Review: I dropped off my 1998 [redacted] Horse Trailer to Maaco Painting on September 15, 2014 to have it painted. When I picked the trailer up on Saturday, September 20, 2014, the light plug connector was cracked. [redacted] was trying his hardest to ignore me and when he finally approached me, he stated that he would ask the employees on Monday. He also indicated that pictures of my horse trailer had been taken, which I was aware of. On Tuesday, September 23, 2014, I called Maaco and [redacted] answered the phone. I asked him if he asked his employees and he turns my phone call over to [redacted]. According to [redacted], the person who masked my trailer stated that there was already a crack in the plug, which is totally untrue. Really, who is going to admit to it? Pretty spineless, if you ask me. I realize that it was an accident, but in the meantime, I legally cannot go anywhere with my horses as my lights don't function. Just replace what you broke.Desired Settlement: Replaced and connect my light connector plug.

Business

Response:

All employees were questioned regarding this incident and all had noted the crack was present at the time the trailer was dropped off at the facility. Maaco of Modesto takes such incidences very seriously in an attempt to maintain good customer relations and gladly replace any and all parts damaged at our facility within reason. Maaco of Modesto employees have always reported such incidents to management. Thus, we have no reason to believe the damage was done here and deny any and all allegations of wrongdoing. We regret any ill will Ms. [redacted] may harbor but Maaco of Modesto should not be responsible for damage that was not done at our facility.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: when I dropped my trailer off at Maaco on September 15, 2014, the light plug was connected to my pickup and functioning properly. When I picked up the trailer on Saturday, September 20, 2014, the plug wouldn't even plug into the connector due to a crack on the plug. Obviously the damage happened sometime between September 15, 2014 after 9:00 a.m. through Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 11:45 a.m. at the Maaco facility. Anyway, why would I go to all the trouble to have my trailer painted knowing that my lights weren't working thus eventually getting pulled over, and in anticipation of taking my horses on a trail ride the very next day. My lights were working properly prior to dropping my trailer at Maaco, and not working when I picked the trailer up. If you would like me to secure written, notarized statements that my lights were functioning properly prior to September 15, 2014, I would be more than happy to do so. Also, I would like Maaco to forward me copies of the pictures they took on September 15th. Like I told [redacted], one of Maaco's employees on September 20, 2014, their employees will never admit to damaging the plug....spineless...also we may have another issue with the trailer....need to verify later this afternoon.

Business

Response:

In response to the plug being attached and lights functioning when she brought the trailer in on September 15th 2014, In the attached picture you can clearly see the plug was not attached leading us to believe that the damage to the plug was not caused by Maaco.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: his statement is not true. When I arrived at Maaco on September 15, 2014, I knew that I was going to drop my trailer off, so when I pulled into the parking lot, I immediately starting to disconnect my trailer, disconnecting my lights first. Then I thought, I had better ask him where he wants me to park my trailer, and went into the office to ask. He stated that "I could drop it there and they can move it, or I could back it up into the driveway adjacent to the building." I decided I would back it into the driveway and didn't need to plug my lights back in to back it up.

Review: Merchant did not complete invoiced work and charged me for it all. I have repair estimates and also proof of the work they charged me for but did not complete and since what they did not do is prep work for an paint job the whole paint hob would have to be redone. Not to mention the fact that it was supposed to be completed by the date I picked it up for an specific reason and that the only reason I had them doing the work.. What I would like is for me to be able to go back in time and have it finished when it was supposed to be done so that I could complete the whole reason it was painted. I would like an full refund since I really doubt the merchant can go back in time and fix the work not even being done before it was painted and the fact they gave me an car back that was not even fixed when they knew it was crucial it was complete. Also the merchant submitted false documents to my credit card company to win the dispute.Desired Settlement: full refund.

We have reached out to this customer via phone calls Us Mail. The customer has never contact Maaco. Also the customer has stopped payment on his [redacted] Card and Maaco has not been Paid for any of the Work. Maaco of Modesto is willing to address the customers concerns. Regards [redacted] Maaco of Modesto

