Montway is a great company to hire to transport your vehicle any distance. They made the process very simple for us, the customer. Once the bidding process was over, we received a personal phone call with the next steps that we should expect. The pick up of the car was just a couple of days later. The truck driver was friendly, professional, knowledgable and confident. He texted as he was approaching our home, texted when he arrived, texted photos of our car on the vehicle, and the same upon delivery 2 Days later. The delivery was timely and the car arrived in the exact same shape it departed in. We definitely recommend Montway and would use their services again if a car needed transporting. Thank you.

I had great service and felt very comfortable from pickup to dropoff.

Every single thing that Montway could have done wrong, they did. They put us on long holds and hung up on us, kept us in the dark, apologized yet refused to keep their word. They were not helpful at all! Sad to say the actual drivers were the ones who helped us, NOT Montway. When we were offered 20% reimbursement because our car that was supposed to be delivered in TWO days took TWO weeks, they refused to honor it and gave us $50 and a gift card. I literally had no more energy to fight with their uncooperative representatives

The service that Montway Auto Transport was contracted to provide when the customer's ([redacted]) bid was accepted through [redacted], was to serve as a broker in this transaction. As the broker in the...

transaction, we were hired to secure a legally authorized, licensed, and insured carrier. Our service was rendered when we located and dispatched the order to the carrier, [redacted] Towing LLC. Montway's Terms and Conditions are transparent, and this customer accepted Montway's Terms and Conditions when his order was booked. Per Montway's Terms and Conditions, Montway shall provide the customer with an estimated pickup and estimated delivery date. However, delays may occur prior to, and/or during, transport due to weather, road conditions, mechanical problems, etc. There are absolutely no guarantees regarding pickup or delivery times and dates. Furthermore, the customer was also made aware of the fact that we do not guarantee dates before/on/or right after any major holiday. This customer's order was booked on 12/20/2015, which was the week leading into the Christmas holiday. It was explained to the customer that as he was booking his order between 12/20/15 - 1/15/2016, the shipment runs a greater risk of being delayed during this time period, as driver availability is usually stretched thin during this time of the year, due to the fact that many drivers opt to be off of the road, to spend time with their families and friends to celebrate their holiday of choice. Montway does everything possible to accommodate our customer's given dates; we estimate carrier assignment within 1 to 5 business days and no dates are guaranteed. We only move forward if the customer agrees to these terms which are published on our website, and disclosed during the booking process and put into writing in the order confirmation agreement. No dates and/or times related to the pickup and/or delivery of his vehicle were guaranteed to the customer at any time. Per Montway's Terms and Conditions. the customer agrees and understands and Montway is a registered transportation and property broker, and is acting solely in the capacity of a broker. The customer allows Montway to contract with other licensed and insured Motor Carrier(s) to transport the vehicle described in this shipping order. The customer further agrees and understands that Montway's sole responsibility in this transaction between the customer and Montway is to procure a carrier for shipment of the customer's property. The customer understands that Montway never takes possession of, transports, or delivers the customer's property. It is the customer's responsibility at the time of pickup, to team up with the carrier to carefully inspect the vehicle for pre-existing damage (exterior only) by completing a vehicle inspection report recorded on the Bill of Lading. The carrier and customer will both acknowledge the condition of the vehicle, and the customer is to sign and receive a copy of the Bill of Lading. It is the customer's responsibility to request a copy of the signed Bill of Lading at the time the vehicle is loaded onto the carrier's trailer for transport. Likewise, at the time of delivery, it is the customer's responsibility to once again team up with the carrier and carefully inspect the vehicle for possible damages incurred during transit. The carrier and customer will once again both acknowledge the condition of the vehicle, and the customer is to sign and receive a final copy of the Bill of Lading. It is the customer's responsibility to request a copy of the signed Bill of Lading at the time the vehicle is unloaded from the carrier's trailer at the delivery destination. Montway served as a broker in this transaction, and as such never took possession of the vehicle. The actual carrier is the only party that physically took possession of the vehicle, and was likewise responsible for completing the aforementioned inspection of the vehicle, and completion of the Bill of Lading at the origin and delivery destinations, with either the customer, or the customer's pre-designated contact. Failure to request and secure a copy of the completed and signed Bill of Lading must be addressed with the carrier who was responsible for transporting and delivering the freight. Since the customer, [redacted], called to report the damage to Montway on 1/1/2016, we have been in constant and continual contact with him, to advise him of his legal options to collect for damage compensation. We have offered to assist with the success of filing his damage claim with the proper party. We have taken action to fully advise the customer of his legal options to recover on the loss, and have also offered to provide mediation services with the carrier responsible for transporting his vehicle. [redacted] Towing LLC. We unfortunately have no control over the insurance process as far as how long it takes to process a claim or determining the outcome of a claim.  Because of this legal restriction, to provide additional assistance wherever we can, Montway also offers mediation services for those situations where all parties agree to address the damages outside of the insurance process.  This is a great help in most instances as it greatly expedites resolution for all, however again both the vehicle owner and carrier must be willing.  We do need estimates in order to present the case to the carrier for consideration. To date, the customer, [redacted], has not provided any of the documentation, besides photographs of the alleged damage, that has been requested, so that we can initiate mediation on his behalf with the carrier, [redacted] Towing LLC.

