I called and canceled my account about days outI was told I needed to send a written cancellation
I was a customer for over yearsI completed the process as requiredThey told me they didnt receive my written cancellation in the appropriate timeframeThis is a lieI called in and sent written requestWhen they told me they didnt receive a written request to cancel, I sent a second written requestBut I was told I had to pay $for another month of billing with a late fee
Their customer service did nothing to help this issueThey could see I called days out and I feel they were just trying to get another month of paymentI just went ahead and paid this last request because my credit is not worth them ruiningI don't NOT pay my billsI completed the process as requested and feel they should not have received this additional moneyI tried explaining this to their "rude" customer service who was clearly only out to receive their extra paymentAfter all of these years and not one issue of a late payment you would think they would have looked at the totality of the situationThe funny thing is I was just moving and was going to sign back up in a few monthsThey tried everything to get me to stay but when I told them I would reach back out when I resettled in my new place, they obviously did not like this response
That is perfectly fine because they will never get my service againI refuse to feel like I am being extorted for an additional paymentThe issue was with the principle behind what took placeI could care less about the $and feel like this cost was paid to get them out of my life
Monitronics, there is no need to try and refute what took place with a hollow response that you all careYou obviously don't and companies like yours will be exposed for your unfair billing practices

Please take this and the other billing complaints on the internet into account if you feel you want to use this company for your alarm monitoringPractices that people discuss on the internet are documented and use them at your own riskJust realize that you will probably face similiar issues if you use them when you go to cancelIt's not worth the headache and I suggest using an honest monitoring company

On 12/15/I came home to a blaring alarm, but no one called me regarding it When I called Monitronics to see why no one called to see why my alarm was going off, I was informed that my phone was not compatible with their system and apparently I had been paying for and not receiving any monitoring since NUMEROUS calls to resolve this resulted in hours of me punching buttons and hours to find a real person Once I found someone, she agreed to credit me months of service (even thought I'd paid for months of service that I didn't have) and install a compatible system for free Not great, but I took it She said she'd have an installer call me A week went by No one called I called her back...remember, I'm wanting to continue as a paying customer She says she'll have a different installer in my area call me Another week goes by No one calls I call her back She claims that they say they have called me times I am a REALTOR and my mobile phone is pretty much attached to my body and I check voicemail many times a day NO ONE called me, so I tell her I do not want some company who is claiming to have called me but has not coming to my house to install a system
She appropriately passes me up the chain of command New guy again states that it is all my fault that I haven't been calling in to see if my alarm works and swears it had to have been compatible when they installed it, but (get this)....someone on my street may have changed His or her phone service and that would mean my phone service was no longer compatible ( I assure you I do not share my phone service with another household and I really thought party lines went out in the 50's) So, he agrees to send me a three month refund and cancel my service "You will have a check in 7-business days" Well that was 12/and it is now 1/ I have not received a check, but I have received a bill and I received notice that they have EXTENDED my contract for another year I left this man messages last week stating this and requesting a call back Of course, I've not heard a word from them
I'm luck to have his extension, although he will not return my calls I've sent emails through their website and a real live letter to their customer complaints department No response to dateI would love to have someone contact me to resolve this Thank you Kym M

I used the monitronics monitoring service on my first homeI had them install and do the monitoringThe monitoring and equipment were not the issue, it was when I sold the home and attempted to cancel my service after years things went downhillI attempted to cancel my service like many others and of course they said I needed to send a letter of cancellationHowever, the customer rep said he understood and stopped billing me but told me to send the letterThis month they send a bill with a late fee and months of service costs on a house I no longer ownI called the corporate number (888.758.5900) and spoke to a repI asked him what they were billing me for He gave me it's a security measure spill instead of simply cancelling the accountI'm in the IT security field, a hand written letter is no more secure than an emailI will not pay them a dimeThis is a fraudulent practice designed to bilk customersI can transfer thousands of dollars from one bank account to another from my iPhone without a handwritten letter, but I need one to cancel a home monitoring service? ***

Well, I can't complain about the monitoring because my system has not gone off but good luck trying to get in touch with someoneOf course I blame myself for signing the contract but just wanted everyone to realize that they will hold you to that contractI assumed the contract from the previous owner and now find out it was for yearsI have one more year of paying an excessive monitoring costI have a second home with another system that is 10% of what this company chargesIf I had enemies, I would recommend this company but when it comes to friends and neighbors, I will advise that they run as far away as they canThey are good when it comes to signing you up but that is when the customer satisfaction ends