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: As of 2-8-16 the payment has been reversed back to them because they provided my credit company with an receipt they had me sign the day I dropped off the vehicle attached to an "completion certificate" that I never signed that is also dated the day I dropped off the car the 28th when I picked up the car on the 30th. I also did go by their location the same date and also before I even left the lot when I was picking up the car and showed his employee my issue. but of course he would not come out and look at it himself. I even have an video of when I was talking to the worker and he straight up lied to my face saying he did work that they did not do.Which was the basis of the whole job. I would understand if the part they didnt do was not UNDER the paint they painted and if that paint woudlnt have to be stripped to repair the issue. But sadly the car would have to be stripped just to repair then repaint the car and the time limit I had to get that painted and repaired is well past. [redacted] knew I was having it painted only because I had an deal with an dealership that they would buy it if I got the paint and those things fixed and had an appointment with them to sale it to them and that dealership declined to buy the car due to an not completed and "substandard" repair job. They left me out to dry Leaving me with an 800+ dollar debt that I wouldn't of even had if he had not promised me they were going to to the stuff they charged me for but diddnt even do... Never has maaco offered to refund me any amount but they sure had no problem making sure I payed before they even did the job and imagine that they didn't even do the work and that is just amazing that is what they are using to try to cover themselves.

Response:

The Company is willing to address his concerns and all paint services have a warranty, If the customer would return phone calls and answer the letter he was mailed Via certified mail asking the customer call the shop and the company would set a time to review his concerns and resolve his issues. The customer stopped payment with out any attempt to resolve his issues. All the paper work on file have matching signatures which was submitted to the credit card company. Maaco of Modesto will address any and all warranty issues Regards [redacted]

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: This is not an issue of warranty it is an issue of an majority of the work I payed to have done was not even done. By looking at the attached pictures you will see you guys never even repaired 7 of the 9 holes just used my bondo that was temporary and you told me you would remove and painted over it. One of the 2 you did fill the body filler is hanging down to the point that its actually touching the interior roofing. The little [paint you guys did do would have to be removed to repair the holes. So I am literately no better off then before I dropped off the cars to you guys? But you guys want me to leave my car there again to do what? I would hate to see what it would look like if I left it there again.....

Horrible. Does not do the work you pay for. Whatever you do dont fall for the "deposit" payment they ask for when you drop off your vehicle.

Review: I TOOK MY CAR THERE TO GET REPAIRED AND MY DOORS ARE NOT LEVEL AND THEY PUT A USED DOOR ON AND DIDNT SAND THE RUST AND PAINT THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR.Desired Settlement: I WANT THE DOORS TO BE LEVEL AND THE RUST SANDED AND PAINTED ON THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR

Business

Response:

The customer returned today to have her door re-aligned which we completed while she waited and took only 10 minutes. She never mentioned anything about the inside of her door when she was here or we would have addressed that at the same time. We will call her first thing Monday morning to resolve any concerns she may have.Thank you

I was told my vehicle would be restored back to pre-accident condition. It was not. I got bullied into signing and paying for a job that was not to my standards. The only thing [redacted] could do was to tell me stories. Sorry [redacted] that doesn't fix the crappy job you did on my vehicle. Just to let [redacted] know that instead of spending so much money on advertising, maybe if he would just do the job he promised you wouldn't need to do so much advertising. The best way to advertise is through word of mouth. I definitely will not refer anyone to you. In fact I will definitely get your name out so people know NOT to go through you. All I asked was to fix my vehicle back to how it was and instead you made it worse. Sure the bumper is not cracked anymore but the paint job looks like crap. I got home and read the back of your "Thank You" envelope and noticed on the back under "Maaco Sets Standard For Service" = Honesty, Quality, Reliability.

You don't meet any of your basic concepts. I really am surprised that you still have a business.

Just because I chose not to go through insurance doesn't mean you can screw me over. My husband is a service manager and would not deal with people the way you do. Let me ask you [redacted], "would you have accepted a vehicle of yours with air bubbles in the paint?" My husband and I take extremely great care of our vehicles and are very particular. I told you guys that from the beginning, so I am very surprised that you didn't take that in to consideration when I did choose your place of business and do a better job. I was very upset of my mishap to begin with and now you just made it worse. Thanks [redacted]!

Response:

Revdex.com,

[redacted] had his car painted at our facility back in June. Upon completion of the vehicle [redacted] paid in full and left thrilled with his 2000 truck. A few days later he returned to show us the broken front cowl. We explained that the cowls are plastic and over time are prone to cracking from general vibration and sun exposure. After all the car is almost 14 years old. [redacted] was not in at the moment so our estimator took notes with the promise we would be in touch the nest day. We then proceeded to leave two messages for [redacted] that wet unanswered.

