When attempting to cancel monitoring service we were told that we were sent an UNCERTIFIED letter saying our contract was being extended and that in order to cancel our service we had to pay the remainder or this mysterious UNCERTIFIED agreement that we never received in order to cancelAfter spending over an hour on the phone and unable to speak with a supervisor we were informed that someone would contact us with further information in 24-hours If this is the practice of a company that receives an "A" from the Revdex.com when all of the information I've come across on the web clearly reflects the common misleading representation of this companies practices I am very troubledI HIGHLY DISCOURAGE anyone from signing any agreement with this company as their practices and policies are truly despicableI feel that as a consumer I have the right to fair business and the right to negotiate terms when a contract has endedNot to be subverted into a fictious UNDOCUMENTED agreement

Horrible companyTakes out your money when you ask them to wait or wait until a certain date! They take it whenever they please AFTER saying they will wait!

This company makes you jump thru hoops to cancel accounts I was transferred to different people and they refused to cancel or move my account However, they wanted me to sell the new owner my alarm or my to give them the information of my buyer so they could sell my alarm

Monitronics failed to maintain and or repair the system to perform the intended purpose System first started to fail in early December The system could not be repaired by changing all the back up batteries individually, one after another The company would not send a technician to repair the problems To make matters worse, the company would not let me speak to a supervisor to insure that my problem was known and understood thoroughly I was told that no supervisory personnel were ever available on weekends Finally, during the first week of January 2016, I received a call from a contract repair specialist I called him back the next day but he never returned my call, at all I called customer service again and notified them that they had until Monday January eleventh to fix my system or I would hire another company for a new system and monitoring I received a call on Monday stating that a technition could be scheduled for Tuesday January 19th I had a new system installed by a competitor at seven PM on January 11th I am totally unhappy with Monitronics equipment, customer service, telephone technical support, field support and the availability of supervisory help to solve continuing difficulties in dealing with inept personnel

This seriously feels like extortionI can't believe this company is still businessThey don't deliver on what they say they do and if you try to get out of your contract they try to force you to pay whatever's outstanding when the service didn't work in the first placeI've never had a worse experience with a companyI've tried to call for resolution multiple times with NO helpI wouldn't with this company on my worst enemy

Hey if you are reading this before you make a contract with them here's my advice run away from them as fast as you can!! They said in case you moved or if lost your job you could brake the contract, well the truth is that not even dying brakes their contract, the monotronics don't care if you can't pay it or if you can't take it if you have to move they just make sure you pay , and also last times the alarm whent off for no reason and I gave them the pasword and all the info they asked and they still charged me for the service of sending a guard but I gave them the pasword to let them know there was something wrong with their sistem but I still got charged 35$ so I don't even turn on my alarm anymore, I hate their stupid system!! Why go through this when you could get a more professional alarm companyð away from monotronics.ð its too bad I never looked at their reviews before I got this contractð

Very displeased with the service and cancellation policy of this company My service has not been working for a year but I still paid my monthly bill on time When I talked with the technician in the past, they wanted to send someone out to my residence for a fee I am a senior on a fixed income, have been a loyal customer for many years but could not afford to have them come out to look at my panel and could not get the system to work from past phone technicians I later tried to cancel my service and they told me that I had to cancel in writing and they would not accept a fax but only a mailed letter I asked them how would I know when they received the letter, the rep stated it was automatically days to cancel whether they receive a letter or not The cancellation policy is flawed and I believe that they are dragging out the process to get customers to stay on their service longer and make extra payments when they should be able to cancel at the time of their request I would not recommend them to anyone

This is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with as far as customer service goes They do not want to let you go, they are terribly rude and I would avoid them at all costsBefore you sign up with any security company, find out who is doing the monitoring I tried to find out how to cancel my service once my contract expired I wanted to go with a bundle from another company The woman I spoke with tried numerous scare tactics with me to get me to stay, including going so far to tell me about a woman who was raped in her own home because she didn't have the proper security set That is just uncalled for I sent them a notice of cancellation and they are still bugging me I just returned the call from some account service manager and he had hip hop music playing loudly in the background Is this a bar or is it a business When I asked why he was calling, he was rude I gave them all the information the needed in my letter AVOID Monitronics and read the fine print carefully on any security company years is a long time to be locked into something useless