I recently purchased a new home and wanted to install a security alarm system that was reliable, tech friendly and actually worked! I came across American Defense Systems and began doing my research on the products they offeredMy first positive experience started with their excellent customer serviceI asked ALL the questions I could possibly ask and they walked me through the process every step of the wayMy installation was quick, clean and seamlessMy monitoring company Moni Smart Security has been pretty impressiveLet's face it, when you install a new security alarm system you want to make sure it works! I decided to activate my alarm a few times while the Tech was present to make sure the signals were being sent/received and to see how quick the response time wasI'm pleased to say they passed every time! Great product, install was a breeze and the customer service was wonderful! I will provide an update after using the system for the next couple months

I mailed a check for a months service on 4/19/for my monthly service fee of $I received the following months billing stating that I was a month in arrearsI called and spoke with a customer repI told her that I had in fact mailed in my payment and gave her the check # and the amountShe could not locate the check or any record that I had paid my monthly service feeI was told she would get back to me shortlyTwo days later I received a voice message to call Monitronics as soon as possible When I called they said that I needed to make a payment within hours to continue my serviceI made a one time credit card payment of $I just received the statement from my bank lo and behold my check dated 4/19/had been cashed by MonitronicsI am now a month aheadI am on a fixed income and can't afford to pay for someones else's lack of proper record keeping
This incident combined with a price increase several months previous without any notice of said increase has left a bad taste for this company I will be looking for a replacement service companyI should have stayed with my previous alarm company because now I feel that I was sold a bad deal by their reps when they canvassed my neighborhood and talked me into changing companies

Atrocious customer service! A sales representative came to my home spoke with my boyfriend who was also living thereLet him transfer my account from ADT that was only in my nameWhen I disputed the validity of the contact they told me I needed to file a police reportLied to us about "taking over" the account and got signed into a year contactWhich by the way automatically renews itself for an additonal months if a 30day notice is not given at the end of the contract dateBegin autodeducting from my bank account without my consentI was double charged by Monotronics and ADT for monthsEverytime I called to dispute and cancel my contract they would blow me offTell me someone would call me back but never wouldTold me the sales rep was out of the contry and then eventually that he no longer worked thereI am now moving out of state and have tried to contact someone regarding cancelling my accountThe refuse to connect me with anyone that can do anything

Monotronics has one of the most UNFRIENDLY, PAINFUL cancellation process took days of knock down, drag out brawling endless hoops to jump through and once we did all of that, they pestered us with calls instead of fulfilling the cancellation request
we had no problem with their service, but all good will evaporated due to their cancellation process customers should not be treated like trash just because they no longer want or need your service

We are in the middle of completely rebuilding our home, and their policies don't allow for any temporary hold or suspension of our account which means we are paying our monthly due for nothingI have had nothing but horrible experience with this company and would never recommend them to anyoneI will never use them again

I phoned Monitronics a week ago, regarding low battery message on my system When I talked to the customer service person, they did answer my questions After the completion of the call the customer representative called me back to tell me we needed a cell system installed on January 26th between 12:& 4:
I left work prior to 12:waiting for them At 4:I phoned Monitronics to inform them no one had arrived The rep said it's not 4:yet but I will call the technician and see what 's going on She called me back & said he is running behind & will not be at my residence until around 5: Asked me if I'd like for them to come the next day, I said I'm not taking off from work again This is unacceptable to me
We have been a Monitronics customer for over years They acted like this incident was OK
We've previously been pleased with this company, but they no regard for my time

My wife and I bought a house and had never researched an alarm company beforeA Monitronics representative came to our house and we thought is was a good deal at the time
A few months later I had been hearing about alarm companies that cost a lot less than what Monitronics was chargingUnfortunately we were locked into a three year contract
At the end of the three years My wife told them to cancel the serviceThey did not and they kept charging, but we refuse to payAfter doing battle with them over the phone they told me that I have to send a cancellation in the mailI cannot believe that in this day and age that they would require a mailed cancellation
Let my experience stand as a warning, do not get service through Monitronics