Maaco prides itself and making sure ALL our clients leave happy.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]

I was not thrilled by the job they did.when I took the car home,I went to open the hood it would not open because the wiper cowl was put on the wrong.I went back to have them put on right which I did. when I told them the cowl was broken they said they never took it off.the worker who fixed it said they did.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Sincerely,

Review: The trunk of the car was not completely painted. There was a removable antenna that was not removed and remains an unfinished white spot. I had body work done and pointed out the need to have antenna removed before painting. When I told [redacted] about it stressed it was too late. Maaco customer service told me the same.Desired Settlement: I would like the trunk painted to fix defect or a partial refund.

Consumer

Response:

At this time, I have not been contacted by Maaco Collision Repair & Auto Painting regarding complaint ID [redacted].

Sincerely,

Review: Please note that I am filing two complaints Maaco and I have separated them out into two separate paragraphs.

I brought my car (2001 Audi A4) into Maaco for repair in February 2014 and I noticed a few days ago that some paint was peeling off near the fog lights and the tow-hook. It's not a huge area (maybe about the size of a quarter), but I do not want it to spread. I called Maaco and they tried to blame the problem on me. I can certainly understand that rock chips and whatnot would not e covered under any sort of warranty. However, peeling paint is another issue entirely in my opinion.

The other day I had brought the car into [redacted] for a tire rotation and I noticed that (one way or another), the headlight washer cap was damaged. Upon inspecting the damage, I noticed that Maaco never finished the job: they failed to paint underneath the caps. Therefore this section of bumper is still colored tan (the color of the donor car which the bumper came from). This is simply unacceptable; the job was never finished.

Between my father and I, we have brought 3 cars to Maaco for either repair or a full paint-job and have been very satisfied in the past. I even recommended a friend ([redacted]) to them; he brought his new Mustang into them after a hit and run. I'd like to continue to use and recommend them in the future. But after the nasty way in which my phone call was handled today (compounded with the fact that they forgot to replace the coolant in my car after servicing it last year), they're going to have to earn my loyalty back.Desired Settlement: I'd like them to repair the flaking paint and paint underneath the washer caps.

Review: Hired MAACO on March 4, 2015 to fix 2 small places on my car. Picked up my car on March 10th and was dissatisfied. The replaced piece was tilted up on the drivers side. Waited 30 days to see if it would go down. It did, I returned for the "touch up". Dissatisfied with that. Looked like someone used white out on it. This last time returned to get car and worse than ever. Got paint everywhere. Believe he had a young boy working on it. Have pic's to show what it is.Desired Settlement: Not sure..... after dealing with this for this months, I am frustrated. The manager [redacted], was quit rude. He said and I quote, "What do you want on THAT CAR?"

Business

Response:

Revdex.com spoke with [redacted] from the business. He said that he has repainted the two plastic pieces twice. The molding was not mounted down as flat as it should have so they took it up to remount it. In doing so a small chip happened in the paint. He has attempted to fix it but a small spec is coming through the paint. The estimate acknowledges paint imperfects might occur he is not sure what else to attempt in this vehicle. I let him know I would reach out to the customer at this time to see where we can go from here he said he would be open to options but he is not sure what she is really looking for he is willing to attempt it again.

Have [redacted] pictures to show the little speck [redacted] called on. Only the one side had issues the drive side. the other one was fine, the side that had issues was redone the last time it was redone there was paint on my car, not only the surrounding area but the back driver window as well as the back door handle and a gob of white paint under that that seems to have fallen while repainting was done. if these pictures are not clear enough a movie of the damages is available per request of the Revdex.com or Macco auto.Thank You

Review: I dropped my vehicle off at Maaco on 9/7/15 for a paint job. They had quoted me a turnaround time of 4-5 days, saying it would be ready on 9/11/15. I received a call on 9/10/15 saying it wouldn't be ready until 9/14/15. When I arrived on 9/14/15 and was inspecting the vehicle, I had noticed a lot of overspray on multiple trim pieces as well as areas that weren't even painted. I pointed these out to the manager [redacted], who said he would have these fixed. I returned on 9/18/15 to pick up the vehicle. This time, I had noticed that behind the door guards was not painted. To make matters worse, there was bare metal that was not sealed and prone to rust. I have two stripes on both driver and passenger doors that are 2'Lx2"W that aren't painted. When I pointed these out to the manager, He said to bring it back for a warranty repair. I asked about transportation in the meantime so I wouldn't have to come out of pocket on their mistake; they retracted their warranty offer saying it was not their responsibility to get a rental even though it was their mistake. I cannot afford to be without a vehicle. Now I have a vehicle which hasn't been painted properly and a warranty that isn't worth anything. I am tired of arguing with these people to fix their wrong.Desired Settlement: I would like to receive a refund so that I can go to someone who can do the job properly and stand by their warranty.