I wish I had looked up Monitronics on the Revdex.com before deciding to use their services, perhaps we would have saved some money and a lot of headacheWe had no issue during our service and use of MonitronicsHowever, when it came to needing to cancel service, our positive experience was quickly washed away like many othersWe sold our house, moved out of state, and moved in with familyThus, we did not need to continue our alarm services on our sold home, nor did we have a place to move our services to
The difficulty getting Monitronics to finally cancel your service is what ends up costing you money; paying for a service you are not using, nor wish to be usingWe had first made a phone call asking to cancel service, provided all of our "validate who you are" informationThey advised us they needed a written statement with our passcode and suchMailed in that letter (which takes time to mail things), eventually we were mailed a different "formal form" from Monitronics and were told we needed to complete and submit that form (contrary to our phone conversation)By the time the "official" form was complete, and we had to pay for our "days from cancelling", we paid for two months of service in an empty residenceLargely caused by the company and no fault of our own
They also continued to call and ask for our business again despite how many times we told them we no longer had a home or place to protect anymoreThey were very aggressive in their tactics and take advantage of peopleThe cancellation policy should not be so difficult that it takes you over a month to achieve
We will never recommend or use this alarm company again

I am so upset at this point with this company I've been dealing with Monitronics since September First of all, my parents have had this service (basic/standard) for years When we initially changed the service from the standard basic service to wireless, from day one of this process, first we had THREE different people come to the houseFirst, because they put in the wrong pad, then they came out the second time and they didn't have the compatible one for the wireless/cellular service then finally the third person got it right, after taking off work THREE different times Since my father passed *** is the ONLY sense of security my mom has and if it was up to me I would have CANCELLED! After someone tried to break in her home she wanted cameras, please note that was May of We are in December and we ARE STILL having issues with the cameras When we first got them they were NOT working and of TECHS that came out put the incorrect cameras in our home When we figured this out we had another tech tell us that and then we had to wait on ANOTHER tech to bring them by making another appointment because second tech didn't have them with him So that was another week or so Let's get past the other three techs that would temporarily fix it and move on The last incident in September was when the tech had Monitronics call us hours before the appointment to tell us he was not going to make it; again after another day off work When the final tech came out it was told to us that the wireless was not strong enough, that was SEPTEMBER 2015, not the initial appointment from the first issue that was less than days from the initial installment Then in September I find out that cameras are NOT monitored by them and I was told when purchasing them in May they were monitored! So this weekend (Sunday, December 6, 2015), the cameras are OUT again! Then I find out that if they cameras are gone out WE WOULD HAVE TO PURCHASE NEWWWWWW CAMERAS because they are ours, we bought them, per the TECHICAN over the phone! I am so over this company and them not being accountable Ohhhh, wait - did I mentioned that we paid over $for the cameras with the sensors in my mom's house? Andddddd, the agreement was to pay in installments (due to my mom's monthly fixed income) Monitronics withdrew the funds from her account not ONCE but TWICE via AUTOPAY! I absolutely DESPISE this company! We have sent so much money and they never had a problem taking it From the transitioning of the standard service to wireless, we purchased remotes, medical remote, window sensors and outdoor cameras and we still can't get good service from this company I am at my wits end and will probably have to purchase more cameras, but they won't be from MONITRONICS, I assure you of that We just wasted tons of fixed income money due to the fact that my mom TRUSTED them and wanted to give them the service because that was her comfort zone Now she is terrified because her cameras keep going down and we keep getting different reasoning as to why! We never got the correct reason because if that was the case we wouldn't be here, right?

moni customer service is horrible from the techs to the higher ups!!!!