Unless you have the intent to fulfill the contract, do not enter an agreement with this organization I entered a month contract, then was relocated from a house to an apartment I did not wish to continue the service, rather than give me the option to exit the contract without paying the full face value of the contract
I can rent or sign a contract with pretty much any entity that does business; apartments, auto leases, cable, telephone, electric, DirectTV, etc every company that signs a contract has some type of mechanism or procedure in place to allow customers to exit the contract early Except Monitronics, they want you to pay the full face value
Do not do business with this organization

Monitronics is by far one of the worst companies I have ever dealt withIt is unfortunate that the last three months they chose to repeatedly ignore issues and refuse to fix issuesWhen my husband returned from deployment we received orders to moveUpon which time I called to cancel my accountAfter trying for over minutes to just cancel the account I was told I would need to email a copy of orders to not be charged a $feeWe later were informed this was not correct because we were month to month clientsI received a letter in the mail saying my account was closed and thanking me for my patronageOne month later I was charged and it caused my account to overdraftWhen I called to ask why I was billed I was informed they never closed the account just stopped service and that I would need to send a letter to an address in TexasWe did that same dayThis month we were informed they were not canceling due to not getting the letterWhen I called it turned out it went to the wrong departmentI was apologized to and informed nothing else would be required and the account would now be closedThis week I was AGAIN chargedWhen I called the MANAGER sat there repeating and refusing to outline the exact nature of the charge "We received your letter August but it didn't process till the second of September so your account won't close till October and this is a residual charge" When asked why I was being charged after trying to cancel for three months he repeated himselfWhen asked what exactly the charge was for, he only repeated himselfI was not told what the charge wasWe have not lived at the address for months and they are STILL trying to take from our account! THIS COMPANY IS BAD!

I had an amazing experience with Monitronics! The tech who set up my equipment (*** *** made the experience very nice! We even talked about our kidsHe was very polite and so respectfulHe ensured all of our equipment was working perfectly and spent the time to walk me through everythingHe even brought extra equipment and ensured that it all matched my current equipmentI really appreciated his kind heart and hard workmanship! I would definitely refer a friend to use them as well as the same technician! Good job Monitronics!

Don't use Monitronics Security!! This company was the most difficult company I have ever worked withIt took months to cancel service! First the door to door salesman said it was an month contractSo at months I called to cancel I could no longer afford it They told me I should have read the contract betterI signed up for years and to cancel I needed to pay the remainder of the contractSo I waitedI called when the amount taken out of my account went up $moreThe lady said my contract was up I said great! Cancel my service and I worked it out that I would not be charged anymore, then had to also send a letter, then they called my husband to confirm the cancelation, then they sent me a letter saying that my service cancelation could not be processed, called again to cancel, then they charged me again!! I called again and they said I still owed them more money and that the last person I talked to was not informed of the proper procedures! I'm very upset cause I cannot afford this anymoreAt this point it is beyond frustrating and I feel taken advantage ofWhat is $to a big company? It's a weeks worth of groceries to my family!

I have an account with Moni I make payments to Moni monthly I have had multiple problems with the system and the service The response that I get is, that it is actually the product that is bad, not the service We aren't responsible for the product, you need to call someone else That said I would be happy to call someone else If you let me out of your contract, I will call ADT or Vivint They will guarantee both the product and the service

We had the service for several months (more than two years)...We got robbed, were not notified (meaning the system did not work), filed a complaint and were never compensated for the negligenceWe are curretly suffering psychological trauma from this experience every day The stolen items were approx $5, No call, no police, no compensation, not even an apology, and no follow up on the situation System was repaired since the thief did some damage after the break-in Now we are moving to another house and do not want to continue the service First I wrote to Montronics to cancel the accountA reply email from Jason B*** (27JUL2015) was received and asked us to call to process the cancellation request So I called, after waiting for minutes on the phone, the person transfers me to the "Loyalty" number where another person answers (I had to give the same explanation to the second person)Now the want me to write an actual paper letter and send it to them and wait days for processing!!!! Does it take days to delete my acount from their system??? Of course, I will be charged for that month even if I no longer live in the house Resolve my situation NOW!

This is the 1st security provider we have used and could not be happier The technician that installed the system was very informative on how to operate the system The follow up calls we received to see how the system was working for us or if we had any questions or concerns made us feel that we were actually cared about as a customer and not just another sale We look forward to continued business with them