Review: I on 2/11/2013 had Maaco auto body & paint Due all 100% bodywork and paint. The day I picked up the Monte Carlo I pointed out problems with paint job and some areas of bad paint job and bodywork.

Maaco agreed to fix and repair. After 2 weeks I brought car back and showed other problems Car was having due to paint drying. Maaco agreed this was the problem and they would fix & repair at a later but soon date. When a date was agreed upon and I brought Vehicle in. I found that the owners had changed.

New owners stated they were not required to fix vehicle due to the fact they were a franchise company and not beholder to Maaco's Warranties. I took them to court had to drop charges due to the fact that Corporate Maaco's and franchises Maaco's due not have to fix Vehicles from other than there own.

The franchise Maaco on Watt ave. in North Highlands Sac Ca 95660. The Maaco that did all body work and paint. Then business was sold. New owners only will fix certain sports in case. But past owners did all the body and paint.

Contacted Corporate Maaco and was told take car back to Watt ave Maaco and they will fix.

Contacted Watt ave Maaco to set up date. Watt ave maaco stated they were not going to fix the whole car just the small areas. I contacted Corporate Maaco let them know that I had the same problem. No one has gotten back to me since this has been going for over 2 years.Desired Settlement: I contacted Corporate Maaco let them know that I had the same problem. No one has gotten back to me since this has been going for over 2 years.

Review: I received repaired services to three different areas off my car. To begin the contracted price was for 600$ to paint over minor scratches on the rear bumper, remove dent in the right finder and paint over, also blend finder to front right bumper of car. The car was in the shop three days I reserved a rental out of pocket. After receiving the vehicle the rear bumper was out of place from not being put in place correct. The issue was minor and because I work out of town I could not make time to have a minor bumper issue be replaced, it was until a few months after the work was done by to the finder, the finder snapped out of place causing the finder to come up and detached from the right front bumper of the car, when I went to shop on October 2nd I was refused services and was refused to discuss the warranty the services had. I am now filing a complaint for unsatisfactory of work and inaccurate contract of warranty. I am requesting the shop Maaco be responsible for the damage they have not fixed.Desired Settlement: If a repair is not available I am requesting a full refund.

To whom it may concern,

Review: Took my truck in with insurance docs for full replacement and ended up getting bondo repair instead. Maaco has my truck ransom and ins check still.

The truck was taken to Maaco after getting a quote for full replacement and repair of body damage. [redacted] insurance help point provided all documents to be given to auto body shop with job details and breakdowns. Due to the fact that this was a comprehensive claim only $100 deductible applied. [redacted] from help point [redacted] came to my residence and took pictures and evaluated that the drivers rear fender must be replaced down to a minor ding in the hood etc and some OEM power wagon decals of which the hood decal alone was almost 500. Ms. [redacted] is available via her cell at XXX-XXX-XXXX or her supervisor at XXX-XXX-XXXX. I took my truck in the morning of 8/8/2013 at apx 8:58. I was told about a week before that by [redacted] whom works at Maaco that he was ordering parts for my truck and that it would be about a week and they'll be in and my truck would only be in there shop for 5 days but all my parts were in. It's a work truck so scheduling is extremely important and it being out of commission for long was an issue. [redacted] is also one of the managers where I live and he had brought me two estimates after business hours at my home. One was for a repair and one for replacement, I told him beings that its an insurance claim and a new 53,000 dollar truck that I wanted it replaced. The difference in the two quotes was only 400 or so. All the more reason I said replacement. So I gave my adjuster the replacement quote from Maaco and she worked her documents and a two party check on he spot with Maaco as the assigned replacement shop. On Monday 8/5/13 I received a call from [redacted] at Maaco where my truck was. I had told him the Friday before when he called and told me all my exspensive body parts had come in for my truck that I had a busy Monday. So Monday came and went then he called me on Tuesday and I was in a meeting with my CEO of my company and was having him sign the check from [redacted] so we could get to work on the truck and we could get it in Wednesday morning of which happend. Myself and Ms. [redacted] 42 of Anderson CA XXX-XXX-XXXX and I whom is also my partner and accountant took the truck to Maaco Wednesday 8/8/2013 and were on site at apx 8:45. The very first thing I did was hand [redacted] the claim documents from [redacted] and the check from [redacted] signed by my CEO [redacted] 74 of Shingletown CA XXX-XXX-XXXX. He looked at them and said he had to make some adjustments on his computer and started tapping away. I mentioned to him as instructed by Ms. [redacted] my adjuster that if they had any more need for funds adjustments etc for Maaco to contact her directly which her contact info was on the documents. [redacted] said great and that he was just about to print the docs he adjusted and I just need to sign authorizing work to be done on the truck and hand him the keys. Then he pointed out a spot I needed to initial stating that I didn't want to messed up parts returned. Ms. [redacted] whom witnessed every bit of this statement asked him what they did instead with messed up parts long a big old bent up fender. [redacted] stated they recycle them. All seemed great and straight forward. I felt in good hands knowing [redacted] knew what I wanted done and what the insurance documents stated. Frankly who would want bondo like that on an almost brand new truck.Desired Settlement: Please note my description does not fit in your 4000 characters. I want my truck back and fixed correctly. It's not fair they tried bait and switching me and took the insurance adjusters docs as well as the check from [redacted] and still have it and my truck as ransom.

