National Small Loan Reviews (%countItem)

I wouldn’t even give this place one star. I called to get pay off on my $500 loan and it was over $1300!

I took a payday loan of $500 in June 2019. I was financially desperate. I was given an interest of over 150%. At first I could cover the payments then I fell ill & lost my income. I have been struggling the last few months. I realized the $319 payment monthly was only covering interest and that the principle was NEVER decreasing. Upon researching relief I learned this loan is illegal in my home state of NJ where the max cap is 30%(see below). I went into the lenders site and it states I never received a loan because I was not creditworthy(I have a screen capture directly from their site).
So who has the $917 that was debited from my checking account.

New Jersey is one of the 13 states in America that does not allow payday lending under state law. Moreover, NJ state usury laws forbid charging borrowers more than a 30% annual percentage rate (APR). Since payday lending is technically illegal in the state there are no payday lending centers in New Jersey.

Total scam, I never signed an agreement and now paying 800% in interest

I previously filed a complaint against National Small Loan and the claim was closed as the company and I were in discussions for s settlement. As National Small Loan has continued to state I still owe them money when the company actually owes me a refund, I have decided to refile a complaint with the following three issues:

ISSUE 1: National Small Loan owes me $526.13.
As National Small Loan has failed to comply with the state payday and usury laws, the loan agreement is illegal and void. Although I am not legally required to do so, I ensured that I have paid only the principal of the original loan amount back in full. For your records, I received an original loan amount of $500 on 6/21/19 and have paid back $1,026.13 to date on the loan, in seven payments of $146.59 during the dates of 6/27/19 through 9/19/19.

ISSUE 2: National Small Loan is sending me Collections Notices/E-mails stating they have not heard back from me at all. Please cease and desist contacting me about a loan that has not only been paid in full but has been OVERPAID. The loan status should be updated to PAID in FULL/CLOSED- and the refund check outlined above should be mailed to my address on file. For your records, please see the communication listing between myself and National Small Loan via E-mail, which is in addition to both this and the previous Revdex.com complaint I filed.

ISSUE 3: National Small Loan sent me the 'settlement offer' after my previous Revdex.com complaint. I repaid the original loan amount in full, then overpaid an addition $526.13 to that loan that I am owed, and National Small Loan stated I still have an additional $456.77 to pay for my loan to be considered paid in full. If this isn't fraud and stealing of my money, I don't know what is.

Communication from National Small Loan for a Settlement Offer:
'As a courtesy, even though not obligated to do so, we would like to offer you a discount. If you
pay the sum of $456.77, we will consider the account paid in full and waive any outstanding balance. You
can either (1) call us at 1-844-388-0500 to set up an ACH or debit card payment or (2) mail a cashier’s
check or money order for the sum of $456.77 to us at the address below'

Although not required to do so, as a courtesy, the Company will reach out to the customer withan offer to resolve their loan.We have reached out to the customer with an offer to resolve their loan which the customerdenied. The customer took issue that the loan is not legal. As your loan is legal, no refund is owed andtherefore will not be forthcoming. It is stated in the loan agreement that this is an expensive form ofborrowing as this is an installment loan with high annual percent rates. Although not required to do so,as a courtesy, the Company will reach out to the customer again with an offer to resolve their loan.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Please note that the business has only forwarded me the same correspondence that they sent to Revdex.com, stating that they would reach out, but haven't. The business' previous offer was declined because although they owe me a refund, they want to charge me in excessively additional amount to settle the loan. At this point, even though the business owes me a refund for overpaid amount, I will waive the refund in lieu of a paid in full/account close update, as I have repaid the loan in full AND have almost overpaid it by double.

I want to be done doing business with this company and leave this all in 2019.

Thank you.

Regards

Offers illegal loans in NJ with over 140% daily interest when the state cap is 30%

I took out a $500 payday loan and to date I have repaid $879.00. They are charging me an astronomically high interest rate which is in violation to North Carolina rules on Payday loans.

I applied for a loan from this company after receiving a mailer offering a pre-approval. After submitting my application I did not hear back from the company. No email, no text, no letter ..NOTHING. I emailed their support department about 3-4 days later and all I was told is they were working on it. Again after not hearing from them for about a week I contacted their support again, basically to be told they were still working on it. As of today's date I have not received any communication from them regarding my requests.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. As is evidenced by the attached documents they did in-fact receive multiple inquiries that requested an update. So, they are either running a fraud, or suck at customer service and being held accountable to consumers they market to. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.Regards

This loans interest rate is extremely ridiculous and I asked as a courtesy to have this loan cancelled. Friday I will have made 4 payments totaling 703.64. The loan was for $600. I have paid the loan amount but the majority of the money goes towards interest barely any on the principal amount! They would like me to pay $757 to pay off the loan which is ridiculous. Almost 1,500 for $600 and thats the early pay off. They would like me to pay the total amount of 2600 all the way to February, I can't afford to pay that much for a $600 loan.

I will give the last of my income but that will be 11/22/19, if you accept I will pay it that day.

