cancel them and get them out of my life!

In the beginning of September 2019, I used the Lawnstarter app to request a quote for additional services ) removal of overgrowth in and around our yard) - I provided 30 pictures of what I wanted done as well as a description of the area I could not get a picture of. I received a quote of $396.42. I accepted the quote and the work was scheduled to be done on 9/22/19 by *** - who had been mowing our yard before. The Thursday prior -9/19 - *** asked me to go over what I wanted done. I showed them everything. On 9/22 I received a message from *** that he had started but had underbid the job and it would be $250.00 more than originally quoted. I told him I would need to discuss that with my husband. On Monday 9/23 I emailed the company in regards to this. I did not hear back from them but on Tuesday 9/24, *** returned and was doing more work. I thought the situation resolved until I received a text message that evening from *** stating that his chainsaw broke and they would be back on the weekend and that the quote did not include hauling off the now very large pile of brush between mine and my neighbors yard. Since 9/24 I have placed at least 30 phone calls and 20 emails as the crew kept coming up with reasons to not show. To make matters worse - the crew marked the job done which triggers your credit card to be charged even though the job is not complete. This also happens with the mowing service. Customer service to me that they were going to pull the payment from the original crew and assign another crew. This never happened. I spoke to a supervisor- *** - who after multiple conversations finally gave me a partial refund of $296.34 and a credit of $195.00 for hauling away the brush still in my yard. He also said a crew would be here to haul away the brush on 10/16. In order to receive the credit for haul away I was told I could not discontinue the lawn mowing service until the haul away was complete. It is now 10/18 - the haul away is not complete , the original job has never been completed and even though their website states if you are not satisfied you don't have to pay that is not true. The crews are unreliable and their system of marking a job complete before it is actually done let's them get your money while you do not get the service and to get anything done is exasperating. I have screen shots of text messages as well as all of my emails if needed.

Sent crew out to trim bushes, weed flower beds, lay down mulch and clear some other areas of brush. Left me with a front yard full of branches, back yard full of branches, cut my neighbors hedges instead of the ones he was clearly instructed to do and no mulch in my crappily done beds. They will do nothing. Said the crew deserves to be compensated for the work they did do. They are not at fault for the wrong hedges and what not bc the contractor quoted me too cheap of a price for the work he’s already done. Just run if you ever hear of this company.