Business' Initial Response

I think we can keep this simple.

The customer came to us with a request to repair his vehicle and save him money. Our sales rep gave him 2 estimates: 1 to repair the damaged bedside and the other to replace the damaged bedside. (Repair was less expensive than Replace). There were other repairs involved, but this is the customer's main dispute.

The customer chose to repair instead of replace. He signed a contract requesting the repairs. He is familiar with auto body paper work. He used to own his own auto body repair shop. We did all of the repairs mentioned on the contract. We are entitled to be paid for the work that he requested and that we performed.

We had no preference to perform one type of repair over the other. We were happy to do whichever work he wanted. We replace and repair truck beds regularly. We performed exactly the work that the customer chose & signed for. The customer told us what to do. We did it. It is in writing.

We do have a check made by his insurance company. As I told [redacted], it is useless to us. He can have it back. We have not and cannot cash the check. It was made for different work than what his contract requested. I told him that.

Consumer's Final Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

Because they accepted insurance payment and documents upon taking the truck in for work. I was told verbally that the documents were being adjusted according to the insurance docs. It's the shops responsibility to mantain honesty and integrity in the work the represent. Not to mention that though they claim repair was done the work was so absolutely shotty and bad that I wouldn't have accepted the truck work no matter what the claim is. I have never seen such horrible work let alone a bait and switch tactic like this. I was mislead with comfort. I will pursue civil actions

Business' Final Response

I'm not sure what the customer wants at this point. The customer complained to the BAR about this. They investigated and determined that we did have a valid agreement with the customer. They felt that the work requested on the agreement was performed accurately. In fact, one of the inspectors commented about how nice it looked. He said that he was expecting something a lot worse based on the customers comments. The customer had expressed concern about one body line that was not perfect. I agreed to redo that portion, (by the left tail-light).

The customers insurance company had said that if the BAR determined that we had a valid agreement with the customer, then they would re-issue the payment check and work order to match the work that was agreed to in writing. They did that yesterday on September 3, 2013. The customer picked up the vehicle on the same day.

As I mentioned earlier, I am happy to fix the minor line variance whenever the customer can bring the truck back in.

Review: My Ford Mustang is in their shop to be painted. This is the 3rd car I have had painted at this shop, and I had a 4th one painted at a Maaco in Vermont, so I a not a new customer to Maaco or this franchise location.

While in their care the ignition was broken. They called to say "the car won't shut off." [redacted] from Maaco said he would call around to find out what needs to be done. He called back to tell me what he had found out. During the phone call it became obvious that he intended for me to pay for the repair. We haggled a bit then he stated "Okay, the customer is not always right, but we will pay to get this fixed." I said thank and we both hung up., with me at least thinking the issue was being resolved. About 30 minutes later [redacted] called back to say the estimate is $245 to fix the ignition and they would only cover $45 of the repair. I told him that the car was working fine when I brought it there and I was not going to pay for an ignition that was broken in their possession. I have no way of knowing how their technicians treated this car while it was there, or even if they stripped parts off of the vehicle to put on the nearly identical Mustang that was in the shop at the same time. The vehicle was in their care, and the formerly well functioning ignition is now broken. They need to cover the cost of the ignition part they broke.Desired Settlement: Fix and cover the cost of repair of the ignition

[redacted],I dispute many of the claims that [redacted] makes in his reply.

