American defense is the better choice of home security Anthony [redacted] walked me through the whole process and the installer [redacted] was very patient and also walked me through every process and took his time explaining the whole set up just like Anthony [redacted] I'm very pleased of their service and I would only recommend American defense security especially if you are military or a veteran this company is owned and started by veterans hay support the troops if no one else will we must support ourselves.

When attempting to cancel monitoring service we were told that we were sent an UNCERTIFIED letter saying our contract was being extended and that in order to cancel our service we had to pay the remainder or this mysterious UNCERTIFIED agreement that we never received in order to cancel. After spending over an hour on the phone and unable to speak with a supervisor we were informed that someone would contact us with further information in 24-48 hours. If this is the practice of a company that receives an "A" from the Revdex.com when all of the information I've come across on the web clearly reflects the common misleading false representation of this companies practices I am very troubled. I HIGHLY DISCOURAGE anyone from signing any agreement with this company as their practices and policies are truly despicable. I feel that as a consumer I have the right to fair business and the right to negotiate terms when a contract has ended. Not to be subverted into a fictious UNDOCUMENTED agreement.

This is an company that will take you money and not provide service. Will not let you out of a contract unless you become a sales person for them and find someone to use the remainder of their contract. Lost my house to short sale, no release, apartment complex would not allow system install, so I paid $40 plus a month to have sign in yard for 2.5 years. Now living with a friend, who works for a security company and has free system with that company. Only option Monitronics gives me is to contact the people that bought my house and sell the the rest of my contract. Not a good way to take care of customers I will never never recommend this company. I will never dupe someone else into becoming a customer for this company. While I the phone, I requested they cancel my account as soon as the contrac is over and they said no, I have to send a letter requesting cancelation.

In July 2012 I signed an agreement with another company who was then bought out by Monotronics. In Oct 2014 we moved. I tried to cancel our agreement and pay it outright, they agreed. Next month they called and said that we could not do that without faxing a confirmation letter to headquarters, did that. 2 mth later they called and said again we cannot pay off & cancel. I said FINE. Few mths ago a rep on the phone said he would lower my payments & defer 2 mths. Never happened! Now they tried to have me agree to another contract on my previous house (why would I want to put the people who bought my house thru that, they don't know my codes), lower my payments, and they say that the understand that we live with my parents. This company does not listen & the hire individuals whom work like that, not a group whom should work as one.

Monitronics failed to maintain and or repair the system to perform the intended purpose. System first started to fail in early December 2015. The system could not be repaired by changing all the back up batteries individually, one after another. The company would not send a technician to repair the problems. To make matters worse, the company would not let me speak to a supervisor to insure that my problem was known and understood thoroughly. I was told that no supervisory personnel were ever available on weekends. Finally, during the first week of January 2016, I received a call from a contract repair specialist. I called him back the next day but he never returned my call, at all. I called customer service again and notified them that they had until Monday January eleventh to fix my system or I would hire another company for a new system and monitoring. I received a call on Monday stating that a technition could be scheduled for Tuesday January 19th. I had a new system installed by a competitor at seven PM on January 11th. I am totally unhappy with Monitronics equipment, customer service, telephone technical support, field support and the availability of supervisory help to solve continuing difficulties in dealing with inept personnel.

Very displeased with the service and cancellation policy of this company. My service has not been working for a year but I still paid my monthly bill on time.

When I talked with the technician in the past, they wanted to send someone out to my residence for a fee. I am a senior on a fixed income, have been a loyal customer for many years but could not afford to have them come out to look at my panel and could not get the system to work from past phone technicians.

I later tried to cancel my service and they told me that I had to cancel in writing and they would not accept a fax but only a mailed letter. I asked them how would I know when they received the letter, the rep stated it was automatically 30 days to cancel whether they receive a letter or not. The cancellation policy is flawed and I believe that they are dragging out the process to get customers to stay on their service longer and make extra payments when they should be able to cancel at the time of their request. I would not recommend them to anyone.

This company makes you jump thru hoops to cancel accounts. I was transferred to 5 different people and they refused to cancel or move my account. However, they wanted me to sell the new owner my alarm or my to give them the information of my buyer so they could sell my alarm.

I had been having trouble with the system. It set off an alarm whenever I tried to arm the home as I left. (But of course it waited until I was out of earshot and out of the driveway). Their concern was evident by their indication that a repair person would call me in 24-48 hours. I do understand that these things are contracted out; the possibly long response time is a reflection of how worried they are about my safety - I mean really,,, if I thought I didn't need the alarm for 24-48 hours - why bother at all. I had to leave the country on a trip then, and it remained unarmed. Then they had the gall to tell me the repair people did call (of course during the time I had told them I would be away) and since I didn't answer, my repair request was cancelled. I COULD HAVE BEEN LYING ON THE FLOOR DEAD. I called when I got back and got a whole additional runaround. It took me almost 30 minutes today trying to cancel the service - and all the rep would do it cancel the automatic credit charge. They need a letter - which I totally understand - but of course will not accept a signed fax - even thought I can actually buy a house with a signed fax. And she asked me to please explain in the letter why I was cancelling!!! The gall. AND - she said that the 30 day cancellation period begins AFTER my letter is processed, presuming it contains all the necessary information. ARGGHHH.

Our Monitronics system needed some repairs for which we paid several hundred dollars. Our next monthly statement increased by $7/month. We were told the new "better" equipment was under a more costly plan. We were never told this before the repairs were made. This poor service is something I wanted to share so others do not get in the same mess.

I have not service from one year ago but anyway they are taking my money from my bank. I move out from my previous address one year ago, we notified that to them but looks like it doesn't matter. Now I am forcing to pay $ 250.00 more to they stop to taking money from my account. I DO NOT WILL NOT WANT ANY OF THIER SERVICES!!! Have never been involved with a company who will NOT take the hint. Who bothers me on a daily basis. Extremely disappointed with this company.