I HAVE TO DISAGREE WITH THE OTHER POSTS, I'VE BORROWED 400 DOLLARS FROM NATIONAL SMALL LOAN AND THEY HAVE ALWAYS BEEN VERY HELPFUL AND COURTEOUS ON THE PHONE AND THE APPLICATION PROCESS WAS EXTREMELY EASY AND STRAIGH FORWARD, THEY ENCOURAGE YOU TO PAY OFF THE LOAN EARLY TO SAVE INTEREST, NATIONAL SMALL LOAN WAS EXTREMELY NICE TO ME WHEN I NEED MONEY REALLY FAST.

Out of the blue this company sends me an email stating to sign my loan. I did not apply for a loan. They will not accept that I did not apply for a loan. I have sent several emails to them stating that I did not apply for a loan. They have only replied back wanting me to submit more information like the last four of my social security number and my phone number. If I applied for a loan then they should have that information. I don't know if my identity was stolen or what but I did not apply for a loan and I wish they would leave me alone. I will be reporting this to the Ohio State attorney general's office.

I applied for a loan and received a text. The person texting me was Leanna, a rep for the company. She began asking me questions about my bank and to provide my account information. I told her I I didn’t feel comfortable with that and I was no longer interested. The harassment began. She kept texting me about why she needs it even though I told her I was interested and I am worried about the information they do have.

I took a loan out with National Small Loans on 1/2/19 in the amount of $400. The rates were astronomical, but I still agreed due to an emergency. I have been paying this company $117.27 bi-weekly. It was paid off on 5/101/19 for 455.26. Then on 5/21/19, I took out a loan for $500, paying $146.59 bi-weekly. Everytime I sign onto their website they would indicate when the next payment was due and the amount. As well, it would initially show the payoff amount. But then when you go back to the website and click to PAY OFF the loan, it does not state the amount and you can't click the option to PAY OFF. It would direct me to call customer service. When I have called, the rep would have me hold on the line for 5 to 10 mins and subsequently the calls gets dropped. I reached out to this company via email and they stated I still owe $650 on this account (so no money was deducted from the principal, but continues to go up). Via email they indicated they would work with me, but when I explained my situation and what terms I can agree upon, they did not oblige. Now I'm to the point that this account should be considered PAID IN FULL due to my attempts to pay off earlier but them not responding (calls mysteriously dropped) and being charged the principal at least 5x over at this point. This company is deceitful as they don't show the correct amount and change the rates in their system when you sign into your account, especially when you want to pay it off.

To work with the customer, on 10/2/2019, National Small Loan advised the customer via emailthat her balance would be “frozen” and Customer could make payments until that balance is paid in full.

In response to that email that same day the customer asked for that in writing (stating that an emailwould be fine, even though that offer was sent in an email) while adding that she could only pay $50.00 biweekly. National Small Loan stated that would be fine and reiterating that the balance would be frozen so no interest would be compounded.

The agent also sent Customer a copy of her loan agreement on 10/2/2019. Also, on 10/2/2019, the customer acknowledged in an email that she received the loan agreement but mentioned that the agreement did not include the new terms of the agreement. Customer stated, “If NSL can’t or won’t agree to those terms, I will just have to refer my account over to the bankruptcy court”. The agent reminded Customer that she is working with her.

Although not required to do so, as a courtesy, the Company will reach out to the customer with an offer to resolve their loan.

I applied for a loan because my family had an emergency and I was approved for $500. I setup a payment plan and the first withdrawal was for $318.66 in September. I received a reminder email for payment and I had been trying to login to my account to see when my due date is and for how much. It is another $318.66 for the next 8 months and if I would like to payoff the amount its is $801.40!! So $2,549.28 for the next 7 months or $1,100.00 if I would like to pay this off now. I was never given the details and they email you and call you to sign paperwork that is not detailed. I would have NEVER taken out a loan for this company if I new. This cannot be legal. The reason I took out the loan is because I was short cash. I am short now and the next due date was 10/21/19. I called to ask if they can move it to 10/30/19 and they said yes but would not send me a confirmation so I dont even know if they changed it and I am scared of overdrafting on my account. Even with 2 months worth it is $637.32 which is more than enough to pay off a $500 loan. Never do business with this company!!!

I have tried to call this business to settle my last payment multiple times. Each time they tell me they will call me back, but I work in the community so if they have tried I do not know. I tried emailing them and text messaging them to try to resolve the last payment of approximately $9.00. I also tried going on their website to make the last payment but it has me blocked because of no payment. All the other payments were taken from drafting my account. Now they have me listed as default. Considering the cost of the loan and the amount I have already paid back I am astonished that they are sending me into default for a measly amount.

I wish I could put a negative 0.
I applied online almost a month ago to be exact September 15 2019 I have called and emailed them numerous of times and still haven’t heard back from no one. I gave out my account and routing number and still haven’t received my loan. I think is unprofessional and I will be contacting higher authorities due to me giving out my social security number and account and routing number and haven’t heard anything from anybody

This is a billing and collection issue as well as a contract agreement. National Small Loan offered me a 600$ loan. Upon agreeing to the receipt of the payment, they didn't tell me how much my payments would be, how often I had to pay or even what my interest rate would be. Instead of charging my first payment after a month of receiving funds, I was charged I believe within a week or 2. The money was withdrawn from my account and left my child and I begging for canned goods because we couldn't afford food. I called today to see if my payments could be once a month and the rep basically asked why...
Mam we're hungry and have other bills and 350 a month on a 600 loan is nonsense. This was after she told me I had 18 Payments to go totaling $2812.00.