Review: Maaco in Petersburg received my vehicle on 11/11/2014 due to an accident. I received a phone call from my insurance indicating my car was a totaled, but I still got a reasonable refund. [redacted], the estimator, gave me a print out for repair and I asked him to do them. This was all within a few days time. I began calling [redacted] toward the end of the month to see how things were going with the car. He assured me that everything was fine, and I would have my car within about another week, so at this point I explained to [redacted] to do everything to the car besides paint it. I needed to repair a leak from the radiator, and I did not want my paint job damaged. He said okay.

I started calling in December 2014, and he gave me the same explanation that everything was okay. I said no worries, and that I would give him a call within a week. I also went to Maaco to see what condition my car was in. I saw the work started, but not finished which included the airbags and the sun roof was open at the top. [redacted] said that everything was finished, but it just needed to be assembled. I said okay.

I called in January and I got the same response, and he explained to me that he had loss the person that would be doing the airbags repair, but the work would be completed within a week. I wait until February, I went to Maaco again, and the same response. I looked for my car, but I did not see it, so I thought the car was being repaired. I then go and find that my car was the last car on the lot in the same condition as it was in December. I waited until the middle of March 2015 and I made a formal complaint to corporate in regards to my car. I began speaking with , [redacted], the owner of the Maacos in the Tri-city area.

Mr. [redacted] assured me repairs would be complete within about a week, and I picked up the car on April 21, 2015 with the airbag light on. [redacted] explained to me it was probably a code. I took it to [redacted] which cost $181.27 to get airbags calibrated.Desired Settlement: I wanted [redacted] to accept responsibility for an incomplete job., so I gave him documentation of repairs on May 21, 2015 It did not have to come the form of money I paid out. I still wanted some other things done to the car, so this could have been worked out a lot differently than this.

When we talked on May 28, 2015, I am disappointed that Mr. [redacted] did not take the time to complete the job or at the least know why the light was on. He explained to me that when the airbags may had not needed calibration when installed. That makes me feel very uncomfortable, because during our conversation it was concluded that he did not know what the problem was, and this could have easily been a safety issue that was taken for granted. Jacklyn from Corporate stated they did not have jurisdiction to enforce anything, because the shops were owned individually.

[redacted] stated that he did not have the equipment to complete the job, but this is supposed to be a certified car care center

CASE # [redacted]

Review: I went in there to get my car painted and minor chips and door diges and replace both bumper covers , signed a work contract with a warranty for 4 years and paid $1200.00 on 07/17/12. Contract states that 4 warranty covers 100%. Ive been there numerous times to have the paint redone while under 100% warranty and they wanted to charge me additional $600.00 & have my only vehicle for an entire week. Same place last owner I was charged $51.00 for bumper cover , these new owners charged me $300.00 for the same bumper cover. Paint was faded and peeling almost immediately after I got my car back. Maaco did not honor its service/work contract.Desired Settlement: I want a full refund of money since they are in breach of "their" service/ work contract and warranty they say they give. They messed up the paint on my vehicle and even under their 100% 4year warranty charged me an additional $600.00 to repair what they had originally caused.

Review: They painted over all inside door rubber ruining it. Painted over all door latched, jamming locks. Runs in paint, missed areas etc.

I brought my Jeep Wrangler to their business to be painted. Before hand I did the prep work sanding and pretty removing almost all parts from body not to be painted. This grealy reduced the work needed to be done on their part. However the general manager [redacted] said there would be a extra charge per door due to more paint needed and extra labor to mask off rubber/latches inside door jams. They did NO masking, completely painting all rubber and door latches. It was so bad, upon re-installing locks all the internal mechanicisms were painted frozen. Had to remove everything inside doors, soak in paint stripper and put back in. Complained about all the rubber being painted over. They removed it and said they would romove all the paint. All they did was spray paint it black to cover up all the orange paint. It's all ruined now. There are runs all over paint and misses areas along with splotches of "orange peal" where they goofed up the job and spot sprayed over it. Also even tried to touch up one of their own scratches. There's also paint all over my new black mags rims, lug nuts and chrome hub covers. I have lots of pictures upon request to re enforce every word of my statement is accurate. They were very unprofessional. Desired Settlement: I would like them to repay me for all the rubber door seal I had to purchase. Money back also for the hours I invested to remove, strip off paint from all door latches and re install. Hours that will need to be spent removing paint or replacing vehicle rims and money that will need to be spend sanding out runs in paint and repainting etc.