I had Monitronics come and install a security system at my home in The package that I went with was with exterior security cameras on the exterior of my home, motion detectors on the interior and a camera in my living room with a motion sensor I got the package where I could monitor my cameras from anywhere with my smart phone I gave them a personal check and authorized them for auto drafts for my monthly payments from my account This company contracts outside techs for installation For the first 2-weeks the system worked fine They were drafting my account on a regular basis Then, I contacted them and told them their security system wasn't working and I wasn't going to be paying for a security system that I couldn't use They had a tech contact me and since he wasn't the one that did the initial installation he wanted to charge me a service fee of over $ I told him that I would not pay a service fee due to this being a new installation and Monitronics should either waive the fee or pay it themselvesHe was apologetic and agreed with me but since it wasn't his installation it really wasn't his problem After numerous attempts and phone calls on my part with no positive response from Monitronics to correct the issue I stopped the payments I told them that either fix the equipment or come pick all of it up because I refuse to pay for faulty equipment and a service that I wasn't receiving I started receiving phone calls from them stating that this phone call was being recorded and inquiring about my balance owed on my accountI told them to forward my call to a supervisor only to be put on hold for 20-minutes then would be told by the so called supervisor that I needed to speak to another supervisor This was each time and I always told them to fix it or come pick it up! Then they quit calling so I assumed they weren't going to do either They turned my account over to a collection agency whom I told the same story to and told them that my account should had never been turned over to them because I paid as agreed as long as the equipment worked and I shouldn't owe them a dime because I told Monitronics to come pick their faulty equipment up on numerous occasions and the conversations were allegedly recorded by Monitronics Today, I joined a credit monitoring service and I'm just now seeing that Hillcrest Collection has filed a derogatory amount against me in my credit report for Monitronics for $2476.00!!!! I was furious to say the least so I called the number on file for this company and got a recording that the number wasn't valid I called again thinking possibly I dialed a wrong number and got the same recording! Then, I called Monitronics and spoke to Patty and asked her to pull up my account and I asked her if she was looking at my account on her screen and if she could see how many times I've called and spoke with Monitronics in reference to their faulty equipment and the charges they were trying to get me to pay for a service that I couldn't use! In addition I asked her if she could see how many recorded phone calls that Monitronics had recorded of our conversations In the past of my complaints to them about their faulty equipment and how many times I told them to fix the problem or come pick all of their equipment up! I was transferred again to her supervisor Patty! Same story just another time I told her I wanted this derogatory report removed from my credit report because it wasn't my fault they had installed faulty equipment and they were informed numerous times to come pick it up because I wasn't going to pay for a service I couldn't use! I was told that she couldn't do anything about it because it was turned over to Hillcrest collection Agency in and I would have to contact them! I told her that my account should have never been turned over to them and that it was Monitronics fault! I wanted to speak to someone in the company that had the authority to get this corrected and have this removed from my credit bureau report! She tried to tell me that no one could do this but I could call back tomorrow and speak to her supervisor Todd but he couldn't do it either! So, I told her apparently she wasn't comprehending what she was being told! That I was going to look up and see if there were any other negative complaints about this company and I bet that if I go on social media and ask for anyone whom has negative complaints about this company and we all get together and file a class action lawsuit then the Company would have someone with the authority to make executive decisions I told her that their executives would probably think it would be in Monitronics best interest to remove this claim against my name in the credit bureau because I do not owe them to begin with and it needs to be corrected and removed ASAP!

*** Dickson and *** Sifuentes from Lubbock, Tx pulled my credit without my knowledge or authorization on December 21st They were trying to get me to purchase alarm monitoring and I told them I was going to think about itI decided to go with someone else since I felt that anyone representing a professional company that would drink a beer while trying to sell me service during business hours seemed shady as it isAfter doing research locally I found out that both of these guys are scamming people and pulling credit without authorization, changing pricing after the sale, and installing used equipment off of eBay but stating that it is new from MonitronicsI also heard they were pocketing downpayments and not reporting them? Buyers Beware!!! Now I am going to speak with an attorney about getting this removed from my credit report and trying to punish these guys for what they did

I've had the system installed for about two yearsI have maybe gotten consecutive months' usage out of it without some kind of an issue, problem, or malfunctionPolice departments in my area write tickets up to $for a alarm, so it defeats the purpose of having it installed when you are scared to even use it for the possibility of getting a huge ticketEven as I write this, the system malfunctions left and rightThe moment I get my certificate enabling me to use it from the police department, guess whatmore malfunctionsWould NOT recommend anyone get into a contract with this company