Montway returned the lowest bid to transport my vehicle. The driver showed up at the scheduled time and was very conscientious in the loading of my car. He transported it quickly, arriving at the destination a day ahead of schedule. The car was in great shape and I was immensely pleased with the service.

I am rejecting this response because:
I am extremely upset by the sub-par customer service received from Montway on several occassions and the constant lies that I was told by the company when they failed to provide updates on the car delivery within the time delivery deadlines they guaranteed me.  The supervisor referenced in my original complaint told me that they needed to even upcharge me by $100 to provide a faster delivery (arrival on the Jun 17-19) service they said they could not even do for the first original price - this is why I agreed to pay the upcharge amount.  When the delivery didn't arrive by the date timeframe - I then proceeded with calling [redacted] Logistics manager who was even more rude.  I do not want anyone else to be misled by this company's false advertising practices, bad delivery expectations, usurious upcharges, and poor customer service. We need to agree on a refund amount due to the great dissatisfaction and inconvenience this company has caused me.  All records of conversations with Montway and [redacted] Logistics have been documented for my reference. This company needs to take ownership of this horrible experience.

Firstly it is my legal obligation to inform you the Federal law both...

Montway and our customers are bound by.Montway served as the broker in this [redacted]saction. By way of Federal law, under the Carmack Amendment to the Interstate Commerce Act, brokers are not liable for damage caused to a vehicle by the carrier. A broker is a person or an entity that, for compensation, arranges, or offers to arrange, for the [redacted]sportation of property by a motor carrier. A broker does not [redacted]sport the property and does not assume responsibility for the property. A claim for cargo loss and damage must be filed with the appropriate motor carrier, which in your case is [redacted] LLC.
Unfortunately as a broker, we hold no legal authority to force [redacted] LLC to pay for undocumented damages. It is the responsibility of the Customer or their designate to inspect and document any exceptions on the delivery bill of lading so that a proper claim can be filed with the [redacted]sporting carrier, [redacted] LLC. Please note, the bill of lading is a legal document agreed upon between the customer and or, the customer’s designate and [redacted] LLC. It is my legal obligation to respectfully inform you that by applying signature upon the bill of lading at the time of delivery, you legally absolved all parties to any claims. Montway was contracted to schedule a carrier and has no involvement with the legally binding terms of the bill of lading as it is signed between customer and [redacted]sporting carrier.
Ms. [redacted] vehicle was delivered on 06/01/2016. Ms. [redacted] stated that she was aware of the alleged damage since the day it was delivered and proceeded to not inform us or [redacted] LLC until 06/15/2016, fourteen days after delivery.  Ms. [redacted] stated that her designate was not given an opportunity to detail the alleged damage at the time of delivery however, the bill of lading that her designate signed shows that she accepted the shipment as is without detailing any of the alleged damage. Again, the bill of lading is a legally binding document that is signed by the carrier and customer/designate. This ultimately absolved the carrier, [redacted] LLC, of any and all damage claims reported after the fact.
Montway has had numerous conversations with [redacted] LLC regarding this matter and ultimately, [redacted] LLC has denied Ms. [redacted] claim. This information was provided in full detail to Ms. [redacted] on 07/08/2016. Due to the inconvenience Ms. [redacted] had experienced, we extended a monetary offer to Ms. [redacted] which she has declined. We truly apologize for any and all inconveniences Ms. [redacted] has experienced.

How Montway dupes the rating system:

I posted a review describing how Montway could not find a driver at the fee they promised. They asked me to pay extra to have the car picked up by their promised date. Montway emailed me saying they would refund the extra amount plus give me a $50 restaurant certificate if I would agree to remove negative reviews, not post or tell anyone of the negative experience, and sign the form below. I replied that I would not participate in their ruse.

THIS IS SECOND TIME I USED MONTWAY AND BOTH HAVE BEEN VERY SUCCESSFUL. I USED MONTWAY DURING 2015 TO SHIP A CAR FROM MY HOME IN KALAMAZOO MI TO MY DAUGHTER IN SEATTLE. NO PROBLEM AND GOT THERE ON TIME. LAST WEEK (MARCH 2016) I HAD A CAR SHIPPED FROM SAUGATUCK MI TO ANOTHER DAUGHTER IN SUMMERVILLE SC. AGAIN RIGHT ON TIME AND RIGHT UP TO EXPECTATIONS. VERY PLEASED. GOOD COMMUNICATIONS THROUGHOUT.

The issue you reported was rectified with the carrier who transported your vehicle after we provided mediation services to you. The amount you requested was collected from the carrier, as you requested. This, in turn, is a resolution to your complaint. The amount you requested was available with a standard release form that many companies utilize when resolving a complaint or claim. You ultimately declined to accept the compensation you requested and refused to sign the release form. We did everything in our power and went above and beyond to resolve the issue that you reported. We are sorry that you have decided to decline the compensation you initially requested.