Initial Business Response

the customer came in stated he wanted everything painted as he stated in his complaint he had removed everything he didnt want painted to save him money...when he came back he told my asst the issues and wanted $100 for the rubbers, after speaking with my husband we agreed to purchase replacement rubbers however he has not called us back, we also put on his paperwork that after 30 days we would take care of the runs under the windshield the customer did not have any locks in the doors - also we have photos there was nothing on the rims we use a product called slime to protect them and we put tire covers over the wheels when it goes in the booth

Final Consumer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

I never stated I wanted a free paint job, just some sorta credit for replaced rubber and costs to correct this very poor careless paint job. I feel I have been quite reasonable in stating my expections on my prior statement (which aren't very high). Actually, I'm generally very reasonable and easy to get along with, but, for oblious reasons I don't want them working on it any longer. For any intrested party that feels I'm trying to manipulate this situation just to "get ever" on a business, I'll be more than happy to foward over the pictures and let them do the talking for me, or I have a better Idea, they can just send some of the pics I send them for a neutral party to look over...

Final Business Response

This customer is one you can not please - I felt that from the beginning -& I didn't want to do his job we have tried to contact him to make him happy but he refuses to answer our call us back - when he picked up the jeep he signed that he inspected the vehicle & was satisfied that we completed the services and now he keeps coming up with things to try to get a free paint job. [redacted] has now added more items to his list and my answer is how can I address or fix things that he doesn't bring to us to see and address.... so I am sorry that I feel his items are false & he is again just a customer looking for a FREE paint job... I too have photos as to the locks & wheel issues that I can prove to be not accurate... the runs under the windshield were things we brought up & I have photos because we stated upon delivery that we would fix them yet he has not come back just filed complaints that keep inflating to justify him getting a free paint job

Review: In January of this year, I took my 2003 Mitsubishi Galant into Maaco Auto Painting in Laguna Niguel. In July of this year, I noticed that the paint on my rear bumper was flaking off. My original salesman, [redacted], said the best he could do for me was to repaint the bumper for "his cost of $200". I went home frustrated because I had done nothing to cause the paint on my rear bumper to flake off and felt it should have been covered by the 2yr factory warranty which I purchased.

In October of this year, I noticed that the paint on my front bumper was flaking off under the license plate frame. I had done nothing to cause this, but I had taken the car through the drive-thru car wash on a few occasions (apparently, the pressure of the felt pads on the license plate frame at the car wash had caused the paint to chip off). I felt that this was an unacceptable paint job, and I took the car back to Maaco for repainting of both the front and rear bumpers under warranty. [redacted], my original salesman, looked at the car, and said he would need to talk to his manager inside the office. We went back to the office, and [redacted] talked with his manager, [redacted]. Mr. [redacted] didn't say a word to me but took one of his employees from the shop to look at my car. The local manager conversed privately with [redacted] went back out to my car and took some pictures of my bumpers. He wrote my phone number down on the back of the sales contract and said his manager would call me. I said I thought that Mr. [redacted] was his manager. [redacted] said "another manager" would call me. I asked [redacted] for the name and phone number of this "other manager". He said his name was [redacted] and assured me that this manager would call me that same day. I waited one week for that call and it never came, so I called [redacted] back. [redacted] answered the phone, took down my phone number, and said he would give it to [redacted]. I waited for 3 days for a return call from [redacted] and never received one.Desired Settlement: Have both my front and rear bumpers painted under warranty so the paint doesn't flake off when taking my vehicle through the drive-thru car wash. Determine what regulatory agency is responsible for overseeing the quality of aftermarket auto body painting.

Review: While I had my car at Maaco Collision Repair, Redding, CA being repaired, parts on my car were exchanged: head lights, hood pad, fog lamps, engine cover, steering rack, cigarette lighter, side lights and possible more. Ninety percent of these items were brand new. When I got my car back I had used items.Desired Settlement: I want the new parts back on my car and the engine checked to see if they took anything else.

Mr [redacted] came into the shop, with his wife, in the early

afternoon on Dec 3, 2015. He first

talked with [redacted]. Then I; [redacted]

reviewed his claims with him. He claimed

we had swapped 4 NEW items on his car with 4 used parts from another Audi. First he claimed that one of our employees

had stolen the items to put on their own car. When [redacted] explained that none of our employees have an Audi, he

changed the story to we had changed the parts to put on another Audi that he

saw on our lot at the time. He said he

had just purchased and installed all 4 items before bringing his car into our

employee and what work they accomplished on each day. I have these reports for every day of the

last 4 years. I reviewed these documents

from the day before Mr [redacted]’s car came in to the day after he took it

there another Audi having work done on our lot. I shared these documents with Mr [redacted]. We had no reason to swap out any parts.Hood Insulator: A Note

for free. And we had no reason to trade

out any other parts. We will not be

issuing refunds or paying for parts he would like us to replace.