Worst company ever! I wouldn't recommend this company to anyoneWe were sold this security system by a gentlemen named *** who worked for Vision, he told us that we could cancel the security system at any time, with no charges I asked him about cancelling numerous times because I feel most companies wont tell you about hidden fees or how difficult it will be to change things once you have it He assured me repeatedly, that I could cancel at any time and I would not own moneyWe had an issue with the door lock, and even when the techniques came out to fix it, they put it on sideways and it never workedWe ended up moving from our house so we wanted to cancel the security system When I called Vision to cancel It, they told me they no longer owned my contract that it had been sold to some company called MonitronicsI talked to a few different customer service rep at Monitronics over a long period of time asking what my options were since we no longer lived in the house Not only did I get horrible customer service, the manager I spoke with named Ashley was awful She was very short and rude with me I have worked many customer service jobs and if I ever spoke to anyone the way the employees at Monitronics spoke to me, I would have been fired They said I had a year contact, which I was NEVER told about, and if I moved the security system I would have to sign up for an additional months on top of the yearsNeedless to say, they were never of any help, I just paid the full amount that we owed before our contract ended this May So the past years I haven't lived in my old house, I've been paying this bill that hasn't benefited me in any wayI will NEVER, go threw this company again, and I would NOT recommend it to others

I have had this system for about a year nowFirst when the guys who sold this system to me first arrived, they did not let me know I was signing a year contractThen he came into my house and saw that I had cats and a dogHe installed motion detection in my homeEverytime the cats would set it off when I am ot home, they sent out police to home and charged dollars EVERYTIME! I called and asked for it to be removed and the representative told me they could not remove it! I asked for them to not send out anyone if just the motion went off and nothing elseThen the door went of along with the motion and again someone was sent to my homethe system has things going off all the time randomly when I am home so I know it does when I'm not thereAt this point I am tired of this system and no longer want itWhen I called to cancel I was told there no point in cancelling because they are going to continue to charge me for the next five years!!! This is a stupid policy and if you have to trick people into signing contracts, your service isn't that good to begin with and they know that! I have told several people to not get this system and the only reason I leave the stickers up to convince anyone that may have the idea to invade my home think twice "thinking" I have this security systemI will NEVER have anything to do with this company every again

Everyone has been helpful and we have not had any problems

I called Monitronics today, to cancel my service, (had them since September, 2011); their cancellation policy is unbelievable for this day and age! I ask to speak with a manager, the woman I spoke to, spoke so low, I had to continually ask her to repeat what she was saying! She told me that the written letter cancellation policy was for my own good and protection; (really)! Then, she stated that once they receive my letter, my account will cancel days thereafter! What a rip off! Up until this time, I was always very pleased with Monitronics! Never had a problem except the occasional low battery signal call! I am so dissapointed with Monitronics now!

This company is a poorly run company and not worth the savings and will not keep your family safe I signed a year contract with them to give me security at my house because I wanted my family to be protected while a deployed to Afghanistan Never once did my wife feel safe when I was fighting for our country, miles away She used to cry to me when I talked to her because the system never worked It went off twice, improperly, in the middle of the night when I was gone because of a malfunctioning sensor that good not be fixed by this company Trying to talk them in the states is a hour phone call, trying to fix things from Afghanistan was impossible and I gave up after trying for weeks They actually came out to the house times and were never able to get it fixed, yet they still think that I should pay out my contract even though they failed to provide any service over a year period One of the independent contractors actually recommended a different security company and admitted Monitronics-Alliance is one of the worst security companies out there I am embarrassed to say I didn't read reviews before I signed the contract because I thought all the services were the same and it was a good idea to save a few bucks Please look else where for a security company, you will not be happy with this company's service, customer service or equipment

I have been with Monitronics for nearly five years In that time, I've had ZERO problems with the service or equipment The cost of service is more than reasonableThough it would be nice to upgrade my wall unit, I don't necessarily want to pay anything to do so I've had instances where the quality of equipment and service were proven to be as advertised I plan to sell my house and move in a yearWe'll see if I have any issues with a cancellation or moving my service Unless things go completely opposite of what my experience has been, I expect it to go smoothly!