Review: I paid 1127.37 for a paint job on my personal vehicle. Paint job is horrible. Old paint is showing around several spot. Paint is chipped off in areas. Paint has runs from overspraying in areas. Some areas have spots with little air bubbles that formed when painting. Overall is just no attention to detail and worst paint job ive ever seen. Also along edges by windows where tape was pulled off it apparently took some paint off with it.Desired Settlement: I would like a full or near full refund. They clearly did not do what they were paid to do. I do not want them to try and fix it after seeing how they paint.

Response:

Mr. [redacted] had not contacted us by the time he got in touch with the Revdex.com. He called a couple of days later. He returned to the shop on 9/27/2014 to show us his concerns and made it very clear that he in no way was going to try to settle this out of court. He took a picture of his car at the shop so he could prove that he came back in to talk to us.

I personally spoke to him and told him we would be more than glad to take care of his issues but he refused. Mr. [redacted] was expecting perfection and did not pay for perfection. I told him that when he came in I went over that with him and decided that this is the paint service he wanted. If he wants to pay to have all the parts pieces removed so the edges will be perfect, I told him we could do that and he would just have to pay for the labor to do that. That was more money than he wanted to spend.

In the beginning he wanted ALL the dings and dents fixed and when I told him that alone would be around $2500, he declined having that done. We advertise that we will get most of the chips and scratches not all. There were a few chips missed on the right fender. Even though he did not pay to have the jambs done, he expected that some of the jamb would be painted because he didn't like the way it looked.

We are still willing to take care of his issues if he brings the vehicle back in. Attached is a copy of his invoice.. Please feel free to call if you have any further questions.

Thank You

Hello this is [redacted]. In my last reply I forgot to mention the fender that the maaco owner described as having chips. I am attaching a photo which clearly shows these are not chips and maaco is lying to Revdex.com as well. I showed her these when I brought car back. There are 5 air bubbles from a painter doing a careless and very unprofessional paint job. I am an honest person and have indeed been done wrong by maaco kennewick. Thanks for your time.

Regards,

The quote she described is much different from what she actually said. She said I asked for all the dings to be removed which is a flat out lie. I asked about 2 dings on the door and she replied well if you want every ding out its gonna be around 2 thousand. I said I have a ding king tool which can remove them so ill use that. I have a witness that was there with me during the estimate as well. As far as perfection goes this isnt even close to a half decent paint job. Which a judge will confirm upon seeing the large amount of pictures I have. I am going to have another car paint shop look at my paint job and have them give an overall opinion and price to fix this horrible paint job. I plan to take this matter further to legal action once I am prepared to do so. Oh and the door jambs, I did not ask them to paint them whatsoever. I complained because I said I didnt want them painted yet they are half painted on both sides. Its like they closed their eyes and sprayed my car. Paint on lights that illuminate my license plate. Paint on trim everywhere, on tail pipes, even the gas tank. Very unprofessional.

Response:

I am still willing to fix Mr. [redacted]'s vehicle. He started pointing out many dings and I said that if he wanted all the dings out it would cost $2500. I know our charge for that and would not have made an exception for him. Then he pointed out a hole in the left hood edge that went all the way through and a dent on the back hatch both of which we repaired.

When a customer changes color on a vehicle and doesn't get the door jambs painted, we mask back a couple of inches so you can't see the old color when you are standing there with the door closed. Most customers don't want to be able to see the old color with the door closed.

I think Mr. [redacted]'s expectations were higher than what he paid for. He got an economy paint service and not a show quality or new car quality paint service. Again, I am willing to fix the concerns that he has about his vehicle.

The owner is correct stating that I did ask them to fix the hole in hood and dent in rear hatch. As far as the jambs go they were not masked off just randomly sprayed. There are no masking lines whatsoever. I refuse to let a company have a second shot at painting my car after screwing it up so badly the first time. I was unnaware an economy job means paint drips, air bubbles, paint where it shouldnt be, and original color showing everywhere. This is ridiculous. Im tired of the lies and excuses maaco. If the owner would like to try and settle this monetarily they can give me a call on my phone. Otherwise I will be taking them to court. End of story.
